Wearables Sewing Project: Comfy-wear/Sleepwear/Delicate Underpinnings [ Round 111 ]

Jun 1, 2022

    1. Well that certinly worked well.

      Teddy

    2. @WintyGummyBear Oh, that turned out so pretty! I love how you chose a darker, more saturated colour instead of the typical sugary pastels that one often sees for this sort of thing. It keeps it fresh. And it fits her very well, too.

    3. This is positively gorgeous on your girl! Excellent!:thumbup

    4. I've made a tiny bit more progress since taking these photos, but I'm in the process of stitching up the straps.

    7. I haven't participated in months, but many of my dolls don't have pajamas. I'm going to make a basic summer PJ set for Taika-

    8. How lovely! Even in pieces this is looking wonderful, and I can see how it will go together. I’m really looking forward to seeing this on your girl.:)

Hey, welcome aboard! I can’t wait to see what you create this time.:)

    9. @Idoru That looks lovely. So tiny and such a delicate fabric!

@Leo Pheonix She is cute! Looking forward to see what you make.

    10. Well, it's difficult for me to do something these times because of my health (in fact because of my medications...). Maybe I won't be able to make a set for Momoko. :/ But I'm happy that I could make one for Maya. ^^

And I forgot to say, your projects are very cool ! All of you ! ^^ So beautiful things !

    11. Thank you! I took an extra day off (tomorrow), and Juneteenth is now a state holiday here, so I'm hoping to make some more progress over the long weekend! The hand sewing is a bit hard on my wrist...

Aren't they cute? They were cheap, too! I just got them off of Amazon, and I'm really thrilled with them! They're perfect thread snips--I might get another pair to do wig trims, too.

Thank you! I hope it fits--I've made this pattern before, but I think I made some adjustments and I didn't... write them down of course. :doh

It is soooo delicate... Handling it has been a real learning curve! It wants to flop around and gets twisted so easily. But worth it in the end...! (I hope, haha.)

@Leo Pheonix Can't wait to see that PJ set for Taika!

Everyone else's projects are looking great, too! I love seeing all the progress.

    12. Thank you! I felt so lazy for a while. I'm glad I got something done. :dance

      Thanks! :D

I was thinking of using pastel fabrics but I've been using that for a lot of my project so I decided to do something different. Thanks so much!

      Aww thank you! :love

    13. The camisole is complete!

I just need to finish the shorts, which I will probably do tomorrow--this is a lot of hand sewing! My fingers could use the break.

    14. So pretty! I love the little beads. They added very nice touch to the piece :love

I've got a far as cutting out seven nightgowns for my girls...

    16. That is so pretty, how cleaver. You did great on this! ;) Love the details, material, and everything about it!

      • x 1
    17. This is so lovely on your girl. The color really suits her skintone and I love the use of that delicate netting. Well done!:)

Go Teddy!:cheer Cutting out that many nightgowns is no small feat, in and of itself. They’re bound to be wonderful!

    18. Wow that's a lot and I'm excited to see. I always love seeing your sewing projects. ;)

    19. I follow these threads every month but haven't participated very often since what I am working on usually doesn't line up with the theme. It's not sewing but it does kinda fit the theme for once, I just finished knitting this comfy sweater, it's pretty basic but it's my first attempt at knitting anything other than socks so I'm pretty happy with it [IMG]

    20. Pretty! Is it from self-patterning sock yarn?

Thanks - don't know if/when I'll get around to sewing them - I spent this afternoon finishing sewing the lining into a pair of 18th Century stays for a friend, and didn't get around to any doll sewing at all.

I only got it done because I took it into the office (my one day a week not working-from-home) and took over a spare desk during my lunchbreak.

      Teddy

    21. What your first attempt other than socks? This is so professional, you're very talented! Love the style and colors. ;)

      • x 1
    22. Thank you, yes I used sock yarn since that's what I'm most familiar with

Thank you! Ive crocheted most of my life but I'm newer to knitting and have only knit myself socks before this, now I'm excited to branch out and try more stuff

    23. It works well for doll sweaters, and socks of the thicker/heavier variety. Laceweight yarn works well for thinner/finer socks too. Seems like you're off to a great start with this jumper.

      Teddy

    24. That’s so pretty! I love the style with that cute shirt underneath, and that color mix is amazing. It will go with so many things. Well done!:D

    25. @whooganana This sweater is looking great! Very cozy...! This is really your first attempt knitting?! It's excellent.

    26. So pretty! It's always impressive to see people work with such a tiny scale.

That's a very nice sweater. I like the colours on her, especialy how well it compliments her hair. I think PoeticSoul is right, it will go with many different things.

I think I have to declare myself done for this month. I "accidentally" got talked into going to a LARP just a few weaks away and now I suddenly need to come up with a full kit for myself for a time period I've never really done before.

      • x 1
    27. Thank you all so much! And I've only ever knit myself a few pairs of socks before this, so not my very first knit but my first time doing something different.

      • x 1
    28. I've got the slip/underdress pinned after the darts got sewn in and the skirt was hemmed, I think it'll look nice when it's finished but until then it's just going to keep giving me aggravation, lol. But hey, this is the narrowest hem I've ever done, I think, and remarkably steady overall for handstitching! So it's coming along well, at least.

Everybody's work this round is especially beautiful, it's so exciting to see everything coming together! :D

    29. Oh that hem is so neat!! I never get my stitches that even... This is going to be really cute when it's done!

    30. It took me 3 days but I was able to make this summer dress for Momoko ! I think she is pretty like this. =)

Making patterns don't took me many times. Fortunately, it fitted well for the first attempt !

And here she is ! ^^

    32. Congratulations on a sewing project well done! Lovely material and design, and looks great on your doll.;)

    33. @Mamo My, my that’s a super-tidy tiny hem. I’m super impressed! Your dress is looking lovely so far.:)

@Moonycat31 That dress is adorable on your girl…the print is absolutely wonderful and the style is fun and carefree.:D

And as for my efforts, my slow-stitching has been getting interrupted and is taking a long time but I’m making progress. I finally finished the work on the main body of the sleeveless robe. It tells the story of Poetta’s poem, “Adventures in Bunnyland”. (All of Poetta’s poems tell the story of my collection.) And years ago, my dear hubby surprised me one Easter morning when I went to make the coffee and found the coffee station suddenly populated by tiny resin figurines of bunnies…they were everywhere! It was such a lovely surprise, and I began to collect bunny BJDs to commemorate his very loving gesture. The half dozen bunny BJDs I collected (4 tinies, 1 msd, and 1 sd) all happily reside in a display with those little resin figures which I call Bunnyland, and that’s where the story comes from.:)

    37. Thanks @mydaffer ! I had just enough of the blue jersey left for the top, so I'm glad it came out well.

    38. What a great job! That outfit looks so comfy…just like everyone wants to wear around the house in the summertime.:)

I just snapped a quick one…not that good, but you can get the general idea.

    39. That's really nice you have a theme for dolls. Mine mostly all wear dresses I've made, nothing like this though. Love all the bunny figures and dolls, especially the one with the pastel spool arm, did you do that? Very unique! ;)

    40. What a great collection you have! They are amazing! :chibi

    41. While waiting for the next thread, I made another dress and a winter coat. I'm so happy of how it came out and would love to share with you all :whee:

Impressive productivity. It looks good too.

    45. I’m so glad you all enjoyed the glimpse of my Bunnyland. Your comments are so sweet, it warms my heart.:love

She’s one of my more unusual original characters who is inspired by the manga “Chobits” by Clamp, about computers that become sentient. She pretty much came this way blank, a Doll Chateau Gladys A on their mechanical body. I only added the Luts bunny ears.

Such a sweet outfit! That coat is so cute and the scarf ties it all together perfectly. I’m so glad you shared it with us because it’s just so adorable. I love it!:D

    46. I usually recognize sculpts by the makers but I never seen her before, very unique. Love what you've done with her.

    47. I've had Sativa's under-dress done for almost a week now, and finally got the energy to take some pics of her tonight. <3 I did a bit of insertion lace above the bottom ruffle (thank you @Maud for the inspo ;)) and elastic at the waist to give it a more flattering shape. The closure is a simple bit of velcro down the front, mostly because I wanted it to be relatively easy to remove when needed.

(I also made her hat at the tail end of last month- it's made of fleece, but I would like to make her another one from felt.)

And a cute glamor shot because I started having fun playing around with her posing. <3
I haven't even played Elden Ring, but she's giving me major Rani vibes.

ETA: @PoeticSoul I LOVE your Bunnyland! It looks so cute and magical! <3

    48. Adorable and seems to fit her perfectly. Love the added lace, simplicity to the closure, and the neck line. Well done, she looks great. ;)

    51. @kaschan502 I love everything about this! Her underdress looks so delicate and etherial on her, all on its own…especially against her gorgeous green skin. And that hat is pure awesomeness! Love, love, love!:love

I finally finished Poetta’s story robe, Adventures in Bunnyland. It seemed like this took me forever…but then, after all, it is called slow-stitching.:sweat

    56. @WintyGummyBear your outfits always look so awesome, I love your work!! Your girls are so stylish :chibi

@kaschan502 I love how it turned out, it's so light and airy! It makes her look so ethereal with her willowy limbs, how beautiful <3

@PoeticSoul another amazing robe for Poetta, her stories are unforgettable! I love the bunny appliques, such a lovely touch!!! :D

    57. I think I'm finished with this little matching set for Doria. I'm humming and harring on whether to add more of the blue lace around the bust of the top and around the waistband of the bottom but I haven't decided yet.

      Anyway. Matching set.

I really need a better photo setup, she looks super yellowed here and she really isn't. Also she's headless currently because I'm redoing her faceup so her head is elsewhere.
