@Moonycat31 That is very cute. I like the lace ruffle at the bottom and those ribbon ties add a unique and creative touch. I often find sewing to be quite therapeutic and relaxing, so I can understand why you’re getting so much done even though you’re ill. Whatever works!
Well I got as far as uploading this to flickr and promptly forgot to post it I'm done with his comfy outfit. There's still plenty of time left in the month, so I'm currently deciding if I want to work on a second project or take it easy/do other hobby things for a bit. Round 128 Playclothes! by Jules B, on Flickr
@Mamo He looks marvelously comfy in this outfit. I love the way the drawstring shows, tied and hanging down in the front and looking so realistic for a little kid. Adorable!
I finished her little jumpers, adding a few random plant bits tied with old ribbon which to me adds a bit of forest whimsy. Next up on my to-do list for her wardrobe is to make her a couple of sweater-type jackets.
I had every intention of sewing things for some of the other members of my dolly crew, but then I got an unexpected shipping notice for the Minifee DES I ordered last month WELP, guess I have a suprise wardrobe to plan now
I just finished and underdress for Petronella. The cups gave me quite a bit of trouble. It took careful patterning, hand basting before sewing, light interfacing and very selective padding to get it as smooth as it is and I'm still not completely happy with it. But it will do. I made it to go under a crochet dress that I started before this month, so I don't count it towards this project, but for context, here it is: I still haven't started the petticoat for the dress I altered earlier. I do have a bit of an idea for what I want to do with it, though, so it still has a good chanse to get done.
@Tira-chan The jacket looks great so far @Mamo Congrats on completing the comfy outfit! It looks so soft and warm! The drawstring is a great touch @Moonycat31 I hope you're feeling better! You've made great progress. Also, yay for temporary wigs @PoeticSoul I love the plant decorations! They're a wonderful addition to the outfits @Lillith Wow! The chest parts sound like they were very complex to do but you've really done a great job! I made some progress! The top is complete! I was also able to find a little charm and some chain that was suitable for making the necklace! I'm so happy!
Thanks! I theory it shouldn't have been that bad, just requireing precision. But in reality, depite a thin fabric and all the tricks in the book, I had trouble with the bulk of the seam allowances inside the cup. Even clipped and trimmed as much as I dared, they still added enough thickness around the seams for cup to sit too far from the doll and that areas between the seams collapsed and buckled just enough to look wierd because of the difference in thickness. I had to compensate using padding, but it's not a perfect solution. That looks great on him. Good fabric choice and the necklace ties in with the scale of the doll beautifully.
@Lillith Regardless of the difficulties you faced with this, the end result looks absolutely wonderful and is a triumph in pattern drafting! And, oh my, what a gorgeous crocheted dress…paired with those adorable stockings, this outfit is a feast for the eyes. I love it! @Sanar Oh well done! It fits beautifully and that necklace is the perfect finishing touch.
I finished the two jackets I was working on out of fuzzy socks. I think these will work nicely for a little forest elf when the temperatures drop. Next up, since I still have some time left in the month, I plan to dig around in my sock scraps and come up with something to turn into caps and scarfs.
@Moonycat31 That is so cute on your girl and very bohemian. I love the wide lace trim you used. Good job!
@PoeticSoul Those jackets look great! Warm jackets is often the last thing I get around to making for my dolls. I really should make Petronella something like that. @Moonycat31 Pretty! I agree with PoeticSoul, that lace trim looks really good.
And hooray! I’m done! Not just with my sewing for the month, but also with my intensive pre-holiday cleaning. And just in time for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving feast preparations too. All month I’ve interspersed scrubbing, scouring, and carpet shampooing chores with sewing just to keep myself sane. Working with socks was so therapeutic and calming, and I’m proud of what I was able to pull off. And all this for a doll that won’t even be here until January (big shout out to my stand-in volunteer Realfee, Grannybelle, who endured the embarrassment of being wigless and mostly naked for the duration.) When Brambles arrives, she’ll have an entire wardrobe of mix-and-match sock couture waiting for her. Here are my final sewing projects for the month: 3 hats and 4 scarves.
@PoeticSoul I am in awe of how produtive you have been this month. Brambles will have a great warderobe to come home to when she arrives. Everything you made this month goes together so well.
It’s a little late but I’m finally coming out of lurking. I had to catch up on some studying first. I’m using the “basic set” Xun pattern by Missy’s imaginings to make a dress for my 1/4 resinsoul girl. She needs a good basic party/formal winter dress. Right now she’s got only ball gowns or borderline pajamas. The projects this round look great! @PoeticSoul Brambles’ outfits are adorable! I really love the flowers on the hats.
I have gotten very distracted the past two weeks so I'm only now posting photos of the pants I finished last week . I was thinking I could get into sewing another piece for one of my dolls, but now I know I won't get to that until next month. I just recently got the 3d printer I ordered and have been messing around with that. I also had to redo my Achelous' face-up and I didn't want to take pictures of him until I got that done. It's nice to say "hi" to all of you again, I'm happy to see that everyone's projects are looking fantastic. @PoeticSoul The set you made is so perfect I adore that blue jacket. Your project really makes me want to do some casual clothes and maybe delve into seasonal attire. Imma have to put it on my to-do list though because I'm already racking up a long list of clothes I want to make. @Moonycat31 Your girl looks really cute. The simple design and floral fabric gives her dress such a nice vintage look, and I love that lace trim. @Lillith Wow, that undress looks great. I can certainly see how much trouble the cups would be, but they look good and even if the fitting is a bit off you can't tell at all. Her bright red crochet dress is turning her into a very colorful girl. I'm impressed by anyone who can crochet or knit, I can't sit still 4 minutes to do something requiring that level of patience. @Sanar That shirt looks nice and fits really well. I'm loving those stripes, can't wait to see the rest, especially the coat. Here he is. I really wish I had his white wig, then everything would match properly.
That turned out super elegant! I love how dramatic it is and I can see it will be even more so with a white wig. The trick is to get you speed up to the point where you can see things moving and pick projects that you can finish within a reasonable ammount of time. When you have the end in sight it doesn't feel so hopeless. I am a fairly experienced crocheter, but I still sometimes need small and easy projects between the bigger ones to keep my motivation up. After a while you'll find that some projects don't need your undivided attention and then you can work while hanging out with friends or while watching TV and it won't be nearly as tedious. Audiobooks, radio theater and podcast are also great.
Everyone's work has been so wonderful this round!!! I've been mainly lurking and haven't commented yet - it's been a busy month what with one thing and another - but I'm really enjoying seeing what people have made! I'll see if I can get those socks made tomorrow, which is the end of the month - maybe, maybe not?! Otherwise, I'll join you all for the next round!
I declare myself done for this month. I managed to make a set of underwear, two pairs of socks, one pair of pants and one underdress from start to finish. I also altered one exisitng dress and finished one chochet dress I started before this month. All in all, not too bad. I think Petronella might be a little bit annoyed with me for not making any of the tops and skirts I had planned and instead made several things that could just as easily have waited to next months theme. As it is she has a lot of clothes but very few complete outfits. But, oh well. This is what happens when you go in without a plan.
After another busier-than-expected month, I managed to sneak in a few new items for my newest dolly arrival! For her base layer, I made a pair of leggings and a little halter neck crop top. I also made her a pair of slouchy boot socks and matching hoodie from some sweater knit-style fabric One more bonus pic showing off the hood because she looks stinkin' adorable in it
That's a great otfit. I love layers. She looks super comfortable in it, that hoodie especcially. It's been snowing like crazy here the last 24h and now I feel a bit bad for not making Petronella any jacket or even a warm sweater.
That’s an amazing amount of work for the month, and I love how it’s all so perfectly mix-and-match. And all my girls are envious over that crocheted dress, by the way. Stinking cute is right! How adorable is she!?! You did a wonderful job on this very complete outfit. Well done!
@PoeticSoul Everything looks so cozy! The fabric colours work so well together and the plant accents are the icing on the cake! @Moonycat31 The lace trim is lovely! @Alamentine I really like this! So silky and elegant, perfect for your boy! @Lillith Absolutely amazing! I need to learn crochet one day. Your crochet top is easily my favourite part of this outfit @kaschan502 I'm glad you completed your outfit! The hoodie is wonderful I've become super busy lately settling into a new job, so no progress for me Another outfit for the unfinished business pile~
