I am considering 3D printed doll head. The problem is that the resin seems semi-transparent. Is there a way to make it look opaque without use of air spray? Does anyone have transparent-ish head on opaque resin body??
I did have a hybrid of that type in the past (but with casted resin). It...does look a bit odd, yeah. The neck and hands being fully opaque, while the head has a slightly translucent quality to it, can make a match look even worse than it truly is color-wise. The head just glows way more than the visible body does. I'd probably advise to look for a translucent body as well.
If you are printing the head yourself or have a choice in the resin used, you can add opaque white resin dye to the liquid resin before printing that will make it look solid like the standard opaque polyurethane resin. The exposure time will need to be a little higher than before. There is casted resin that looks semi-transparent like the 3D printed resins, which is usually called "imported" or "environmental" resin. I usually see it as an option from Chinese makers like Doll Family A/H and Loong Soul. Dollshe used to offer it as "honey" resin. And in the earlier days of the hobby, you would see "French resin", which is also semi transparent but yellows VERY badly so I don't know of any makers that still use it.
Airbrushing rules. I painted tan head to white, and any resin could be turned to opaque by acrilyc paints.
