@dambuster01... Sharon I think the pic is just beautiful. I love the sun coming in and her face is tilted just perfectly...she seems mesmerized. The light is not too yellow to me...it is autumn light and lovely warm and glowy
I am personally so happy to have a second day of blue skies and sun after a week of grey and rain!

@icicle...you never know what Enid could concoct on her own....oatmeal molasses cookies - maybe the ketchup is like the topping/ frosting?? Blech

Well I have going back and looking at the basics. I thought I would wait a bit...I liked the 15 when released....now I am drawn to the big eyes 4. Do you think that could be a girl? Sure makes a great boy.

My Target.... Finally has a small selection the little Lori dolls and that's it. Why, why, why!! Where are the Glampers for crying out loud!

Thanks latedate_kate! I love this wig on Phil and the Spampy dress and those SHOES!!!! Those pointy toes! Amazing! And when is that darn camper going to come into your store...you need to have a little chat with the manager for sure!!!

Am I the only one who's disappointed with the new Persons? I was getting ready to pull the trigger on an 8 when suddenly they changed! The very new ones on the site just seem very ordinary to me; they've lost their attitude! I was hoping the fall specials would be different but they're leaving me cold. To be clear, it's not any of the dolls posted here but the newer ones that have just been added in the past few weeks.

*whew* I'm kind of glad. I've been having to pass up on nice Persons, and it's so difficult! Plate spinner from the circus release, I'm looking at you!
And the tan 17 from the wedding set was just so adorable, and I really wanted that regular 04 from this last summer special (to make into a boy)!
So finally, I won't have to feel like fingernails on a chalkboard while waiting for the sale period to be over.

It's funny that you should mention this OolooKitty because I recently had this conversation with a couple of my dolly friends. I like the new faceups that have just been posted on Secretdoll's website, I think they're pretty, but like you I think they've lost their 'attitude'. Persons always had a look "all their own" ... it was never 'pretty' as such, but definitely really 'cute but grumpy', 'cute but stroppy', 'cute but oh boy you don't want to upset one', whereas the new ones are just very pretty. Where is that attitude gone!!!

 

I am beyond excited - after wishing for a Person 08 from the release with their swimsuits I managed to adopt one who arrived home today and is just as gorgeous as I hoped she would be and full of attitude! Oooooh I adore her! I have called her Elise and can't wait to get a shot to share of her!

I hadn't realised how much I was missing my old Persons till now! I definitely need to adopt another!!

 

Congratulations! It has been my experience that Persons thrive in pairs.

 

My Person 21 is in need of some new eyes. Can anyone recommend a place to buy from, and which size suits them best?

 

I like the new look. I think they still have attitude maybe it is subtle but it is there.
This is my new Molly Big eye #21. She wears 12mm nicely.

 

I'm on my tablet, so can't share a photo, but my 21 is wearing 12mm eyes from Doll Bakery and they look great!

 

enchantedlily -- ooo congratulations! We can't wait to see her. I loved that release. I'm not into the frilly ones lately and I do miss that cranky pants Person thing but I understand artists like to mix it up and explore different options with their sculpts.

I've seen the new limited dolls - they look quite lovely to me, but perhaps too close in style to the Wedding Person brides - all ruffles and romance. I will be passing on them, but I didn't pass up getting the Lori OG Loft this past weekend. Target had a coupon for $10 off $50 on toys in our paper and I figured I'd get that dollhouse and an outfit. Mind you, I haven't even gotten around to doing anything with the Glamper. I'm still trying to play catch-up on photos I owe other doll boards. But I love the Loft because I think it may suit my Catsy cats better and I've wanted a dollhouse for them for quite some time. Anyway, I hope to have more time to take pics of my poor neglected Persons to share soon.

 

Cattwo -- Oooo yay! a loft! I'll bet your cats will love it, a perfect fit for sophisticated tinies.

Cool! I am tempted to see if either of our stores still have the loft, but will have to wait a bit for money.
In the meantime, Wilfred has taken over one bunk and has decided to hibernate for the winter, and Wilson is still snorting around in his car. lol
I got some small yarn and hope for some time to make a tiny blanket. Maybe a pillow too. But I'd better just set my sights on a blanket and hope for the best.

The limiteds haven't been to my tastes lately but I like the new basic face ups, especially 17 and Big Eye 4. I think it's good Secretdoll is stretching out creative-wise. Let'em knock out a few sweets and when they tire of that, we'll have some fresh new sours. There are lots of us with multiple Persons and the new frillies might appeal to someone who feels saturated with the spunky ones. Or, might finally appeal to someone who's been on the fence about People and open up a new market for them. I appreciate the variety, the need to creatively change it up a bit from time to time and my wallet appreciates the break too

Just wanted to say hello after a long time. The problem is... I am really no forum person. Like to be on fb and flickr and instagram. But I hope I will be here again sometimes And now I have to look for all the new lovely persons here

 

True, I'm just sad because I was about to buy an 8 and they changed them up like three days before, and I'm not into the new ones! So I may look elsewhere for a sister for Linnet. Or maybe a limited will come along that appeals to me. They're still lovely dolls but they've lost a little personality for me. But I'm anxious to see what people here do with them! Maybe they'll change my mind when I see them at home in their new outfits and wigs driving their big rigs or whatever!!!

 

I think it depends on the outfits - They are really not my cup of tea too! But if you dress them in stylish designer clothes they will get back their personality. And I think people who like sweeter dolls maybe like this release?!

She has such a cute face! As far as being a grouch - well, seems most Persons are like that. Yes, they always want more of their own kind, so be prepared for a little pestering in that regard, but even if you give in and get her a sister, don't expect it to lift her mood at all. That's just the way Persons are - never satisfied, even when they get their own way!

Happy weekend everyone! I think my daughters have left me one more pumpkin to clean -blech

 

You too! I live in a very rural area that also happens to be on a popular haunted hayride route. We do carved pumpkins for that as there's little point in doing them on the 31st when no one but us will see them, and we're out trick or treating anyway. One year we did 14 pumpkins --scooping is my least favorite part too!

I should make an effort and get the resin kids in costume, but the real one seems to need all my time. Steampunk is all about the accessories, you know...

 

We don't celebrate Halloween here in Spain but I've noticed that the local supermarket now has a small section of Halloween items for sale. I bought a skeleton, about 15 inches long, which I hung on the front door about two weeks ago.....every time the wind blows so my little boy Chihuahua has heart failure!

 

Lol! It's probably bigger than him! Or maybe uncannily too close to the same size for his comfort :0
Do you celebrate Dia de los Meurtos in Spain at all? I know it's a Latin American tradition but I wonder if it's caught on in other Spanish speaking areas...

 

LOL Yes, you're right icicle, it is taller than him but to be honest he is frightened of everything, I've never known such a 'scaredy cat dog!'
No, I'm not aware of people celebrating el Dia de los Meurtos but they do celebrate everything else! I swear there is not a month goes by without one fiesta or another. And then there is the Mardi Gras, Semana Santa, Los Reyes, the Spanish LOVE a good procession through the town!

Interesting take on the Near dolls. Looks like a more realistic nose to soften the face and make it look less Person-like and more human.
I like the BE08 and NE21 best, though...

eek! Those huge cowl sweaters are awesome! I'm going to have to figure out a pattern....

 

I am loving the Near Person. I think her face is so beautiful. Definitely more human-like. I've never ordered directly from Secretdoll, mine have always been rehomes...how long do they usually take to ship in a typical release?

 

Ooooh I'm loving them too, particularly the Near Person 21 with the paler lips...although I like the other with the red lips too....and the #8 is pretty cute too.
icicle, there is a Blythe pattern that I found on-line that could probably be adapted without you having to create a whole new pattern......here it's being worn by my since adopted out #21, the sleeves could be lengthened and the roll neck made bigger......

The pattern is by someone who goes by the name of Woolly Rockers and can be found on Ravelry. She also has a blog but unfortunately I can't find the link right now.

 

My experience is that they ship in a fairly quick fashion, I think mine was less than a month both times.

Oh yes, that would be a wonderful start -- thanks dambuster01! I usually start fiddling around with the free Lati Yellow dress pattern on Ravelry but there are less mods with this pattern.

I just made my final layaway payment on my Person 21. When I logged on I saw the new Cold Heart release. They are really nice, but they are much softer than their previous releases. I love the new outfits; the cowl sweaters are so neat and I love the shoes! I just received 3 outfits I custom ordered for my Person; all Barbie retro style outfits; a Dinner at Eight type outfit, dungarees & a work shirt, and a polka dot sundress. She needs shoes yet, though. Can anyone tell me what will fit and where you get shoes?

I like the sound of the outfits you're getting for her too.
As for shoes, I don't know about anyone else but I tend to get mine all over the place. My girl, Valentine, has shoes from Ebay, Etsy and Ruby Red Galleria, as well as from Releaserain and Mimiwoo. I search for Lati Yellow shoes and go from there. She also wears some Blythe shoes, for example she has some really cute little boots which I got on Etsy and others which I got from Cool_Cat, again meant for Blythe. Also the overly large shoes on Ebay that are also designed for Blythe look very cute on them. My girl also has some which I've had for ages and I think I actually bought them for an old Riley Kish! I hope you find what you want out there

I kind of like the narrow eyed 21 and the big eyes 08, but they're very definitely girls.
I keep looking at the big eyed 04 in the standard line, but I don't know. He doesn't grab me like the two boys I already have.
I see they posted up some new overall outfits! And there are still several wigs I would love to try... but at $25 a pop, plus shipping...
maybe I need to learn to make wigs...

Hi Lurker out of the shadows now lol and wanted to thank you all for posting the info and discussion about Persons...many thanks! I have two girls bought as rehomes and hoping to add a Near person next year..I am looking for some great quirky clothing and would love some suggestions of your favourite handmade clothing designers..

 

What is it with kids today? Honestly, when I was a girl I would have been delighted if my mum and dad suggested a nice walk on the beach in the sunshine!
Oh no, not Valentine though, all she wanted to do was sit in front of the tv playing on her Playstation......
Hence the sulky face!

 

The new Nears are really neat; eerie and strange how I like my Persons to be! I just finished paying off a big doll so they won't be in the cards for me, sadly.

My boys would love to have a beach anywhere NEAR us! Not a chance in landlocked Kansas!

Look for the Lati Yellow size. I think you have to take the heads off for those sweaters though.

 

Thank you aernath! Yes, any other child would be delighted, wouldn't they? What on earth does it take for these Persons to be happy, eh?
As for the sweater, yes it came from that lady in Italy, it's so cute, I got it back in the summer and saved it for her for the cooler weather. I got the Blythe Middie size if I remember rightly and it's just a bit short in the sleeves, which fortunately she doesn't mind. As for the back, do you know I can't remember now if it has an opening down the back and although she's only in my bedroom I'm held down with two dogs inside my hoodie and another two on my lap so can't get up....and it's nice when they're quiet! LOL....I will look later though.

 

Awww! That's a great way to be pinned down! Warm furries! I hate to move when any of our cats gets comfy on my lap. And yes, since it's colder now, that happens a lot more often! lol

 

Same with this lot.....though being Chihuahuas they are often shivering even when it's just the tiniest bit cooler!
Anyway, I just looked at the sweater and it had an opening of a couple of centimetres and a snap at the top, so enough for it to be pulled up from the bottom over the legs.
