She looks adorable! I love that attitude-y face! Cattwo - Congratulations! A June bride is perfect! lol I hope she makes it home quickly and without incident!
Great pic, LadyCrow! What a delightful bedroom she has! Thank you, aernath! Yes, here's hoping she arrives safely. I've actually had a bjd take a detour before, even though it was shipped EMS. I do hope this bride is not the runaway kind.
Thanks y'all for the sweet comments!! I'm sorry for dumping and running with my photo!! Just as i was about to comment,I got sick and then forgot until now. Please know that i love your dolls as much as my own(almost)!! Eloise sends her love too!!
I can't believe I am here. I have become obsessed with looking at pictures of Secretdoll Persons. They are calling my name . . . I can hear them . . .
Hurray! You found us! I think most of us who enjoy really strong characters end up here eventually -- those pretty dolls just can't keep us as interested as one with natural attitude -- or at least great back story. It's those nefarious little hands... they look so weak but get into so much mischief... and the big melons that obviously contain evil genius, or at least a penchant for drama. Ooh groovy, kcoconuts! Brides and Grooms are shipping so she's right on time again. Cattwo -- did your Bride arrive?? new thread spam -- funky chicken style play that wubba chicken, white boy! by christina, on Flickr Show us your Persons!
Oh, hello Oliver. It is you and Eloise who led me down this dark path. Please show more pictures of Persons!
Just a quick pic after she arrived...I love her! First pic I've tried to post. It didnt work Time to research how to post! icicle, I love your boy!! Every ones pictures are so great [/IMG]
Love those pics of your Persons with their funky chicken, icicle Very Cute! And yes, my bride arrived on Friday and I had wanted to take a pic of her to post, but I'm dealing with a nasty cold I caught, courtesy of my DH. How sweet of him to share, eh? LOL! So I just wasn't feeling up to taking any earlier, but will do so this coming weekend. She's beautiful - I really love the way she came out. Congratulations on your new girl, kcoconuts! She looks like quite a little darling and what a pretty face-up she has, too!
They're up!!! I love the little dreamer 17 (again), my first person was the dreamer 17 from the outdoor life. So I think I will pass on him and just make mine a similar outfit. But now the regular 4 girl! I want her without the outfit because I want her to be a boy! So if I can swing it, I will do that. They all have such cute outfits! icicle - I always love seeing your boy! He always has the cool stuff, and is just so cute! And Enid, you're making my boys want their own Wubbas. kcoconuts - she's such a cutie! Love her colors! Cattwo - Hey, sharing is caring? lol Sorry you're feeling ill! I'm hoping you get better soon and get time to play this weekend!
I'm in so much trouble! First impressions are that I love big eyed 21 and BE 4. Such a change in make-up but very pretty with all that colour. I also love the sweet girl, green BE 21 - she's almost too sweet to be a person. How I earth am I going to decide?!
They are all amazing! I don't even have a Person yet. I was planning on a 21, and decided to wait for this limited release to see if anything caught my eye, and if not then get a 21 basic. But that BE 4 is awesome!
Hehe I quite like all the big-eye versions this round! The hula hooper has a lovely faceup and is seriously tempting, as does the BE4 (but I'm hoping they'll release this as a basic). The 8 just reminds me of Eric on That 70s Show. XD And wow did you guys notice they're using generic glass eyes now? I'm assuming it's more cost effective but kind of a shame. And well, MiyaMaia wanted to participate in the wubba challenge but...
Awww! Only one chicken to go around? They will have to figure out a timeshare schedule. I love how almost all of them are tan, this release! So nice to see them! Currently thinking hard about lay away....
Sharing is caring, MiyaMaia. Funny about the eyes -- I didn't notice some were glass since Groovy Girl 04 is still listed as having handmade Secretdoll Eyes this time around. Same with Girl 21. I wonder if SD is only is going to make eyes when they can't find exactly what they want in glass. It would be a shame since the eyes are so distinctive, but I bet it speeds up production, especially in a big release like this one.
Thanks everyone for the compliments! (sorry, I'm new and can't sort of how to highlight names :-P ) I think I'm going to name her Hattie, if the name sticks. I love the new release so much! My favorite is Groovy Girl 4.
I ordered my first Person! I waited to see the limited release, and while they are all super cool, I just went ahead and ordered a basic 21. I can't wait to see all the Groovy 70s Persons when they all start to arrive, though! Is it about a 3 month wait for a basic, the same as for limiteds? Also, I'm clearly going to need a Wubba Chicken once my Person arrives. Where does one procure a miniature Wubba Chicken?
Thank you for the well wishes, aernath! Hoping by this weekend, I can put the box of tissues down and pick up my camera. Great pic, astronik! And yes, I noticed that about the eyes, too. I know many would change out the Secretdoll eyes, but I always liked how unique they were and miss seeing them. Seeing that 04 with big eyes sure was a surprise for me, too. It changes the whole look of that doll - really softens the personality. I think my favorite this time is the big eyed tan 21, but I don't feel the need to buy her, which is a relief after getting two in a row. My wallet needs a breather. But I'm happy for everyone who found exactly what they were looking for in this collection - it really is a great one!
Congratulations, Jaybirdfinnigan! The basic 21 is a beautiful girl! It usually only takes about 2 months to get them - at least, that's been my own experience. I imagine it can go longer, say if you choose to do layaway. I got one of those rubber chickens from Sausalito Ferry Co.'s on-line site, but not sure they sell them anymore and the one I got may be a little smaller. That was a couple years ago. My male Catsy, Bogart, used it in his magic trick, but it didn't work out well for him: https://www.flickr.com/photos/88404558@N07/9001944652/in/album-72157632628410190/
I am loving all of your photos and new Persons! The 70's summer special editions are all wonderful. I think I am most tempted by the 04 in her green jumpsuit and the 21 in her little dress with the handbag ... but I love them all! I'm glad I have until July 20 to see if I must order or can resist! It's amazing how the "big eyes" effect changes the whole look.
Thez remind me little but of Valfres drawings. Does anybody know her? Shes a fashion desinger or something like that
Slinking into the thread... I never thought these little ones were for me but them I saw one in "person"....LOL and they are so stinkin cute. Plus with this 70s vibe and the tan skin...cuteeee! Question about the handmade eyes, what are they like...someone mentioned they were made of paper? Or is it like a paper decal on a glass base? Im in glad the limited period is til July. I want a pair of them and they are just no where in my budget plan. Help me resist!
I have a few spare wubba chikens so if any of you guys would like one PM me your address and I'll get one out to your Person! Yes I looked back and I think two of the new ones still have the custom eyes, whew. Honestly I'm finding it easier to resist ordering with the plain eyes. Has anyone ever confirmed whether the previous tan version are the same with different releases or not? I know the cat 08 specifically said Light Tan, and these ones really seem pale as well.
I believe they are different -- I haven't put them side by side yet but my new Groom looks lighter than Oliver (Aqua Release) though both were listed 'Light Tan'. I'll take a comparison pic later when I get them both out. But! Here comes the Groom -- James by christina, on Flickr I think I might call him James, my bad Victorian prep school boy... or I also think I might call him Holmes and give him a flat at 221b Baker Street... or I might go with my first impulse and dress her up like the Wednesday Addams she is, deep down inside... ... sometimes it's more fun to let them decide once they settle in...
Congratulations, icicle! Your little Groom is wonderful! He's both handsome and pretty at the same time! Love the outfit - so well done! Yes, I can see him making a great Wednesday Adams, too, but then again, if he's Holmes, he's a master of disguise and can be anyone anyway - including an adorable "she"!
Thanks Cattwo, I'm really smitten with him (or her). It'll be entertaining trying to decide what direction to go in first. You're right, Holmes would be such fun -- the disguises, especially the gypsies and ragmans ! the Victoriana! a chance to finally use that awesome wallpaper from the modern BBC series! I'm such a prop hound... The outfit is surprisingly versatile and clever -- the 'shirt' collar is part of the vest which has no sleeves and that makes it easy to put on the jacket. The pants are gray flannel and the shoes... oh my bob, they are awesome... perpetually tied, thank goodness... awesome shoes by christina, on Flickr I hope you're feeling better and have time to enjoy your Bride soon!
I'm so excited to see this thread taking off, like it has the past few days! I'm happy new Persons are on the way to our group!!! Congrats to all!!!! I love the wubba chicken challenge. But I've lost ours, or they fled from neglect. I'll have to try and find some more, now Eloise is mad at me for losing them! Eloise has been on a shopping spree, since I left her to play, while I was ill. She loves new clothes, who knew!... lol We had a little snafu, when she learned that the plastic money thingy, as she calls it, eventually runs out of money to spend. Sent from my Venue 8 3830 using Tapatalk
Congratulations on the new arrivals! So fun seeing them "in person" instead of just the company photos! ^_^ Oh, it's always best to let them pick their own personality when they arrive. I've had too many rejections of my own ideas over the years. Poor Eloise! I know that feeling! It sucks. But you have plenty of fun stuff to play with already. Just look at that tablet and papasan chair! I do think she looks best in that wig. So cute!
Ooooh icicle that outfit looks even better than the promo pics. I really wish I could have swung a mustachioed man but such is life, maybe one will turn up in my future.
Thanks for the kind welcome for James! This is my first fullset with clothes from Secretdoll and I'm impressed. Makes me wish I could afford them each time too... astrosnik -- definitely a difference in 'Light Tan'. I took a comparison of all the People I currently have. It's quite a range... Persons People by christina, on Flickr l to r -- 21 Aqua Aqua Light Tan 08 Big Eye Spring Wedding Light Tan 08 Basic NS 21 Narrow Eye Cat Person WS More comparisons are on my flickr ...
They are made of paperclay... No decals. Hand painted. Very beautiful. And fragile. I bought my girl second hand and the seller just tossed the eyes in a plastic box. The eyes were crackled and unusable Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
Oh, what a shame! I've gotten chipped glass eyes before, some sellers just don't think. Thanks for the comparison! Nice range of skintones there.
Thanks so much for the answer! That really really sucks that a seller was so irresponsible with your second hand girl and the eyes were ruined. Does anyone know if Secret Doll will hand-make a pair of eyes if requested instead of providing the glass, I wonder? They really are something special and do give the dolls a certain look. If I can decide which little cutie I want I'll ask them if it's possible even if it costs more/takes more time. I'm just curious. Also is there a "what fits" thread? I am so unfamiliar with anything outside of big SDs… Do all the clothes for them need to be custom or is there a similar doll size that might have clothing options? There weren't a ton of options still available on the Secret Doll website. Sorry for being a newb on your thread folks.
You know, they might! Wouldn't hurt to ask. ^_^ They seemed very kind when I was doing my first order with them, and couldn't quite figure out the lay away system. As for what fits... I'm terrible with that and can never remember. I have seen in the thread somewhere, it's mentioned. I think Lati White? Or Yellow? But don't quote me. I got my first boy with the outfit so he'd have something to wear, but the second one I bought without, and am sewing teeny clothes for them when I get motivated. lol Speaking of motivation: I did just that and made a fringed jacket and bell-bottom pants that came out not quite so bell-bottomed. And we don't have any Wubba chickens around here, but we do have a Wubba DUCKY! My boys, Wilfred and Wilson. Wilfred, Wilson - SecretDoll Persons 17 and 21 by aernath, on Flickr
Thanks aernath! (seems I'm everywhere you seem to be…lol). I've been trying to sort through the treads and Etsy and be all about do diligence…but jumping to a new size is hard! Your little ones are so cute! Girls I can resist…but then I see cutie little boys & their toys, I just go on auto-pilot press the buy now button! I'm so glad the order period is til July.
I thinks James is a very versatile Person, icicle - lots of fun avenues to explore with him! His outfit really is fabulous - so much detail! Sounds like you have some excellent props for him already, too - can't wait to see what trouble he gets into! Thanks a bunch for sharing pics of all the different skin tones - very cool to see the differences and really great that you have such wonderful diversity in your collection! I'd love to get a tan one someday. And thank you for the well wishes, too! I was able to take a pic of her today, which I'll share after I catch-up with this fast moving thread. Eloise looks adorable in this pic, LadyCrow! She even has her own tablet - how cute is that?! Sad to hear that, MissEmily! Glass eyes still look nice in them and some people actually prefer them, but the first owner should have valued and cared for those eyes better. I've actually never had them out of my Persons' heads. I just think they fit their style so well. No harm is asking her, mdonline! I agree with aernath on that. She probably does have some still available. I agree that I think they add something special to the dolls. As far as being a newb - no need to apologize there! We've all been newbies before and I'm thankful to everyone who helped me out. With regard to clothes, it's Lati Yellow that they can wear, though some Lati Yellow can be a little wide or short on them. However, most works okay. Middie Blythe dresses can work well, too. There are also some Etsy sellers who make clothes specifically for Persons, too. Your boys are adorable, aernath! Love the names you gave them, too - they really fit them! And wow - you made a fringed jacket and bell-bottom?! That's cool! Can't wait to see them!
Without further ado, Here Comes the Bride... I'll try to take some more pics of her soon, as this one was just a quick one and she looks especially lovely in profile.
Oh, don't be sorry, welcome! We were all newbies once As for what fits, you can usually get away with things for Lati Yellow and Pukifee -- they'll likely be too short and sometimes too wide, but it's a place to start -- and there are lots of things for those two lines. Irrealdoll Enyo/Ino/Dryo are similar sized too but sometimes just as hard to find and some Middie Blythe stuff can work, hit or miss. If you have something specific in mind, Spampy makes custom stuff for Persons (and all tinies, really). She's closed right now but she opens up orders fairly regularly. You put your name on her list and she contacts you when it's your turn. She's very nice and the clothes are well made, reasonable and fit perfectly. Another option is to do a search for Secretdoll on Etsy-- depending on who's got stock, ican'tdance, nettlefromspace, dollily and feltland all have done work for Persons. Hope that helps! That's an awesome jacket, aernath, well done, you! Bell bottoms look good too. *Wubba Ducky, you're the one... * LOL! Now I've got that as an ear worm ... duckies totally count! eta: Oh Cattwo! She's gorgeous!! Wow. Her outfit looks beautiful as well. I think the Wedding clothes have been exceedingly well done and were really worth it. I'd love to see her profile. Have you chosen a name yet?
Cattwo & icicle - thank you so much for the welcoming understanding and the little tid-bits of info! So helpful! I'm making my list now. Cattwo your bride is just delightful!
Thank you for your nice comment, icicle! I agree that the outfits for these dolls are very nicely made. I've bought most of the outfits that were available with my Persons and have been delighted with all of them. I know they can be pricey, but there is a fair amount of detail in them, much of it handmade, and I couldn't make anything myself that's as nice. The only Person whose clothes I passed on was my 04 Person of the Past. Her outfit was cute, but nothing I couldn't replicate. I've named her Gwyneth. She just seems like a Gwyneth to me. Thank you for your nice comment, mdonline03! And glad we could help with those tid-bits!
Here's that profile shot, icicle! Are you my Prince? I wish I had better lighting because it's so tough to make out her pretty golden brown eyes.
Cattwo - Wow! But look at all the other pretty colored things! What a gorgeous gown! That bride outfit is very nice, but... wow! And thanks! Wilfred just totally looked like a Wilfred to me, and then I was on a "W" kick with Wilson. I figure the next one I get will be a Wallace. lol Actually, Wilfred's wearing the jacket and pants. See? The bell-bottoms came out not so bell bottomy. Wilfred - SecretDoll Person 17 by aernath, on Flickr icicle - That song was totally in my head all day! Had to share. mdonline03 - We still have the same tastes! I only have two girls in my entire crew. And these little boys just swept me off my feet! They're just so cute. So much character! They are a bit top-heavy, and a little fiddly for me with their small bodies and my huge hands. But I still love them! And I will be angsting about getting that 04 all the way up to the deadline to order! So many other actual bills to pay first. MissEmily - Ouch! That sucks! My boys aren't currently wearing their SecretDoll eyes, but I am definitely keeping them safe. I may go back to them eventually.
Gwyneth certainly suits her, as does her princess dress. Such a refined young miss. I see she has the same tastes in art as my daughter -- if it's a cat, she loves it! I do too.
Thank you, aernath! I had that gown for quite some time and finally got around to using it. It was made for another doll - can't recall which one, maybe a Puki or Lati. Anyway, I fell in love with it before I even had a doll I knew for sure could fit in it - lol! Glad my Persons can wear it. I love the fringed jacket! It's so cute and really fits his personality! His pants look nice, too! Boys like to wear them baggy like that and he looks great in them! I'd love to get a boy like yours - they really are adorable! And yes, do name your next one Wallace! You'd have a real band name then - Wilfred, Wilson and Wallace! Gosh, how cute is that?! Thank you, icicle! This one just seems to have a very girly, romantic vibe to her. I think my other, regular eyed 21 does, too. The 08's are the contemplators or conspirators - they look quiet, but you know they're up to something. And 04's just seem grumpy and bossy to me. The 15's are happy-go-lucky sorts and the 17's seem thoughtful and sweet. That's how I see their personalities, but I know everyone sees them differently - that's what makes them so much fun! And yes, cats are big with me, hence my moniker. My first bjd was actually a cat, too - an Elfdoll Catsy. The very one you see in my avatar. Have more stuff for them than any other doll, hence that kitty painting
OMG!! Gwyneth and the boys are so darn adorable!! I love Gwyneth's dresses!! And i love that leather jacket!! Where did you find the guitar? I'd love one for Hubby! Gosh,I'm loving these Persons so much!! For some reason i can't seem to get a photo to load on here tonight. I've tried everything! Eloise had been enjoying some new comic books,i wish you could see them. I did post photos on Flickr if you're on there. Sent from my SPH-D710BST using Tapatalk
To share a photo from flikr, there should be a little arrow in the bottom right corner of the photo's display page. Click on that, then click on the "BBC code", then choose your size (I resize before I load photos on to flikr, so I usually use " original" size) and then right click on the line of code it gives you (it should highlight blue) then "paste" that code in here. That should post your photo then. On! And I got the guitar from a Japanese Figma. I actually bought the entire Figma - doll with faceplates, outfit, and guitar - just for that guitar!
I'm using my mobile or my tablet. No right clicking, no mouse. Taptalk app isn't working right for me as it usually does. I'll keep trying. Eloise is waving hello to all. Sent from my SPH-D710BST using Tapatalk
Oooooh. I haaaaate trying to do anything with my tablet other than just simple replies here. I save all the picture sharing for when I'm on my laptop or desktop. Glad to know it's not just me, though! Seriously! I thought I just wasn't getting it or something. ~.~ I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes. Especially with new technology.
Loving all the photos. I really must take photographs of my crew. I have two from the Aqua release that I still haven't photographed. So, who will be ordering? I hope to soon but I'm still undecided on which of the open eye versions to go for but I think it will be need boy.
Thank you for your nice comment, LadyCrow! I hope you're able to post pics of your Eloise again soon! I'll be sure to go check her out with her comic books on flickr! Oh, yes, please do take some pics of your crew, smudge! I'd love to see your two from the Aqua collection! That was such a nice collection, too!
Does anyone know of a company that sells wigs like the fine mohair ones that come with the Persons please? Thanks very much in advance for any information anyone can give me!
