I'm loving everyone's new posted pix! icicle Thanks for posting the pix of the camper. I checked all your pictures out on flickr and it encouraged me to hunt a camper down. I had a Target hold one, they said they'd hold it for 24 hours...of course when I went to pick it up, they didn't have it on hold. Luckily, they had one left! They also had the loft and some furniture sets. I'm kind of feeling like I should pick up some of the furniture sets. The loft is cool as well. I've been wanting some kind of "modern" type doll house. If anyone has a good place to look for a modern dollhouse or DIY dollhouse information, it would be appreciated. I'm trying to keep space in mind as well I don't want to take over my real house with doll things!
Silly Target! I'm glad you found one though -- it's a great size for tinies, and it's not completely pink! I'm eyeing the desk set, though for the life of me, I can't quite figure out what the two yellow balls on the shelf are supposed to be -- lights? I dunno, but I have a little French school girl that would love it. Same for the ballet studio. I haven't actually seen it but I think it might work for an apartment. That loft is a winner too. Such a good size for a complete house. Lol -- oh it's a slippery slope, miniatures! I prefer modern too and while there isn't as much out there for that style, there are a few blogs. Kris Compass does some amazing diy tutorials and I think 1:12 works particularly well with small Person hands, so I don't feel it's off topic to give the list here, in case others are interested-- DIY -- Kris Compas' Dollhouse Miniature Furniture : http://1inchminisbykris.blogspot.com/ Amber's House : http://amberatti.blogspot.com/ Mitchy Moo : http://mitchymoominiatures.blogspot.com/ Nancy Enge : http://nancyland.com/welcome/ The Miniature Garden : http://theminiaturegarden.blogspot.com/ Eye Candy/Inspiration/Shopping Guides -- Mini Obsession : https://miniobsession.wordpress.com/ Mini Mod Pod : http://minimodpod.blogspot.com/ Mini Modern : http://minimodern.blogspot.com/ Modern Mini Houses : http://modernminihouses.blogspot.com/
Thanks icicle for all the great links. I like modern/contemporary too. I am in San Antonio on business and remembered there was a Target close by. I stopped and found the camper! I picked up a couple outfits to see how they work for other dolls. They did have 2 ballet studios but no loft or car. There was someone last week that had picked up an extra camper on another group. It was going to cost almost as much to ship as the camper itself cost so I passed. I did message her tonight to see if she still has it available. If anyone is interested and she still has it I can put you in touch.
OK, you convinced me, I'm going to go to our Target stores in person, just in case! *fingers crossed* Wow! Love the links! Soooo much stuff!
::::enable enable enable:::: And while you're there, don't forget to check out the Lori OG clothes too -- Secretdoll Person in Lori OG dress by christina, on Flickr
I did! I FOUND the camper! They had only one in stock (and two cars), but had all the girls and all the outfits and some furniture that tempted me, but not enough $$ so just grabbed the camper and ran. Plus, the clothes are all skirts and dresses, with one pants outfit that had some lace ruffles on it. The boys would kill me. Did you get two sets of utensils and dishes? I only got one, so found an email address and wrote to them asking what to do to get a second set. I haz two boys. So cool that those dresses fit! Too bad my boys refuse to wear them. And green is perfect for your little red-head there. ^_^
aernath - Congrats on the score! The Lori outfit I bought was jeans with a long sleeved top & purse. The jeans may work for the boys but the rest would be a bust. I picked up an OG mini doll for the outfit; another pair of jeans and a top & pink trench coat.
Excellent! Yeah, I did realize after I wrote that the boys might not be interested in the clothes :P I only got one set too -- I know, right? who wants to go car camping alone?? Whoa -- and now for something completely different: MUWA 29 cm http://www.secretdoll.com//board/bo...e=v&num1=999990&num2=00000&lock=N&flag=notice
Congrats on finding the camper, aernath! Hope you and your Persons have tons of fun with it! That's an adorable pic, icicle! And thank you for sharing that link to Secretdoll's new doll, Muwa! She's very cute, but I think I'll be sticking to my Persons. Tough enough to find time to enjoy them, let alone any more new dolls.
icicle - hey, they wrote me back quickly and said they would get the second set of dishes and utensils out to me right away! I gave them my address when I first wrote them, so they just needed my phone number for shipping. OGdolls at battatco dot com Oh noooo! Not more cute dolls! Those would be about YoSD size, right? At least I have clothes for that size already. What am I saying? No! Must resist!
Wow -- that's service! I'm tempted coz that jade green is a great retro vibe. Thanks for passing along the info! The 29 cm Muwas will be slightly bigger than a traditional Yosd which are 25 or 26 cm. I've had a similar size (Momocolor, Lati Green) and YoSD stuff usually works fine, just a bit short in the sleeve and leg. Sometimes action figure clothes work too depending on how wide the bjds are... Cattwo -- I'll be passing as well. They don't have the grumpy charm of a big headed Person to me. Pure cute doesn't last long around here... I was hoping for another Person release (not that I can afford it, really ) but I think the huge summer selection and the new basics are all we'll get for a bit with Muwa showing up.
The Muwa are cute, but I want to get a Person. I have to now as I got the camper. I have other tinies of course but I just think it suits the Persons. I have been holding off as I have a Dollstown mini out for face up at the moment. But I need to move on it soon before they are gone.
Yay! Another camper! If we buy enough of them, maybe that will encourage them to make more nifty things in that size! Yes, I was hoping for more Persons too. And, I can't afford one ATM either. So it's just as well. I really liked all the tan Persons this summer! I hope they do more of them in the future.
Sniff...sob...I went to my Target...twice!! No glamper ..no Lori dolls at all. I am so sad. I looked online...nothing. On a more cheerful note my big eye 21 should ship in next two weeks...getting excited. Ahhh...congrats to all on their camping acquisitions My 21 will have to rough it. Love all the pics
Oh no! I've been finding all the Lori items on an end cap, facing the games -- don't give up hope. Congrats on the 21 -- is she a Summer Limited or a Basic? You know, she may not like camping anyway...
Thanks for all the pics and for the information about the OG stuff, you are so lucky in the US that your shops carry things like this....or in Latedate_kate's case...NOT! I hope they come in soon for you Kate and am sure you will get what you want Aernath, love that expression, "slide like snot no matter what", never heard that one before! Made me laugh out loud. And the boys do look like they're enjoying their trip! I absolutely love the school room photo Cattwo, that teacher looks a bit of a grump, but then again, anyone with that many Persons in her glass would soon be grumpy even if she started out like Maria from the Sound of Music!!! Valentine is grumpy again.....she got a new 'mechano' car and I've not let her make it up yet. Soon though!
latedate_kate - Oh nooo! Like icicle said though, I found mine on an endcap. The regular place for Our Generation things didn't have them at all. I was disappointed and just went walking through the rest of the toys just to see if anything "good" popped up, and there were the girls and the campers! They were a few aisles away from the regular OG girls. Keep an eye out! They might stock up eventually! Especially in time for Christmas, I would guess. dambuster01 - Awww, but Valentine is so cute when she's grumpy! lol A 'mechano' car? I'm curious now... LOL, and thanks! "Slicker than snot" was a phrase my dad taught me waaaaay back when I was little. Glad to pass it on! My boys now have a car each, but Wilson is busy hanging out in the camper, while Wilfred spins around in his car alone. lol It's kind of windy today, but I might be able to get a couple of pix... EDIT: Here we go! The boys playing cops n robbers... Wilson, Wilfred - Secret Doll Persons 21 and 17 by aernath, on Flickr
What a wonderful picture! I'm glad I came to visit this thread, I'll have to stop by my Target --- all of these things are great!
aernath That picture is just far too cute! Of course, I'm more than tempted and when I get some extra monies I'll have to order a car too. Which color box did they come in? icicle I'm glad you posted a picture of that outfit. I purchased them same one and was debating opening it. Congrats everyone on your finds!! I broke down and ended up purchasing not just the camper, but the loft and all the furniture sets as well. I couldn't resist with the price being so reasonable. I'm wanting to make or print out some cute pics to hang on the walls of the loft...figure out some ways to personalize it a bit.
They look adorable in those cars, aernath! Perfect scale for them, too! Okay, put me down as another who succumbed to glamp-fluenza! And thanks to icicle for spreading it around! I asked my DH to check for it when he went out yesterday, because I knew he might go by one of the Targets in the area. He came home with one and I think it can work well with some of my other small dolls, too, and not just the Persons. For some reason, I have this burning desire to make a striped awning for the window, like I've seen on some of the real ones. Not sure how to do that, though. I actually have a small diecast silver Airstream that I've had for about ten years now, but it's a 1:18 scale, so too small for dolls, unless they're super tiny, like my Fortune Frogs at 2 inches.
icicle, your pictures are wonderful! The Camper is adorable and looks great in your photos! Cattwo, this picture is great! I love all of the details! And a striped awning for your camper --- genius! I was happy to find the camper just now at my Target, and got a few of the mini dolls for their outfits. The tops fit really well!
Aw I want a caravan too! I wish we had Target here. Everyone's photos are so cute! edit: I just looked on eBay and there is a camper on there at $82! I'm guessing that they don't cost that in the store.
Thank you, happibug! And congrats on your new camper, too! I'm looking forward to seeing your Persons in their new clothes, since I didn't pick up my camper myself, I missed out on seeing everything that's available in this cute line. I really hope a store picks up this line to sell in the UK, too, smudge! Or the maker sells them online and will ship them. They're big, but they're not that heavy. The retail price on the camper is $34.99. Of course, they'll always ask way more for it on eBay.
A few of the Persons hanging out in their new Camper! Route 66 or bust! The striped ruffle dress & pink striped Tee & corduroy skirt are both from the Lori line, too (I just took the skirt in a little).
Wow!! Soon we'll have enough campers to open our own little Person Park! I'm glad they're catching on -- the Lori line has lots for Persons to commandeer. And yeah, like kcoconuts said -- after bjd sticker shock, it all seems so reasonable, lol! Cattwo -- I've been working on my glamper. It's easy to customize and an awning is on my list too. And curtains. Here's what I did with a sheet of scrapbook paper (59 cents at Hobby Lobby): glamper reno by christina, on Flickr I took down the top bunk since it's a home for Edie, not a traveling camper but as happibug has it, it looks like there's room for more than one big head in there. Gosh, I can't wait to see what everyone else does with them ...
That's so cool! Love seeing all the glampers! Yes, I balked at that $80 price on ebay as well, that's why I was going to wait until our local Target listed it online as in stock. Thankfully, I was convinced otherwise on here, and went to look in person and found it! The cars were actually in a white box. Well, one was. I got a great deal on the racer car because it didn't come with a box or certificate. My advice: if it says "ornament" ANYWHERE in the title, don't get it. Also, look at the pictures. If it has a little eye hook in the steering wheel, it's an ornament and too small. "Hallmark Kiddie Car Classics" is what you're looking for. These are the ones I got: (scroll past the clutter) http://www.ebay.com/itm/301717011324?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT http://www.ebay.com/itm/252069291833?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT The racer type is also a little tighter fit than the boxy type cars. They fit, but you have to fiddle with the feet and I had to take my boy's shoes off to get him in there. And here's the search string: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Kiddie-Car-Classics-/973/i.html I almost got a fire engine first, but then saw the cop car and knew after seeing so many race cars, I had to get that (and a race car). And definitely look for a deal! Many of the cars are mint in box and expensive. Now I need to go look at scrapbook paper. You guys have such good ideas for personalizing the campers, I was just sparkly-eyed about getting one and didn't even think of changing anything! lol And yet here I am, in a hobby that is all about customization! re the campers: Oh, and if you only get one set of dishes and silverware, ask for the second set. It's listed on the contents as having two sets, they just missed that in shipping and are more than happy to send the second set. ^__^
I love the customization on your Glamper icicle, and it is a bonus you were able to do it so cheaply! I haven't had the opportunity to even open mine as I had to leave a day after I got back home for NJ. I checked he Target near my hotel tonight and they had 2 of the lofts and a few dolls and outfits. The camper was bad enough dragging through the airport and plane. No way I was going to attempt it with the loft! I haven't seen the car yet. I am impressed with all the items I have seen; very reasonably priced and sturdy.
icicle, that looks amazing! I love what you've done, what a great idea! aernath, thanks for the info about the dishes! My target doesn't have the loft, but I really want one. Stalking all of the targets in the area is in my future, I guess!
OK; I have figured out what Person I want to order. I have her named. I can't figure out how to place the layaway order. I know you download the form. But when I go to Checkout, the options are "Deposit Account" and PayPal. Paypal wants to take all the money right away and the order isn't completed since I cancelled out of the payment. I get an error I must enter a bank when I select "Deposit Account". Help; Madge's life depends upon it!
Coleen - there's some info about the layaways in the Secretdoll person thread #4 - http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...-Picture-Doll-Person-discussion-part-4/page44 --- post #875. I hope that will help! Madge is waiting for you! Edited to add --- I think I did the steps shown there for the layaway, and then just remitted the payment for the first 1/2 of my costs --- sent it as a paypal payment directly to secretdoll, referencing the order #. I hope someone else can chime in and give you a little more definitive help!
I wish we could make that post a sticky somewhere! Because that IS so confusing on the SD site. I remember panic and having to ask SD what to do. They were very understanding and nice though! coleen - Go, go, go! Bring Madge home!
Heh, yeah, that was my post. Please down to this form and fill it on Q&A board message. Basically, you put Madge in your cart, go thru check out and select 'Bank' not paypal (which will charge the full amount at once as you noticed)as the form of payment. It should go through. Next, fill out the above form for 2 or 3 payments and go to Paypal directly. Make the first payment (40%) and copy&paste the form in the description area along with your name, address and SD ID name and order number. Hit send. Wait for confirmation email. Go back to SD Q&A. Open up a new message, select 'Layaway' as the header. Copy in the form and write that the first payment has been made, your name, address, SD ID name. order number etc. I usually include the paypal transaction number too though I don't know if that helps. Hit 'write' to send. SD should respond to your Q&A with confirmation of payment received. Repeat the paypal and Q&A message for each layaway payment. coleen -- feel free to PM me if you need help. I've done this a lot
Great pic, happibug! Those outfits look wonderful on your girls! I'll definitely have to check out more in this line soon. Wow - love the customizations you've made to it, icicle! Came out beautiful and added even more of a retro feel to it! "Person Park" - lol! I was starting to think the same thing. Maybe we should all book now for Yellowstone next year. Thank you for sharing all that great info, aernath! Despite it being more difficult for them to use, I do favor the race car because your boy looks so perfect in it. Times like this, I really wish I had gotten a boy, too. Congrats on figuring out which one you want and good luck with your order, coleen! It is tricky, but you've been given some great advice here and I hope it goes smoothly for you!
Edie invited her best friend Mavis over after work for drinks and asked to borrow her sewing machine to make curtains. Mavis thinks it's about time Edie put something up on those windows, for goodness sake! Edie & Mavis by christina, on Flickr
What a cute pic, icicle! Nice tray of goodies they have, too! That fruit slice on their ice tea glasses is such a great touch!
icicle, I love it! So cute. I love their headwraps, too. I'm so excited to have found a loft on the way home from work today! My Persons are feeling suitably gratified at all of these new goodies!
Thanks icicle. Madge has booked her reservation for Ohio. She's already made much of her character known. And true to Personhood she has a list of "must haves." She is a Person 21. She's a chocoholic; so much so that she vapes chocolate mint! Though she is trying to cut back. She says she also needs her friends Mabel and Millie (Big Eye and Narrow Eye Person 21). Her glamper camper is waiting for her but after seeing Edie's she isn't going to be satisfied until she has had a makeover. Slippery slope and I've lost my footing. happibug - Congrats on finding the loft! The problem with these goodies is that they are not boxed. Keeps the cost down I'm sure, but difficult to take on a plane! LOL!
I went target shopping in Columbus today & it was a jackpot as far as Lori OG. They had a loft, ballet studio, 3 cars, 3 campers, student desk set and 2 others I don't remember. Plus outfits. However, I had left my wallet at home by accident. So I only picked up the lawn chaise set. Because my dil paid for it!
Wow, they had a lot! I want to check out some of the furniture, I'll have to go back and see if any has arrived at my Target! Meanwhile, the Persons are having a great time in their loft and camper ... beers on the rooftop, etc.!
a new addition New tan Summer 21 Person by kate, on Flickr she looks rather...regal! I cannot think of a fitting adjective. She has ears...we are just staring at each other. Yes, I freed her from the bubble wrap immediately! hmmmm I love those cars aernath
Yay! New girl on the block! And look at all that attitude! Even without a wig, she's bursting with sarcasm! Love it! And she's such a lovely color! So glad more people are finding the fun Lori stuff for their Persons! And icicle, your crew are great as always! So much work put into the Glamper! I feel I'm falling behind! I want to make some stuff for the boys' camper, but just can't seem to find the time. Eventually! I will! Even if it's Christmas by the time I get around to anything...
Wow, she's stunning! Self assured, for sure ---... gosh, the ears are so normal, it's kinda weird, lol! Weird in a good way Congratulations! Well, it would be an awesome Christmas surprise for them then! I just had some down time and got a head start. There won't be as much happening in the near future with school and extra activities coming into full swing now. I'm kinda stuck on curtain rods so I need to experiment a bit, I think.
Thanks aernath and icicle! She does look rather 'normal'...I think that's why I am neither hot nor cold. I have her dressed and she found a PERSONal Assistant already. Not sure how long he's gonna last though
latedate_kate - congratulations on your new arrival. She has lovely coloring. Does she have a name or character yet? icicle and aernath - it is too bad real life gets in the way of our doll projects! I bought my camper 2 weeks ago and haven't even had the time to open it. I finally have a week off the road next week and plan to start customizing. Anyone have the link for a site where you can have custom fabric printed? I know what I have in mind but may have trouble finding it and may have to go that route.
Yep, it's Spoonflower... They do all sorts of custom print fabrics and even gift wrap and wallpaper now. If you don't have a file to print, you can find someone who'll design one for you or you can browse all the ones up on offer. It can get pricey, quickly, but you get exactly what you want.
Congratulations, latedate_kate! She's gorgeous! Love her face-up and skin tone! Ooh and she has ears, too - how cool! Enjoy her to the max! I haven't done anything to mine, either. Just haven't had time to work on it. But I saw your Glamper improvements in flickr, icicle! You did a great job giving it those nice little touches of "home" for your Persons!
Yes, Spoonflower! Thanks aernath and icicle. Saw some prints I really liked, though many were too large in scale.
Thanks all of you for her welcome! she has drafted/conscripted Liam into service...as her Person-al Asst. However he is not behaving in an acceptable manner. His constant giggling while mumbling "your Highness" is causing flatulence & making his nose run which she finds gross ..."get a grip! and a Kleenex! in extra-large!" what am I doing with this guy? You re fired! by kate, on Flickr haven't settled on a name for her....considering Enola -which is "alone" backwards (and I am not that clever lol...it's from the Enola Holmes Mysteries) since I doubt I will have another Person! Looking forward to all the modified Glampers! and more Summer Persons...hello...are you there?
I love that story about Liam ... very funny! And Enola is a great name, I love that - alone backwards! She is beautiful, congratulations! I would have loved one of the summer persons but I couldn't get one this time around.
latedate_kate Your girl is lovely and I bet she knows it! The story of Liam acting out cracks me up. As for the Camper, I've had mine for a few weeks now and havent opened it. I did unwrap the loft and furniture and put it all together, but I havent taken any pix yet.
I finally found the new thread! I wanted to share the dress kit I've made for Felix, which was quite a feat for me and my non-existing sewing skills. But now she finally has a dress in the colours of her hat. We still need shoes: Now I'm going to read the thread ;p
Oh WOW - that is a gorgeous outfit! She looks fabulous. My girl is on her way from the US to here and I am dying to meet her!
Stella what a great outfit! I would say you have some sewing skill for sure! And her hat is amazing! Felix looks pretty pleased :-) Thanks happibug and kcoconuts....but I was wrong on my 21. Finally getting her personality ( she's actually the quiet type) and gave her a new name- Philomena or Phil for short. Enola is a great name tho...I just made the mistake of naming her before I saw her.
Thanks! With these kits even I can produce a decent result, it's just cutting out the pre-printed pattern and sewing things together. About fabric printing, a couple of years ago I've bought some A4 size fabric sheets online, in cotton and silk and printed it myself on my own inkjet printer with patterns I made myself. It worked out very well. It's holding up beautifully too, the colours are still going strong.
Stella, love that outfit, it's so perfect for a Person....great colours! Kate, Phil is so cute....as is her sidekick....love his cherry hat! Gorgeous photos of Persons, I have been missing for weeks and weeks and Valentine has been very unhappy with me for 'neglecting' her whilst I've been sewing for other sized dolls. However, she did get a new skateboard and finally I got around to some photos....which incidentally are not great as I took them with the sun blinds down on our deck and being yellow and orange, have given everything a very yellowy hue! Oh well! Valentine is finally a bit happy......well you can see that on her face, can't you?
I think the lighting works well, and she's just so darned cute! I liked your picture of her zooming along on the board too. ^_^
