It's hard to keep up on here! I havent had the opportunity to take proper pix yet, but 2 new girls joined our home a few days ago. The blonde I'm probably changing her hair to red. The tan colored girl, Hattie, usually wears blond hair.

 

What a cute crew you have! So glad to see them!

 

You're very welcome, dambuster01! I think they're all fairly simple styles, so I hope you find one that will work. You can always tweak them and trim them a little to suit your doll's style better. I've done that to mohair wigs before - I find them easier to work with than other types of fiber wigs.

Congratulations on your new girls' arrival, kcoconuts! What wonderful faces all your girls have! They look so sweet and adorable together, too!

 

I'm excited to say that I have put a Person on layaway.....finally I have a tanned girl coming!! She is a #21 from the Person of the Past release. She won't be home until mid July and I can hardly wait! It seems all my bjds are turning 'tanned' Must be the Spanish sunshine.

This is Secretdoll's photo obviously, so hope it's OK to share it here Her name is Valentine and she will probably have red hair, not sure yet though.

I ordered a red glib wig for the blonde girl this morning. She is stubborn and hasnt told me her name.

 

Congratulations, dambuster01! She was one of my favorites from that collection and I regret not being able to get her or the 17 Persons of the Past, but I had my heart so set on getting a 04 at the time. Anyway, I think she's really lovely and I hope you enjoy having her in your collection!

These Persons are killing me…they are just too dang to be called dolls even. Ugh this is torture because I'm also on the last minute boat. I swear every time I look - I change my mind, then want a pair which I just will not allow myself to do (I think).

Any special Person tips I should know about? I saw some posts saying that they can be kicky (but that's fine for me). I don't care so much about posing…I think I also read they are a little top heavy? (that's fine too for me)… so I dunno...

I think I got the clothing sizes down and wigs but don't think I'll change them from their 70s get ups.

Oh maybe this…does anyone know roughly hour often the limiteds are released and are the regular picture dolls always available or do they sell out/have purchase periods? Tryin to catch up…trying to catch up.

 

I think someone needs to set an alarm so we all remember to re-evaluate on the 24th of July. I'll likely be waiting for the last day too.

mdonline -- The basic Persons are usually available at any time although Secretdoll did pull them a few months ago for an overhaul. They were brought back with new makeup options and a no makeup option. In other words, like any bjd company, you never really know what they're up to and for how long things will stay the same!

The older Persons were extremely kicky but they have been redesigned a few times and that is no longer much of an issue. Top heavy for sure, with that noggin!, but now they can actually stand on their own much more easily too. Still, propping heads against the wall is a time honored Person thing

I ordered her a red wig from MUDoll yesterday but then when I came to pay I forgot to put the order number on the paypal payment.....what an idiot I am! Particularly as my email address that I'm registered on their site with and my paypal one are completely different. I hope they understand my message to them, I did include a screen print of the payment. I don't know what I was thinking. Or wasn't thinking, as the case may be!

MDonline, you ask if there is anything you should know about the Persons.....well here is the most important thing, they can be very very naughty, you cannot leave them unattended and have to have eyes in the back of your head. Here is an old photo of mine. The #21 has gone to live in Canada, and is going to be replaced with a tan girl.....but she was less of a handful than Kobi, the redhead #8.......

Thanks! really good intel. I had thought that the Persons were sold out or unavailable or "something" like that. So it must have been when they were doing their overhaul when I went-a-poking after seeing one at a doll meet.

Hahaha…that picture is hilarious great warning! I better warn all of my other dolls that their peaceful existence will be ending shortly. A new Person will be arriving….mmmwhahah.

LOL thanks Ladycrow, aernath and Cattwo ....glad you enjoyed seeing the photo. Honestly though, I'm grey before my time with those two, it's the reason I had to let Percy (#21) go and live in Canada earlier this year. She was beginning to get traumatised by Kobi's bad behaviour
I'm hoping that the new #21 will be a bit more 'gutsy' and be able to hold her own against this little minx!!

How do you go about cleaning your dolls, if needed?

Also, someone told me that if I wanted to keep a wig in place, I could use a bit of elmers glue. They said it wouldn't stain or damage the doll. I know I can use wig caps too. any thoughts or advice?

Last night, the girls were entertaining my youngest daughter. She got out her little camera and took pictures of the girls during a wubba party!

 

kcoconuts, looks like your daughter is getting the photo all lined up properly and everything! Never too young to start them on doll photos I don't think! I love the look of concentration on her face too, bless her!!

Cleaning is easy with Mr Clean Magic Eraser.
And to hold on wigs, there is Velcro with a sticky back. I usually use that. But my Persons came with silicone wig caps, so I use those for them.
I have heard of using hot glue on the wig cap, and I think that would work just fine. I use hot glue to suede many of my other dolls, and there are no adverse effects.
Elmer's should work too. I use it for holding on non-drilled earrings.

 

I just glop some hot glue on the head for the wig to grip. If it's really fiddly I'll actually glue the wig on with it but I've only done that with some really teeny dolls; haven't needed to for my Persons.

 

Thanks everyone for the useful info and all the nice comments! My daughter loves playing with the dolls along with me. She has a few of her own Blythe dolls, as do I. With these girls, I keep a close eye on her!

 

I got nothing to add…other than I constantly stalk this thread cause these troublemakers cheer me up to no end. I'm still un-decided who'll come home with me. I'm so torn. I love the boys but I haven't really seen too many options for boy clothes. I've been googling a lot! There's TONS for girls…so I feel like I'm switching gears. I love the Narrow eyes Person 21 basic. I just adore her little open mouth. I can just image her stuffing it with chocolates and sweets and then running around on a sugar high causing havoc.

By the way what do you folks think of the company face ups? Do most of you get your Persons with them or do you send them out? I'm liking what I'm seeing…but also I know sometimes the company photo and the actual are a bit different.

 

The two I have gotten were spot on, just like the photos!
Good luck deciding! I think I am going to stick with the two I already have for now. Other, bigger dolls taking precedence.

 

All of my Persons (6 now, I think!) have the factory face-ups and they look beautiful, in my opinion - just like the photos. I think they do a wonderful job!

I love that mental image of your possible person 21 running around on a sugar high! Great description!

Edited to add: I've had 9 total, I think --- I sold three earlier on, but now they just multiply! :P

 

I've seen some beautiful custom face-ups on these dolls, mdonline03, but mine all have Secretdoll ones. They are all spot-on accurate to the dolls shown on her site and quite lovely.

I really like the company faceups and think they are very much like their website photos. I only had my (since adopted out) #21 repainted by Vainilladolly because I accidentally damaged the lips then in trying to 'fix' it, ended up removing the whole faceup. I got her repainted just like the original!

Aren't they lovely! I really like several of them!

Hopefully I will pay off the balance on my tanned Person #21 this weekend! I am really looking forward to her arriving, I received her wig today from MUdoll

 

I love that photo of all the new releases together - I just wish the two I wanted were next to each other so I could decide which one to get!

I had no plans to buy a Person but I LOVE the new releases! I just can't decide between Person 04 or Big Eyes Person 04.

 

It seems like once you fall for them, you fall hard!

My girl arrived today, her name is Valentine and she is a #21 Person of the Past and I love her!! She's sooooo cute and grumpy. She's already having a good old moan about the fact that she's been here all day now and I still haven't made her anything new to wear....never mind the fact that she has a mountain of clothes to choose from. Her argument is that although this 'stuff' might be 'new to her' it just isn't NEW new!!!! Oh and she insisted on a Minion! (Between us, I thought that as far as Persons are concerned, everyone is a Minion!!! (Now I just need to find the right wire to wire her legs and hot glue gun for her joints as her legs are all over the place!)

I have noticed something with my girl, one of her feet doesn't seem to sit right, it tends to turn outwards, and not lie flat on the floor.....like it doesn't sit right in the bottom of the leg part/ankle. Has anyone else noticed this with theirs?

 

It never gets old looking at this thread and it never fails to make me guffaw out loud when I see them. But boy I am really waiting til the last minute to decide to get one of their limiteds…cause they're tan or get a basic. Totally inside thoughts spewing on the page…

Thank you mdonline03, glad you like them! I make mine myself. This particular outfit was made ages ago, I made the shorts for a Lati I think and the top was for a Pocket Fairy! The hat was actually made for my since adopted out Person and the socks were bought many years ago for Riley Kish.

If you look at my group photo, you'll see Enid stands very differently than the others (she's oldest) and that her feet don't quite sit flat on the ground. There was a leg redesign for that release but it was redesigned again shortly after. My other newer Persons don't have that problem. And least it means she's authentic!

mdonline03 -- Thanks! Their suits were made by Spampy. I show her a photo of the style I want and pick fabrics/colors, and she sews my ideas -- like magic...
