Secretdoll - Picture Doll Person - discussion part 4

When they confirmed my last layaway payment, I was told they would start shipping Cats on March 13th -- not long now. I didn't order right away so I don't expect her for a few weeks yet. Gives me time to appreciate the Couples.

 

The wedding couples are so cute! I am always immediately drawn to the 21's, though. I wonder why? Oh, yes, I already have two 21's! I always love seeing the new releases. The wedding 21 with the narrow eyes is beautiful!

 

I really love the two tans, but I don't like the facial hair. It's cute, but I would want them to be girls!!

 

The narrow 21 is lovely again of course, sheesh if I didn't have the cat already on order... The clothes are really lovely on both the brides and grooms too! I like that they really strive to give different attitudes to the different dolls with each release; the 17 looks goofy and the 8 looks very sombre.

 

I like the Wedding person 8, but not quite enough to actually order them.

I just received the sweetest note from Secretdoll telling me my Cat 21 will ship out on the 20th and apologizing for not sending her on the 13th like the Q&A note said. I never once suspected they actually meant to ship her then -- I honestly thought that was when Cats would start shipping in general. Wow! Secretdoll is awesome!

I got a note from Secretdoll, too, though I hadn't asked about the shipping date. She told me my Cat would ship out on the 20th, too, but when I just checked, there was still no tracking number. Did you get a tracking number, icicle?

On another note, I went over to look at Snidely Whiplash and realized there is a 'Mustache' option! I think I'd choose to keep it, but if anyone's on the fence about the Grooms, no 'stache necessary...

 

No movement here, either, icicle - could it be possible she shipped them, but didn't enter the tracking numbers yet? Seems a little strange that she sent us notes saying they were being shipped on the 20th and then nothing. Why bother with the notes? I did reply to the one she sent, asking about it, but no reply back yet.

Good to know about those mustaches - thanks for posting that! They would make great girls, too.

No shipping news for me either. I don't think they'd send without updating tracking. There were some Cats-in-Progress photos on the FB page. I bet they're still running a bit behind. I didn't order right away so I didn't expect to get one of the first ones out anyway. Perhaps the notes were optimistic and more general in nature than they implied -- like most bjd companies!

Gosh, now that I know the mustaches are optional, I keep thinking I might get a Big Eyed 08 Groom sans 'stache and make her a flapper girl. That wig, those eyes, a fringed dress... I'm starting to see it...

Thanks for your nice comment about my 04! She's from "The Person of the Past" collection. It's funny that I fell for these dolls due to an 04, yet she was the last one I got of the three. The other two are from the "Person in the Universe" collection.

Thanks for mentioning Facebook, too! I took a look and it does look like they're still in progress. I also love the blue eyes my girl will be coming with! I ordered mine on January 15th (16th Korean time). She's an anniversary present from my DH. I was hoping she'd arrive in time, but looks doubtful she'll be here by Friday. When it comes to dolls, I don't get too worked up over them being a little delayed. Main thing is they arrive safely and are well made.

You know, I don't think there was a mustache option originally. Maybe she got a lot of feedback from collectors wanting to be able to turn them into girls, because I could swear I didn't see the ability to opt out when they were first offered. I think it's very smart to do, though. I don't blame you about 08 - he'd make an awesome flapper girl!

 

I thought she might be a 'Past' person -- that whole release was so well done -- you're so lucky! You have a nice trio now and it's wonderful your Cat is an anniversary gift. Last year was our 13th and I got a black bjd cat as my present -- so very late but like you, I'm not too worried as long as I know they will come eventually.

I'll bet you're right about the mustache option. I don't remember it either but thought I'd just not looked too carefully -- that can be dangerous! -- and missed it. I do like the Snidely 'stache but it's easier to put on a fake when needed than ignore one when it's not, lol!

Just checked -- I ordered on January 16th -- I guess we're both in the same batch. I thought I saw auburn lashes next to those pretty blue eyes. Can't be long now.

Congrats, icicle! My Cat Person (Fair 08) just arrived, too. Guess they shipped out on schedule but she just didn't update on the tracking. Sure was a nice surprise, though!

Your girl looks SO lovely and her wig is beautiful, too! Yes, maybe she isn't a factory girl, but more of a glamour-puss. Either way, she's fabulous!

Mine came with a brown mohair wig - I was so happy to see that because I already have a blonde one like the one shown on her on the site. Her eyes are definitely the prettiest of any of my Secretdoll girls - just love this color blue. One other great thing about her is she poses really well - at least right now. Setting up my other three for that last pic was murder - all I could think of, while doing it, was that it's a good thing they don't have ears, because there was a bit of cussing when they kept knocking each other down - lol!

I'll try to take pics of my Cat this weekend to share. In the meantime, congrats again on your girl's arrival, icicle, and thanks for sharing pics of her!

I don't think they had that option of not getting the mustache before either. I definitely would have remembered that. It makes them much more tempting! I'm trying to be strong though. I already have a tan 17, but he's still such a cutie-pie that I'm still tempted! And I don't have an 08, tan or otherwise, and he's a cutie too... I wish I had a ton of spending money!

Posing has definitely improved over the years. There have been at least 3 types of knees and while the newest ones look great, I'm finding my second generation 08 with her obvious peanut cap is holding a stand slightly better than my Cat. Then again it could be that her wig is too heavy when added to her melon head, lol!
She's found another platinum bombshell wig in the box to try tomorrow.

I aways did plan on a bit of glamour -- those lips demand nothing else -- so she may swing between the decades a bit. Sort of a girl who ties up her bandana turban in overalls but never forgets her lipstick who then grows up into a sassy 50s woman. Planning her wardrobe now.... :P

You know, I thought I was going to pass on this limited run but I'm fascinated by the clothes, the shoes and even the mustaches. The poor brides, I've barely given them a second look, but the grooms are hilarious, especially the 08. I like creepy done in a fun way and I'm intrigued to see him done up as a female sans 'stache now. I may have to do it. After all, I don't have a Big Eyed 08 yet... Yep, I'm in the same boat as you!

She looks lovely in her wig, icicle! I think you're right - she can be anything she wants to be, whether a factory girl of a movie star!

As far as standing goes, I really haven't tried that yet, because she's currently wearing her cat suit, but she poses better for sure - no kickiness to her legs. I wasn't even aware of the different body styles - I'll have to go compare her to my other three.

I love the latest collection, too, but I'm more focused on the narrow-eyed bride. I really love her and don't currently own a narrow-eyed 21. She has dreamy quality to her.

 

oooh Cattwo, did you get the maple wig of the tan 08? or something different entirely? I didn't order until the 25th so I figure I have a bit longer for sure. So exciting to see them start to come in! (and that cat-preparation photo- so funny!) I don't think MiyaMaia paid attention at all when I said there was a cat incoming, she was more offended that a Lati also got a new outfit

I think it's a nice wig in that I can get several different looks out of it. She can look a bit waif-like in it, if left as is, or I can curl the hair under to give a neater appearance. It's also just long enough that I can give her tiny pigtails, too.

She's adorable, Cattwo! I do wish I could have gotten the cat suit -- those tiny pompom feet are ridiculously cute. That's a great wig too. It doesn't overwhelm her noggin and I can see it being very versatile as you say. Congrats!

 

Thank you, aernath! To answer your question - no, the mouse did not come with her. It was one of the pieces that came with "Kitty Fun" Barbie. It's where most of the cat accessories came from that I used in the "Waiting for Cat Person" pic.

Thank you, icicle! Being a cat person myself and not being that great at making doll clothes, I just had to have that outfit. I will say - it's very well made and the tail is even wired, so you can pose it different ways. I love the pompom feet, too. It was a nice touch.

 

Ooh, I got a really apologetic email yesterday from Secretdoll saying they were so sorry she was delayed and they weren't shipping my cat on the 2nd as planned but on the 8th instead. Since I really didn't think she'd be ready for a couple weeks I don't mind at all, hehe.

I usually try NOT to get default outfits because I figure if I wasn't lazy I could make something similar, but I convinced myself those ears would be too tricky to make, ha.

 

Cattwo, I adore that photo of your girls waiting for their new ... cat! Hilarious! And your new Cat Person is adorable, I love the photos. Icicle, yours is beautiful, too! I love that wavy side-part wig. Mine should be here in another week or so.

I just looked at the Spring Special Editions ... so cute! The mustaches are quite funny! And the narrow eyes 21 has beautiful make-up.

Okay, I did it. I just put in my order for an 08 Groom, without mustache. I did spring for the outfit -- so many details and those shoes kill me -- but I'm thinking she'll be a girl here. DH did just comment that, dressed up, s/he has an uncanny resemblance to Jack White, so there is that option too, lol!

I feel a bit conflicted -- poor Edie hasn't had much attention since she arrived and here I am getting another. I'm hoping to find time to bond with her on our vacation break next week. Sh did find a more suitable wig:

Congrats on your Groom 08 order, icicle! Your DH has a good eye - as a male, he does resemble Jack White. I was wondering why he looked so familiar and now I know why.

Edie looks sweet in her new wig! I'm sure you'll bond more with her when you can take your break and can spend more time with her - she's so adorable, what's not to love, right?!

 

I think it's obvious who's more hip in my household, coz I see Snidely Whiplash, 70's cartoon villain and he sees Jack White... hmm... one of us is a little behind the other in cultural references, LOL! Fortunately he's happy to educate me in music and I'm happy to let him try...

Poor Edie thanks you -- she's a diva without an audience right now. I've been spending time pruning my collection of late so I can concentrate on what I like best, Persons being top of the list, and ironically the Persons have been suffering for attention while I do. Persons do not suffer suffering very well -- I'd best get back on task!

My boys are kind of in the same boat. I don't have shoes for them yet (still!), and pants that fit... but now it's getting time for shorts, and only one has a pair of those...
I really need to spend some time with them and get them some appropriate clothes to wear! I love them, but don't spend as much time on them as I would like.
I like to think they keep each other entertained. ^_^

 

I am also guilty of neglecting my Persons! I don't think I've photographed my two Aqua babies yet!

Downsizing takes a lot of effort, ironically enough.

 

Oh, I can see a little Snidely in him, too - especially with that mustache. What's nice is, you got him without one, so he can easily be the cute little girl you want, too. Can always make a mustache, like you said.

As far as neglecting Persons - I'm afraid I've been worse than most of you here. It took me almost 2 years before I took a pic of Tempest, my 04. And even then, it was with the other two. You're smart to prune your collection. Something I need to seriously consider doing, too.

Whew, after a couple false alarms of Secretdoll shipping delays and barely missing the postman on Monday my catgirl is here!

Her tights are a little short and I have NEVER had such trouble to get a head back on after hot-glueing (the slot for the s-hook was so narrow the knot wouldn't pull through) but she is so sassy!

 

She is a sweetie and they look an adorable pair together!

Congratulations, LadyCrow! Those 08's are wonderful Persons! As to your question, I think she'll be fine being an only Person and having all of your attention. It's us human persons that have more of a problem with sticking to just one.
