I can't wait to see some tan person 08 photos! I successfully didn't get one. It wasn't easy. These guys are just So Cute!

 

I successfully resisted too -- and now I'll cry when I see them come in...

I think platen is right -- she wants to concentrate on the Limiteds and the new 21 options. Let's hope she opens up the basics again once the Limited runs are done.

Oh man, I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting a basic earlier, I hope its just temporary. I wonder if the new 21 has actually sculpted teeth in there or it's just the paint?

 

I'll be joining you with the tears! Having ordered two in the last order period (who I still haven't photographed) I couldn't justify ordering again so soon - although 08 was just so perfect

 

I was saving up for an 8. I hope they're not gone forever... except as limiteds!

 

And yeah, it looks like one of the 21s has teeth. Not my thing... I don't like dolls with teeth, and just think of the damage a Person could do with them.

 

That might be how it is, at least for now. Interesting that 08 is sold out but 04 is not. Guess that means 04 is more popular that I thought and 08 a bit less.

I always thought they were biters... but hard to say without seeing the blank sculpt. I wish Secretdoll would post a photo of it especially now that they can be ordered without a face-up. I think that's a first for them too. I wonder if there was a demand for a no face-up option or if it was too much to do the basics and the Limiteds at the same time.

 

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh man, little piranha... I can see it now... walking around with them gnawing on your ankles... "buy me stuff!"

 

I am a bit disappointed. I LOVED the new faceups for the basics, and they're not doing them anymore??? I had wanted to save for one in the new year!!!

I am sure they'll bring out a limited that I adore at some point, I just always thought if I love the basic faceup, why spend all the extra funds for a limited? I am not a fan of the teeth on the new 21, which is a shame because otherwise I think her face and faceup are really cool. I don't tend to like teeth on dolls. I don't know why...

I am really missing my Persons lately. I had 3, sold 1, regretted it, traded one, really regretted it, so I traded my last one out because I kept feeling sad when I looked at her. Silly move, because I now have none and miss all 3!! There will have to be one or two in my future. Someone needs to keep the pukifee in line when I am out of the house!

Looks like it! Those long sleeves and tights are fun with the kitty ears. I'm interested to see what the face ups are like.
I don't see a 04... just two 08s and two 21s...

ETA: Ooo, just had time to go through the new listings. I have to say, Narrow Eyes 21 with the red lips is tempting -- I see a 50s Beatnik Girl.... Edie or Heddy... hmm... intriguing....

 

I really like both 21s, though with MiyaMaia's facepup flaking I'm a little nervous about getting a doll with a faceup I wouldn't be able to repair AT ALL if it got damaged. Mismatched eyes are great for a cat! I even like these retro-carpet-bag cat suits even more than the circus ones. Interesting that they recently added the narrow-eyes 21 and now the big-eyes 8, rather than coming up with completely new molds. I'd like to see these 8s with the regular ones to compare!

 

Me too, as I can't really see the difference when I look at them. Mismatched eyes? On the Limiteds? I didn't catch that...

I think I'm getting Narrow Eyes 21 this time around. Just trying to decided if she'll ever wear that awesome cat suit around here and if I want to pay $70 for it. That's what I'd pay for a complete wardrobe from Spampy with mix and match separates. Sigh, trying to be practical, even with my dollie's clothes...

I like the narrow-eyes 21. I think the teeth work really well this time with the idea of a Cat Person. The little suits are a genius idea!

 

It took me a few times reading them, ha. I love the hoods, I kinda wish their hands weren't covered because I think it will be more difficult to pose them, but they're so silly.

 

I think they're so fabulous, but I think what I REALLY wanted was a basic 08 with the new basic 21 faceup hahaha. Impossible dreams, hey?

I think I'll have to just hang on and wait till just the right limited release comes out. This one is fantastic, but not quite what I was looking for.

 

This is a very cute release! I am still quite content with my two 21's--Darla and Prissy--but I always love popping in here to admire all of the new Persons.

 

I just saw the cat persons! I love those little cat suits. Good thing I have until late January to decide ... very tempting! I like some of the suits better than others, and some of the doll face-ups better than others ... wish we could mix and match!

 

I've only recently discovered these girls and they are so adorable. I apologize if this was mentioned before, but don't the Picture Dolls seem reminiscent of Yoshimoto Nara's art? She's one of my favorite artists and now I'm itching to get one of these girls so that I can try recreating her paintings.

 

Gosh, these new limited editions are SO adorable! Being a bit of a cat person myself, I'm feeling a need for a Cat Person. Really love the fair 08 - that blue eye color really pops and her outfit is precious.

In answer to your questions, sparkii - yes, people have often mentioned the resemblance. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the artist behind Secretdoll is a fan of Nara's work and was inspired by it.

 

I'd not heard of Yoshimoto Nara before but it's interesting to note the connection. He even has a girl in a cat suit.

 

Great catch, smudge! I had forgotten about Nara's girl in the cat suit - it's such a cute one, too.

 

Enid finally, patiently ::eyeroll:: got her own room too. There's a list of improvements she's demanded, starting with new furniture, more books and more toys, but "it's a start..."

And I finally bit the bullet and put a Narrow Eye Cat 21 on layaway this morning... which means another room to assemble
This time, I'm thinking 1940's/50s and a 'Rosie the Riveter' archtype character named Edith, or Edie for short. Cat 21 has the makeup and sass for it, I think.

Thanks, aernath and Cattwo! You know, one reason I love Persons is that 1:12 scale usually works so well with them and there's so much out there in that standard size. Mix in a bit Rement, a few ornaments and a touch of playscale and there it is. For Edie, I just found a vintage 1930's walnut 1:12 bedroom set on the evilbay. It needs some polishing and minor repair but it'll be perfect for my 40's girl.

 

Has anyone done the Secretdoll layaway? I can't get the Q&A board file with the "form" to unzip, I don't have the software. Has anyone gotten the form another way? I posted this on the Q&A board, but I thought someone here had done it before...thanks!

Their site can be a bit tricky to navigate - at least it was for me. I had to use Firefox just to be able to use the Paypal button to pay. In previous purchases, I had an order number I could use that I could go ahead and send them a payment on my own. This time, it wouldn't give me one - I had to figure out how be able to hit the Paypal button they had on there. It wouldn't let me do it using SeaMonkey. Anyway, I successfully paid for a fair 08, with her cat costume. I had said 3 was enough, after getting my last one, an 04 a couple years ago, but somehow found the need to fit in another. Couldn't pass up a Cat Person.

 

I decided to get the Cat Person 21 narrow eyes, and pay with two lay-away payments. I copied and pasted the layaway form into the notes on my first paypal payment -- will that work okay? I wasn't sure how else to send them the form. Thanks in advance for any help, and congrats to those of you who ordered Cat Persons!

Yes, when I ordered before I remember getting a weird pop-up but I think I went from Chrome to IE and it worked. This time I just sent the first payment manually to their paypal so hopefully that works ok. Seems like narrow 21 is the most popular cat!

 

That's what I did -- manual payment to paypal, then copied the form with the info and entered it on the Q&A. She confirmed it a few days later so it looks like that way works fine.

Congrats on your orders, happibug and astronik! I think part of the reason the narrow eyed 21 is so popular is that she's really different, especially if you already have some other Persons. I also think she did a wonderful job on her face-up and that it gives narrow 21 the impression of a little cat the best. If I could have gotten a second one, I would have gotten her, too, but the blue eyes and pink suit of the fair 08 called out to me just a little bit more.

 

Congrats on your 08 Cat person! I love her too, and thought hard about her - the pink suit and her blue eyes are so adorable. I love the picture of her with her little blonde bob. It took me quite a while to decide which one to get!

 

Thank you, happibug! I think they're all adorable and the hardest part was choosing just one. I love the wig 21 comes with, too - it looks so sweet on them.

YAY!!! Basic 08, 17 and 15 are back up with new faceups! I was a bit disappointed they weren't as strong in colour as the 21 girls, but they are super sweet all the same. 17 has adorable freckles and 08 has lovely details too, but I just wish they had a bit more colour.
Still.... I am REALLY excited they're back again!! I was worried they'd been retired!

 

Yup, I got a narrow 21 as well! I'm a little nervous as dolls with dramatic faceups don't seem to last around here, but Persons are such stinkers it might work.

 

I finally found my camera battery charger and had a chance to hang out with Ris today. She's currently ticked that I have not sent her a valentine yet. Personally I think the new outfit with cute hearts should count but she's not satisfied.

Big Eye 08 Bride looks very 'Jane Austen' to me. Rose red eyes and white skin -- reads as potentially creepy but looks pretty.
Still loving the grooms' outfits, especially the shoes!

 

Aww, the wedding couples are very cute! I like how soft and romantic looking they made the narrow eyed 21 and I agree - the outfit for the grooms is very cute! Almost like Charlie Chaplin, with those big shoes. Was surprised to see a new collection available already, though. I'm still waiting for my Cat Person - hoping she'll ship soon.
