Sculpts you love (but will probably never get)

Doll I would probably never have is one of those resin EDs - got on the waiting list too late and now the line has been discontinued the second-hand prices are soaring oh well.

 

Well, never say never, but...these dolls would be really hard to find.

There's a limited doll I love, but I can't see myself handling her nor having any fun. I'd be too afraid to damage her blushing and her faceup's isn't what I want. If I could get her wholly blank, I'd definitely get her, but she's a total package and that just isn't for me.
Other dolls I admire have hundreds of photos online. I'd rather just appreciate the owners and their pictures instead of get one for myself. But I sort of use that as a kind of standard I hold to other dolls I consider, so it's not so bad.

 

Angell studios Victoria and Elizabeth in armor set. There was no way I could afford them when they were in production and now that I would have to find them being resold the chances are slim.

 

For me that would be FCS F-40 boy.

 

It's hard to say that I'll never have them because if there's a will there's a way, but I would love love LOVE to have a DollShe Aramis and 5th Motif Venitu.

 

Crobi Marisol. It was the doll that made me fall in love with BJD's. I still love her but she wouldn't fit in with my current dolls.

 

I want a sawarieda so badly!!!! She's so so beautiful. And so expensive.... But still

 

A Rosen Lied Holiday Mignon. Not because she is very hard to get but because I don't really collect dolls this big anymore. If they had her in 1/6 size, I'll get her in a heartbeat (if I'm that lucky).

 

The MSD and SD ANI ninetails from LUTS.

I want those dolls so baddddd.

 

Spiritdoll Vine. I want him more than anything but there's a myriad of factors keeping him out of my reach. At first, I thought it was just because he's super expensive but now that I've been around longer, the price isn't so scary, but...Hhh I want that body blushing, I want those body freckles and Spiritdoll will only do body blushing if the doll can be picked up in person, which isn't something I can do
And because he's so huge, I'm struggling to shopping for much for him

 

Souldoll Shiva (the four-armed version). Not just a rarity in the market, but also a pain to find clothes for that aren't dresses with no sleeves. And in grey-skin no less is an impossibility!

 

Iplehouse Aria or Rebecca! Too many gorgeous girls to choose from!

 

Dollshe 5th Motif Venitu or Dollshe Amanda, both are soooo beautiful and I want to buy them, but I probably never will! I can always dream though right?

 

Many soom monthly dolls that I want fullset of. Dolls with time-limit or amount-limit faceup by certain artists. It IS the fullset or simply that pic that I fell in deep love with, and I'm afraid that I might ruin that atmosphere by creating my own. Feel pity when I see some gorgeous fullsets sold out. Money saved though.

 

Luts Senior Delf Cherry, I don't know many people if any got her, and I've never seen her for sale anywhere.

Or any of the Volks lottery/character dolls.

Been in love with the sculpt for a while but they are pretty hard to find D:

 

Fitfh Motif Venitu. I thought it was discontinued so I gave up on the idea of ever owning one. Turns out Fifth Motif is having a very limited rerelease and I just iimpulsively bought one. This does not bode well for my bank account.

 

Volks Shinku. ;_; Way back when I was still active in this hobby she was already going for around $6000 and now, coming back into it her price has only gone up (which blows my mind, really).

Actually the rest of the Rozen Maiden Volks dolls, as well; their prices have also gone up a lot over the last five years and it's getting to where it's not worth it anymore.

 

Iplehouse old version Kamau on special realskin and one of the original default faceups, on the super hero body with veins. He was very expensive for me at the time, isn't really seen in the marketplace, is not poseable enough for the price and... for the price, I'm not willing to deal with Iple's old resin's greening issues.

If I happen to see a tan head in the marketplace, I might go for that and find an Impldoll body to hybrid it with, but.... it's very unlikely.

 

Iplehouse SID Soo for me. I don't even neccessarily want her super badly at this point, but this sculpt is just so... Freaking. Beautiful. The thing is that she really does come with quite a price tag and I wouldn't feel comfortable with a doll like that yet. But I'm pretty certain that she will haunt me to some day in the future :p

 

A Volks FCS MSD F-14 boy and girl in Ebony skin, because 1) Volks never offered their Ebony skin as an FCS choice, at least not in the U.S., 2) I'm not sure Volks even has any plans to make any more dolls in the Ebony skin color, and 3) Volks completely retired the F-14 Kohaku/Hisui sculpt, even as an FCS choice, I don't think it's even available in Japan anymore.

Lol, and while we're at it, new Volks SDC boys in Sunlight and Ebony skin, so that I can steal their bodies for my Sunlight skinned FCS F-14 boys, and the Ebony skinned F-14 that I'll never have.

 

Nabarro's Har head is my ultimate grail but he's very sought after and a lot of factors would have to come together: I would have to find one for sale at a time when I had the money for at least a down payment and I'd have to either be able to contact the seller first or hope there wasn't someone else offering a better deal or faster payment. It's very unlikely but I can dream!

 

I would really love Impldoll Nicolas, but I really have no character for him and I doubt I'll ever actually add him to my dolly family. He's one of those dolls that you want, but never actually get. :/

 

Eventhough I don't like to say "never", I think that the chances that I could get a Fifth Motif Venitu someday are quite low.

 

I absolutely love love LOVE Lillycat Cerisedolls Kitty Jolie in every colour she's available in but due to the limited ordering periods plus the price that is twice the number in my currency I don't think I'll ever own 3 let alone one.

It's a shame but at least I can see everyone else's pictures of their gorgeous Kitty Jolies.

 

Volks Amelia...Maybe someday when Volks decides to release her again, I would get her.

 

I would want a black doll that looks like me. I haven't seen any male black dolls with a similar build to Smart Dolls or Dollfies. I'm new and I'm not up on the different terms for bodies. I mean the type that are more human like. I actually haven't seen many of the non human like bodies for black males either but I don't really care about those dolls.

 

IoS infernale and tauros. Infernale is unique and fancy but way too big (a 80cm fellow) since I am already horrified by the 60cm ones. Holding him would be as good as impossible. And with a smaller body... maybe, but he's kinda just a cool sculpt I want to own, I would never bond with him and thus bother painting him or getting him all the stuff I need.

And as for tauros - I could never paint him. I'm not that skilled yet.

 

For a long time, it was the Dollshe Ausley Love--I stumbled across her somehow, I don't even remember how, and was instantly in love, despite the price tag--at the time--of something like $900. It didn't take me long to come up with a character and a story, and while I bought other dolls around her, she was always my grail, beautiful and unobtainable until I was independently supporting myself. Flashforward to this summer, and my checking back (as I often did) on her price at a whim. Suddenly, she was limited, and once she sold out, she was going to be gone. I didn't even try to stop myself. I moved around some money, pulled from my emergency funds, and paid the 700+ she cost at the time. A little while later, sales knocked her price down to just 510, and on my birthday, Dollshe refunded me the 200 dollars between what I paid and her sale price.

She's sitting in my room, on a beautiful velvet-covered chair. Grail achieved.

Now I think I'm moving on to the bizarre and probably impossible dream of a Dollshe Saint head on a muscular woman's body. Looking at that face just makes me want an Amazon in the family.

 

Dollshe David Kuncci and 5th Motif Venitu probably.
They are both incredibly handsome and I would buy them just cause of that if I won the lottery or something, but otherwise they probably don't fit in with my other dolls.
Also all 70+ cm dolls probably. I am sometimes toying with the idea to get a Hound and split him and a 65 cm boy or so away from my main group, but I own SDs and I want them to work together size wise. I do not like the idea of having a bunch 60-65 cm dolls and then one huge 70 cm titan that looks out of place...
I gotta say I love a ton of sculpts that would get them all in a flash if I had the funds to spare but I do not, and so I won't ever own most of them.

 

NS Minifee Sia. If I'm ever able to find one, It'd probably be after I purchase a different doll for the character she's perfect for. Sigh...

 

Angel Region Lillica. Probably never going to happen, but oh well.

 

More and more companies are offering a wider variety of skin tones. Dollshe probably has the widest variety (that I have seen), but currently they have been selling mostly in the 40cm-50cm range and smaller.
If all else fails and you like the sculpt but it doesn't come in a shade you like, buy the palest one and dye it. The workshop section can be very helpful with this.

Iplehouse Yur Money Issues

 

I would love to have a Resin Enchanted Doll by Marina Bychkova, but even if the high price was not a problem, they just are not available. Which makes me embellish my unlikely idea of owning one by imagining I could happen upon a full set Resin Enchanted Doll at an estate sale on a table among other unwanted items/knick knacks marked down to 2 dollars!

 

Thankfully I haven't become obsessed with any impossible-to-find-or-obtain dolls. I've had my moments (falling in love with discontinued sculpts and such), but with the MP, never say never! And ALWAYS have money saved just in case. It also helps that I never, ever peruse the Soom site, and RARELY if EVER look at Ringdoll. Curse those amazing limiteds. CURSE THEM. It's Ringdoll's fault that I have a completely unplanned open-mouth Dracula B head on the way...

 

I feel like all three of my Grail dolls are so hard/impossible to find Souldoll Junia Elf Head, Minifee Siean head, and Minifee Nanuri14. Junia and Siean especially are so perfect for my characters, I'm sooo sad they're so rare and of course everyone else loves them too haha

 

This could be said of any BJDS a few years ago but I broke down when I saw my David Knucci from Dollshe... I had to have it right then & there!! I saved & bought him and have never looked back

I'D TRADE SOULS (but not my doll's souls) just to get my hands on him. :'( too bad he's sold out.

 

I try not to get unreasonable 'grails,' if only for the sake of my mental health. These dolls are how I give myself goals and having a 'unreachable' goal would negate their purpose.
... that being said, I'll probably never get Volk's Rei Ayanami Maid Version, due to how expensive it is and how awful I am with saving up that much money. My cap is 500USD, apparently.

 

Dollzons Sawarieda sculpt ^^ i just cant justify spending that much on a doll that and although i love the way she looks and i adore the jointing and how fragile yet strong she looks she seems like shed be to big for me ^^; i'm only 5ft tall myself so a doll thats over 3 ft is pushing it for me ^^ even just my 50 cm boy is taking some getting used to so doubling that might be way to much ^^ granted someday i might get to the point where i think i can handle a doll that large however today is not that day lol

 

Souldolls Azrael..I've only just found out about BJD's and that was a limited doll T_T

 

GongGong, that huge 80+ cm naga from Loongsoul. He's amazing, and his price sure shows for it too. I can deal going into the $500 + range, but once you get to those four-digit numbers? Nope. I do like him, but not quite enough to justify such an investment. I don't think even my grail lives up to those kinds of numbers yet, honestly.

 

And what's about a second hand market? You can find him their

 

I always wanted a Switch Soseo in Mocha brown skin but I know that will forever be a dream. I can always appreciate others owners though. When I get my finances together so many things are gonna change regarding this hobby lol

 

Do you have any molds you just like looking at? For example, I love looking at owner pics of Hounds and Saints, but feel no desire to get one.

 

Fairylands, most of them. I first fell in love with Moonlight and Roke Dragon Lord but they were sold out when I got into the hobby. When I got a minifee, I learned I didn't like fairyland in general (sold the minifee fast) but they're pretty to look at. No desire at all to get one ever.

 

Dollfie Dreams. They're too expensive and hard to take good care of... but still pretty!

 

When I like the look of the face, but have nothing to do for them in my crew. Of course this is dangerous, becaus if I find a position for them, I have to get them. This is like that e.g. with Iplehouse Claude, IOS Bel Canto or Dollits Oscar (all of them young, smiling boys - why is it like that? Is there any kind of pattern? Quite strange).

 

Ummm...about half of the dolls out there?

No but seriously, I love the Iplehouse EIDs, Soom Mega Gems and Idealians, Impldoll Idols, Dollshe 18M boys. But they're all too big for me personally. Also lots of the weirder Doll Chateau sculpts and many little creature/animal dolls. So many of them are beautiful or really cute, but I usually only bond with human dolls. Aimerai's Enfield Horror is one of my favorites that I'll probably never own just because I wouldn't know what to do with it if I did. I also like a lot of mature tinies--the ones 25cm and smaller but with adult proportions. They're so cute and would be great in a dollhouse, but I don't think I would enjoy owning one that small.

 

Yup, a lot of them, because I don't get a doll unless I have a specific character in mind.

The way I feel about it is, why should I get a doll, go through all the effort to make it look nice, when I can go on the internet and see someone's amazing work with that doll?

 

I think that Soom Dias and Dollshe Saints are absolutely gorgeous in photos. But they are two dolls that I have spent time with in real life and felt no attraction to in person. Which is a relief. They are two that would otherwise be on my list, and now I know I don't "have to" buy them.

 

Centaurs.

 

Anything over 70cm. I love the look of the large dolls but I don't have the space or money to have one. Also Doll Zone, love the moulds but would never own one.

 

Probably Soom or Iplehouse dolls. Only reason being is that I have other dolls that sort of fit that aesthetic. Mind you, I am constantly stalking both websites and drooling over the dolls and owner pics. To be honest I wish I bought a doll from these companies when I owned fewer dolls. Now my collection is moving in a different direction. So as much as I love them, I'll probably admire them from afar...but then again...lol

 

Seconding on Fairyland dolls. They all look so nice, I love seeing people's photos, I lurk on the threads for the smaller dolls sometimes, the few I've seen in person were wonderful, I browse the official site occasionally, but there's maybe one or two of their dolls I'd actually want to own ever, and that's only if I had all the rest of my wishlist magically taken care of first, haha.

 

Mostly the big, muscular dolls. I second most of the replies, its Iplehouse and Soom for me too. I love how realistic and beautiful all the sculpts are and its not that I don't want them, I can't have them lol
