Has anyone ever come across a sculpt that shares the same name as you? If so, please share! I share a name with Dream of Doll Sha. While it’s only my nickname, I go by Sha with pretty much everyone I know ^^ although, I’m assuming our names are likely pronounced differently. Does anyone know how dod Sha’s name is pronounced? I don’t know how common it is for most people to find a doll that already has the same name as themselves. Does it make you more interested in that doll? For me, I have grown intrigued by Sha
Not the same spelling, but iplehouse’s Carina shares a name with me! I do own that head (I’ve had 4 of her, but only one lasted)
I’ve seen sculpts and a company with my sister’s name… Aileen I think there’s at least one sculpt I’ve seen with mine too…. Alison
I don't think I've ever seen a doll with my birthname or any of the names I've gone by over the years. I go by August now and the only thing close to it is a Doll Leaves Augus, and I've seen other dealers name it Angus, so I'm not really sure which it's supposed to be.
The closest I've seen would be Christina (mystic kids, dikadoll, doll chateau, take your pick haha) but it's really not close enough to evoke any feelings in me and I am also not interested in any of those sculpts It's such a common cluster of names, too, so variations don't do it for me I think. I never really noticed but when I look at my dolls and wishlist now, I seem to gravitate towards sculpts that don't have "proper" human names in any case - although I certainly would take a second look if I met an exact dolly namesake.
Maskcatdoll Ronia (mine is with a 'j') I love their sculpts in general and wouldnt mind adding her in my collection, not only because of the name but it is a very sweet sculpt
I've seen a couple with my name, but I have no interest in them. I'm also not a fan of my name, so it wouldn't entice me to buy one.
I've seen one with my name and a couple with my sister's, but all of them have long-since been discontinued.
Fairyland's Sirin is the closest to my name Shirin, even if it's based on the mythological creature! It's a cute sculpt, but not to my personal preference. I doubt I'll come to own one.
Ringdoll Julia has my birth name, and Dream Valley Julie has the name I go by. AoD Juli has the name I go by but spelled differently. And Doll Chateau Julianne sort of has my first and middle name all crammed together, but not exactly. I don't own any of these sculpts and wouldn't buy them only because of the name, though Julianne is pretty cute. She's not on my current wishlist, but I wouldn't mind owning her!
Minifee Alicia from fairyland, there are a lot of Alices dolls, but FL named her sculpt just like me. Tempt me a lot for add this sculpt to my collection for this reason
I have a doll whose sculpt name is my middle name and it makes me feel a bit...odd. I think I might need to find another name for her. I often keep my dolls' sculpt names as their names unless it really doesn't work for me or modify it slightly (Evander from Evan, Mikoto from Miko). I also don't keep sculpt names if they match names of people I know – there's always an association in my brain, for good or bad, even if the doll looks nothing like the person. For example, if I got a DearSD Vanessa I'd have to rename her because Vanessa was a name my mum rejected for me, as it reminded her of a nasty child she had to teach!
My given name is Stephanie... just did a google search to see if I could turn up anything and nope! My chosen name for most corners of the internet is Juniper, and Luts did come out with a really cute doll called Juniper back in March 2020. Fun!
I had no idea there were BJD Natalie's... Asleep Eidolon, Gem of Doll and Whispering Grass (this head looks like a Natalie Portman doll) all have the name Natalie. Never knew about them until today lol. After looking at each of them, they're not my typical style I collect, so I have no interest in purchasing them.
I am a little surprised to see quite a few with my first name which is Rachel. My middle name is not super common but there are a couple bjd that use it as a sculpt name as well.
I just ordered one with my middle name, Hugh! I loved him at first sight and couldn't say no. He's a Soom Idealian.
Two dolls with my given name from two three (found one more) different companies. As for my nickname Vega (I've been using it for over 20 years), there's Soom MA Vega, and I think at least one other doll from a different company. Having my name and nickname already makes me not keen to own them.
When they make a doll with my name, I hope he will be a beautiful Volks boy so I can have an excuse to buy him
The day a doll company uses my name for their sculpt will be the day that pigs fly. I use multiple aliases online now and there's maybe one that could be used, and I might have seen multiple close to it, but no exact matches.
I would expect there to have been at least one, given that my name is Teddy, but if there have been any, I've missed them. Teddy
Dollmore has a whole line that shares my given name, Conarium has a very big doll with the same name and I think SimplyDivine also had a now discontinued headsculpt with this name too. I shall have to have a look and see if there’s any others.
There was a Doll Chateau Sharon, a DOLK Sharon and a LegendDoll Sharon too. ( My real name is Sharon.)
There is exactly one sculpt that shares my name, though I'm kind of surprised there aren't more. Unfortunately, she's a really generic sculpt, (to me, anyway,) so I'm not particularly interested. It'd be kind of neat to have a doll with my name, but it doesn't especially influence me to buy one.
Oh lol, nah, no sculpt is ever going to have my name! I have one of those "old timey" weird, now-rare names that people always say, "Oh my aunt was named that- after her Grandma!" I like my name, but I can't see it getting picked for a doll sculpt. I have found a doll with my face, though, which I thought was utterly impossible- Nakana Dolls Panya. So you never know!
I wasn't sure there was any doll with my exact name because I don't really pay attention to company names at all (except if they're on my wishlist, of course), so I just checked a few companies and dealers so I could add my bit to this thread xD I found one that has essentially the same name as me but the spelling is slightly different in my country, and this particular doll is too big for me plus it doesn't spark anything in me. In any case, I don't think I'd feel more inclined to buy any doll just because of a company name cause I'm for sure going to change it anyway.
Considering how common it is... I'm surprised there aren't any named Lee that I could find! I have another name I go by, but it's also an animal, so... searching for that would probably just bring up anthro and pet BJDs
The name I actually go by (and plan to legally change my name to) is a weird combo of my first and middle names so that's not gonna happen, lol. BUT, after looking it up, Dollmore has a Model girl named Joanne! And Charm Doll has a big girl named Joanna, so close.
There is a sculpt called Lee! Made by Iplehouse, he was released initially as part of the Noctarcana Circus series~ Lee is my middle name so I remembered this My first name? I think there was one doll with a different spelling of it, but I doubt I will see one that matches my spelling.
Well, my name is Jessica but I go by Jess (and I have coworkers who call me Jessie). A quick google search gave me two Jessica's - one by ALM (which is a NOPE for me), and one by Iplehouse (that's what I would look like if I was a super model I think. And her expression is a pretty accurate representation of my teacher face haha). So if I had to pick a Jessica - I would pick the Iplehouse. There is also a Jessie but it's too young and pouty for me. There is also the old CP Jess which, if I could get my hands on one and mod it into elf ears, I would take in a heart beat haha. There is also an artist sculpt called Jesse on etsy who is okay but I wouldn't buy. I didn't bother looking at any results from ebay/aliexpress.
There are a few out there that share my name. Only one of them is a doll I’d be interested in owning. I’ve considered picking up her head a few times although the shared name also feels weird as I refer to dolls by their sculpt names until they feel like they embody their character although it’s not really that much of an issue. I used to have a friend who shared the same name as me.
Actually there´s a Bratz doll sharing my name. But I didn´t buy her as Bratz dolls are not my cup of tea.
I never bothered to look if a doll has my real name (not impossible, though, since my real name has been a pretty common girls' name for decades and decades ), but I recently saw an adorable 1/4 doll head with my online alias, Lila. It's sculpted by the artist Flynn. It had so many traits I liked (small size, sweet smile, good facial proportions, etc.) that I preordered her right away!
Skyland has one that sounds a bit similar, but other than that, I'm pretty sure there aren't any sculpts with my name (and I'm almost certain there never will be). If, by some miracle, such a doll did come out... I don't think it would make me more interested. If anything, it would probably just weird me out
Cheating a bit here because this is actually a nickname people use for me, but, Mel. She's super cute and I'm very happy to share a name with her!
I’ve come across one doll with a name close to my first name: Lucille by Dollstown. She’s got a world weary look. I picked up a Lucille head they went on final sale. I answer to Anne but haven’t run across any namesake sculpts but I haven’t sought any out either.
There's a Fairyland Pukifee with my real name- Zoe. I don't like to proportions of Pukifee, and I don't have any attraction to the sculpt, so I have no desire to own one Luts Zuzu Delf Lio is similar to my most widely used online alias. There are a few Leon sculps out there, too.
Nah. My name is too Americanized. There was a doll with my middle name, but I'm not attached to my middle name, so I didn't feel that pull of "doll named like me!" Now, if a doll company decided to go to Disney and get permission to make a doll named after my username, well - that would be an immediate buy.
I did a quick google and found out Souldoll has a doll named Molly. Her sculpt isn't really my thing, but she's very pretty. It's kind of neat to find a doll twin like that.
My full name is Elizabeth Josephine, so the Volks March sisters both have my name! My parents didn't even name me after Little Women. Volks also has the Liz sculpt too.
Mystic Kids Victor shares my first name, and it's one of the reasons I want his head at the very least! I adore the moodier look he conveys especially in the promo pics, I'm glad to have such a cutie representing my name ^^
Mystic Kids Beth - and she's completely adorable. She's on my wish list. Doll Chateau used to have a Wanda, which is my mom's name, but I missed out on getting her.
I just recently happened across Asleep Eidolon's Anika. She is quite cute so no complaints there! Even with the correct spelling (it seems to be more common to spell Annika where I live).
My name is a very common/mundane one but thankfully so boring that I've only come across one sculpt with it. I'm saying thankfully because if a sculpt I liked shared my name I would probably have to pass on getting it because of that. Same goes if they'd have the same name as someone I know irl, I just associate names very strongly with the people that have them so I worry I would struggle to make the doll their own character if there was some other association to a person already there from the get go. Good thing Finnish names rarely come up as sculpt names so I've yet to have this trouble and likely never will. Except maybe with my own name, because my damn parents decided it would be wise to choose a name that works internationally as well... but, for once I'm glad it's also a boring one.
I think there are a couple of Ambers (my first name) and Michelles (my middle name). I've always wanted an Island Doll Amber!
Quite a few! I can’t even remember all of the Lina sculpts I’ve come across. My favourite that shares my name is Supia Lina though, she’s been on my wishlist for a long while. (It is spelled Lina irl, not like my DoA username) There’s also a doll company called LINA chouchou — not a sculpt but I think a whole doll company counts here too lol.
i have a generic fancy French name so i share a name with a lot of dolls, but yeah volks does have a Claude sculpt
I have a very common name, and one that's considered "classic/traditional/old-fashioned English" to boot, so at least three companies have used it that I can find. Only one of them appeals to me, and not enough to buy her.
I've seen a few, both on topic and off, with some variation of my name. Not surprising, as it was very popular here in the decade I was born. Unfortunately, I hate my name, so that's not exactly a selling point to me!
Alas, I've never encountered a doll with my name. I would totally be tempted to get a doll if it has the exact same name as me, but my name is rare and my nickname moderately rare so I most likely will never find one.
I know that at least Soul doll and Impl doll have a sculpt with my name, Mila. I'm not too attached to my name, and the name of the sculpt wouldn't affect my decision to buy or not buy the doll.
