@GreenTeaSlug - Yes! Doesn't he just look fantastic? I am eager to have him home so I can make his wig. Sadly he won't be "complete" for a few years yet, but he'll probably borrow my Iple boy's body from time to time because there's no way he's just going to hang out in a box all the time. I really should invest in a couple of bust stands, I have far too many heads and not enough bodies!

 

Sounds like Quiet and Insane got a great looking blond. Will look forward to seeing him.

@GreenTeaSlug - It's such a shame that the Instagram photos are so small, then you'd see his stubble better. It looks almost invisible being blonde and all. Gotta love a scruffy blonde.
That's one of the joys of BJDs I think - they keep growing and evolving. All of my dolls are characters from my stories and I like being able to reflect how their characters grow and evolve in their stories.
Those bust stands are AMAZING! Sadly I'm looking for something a little small and more affordable as I'd like to get a couple. Mirodoll have bust stands for $25 but after they were banned I feel very wary of buying from them. RingDoll has a bust stand for $79, and Granado has three bust options for $40-45. Brain says go for Granado, but wallet (and exchange rate) says Mirodoll.

@GreenTeaSlug - See Mirodoll were banned for recasting only just recently, so I am a little wary of them. But those stands look good and they're affordable, so I am very tempted. Mostly I'd just like them as a nice stable place to make doll wigs and display some of my many floating heads. Perhaps it's a thing to ask the mods.

 

Just got the email for Yvonne; those lips are to die for. Curious to see how she looks painted.

Stella has broader cheekbones and down-tilted eyes. Also a lower brow line. I'd separate them like this--

Stella: edgier runway model.
Yvonne: classical European beauty.

I'm here to stalk the Yvonnes as they start popping up (she's exquisite! ) but I figured I could contribute my two cents on resin colors and bodies and such. For reference/full disclosure, I painted @Quiet and Insane's boy above, so I can only speak to that resin color specifically, but I've been making seamless hybrids for years, and I handle hundreds of dolls so hope this helps.

For obvious reasons, these guys 100% suit Iplehouse. The proportions and styling are in keeping with IH EID/SID (Thanks to @Bren below for added insight here!) line. The ivory tone is a nice easy-to-blush ns though, so there shouldn't be anything standing in the way of blushing them to suit the big dollshe or dollstown bodies, etc. The only color I'd be wary of straying from iplehouse on is the bronze/tan color. It has the Iple real undertones as far as I can tell, which are more olive than DS/DT. The undertones are what determines how succusfully you can blush a doll to match. I'd class the site images as very accurate to reality, but I also have a fully calibrated tone-accurate monitor, so ymmv on that front. Hope that's helpful!

Oh, and for the bust discussion: loongsoul makes a very pretty but utilitarian male bust ideal for large male heads. It's in their kind of pinky/pale ns. I've got one on order for my own sculpts, so whenever it turns up I'd be happy to pop in with images.

You did an excellent job at his face up and thank you very much for sharing with us your expertise. I would just like point out one thing if that's alright. My collection is made up of Iplehouse and in my experience with the head I got to say that Jude's head was made more for a IH SID line than the IH EID. Can you have the head on an EID? Yes. of course, but in reality it doesn't sit as well on the broader neck as it does on the SID.

In regards to Yvonne. I have not clue since I've only seen her thru photos but she is just beautiful.

 

Thank you for the addition Bren! I've edited to reflect this. Do you find a notable difference between the different types (hero/model etc) and how they suit the head?

 

Both of the EID seem to have the head sitting on top of the neck instead of surrounding it. I concentrated more on the model body since it less bulky than the superhero. Of course people have different taste and perhaps to them it wouldn't bother them to have the head sitting on top. For me personally I rather have a narrower neck for the head and have it surrounded it.

the EID neck in my personal opinion is a little too thick for the head. Again you may think differently.

On the SID body it matters not if he's looking up, down, straight. the head always surrounds the top of the neck. It swilves around it.

@Bren - I think once he has a wig on I don't mind the fit...from what I can see in your photos. Maybe, I'll feel differently once I try an EID body with him in hand....but I'm actually very encouraged and may have to use a EID Model body for my scruffy Jude.

 

I'm hoping to use an Idealian body for my guy!

 

I thought about using an Idealian...but I wasn't sure about the resin match...at least for my amber beige Jude...I have a bronze body I could try on him....I'm not sure the best color....My other Idealians are WS or NS...(which could work for my warm ivory or peach cream...I forget which one I got.) I need to get him faceupped.

 

The suggested color was tawny but I will compare him to both tawny and bronze when he arrives.

 

I'm surprised you haven't already luluna. I for sure thought you would. I know how much you really like him as the highlander with the EID superhero body. I think you should change him and try it and see for yourself. While you are at it, get him up on that Idealian body. I want to see.

 

LOL! Yes, I'm slacking! Actually...I've had absolutely no time for play for the past week. Any free moments (like now) that I've had it's too dark and I'm too tired to lift anything heavier than a...drink. LOL

@Bren , I have found the same with my Jude in the EID body. You gave an excellent demonstration.

What is your opinion of the SID slim body as it would fit for Jude? And your thoughts on the slim body in general. Everyone’s opinions welcome.

In regards to your question. Since I like my guys buff I don't own the new SID model/slim body, so I can't give you my opinion on how Jude's head would fit it. Sorry.

@GreenTeaSlug - Hahaha I tried him in so many wigs and decided he'd be better off bald for the moment as the ones I had on hand just looked terrible on him. I need to get off my butt and get that alpaca fibre for him.
He's borrowing a SID body from one of my Viking boys...and I really do not like him on this body. Resin match and proportions are perfect, but he's so short I can't stand it. So yes, definitely getting him an EID body in the future, even if the neck doesn't match up 100%, the height and overall bulk is what I want to match his character.

@luluna - His face up was painted by the amazing @rianne She absolutely nailed what I had in mind! I honestly could not be happier with how he's turned out.

Yvonne is lovely. As Jude had some Rex vibe for me, this gal has a bit of Stella there for me too. A younger sister maybe. The outfit is stunning. It will be interesting to see which body it fits. I would love it if it would fit HID.

 

if they do a match for Yvonne for a Iple SID, it should work on EID as well as HID. Some EID heads do not look so good on a nYID body and if it's a nYID, well then forget it. Will not look so good on the other three bodies. So I guess we'll see which one they are going for.

She looks like Carina to me, just a wee bit younger version of her, did he do some of the face molds for Iplehouse?? I know he designed most of the clothing.

 

Yvonne's outfit 'SD Mirror Queen Set' is in their EID clothing section. Therefore I think the body they are using is EID but typically the Iplehouse EID/SID heads are interchangeable on those bodies, so I would think this head should work on SID body.

She is very beautiful and nice add-on with the free wig. I too see a lot of Stella in her.

 

I was thinking a mix of Jessica and Carina, personally!
She's lovely, but unless I decide my Carina needs a sister, I think I'll have to enjoy her through other people's photos.

 

Lord, she's amazing. I can definitely see hints of all the girls you guys are listing from iplehouse, but she feels vibrant and fresh at the same time. Definitely loving seeing what theis sculptor does post-IH. The subtle musculature around the mouth on these dolls is especially divine.

Hi all, I just ordered Yvonne today in peach cream with face b and I asked a few questions of Sartoriaj about resin and iple body matching. Thought I would share what he said just in case anyone else may be wondering too. Here are the replies from Jay .
"We use our own special resin which is a mixture of standard polyurethane resin and radiant resin like Iplehouse glow skin. We also add alot of uv protective elements so it will prevent yellowing. As fas as I know, Iplehouse orders resin at same place we do so it will be similar. We may release Jude in the future but we don’t have any specific plans for now. Yvonne is 8-9 inch head so you can put it on Iplehouse HID, EID, SID and YID body."
I missed out on Jude so fingers crossed he will have a second release someday.

@GreenTeaSlug Thanks for starting this thread... and the list of possible hybrid bodies is super helpful. I am looking forward to plenty of photo spam for these dolls .

@PennyDes Thanks for that info! And grats to your order I am still arguing with myself if I should get her with or without face up - I really like face up B. I have an EID body in NS and a SID body in slightly yellowed WS at home that she could use - I am not sure which of those would be a better match for Sartoria's Warm Ivory. And with a face up there wouldn´t be a chance of matching the color anymore ( I don´t want to blush the body).

And I don't have a SartorialJ peach cream resin yet...but I'm guessing it will match GlowPG from Iplehouse.
