@Wittyilynamed Thank you! Fingers crossed SJ will release some beautifully moody fits this coming Halloween

I like to imagine Amara in a plague doctor's outfit—knee-length skirt and SJ's spiked heel lace up boots. And Cori in a cheeky not-historically-accurate bloody nurse outfit similar to the one I put her Sims model in (I still have her spoopy teeth doll eyes!)

 

@sageyufi Your girls look both amazing! But Natalie is my favorite, I absolutely love black lipstick I really like her hair too!

 

@Ashemanu Thank you! It is indeed a very nice wig though it runs slightly large. My canon for her changed a while back so I'm waiting on a custom updo wig with lush curls to better honour her British and Sicilian mixed heritage.

Sharing another picture because I still haven't seen any owner photos of Natalie. Her sculpt has a much fuller bottom lip than her promo pictures led me to believe (I love it). Most incredible is how her expression can switch from gentle and sweet to regal and commanding depending on the angle her pictures are taken (I love her so much)!

 

and I'm liking Melena's lips. Your artist did a great job on both dolls

 

I feel like there wasn't much love for the Marina body in the thread but I just finished paying off my layaway on her and I am so excited! I have wanted a female mermaid SD for so long, I put my order in as soon as I saw their promo for her.

Anyone else who got her have plans/inspo boards? I went through a few iterations (I really wanted a spooky siren initially) but ended up defaulting to pink as always.

Also making my own life difficult by making it a hybrid - I have no idea what will match with 'rosewater' but I am just going to wing it!

@sageyufi : your ladies are stunning! I know you stated that those aren't their proper wigs, but they're so lovely! Love a good up-do.

@Faerie_Soup: love the vision you have for your mermaid! Maybe you can get the intended head in the lightest skin tone available and it can be color matched with a faceup?

@Robyn_in_WA : Those uniforms are amazing! Love the attention to the little details!

 

@Quirked Your Leo is so stylish! I love that his faceup gives him a kind of softness to his expression, and the blue-silver hair matches his eyes quite well. Love his top as well, where did you get it?

 

Thank you! I keep looking at him all googly eyed. His top is the 'Twilight Knit' from SartoriaJ (I ordered it with him last November), and it looks like it is no longer on the site unfortunately. But maybe it will come back, I'm pretty sure I've seen some things disappear from the site and then reappear at a later time.

 

I think a lot of us feel that way about our dolls in general haha I stare at my girls and think, "ooh, pretty ladies!".
Kinda wish SJ would simply archive all of their creations. It's actually interesting to stumble upon their older stuff and see how much they've improved and so I can cry about certain missed offerings.

They're planning to release SD/MSD male and female dolls plus 1/6 too. Can't wait!! But I'm hoping I'm safe from the SDs because I already have 2 on layaway

Naomi is up an wow she looks amazing. I asked on Instagram if she'll be offered in the 1/4 size and I'm really hoping she is, so if anyone else wants in 1/4 please ask .

 

They told me they will be releasing dolls in all sizes minus poupee for Halloween

 

PLUS...........we get to buy the outfits separately! YAY!

 

Do you think the next set of dolls will all be released next week now?

Hi all, can I ask if anyone has received any part of their Versailles orders yet? Was a bit surprised to see it was April when I ordered-although totally see how with all their offerings, I'll bet they are really backlogged at J's. (Long time lurker here, btw, but enjoy everyone's posts! Been too busy working to do much on DOA, even look at the dolls I'm working to pay for. The irony.)

 

@jp_bestie oh thanks for the info!! I'll wait patiently (or try at least ) for Naomi in 1/4 size!

Naomi and Yu were the ones I was gutted to have missed out on. Here's hoping Yu comes back at some point!

I'm looking forward to seeing what the other girl looks like! Am I right in thinking just the 2 girls this round?

 

@bavarica I still haven't received my Elf order, so I am not expecting my Versailles order anytime soon.
I am US based, and so tariffs have massively impacted shipping timelines, so if you're based elsewhere it might be different.

What's also strange to me is in other groups I've seen US based people receiving their Elf dolls with face-ups and outfits, where as I ordered blank dolls and outfits, so I truly have given up trying to understand SJ's shipping schedule haha.
I woulds say if you ordered an outfit with a doll, SJ is tracking more on the 8 month side than the 6 month side of shipping times.

But you could receive it next week and I'll eat my words, I try not to hold my breath at this point haha.

 

Many thanks for the info @Wittyilynamed! I'm sorry to hear you're still waiting for your Elf order; from what you describe, no, it doesn't make sense. For what it's worth, I ordered the Elf Jade outfit on the last day of March and received it on July 25th. (It's absolutely gorgeous.) Yeah, maybe no real rhyme or reason for SJ's schedule

I'll just be patient with Versailles. In my case it's all outfits: horror of horrors, I don't have an SJ doll yet. Everyone's pics here ensure that can't last much longer! "Morticia Naomi" is stunning; I've always loved the old b&w Addams family series.

 

@bavarica Ah if just the outfits I would think hopefully they'd start shipping soon! You could definitely poke Jay in the Q&A and just ask for an updated shipping timeline, as we're in the 6th?7th? month of waiting. I tend to keep my eye on the QA to very unofficially track common issues, and there's a lot of asking after Elves still. Again, I'm sure A LOT of those are US customers, but I do have to wonder if they're just behind overall with orders because of the tariff chaos and the Elf outfit delays.

 

Also, never been tempted by Naomi before but do love this Morticia look for her! Can't wait to see who will cave and get her!

Yeah, I saw that, but I just like the ATH better! MTN is nice, but I like the slightly buffer body that ATH provides if I’m going with a SJ body.

Naomi.R looks a lot like Elf Naomi (minus elf ears), rather than standard Naomi.

I happen to have an Elf Naomi if anyone wants an idea of other skintones, though the Halloween version looks amazing as is! My Naomi is in Amber Beige:

@Loganberry I would also love to see Yu return, speaking as a half-monolid Asian myself. In fact, I wish for more facial features seen in other ethnic groups in general. There is no other sculpt quite like Iplehouse's Ashanti for example, and it really saddens me that she's been discontinued.

@Quirked Thanks for sharing! Your Elf Naomi looks great — she's my favourite of the elves ngl. I prefer the newer sculpt to the original now that you say (I used to think it was the same sculpt just different makeup ).

And while we're at the discussion of makeup, I have to say I really like Leo's makeup on the pale moon resin. He looks absolutely ethereal as Dracula! Hurray for the return of pale moon and pale rose resins! I hope this means SJ will continue to offer more opportunities for special resin colours to return now bring back carob brown please.

@sageyufi I would love it if SartoriaJ offered more ethnic diversity in their sculps. I want a diverse collection but that's hard to curate with SartoriaJ. Iplehouse does offer a lot more diversity. I agree Ashani is a great sculp. I also like Aaliyah and Lahela to name a few. And I like that they offer a diverse range of skintones.

Also, love the Halloween outfit on your girl!

@sageyufi: Thank you! I prefer the newer sculpt as well, but the old one was fantastic too. I think of them more like sisters. I know Iplehouse did this with the Yur sculpt a long time back. I currently have an 'original' Yur and love her to bits, but her renewed sculpt is also gorgeous. Agreed on the hope that there will be more opportunities for special resin colors! It looks like SJ has been dabbling with it at least in the last few releases? And Amara looks amazing in that dress!

 

I coped with never being able to get an Ashanti by getting a way more stylized Twigling Nkiru, because she has somewhat the features that I really liked out of Ashanti, albeit in a really stylized way. Also OG iplehouse Kamau is a good looking guy—I need to repaint mine and finish modding his body so he can be whole for the first time in awhile.

Tremendous tangent away from SJ dolls, but I would die if they did a sculpt like Ashanti. I’d probably buy it in the palest resin, because I have a beautiful dark tan dye recipe (rit chocolate brown+4 caps of violet) that gets close to the colour iplehouse’s ebony resin gets!

 

+1 on this! I feel Kamau's sculpt would be a decent fit for Amara's adoptive father, but alas also discontinued.

@Loganberry I really like Aaliyah and Lahela too! Unfortunately, I can't unsee Rihanna in Aaliyah, and if I can't have Ashanti, I would like a sculpt that's somewhere between the softness of Lahela and the austerity of SJ's Nadia. This one would be the shell of Amara's plot-relevant ex-gf.

Also on my dream list for when I have all of the monies and space: a tough girl with a smirk in cocoa brown (Cori's bff), a kind and easygoing man in carob brown (Amara's adoptive brother), IH's Asa (the prideful rival-friend), IH's Edan (younger bio brother; close facial features too!) — and if I ever stumble upon a nice elderly black man sculpt, the supportive butler as well!

 

@sageyufi yes! Aaliyah does look a lot like Rihanna! However, I've had a Aliyah in the past with an artist face up and she looked nothing like Rihanna.
Oh, I'll have to have a look at Nadia cause I can't picture what she looks like. I just buy the dolls i like the look of but I always think it must be fun finding the perfect sculp for a character!

@luluna Your Leo is spectacular! I really like the elf style. He looks so ethereal.

I count myself lucky to own Ashanti as well as Kamau.Sold them years ago, bought them back a few years later and never regretted it I also own a Lahela, which I love. I often thought I would like some other ethnical sculpts from SartoriaJ. Sarah looks very Asian with some face ups, which I adore!

 

Since 2012, I've had Ashanti in every skin tone except gray. I have just 1 Ashanti now, in glow PG she's on the Raffine "Spirit" tattoo body. When I had her in the normal skin tone, she was angelic She looks beautiful in ALL skin tones.

 

I'd also adore more "different face shape" sculpts too, Iplehouse Rania has these gorgeous cheekbones I don't really see on many other dolls except maybe impldoll Mila

I would also like to see more variety in face sculpts, specifically more ethnic features traditionally associated with people of color. Its obviously a large gap for ABJDs that I've only seen getting better with smaller, independent artists usually based outside of Asia. I hope more of the larger companies start to widen their offerings.

Also, the 1/6s dropped, they're very cute! Reading the story SJ crafted for them in the newsletter made their theme a little weird for me, admittedly. seems they are actually getting married not playing pretend bride and groom?? Then I'm like are they not kids then and just extremely childlike adults? I need to not read the newsletters haha

 

I do like the new 1/6 dolls! I'm not sure about he outfits.

 

I felt the same way about their "little ones" story. I read, and reread it and thought, what?

 

I'm glad so many of us are in agreement about wanting more ethnic diversity in sculpts! I'm sure SJ must peek into their DoA threads every now and then (and I always believe they stagger their releases just so there are more discussions and buzz going around). Hopefully they hear what the people want or I will try to gently nudge them under suggestions

I'm choosing to interpret they were turned into vampires very young so they never aged through the decades / centuries like Claudia from Interview with the Vampire (the character SJ's Kate sculpt is based off). Good on them for finding their match because a visible age gap could have never worked (and would've been extremely awkward) haha
