Sartoria J Design Group - Part 2

Are you having long manufacturing times with Sartoriaj? I've been getting most of my dolls in less than 4 months over the last year. (My Matthias order from 11/20 shipped last week.) One outlier has taken 8 months.

 

Then you have been lucky. Most of use have seen from 6 - 10 months.

But,

the end result have been totally worth it.

 

@Bren - Matias may have been release big only once...I was thinking there was some event later that included his closed mouth sculpt in the drop down menu...but I may be dreaming.

I agree it's unfortunate that Jude is no more...he was a versatile sculpt and I always looked forward to seeing new faceups on him.

Having sculpts so LIMITED. is sort of bad because many people who do their own faceups often buy a sculpt after they've seen some owner's photos. So, it benefits a sculpt to be out there a while...to allow customers to receive it and time for people to customize blanks they buy after seeing more of it.

And nice to see your Demian again!

@Ardent - Your Elf Lobelia is gorgeous! Amazing the Adrian faceup looks so great on her...I never would have made that combination.

And shipping times are getting closer to 8 months...for me.

 

@Ardent I love seeing your Lobelia. I would never have thought to use Adrian’s makeup. It looks phenomenal.
@Bren I think I waited 8 months for my three Mintonettes, the last of which is supposedly on her way. I have two in hand. Yikes. I hadn’t really thought about how long this is taking now.

 

Woohoo everyone! Behold my OOAK Angela, misty grey skin, dressed in something I had on hand. She'll get a custom outfit asap.

Oh I mean I like knowing who a doll is before buying them, or at least a rough approximation, the athletic body is a lovely body imo. Beautiful Demian though

 

I totally lost track here ... so many beautiful dolls! Matias, Demian, Lobelia, Angela - love seeing their pictures! Thanks for showing them, this thread is often so quiet for long periods ^^

As for the new dolls - I would love Laura, I really like that mold. But I am so totally out of room for big dolls so I hope there will be a few MSDs too!

 

I'm glad to be seeing owner pictures of the gray elves from summer...but that tells you the wait time right there, that was July I think and we're now in March. Still, they are beautiful dolls.

I'm really hoping they open "standard dolls" for SD soon, and not just MSD, I've been waiting on a chance to buy Silvia for a long time now (not that it's a guarantee she'd be one on offer....)

 

@Ardent it just seemed to me that the wait time was getting longer, that's all. If I had my way it'd only take a month to get the dolls.

These Misty Gray elves are gorgeous. @Frillseeker, your Angela is beautifully done, congrats! I also love @Bren's Demian. That guy is beautiful.

 

De-lurking in this thread to chime in that I'm also still waiting on a Misty Gray Elf Naomi I ordered in August~ About 7-8 months so far? Long Wait, but will be worth it! I'm so excited to see the misty gray releases!

Hello! I'm really interested in carob brown skin. This will be my first Sartoriaj doll. I also asked same question and he said 3-4 months without make up. I've posted his message!

If you order SD size Carob Brown doll now, it will take about 3~4 months without make up.

And if you add make up it will take additional one more months.

For reference, SD size dolls takes about 4~7 months now.

In case of elves, it took more time than other human dolls and we are sending them out in about 7~8 months.

But in case of other dolls, we are sending them sooner in about 3~4 months.


In case of MSD dolls, it takes about 7 months but we are trying to reduce the time period to 5 months.

It's funny that they call this series "The Fifth Season". About the same time they released pictures of the dolls that would run under that banner, I was searching for books to read, and a series came up called 'The Broken Earth", and the first book of the series is called 'The Fifth Season'. It sounded interesting to me and I haven't downloaded it yet, but the premise of the story seems to coincide with the aesthetic of these dolls. So I'm quietly wondering if these dolls are potentially inspired/based on this trilogy.....

 

Thanks @Haven_Of_Dolls336 and @oriscany for Demian. It took me a little while to find his looks. I'm quite pleased how he turned out.

My SD Elf Naomi also arrived with the new MTN Body and I just love it. It's my favorite body of SJ for the girls.

 

@Bren she is beautiful i still waiting my MTN bell size bust Vittoria where I ordered her in November :-) but I ordered her on layaway si next month is last payment and on my order is writing before shipment.
I cant wait to see this body in real.

Thank you. I thought of her as a red head, but none of the wigs would fit and I found this one and it seems to work for her.

This body has the bell bust. It seems more natural looking to me than the Aphrodite one that I have.
I like it better.

Yep. This is the body that I really like the best. Very sleek looking.



You will see a bit of a difference in their Peach Cream Fomula. Both her and Demian is PC, but it's really different.
Demian is more peachy pink like than Naomi, she's more yellowish. He came first and she's my latest one that arrived.

 

@Bren I like this body on picture, but I love curvy aphrodite body as well.
Wow, skin colour is so different and it's really visible.

I received Elf Adrian with makeup in 3 months, Elf Juliet with makeup in 4 months, Elf Jude with makeup in 8 months (quite the difference!) and Matthias is shipped and should arrive just before the 4 month mark.

I wonder if certain skin colors are faster than the others? Maybe the most popular skin color in a given order period gets made and shipped first?

 

@Bren You are right, these mintonettes are spectacular.
@Anita2006 I agree, I like that aphrodite body as well. It's challenging to sew pants for but with the help of a buddy I got a good pattern done.

My Sarah says hello. When I get organized, I'll post a picture of the trio. (I got three, and one day Jay will offer the SDs again.)

 

I have same issues with pants skirts and slim dress patterns but I managed to correct Good eid patterns to fit aphrodite body.

S Mathias from late November arrived. He is truly a stunning doll. I got him in the Zeus body and amber skin.

I wrote to Jay letting him know how blown away I have been by the recent faceups and he shared that he has three artists, and the faceup is always done by the artist that did the original sample makeup for the photos, so it's always the same artist reproducing their work.

@Ardent, S Mathias is gorgeous. The faceup is amazing and I'm glad that you found out that the artist is the original one. Congratulations! I just hope that my Mathias comes soon. I too got the faceup on an Amber resin, but I opted for the beard on the basic head.

 

Did Zakozako do the Matias faceups?

I don't know who the other SJ faceup artists are...they are good right now!

 

Did anyone order a Fifth Season doll? I'm feeling kinda bummed. I thought I might be able to rustle up some funds to actually get one of the girls and I lost track of the order period (I've been working alot lately and the days are beginning to blend together....). So now I'm merely looking wistfully at the pictures.

 

@Bluenocs - I hope some people got them! I want to see how they turn out.

I was really tempted by Nadia...but I have too many outstanding orders from SJ currently going back to last July! So, I dare not order anything else till they start to roll in.

@Bren thank you, I hope so it will happen this year, as my youngster turns 2 and will go to nursery this September, so it would be a nightmare for me to manage twice in a day heavy lifting his buggy and himself. But as everyone in the UK, nobody rushes, and its a game of time.
I got a notice from Sartoriaj that my Vittoria is ready to be shipped, and I have 1 last payment of layaway. Anyway, they said she would be shipped and would send me the last invoice.
It was the shortest time to wait for a doll - 5 months.
I'm happy to get her home. Hope so my high heels and middle high-heel feet will be shipped in the same box.

 

Loved Thunderheart, so handsome! I use to have a doll with eyes like that, but I sold her a couple of months ago.

 

He's pretty special, but he went a name changed between then and now because he took a different character direction than expected. it doesn't usually happen but it did this time. . He's now known as Xi. I love his eyes, they are great.

Well, my SD MNT Vittoria is shipped with some extras. I ordered middle high heel foot's one pair high heels ( red) and ofcourse pair of eyes. Don't know how long it will take to arrive in UK but I'm really happy
Waited only 5.5 months

 

This is going to sound silly but does Sartoria do order periods for their dolls? I've been waiting for them to open up standard doll ordering for the ⅓rd size, but I think I just keep missing the period for it...

 

Actually they haven't began the standard dolls for the 1\3 dolls. They started having basic ones with the 1\4 ones. We still do not know what dolls are going to be basic for the big ones.

 

Right I've been so dang busy I forgot that it was discussed already, I hope they do it eventually

 

Hi, I don’t own any SartoriaJ dolls but I have a Dominic head, and I own some of their clothes (really love the quality). I assume their doll bodies are also great quality and I really love the Matias sculpt, so I think when they release him again, he will be my first real SartoriaJ doll.

 

Intrigued with the latest Tarot teaser Jay dropped, she's looking very Rapunzel-esque haha

 

My Iplehouse girl likes the dress, I hope something doesn't vibe with it so I don't have to buy it

 

From what I can see of it now that Jay dropped the full doll, its gorgeous but the color is a little too baby pink for me. The wig however will most likely be purchased haha.

I have a feeling this sculpt will go the way of Juliet where my first impressions are just sorta meh but then I'll see owner photos and be blown away by how beautiful she is haha. Sartoriaj is one of the only doll companies that truly tempts me with the "you'll never see this sculpt again!" schtick.

 

I really like April´s face, only those huge eyes are somewhat offputting for me. Maybe with eyes with smaller irises .. I love that she looks a bit older, not so very young. If only the eyes were smaller!

 

I find Jay tends to use 14mm where I would prefer 12mm sometimes, so I have a feeling some of the big eye-Ness comes from that.

 

April is exquisite, as is her costume and wig. However, while the pink Rapunzel theme technically "works" as a tower motif (due to the fairy tale associations), to me it doesn't really depict the Tower of the tarot.

Hoping Jay will release the standard "24/7" 1/3 dolls sooner rather than later, and that the head sculpt I'm wishing for, is amongst those released.

 

SD girls are my favorite (Don’t be fooled, I have a huge crew these days, plenty of MSDs, LOL). April is a dream. Maybe I’ll just get the wig and the outfit. I’m running out of room.

I just got my Vittoria on peach cream, high heels, red plums, eyes, and one pair to shear my warm ivory ladies. My waiting was only 5 months... I'm surprised in all ways. Tomorrow I will add pictures of her on Flickr and shear with all of you
She is on an MNT body with a bell type of bust. Just an amazing doll. I love her expression and face looks older not a very young girl. I gave her the name Elisabeth as she reminds me of Kate Blanchet from Golden Age.

 

So funny, I sent my face up artist pictures of Kate Blanchett as Elizabeth when she painted my Vittoria! Congrats on your new girl, love Vittoria.

Agreed, I love April and the Rapunzel theme, but as a representation of Tarot it falls flat for me. Feels like Jay just wanted to do a Rapunzel theme haha.

 

I really really waited for the representation of the Tower card. When I first saw April on Instagram I accidentally read "The Power" and was wondering what card that should be. Now realizing that she represents the Tower I am even more perplexed. She looks nothing like a Tower for me. Yeah, Rapunzel, tower, let down your hair, I get it. Nevertheless I expected something stronger, more masculine for that card. Oh well.

 

@Wittyilynamed it's really funny, Vittoria face have expression of Kate Blandshet of all sides. I just love how she looks.

When the Tarot theme was first announced, my first thoughts were "how will the non-character cards (Tower, World, Wheel of Fortune) be translated into to dolls"? I had no ideas of my own, so while I'm not overly thrilled at a Rapunzel doll, I do think it was a clever interpretation.
Do any of you out there have your own ideas of how these 3 cards might be translated into dolls? I would love to hear your thoughts!

 

Tbf I am...unsure if the dress would fit her (Iplehouse nSID with the small bust) and I don't want to spend close to $200 without some certainty that I won't have to wrestle with it. My biggest concern lies in the arm length of the sleeve since I think Iplehouse put longer arms on the SID than what is on the ⅓rd girls in the Sartoria line.
