I'm a maybe! I'm aiming to be back in the bay area for the meet, but there's a chance I'll get snowed in up in the mountains.
Meetup details for January It’s cold outside! Is it time for scarves and gloves? Fluffy coats? Fur? How does your character dress for the occasion? Theme: Winter’s Embrace Where: 4 Embarcadero Center (right past the entrance to Harborview Restaurant) When: Sunday, January 21st Time: 1pm As always, first post of the thread is also updated with details.
Awesome, I'll be there too! Here's what I'll be bringing in hopes someone will want all of it. Everything's from a smoke/pet-free home and well taken care of. Giveaways Looking forward to seeing everyone's dolls!
I'm an extremely tentative maybe. Probably not. But the surgery got pushed to February so who knows what might happen!
I'll def be there. Just trying to decide which dolls to bring lol. If anyone has any requests from my profile, please let me know. :3
Hi all! This is your gentle reminder that our meetup is coming up this Sunday (1/21). It looks like we will have a really amazing amount of folks (currently 7 yes, 3 maybes), and I can't wait to see everyone and their resin companions. Location: For folks who haven't been out before, we meet 'inside' the building at the big round permanent tables, located at ground level, near the bottom of the escalators and the elevator bank. This area is safe from rain, sun, and wind. It is technically outside though, so make sure to dress warm as needed. If you are running late or can't make it after all, posting a curtesy message here to the thread is greatly appreciated. Then we won't wonder what happened to you. See you all there!
Thanks for the detailed description! I haven't been to a doll event since Dolpa LA in 2017—looking forward to seeing everyone's dolls and hoping someone will find a good home for the things I'm bringing. See you all Sunday!
Yay! A good crowd this time! I will definitely be bringing my Volks F-72 because it's her turn for some shots on the spiral and maybe my Dollstown Elysia if I feel up to hauling two.
oh, i should be able attend! i haven't done anything doll-related in....a while, but i should be able dig things up and make my darlings presentable
I will try my best to 3d print some free things for giving out! What sizes would be best for folks here? 1/3?1/4?
That's so thoughtful! I don't need anything, so feel free to exclude me from your count. In fact, a big reason why I'm going to the meet (other than seeing everyone's dolls) is in hopes that people will take some things off my hands!
I would LOVE to take that little Shigekuma plush I saw in one of your packs off your hands, if you'd be willing to split the set! (Unfortunately I'm also mostly trying to get rid of things too and would rather the other items go to someone who will use them.) I have the Setsu plush, but I never go to go to any Volks events where Shigekuma was a gift T_T Also I think you can move me to confirmed, @MacaronTea. Heading back to the bay area tomorrow. Now I'm just debating bringing my Ludo vs. my Andre for now.
@St. James I’m terrified of taking him anywhere because every Ludo is some degree of cursed, but mine seems ultra cursed. Maybe I can take him somewhere to get blessed and/or exorcised if I let him leave the house
Unfortunately, I'd rather keep the whole thing together, but I imagine if someone grabs everything you could ask them if you could get the bear?
@Astro Then I change my vote to Blessed Andre! @MacaronTea You can add M to the list, you know she'll be with me.
The rest of that stuff looks like something I could use, and you're welcome to the bear because I've got several already! I could use the MSD stand too.
@MacaronTea I don't think mojodollz(IG) is on DoA, but I told her about the meet and she said she'll probably be coming, too!
Hi all! Due to the rainy weather, my health has been on and off plus I'm a bit way of bringing my dolls out in the rain... I'll sit this one out and hope for a healthier and sunnier February meetup!
Since health stuff has been a bit frustrating, I won't be able to make it to this one Please take tons of pictures!!! I miss seeing everyone and their dolls
I keep checking the rain forecast and it looks like it's moving into the area around 5-6pm. So hopefully it will stay at it's current travel speed, and we will be able to enjoy ourselves. *cross fingers* Note to new folks: To help set expectations, our meets are a bit shorter right now due to the short sunlight window of Winter. We tend to pack up when twilight is hitting or if we all get too cold. Summer meets we tend to linger around the area much longer. See everyone soon!
I’m by the spiral flower fountain. I’ve never been to a meet here so I’m not sure if this is the right place.
Thanks for coming out everyone! Was great to chat with regulars and meet so many new faces too. We had such an amazing variety of dolls this time.
It was great meeting you and thank you for organizing! Really cool to see so many people and their lovely dolls.
Biggest group yet in the "new" meetup place! I wasn't expecting such a good turnout! So lovely to meet new people and harass old friends again~ I'll try to add some pics to the photo thread later on...
*gasps* Bummer! Despite that I subscribed to this thread and ensured that I get updates in my e-mail, I never received any notifications, and totally missed this gathering. I'll have to go back and check the settings again so that I don't miss anything. I see that another meeting is scheduled for March. I will be away at a business conference on the first weekend of that month in SoCal, otherwise, I'll keep my calendar open March.
Hi I’m new to the area and I don’t go on DOA often but I’m really interested in joining! I may be confused is this for march? Seems like people are saying it already happened Do y’all have a discord or Facebook page? Sorry for all the questions haha
Welcome! Do you live in the city? The January meetup happened, and the thread title gets update after the meetup happens and the next one is still in planning stages so people know it's upcoming, but I was wondering why it's March as well, are we skipping Feb? I wouldn't be able to make February but I might be able to make March!
RE: I can imagine the factors behind not having a meeting in February. The weather has been absolutely unpredictable this month, and in some parts of the Bay Area, we've been hit with mudslides, and trees falling over on roads, freeways, homes, and powerlines, due to the heavy rainfall and winds resulting in some of us being out of power. Also, it's a little hard to find an indoor venue that will accept a group like ours (though I can't imagine why; we don't bite... much), or is reasonably priced for all of us to chip in for the expenses for the place itself or the food; there's a lot of organization and planning behind making sure all the expenses are covered before attending. It can also be because the organizer wants a break in between the two months so they have plenty of time before planning the next gathering. Don't get me wrong; we love getting together, but at the same time, some of us work full time (and not necessarily on the weekdays) or we have families that we need to keep in mind as well. Hope this gives you a little insight into why there is a break in between the two months.
Oh, I'm well aware. I also work full time and have to ask a month in advance if I want specific days off. But yeah the weather has been brutal lately, I had to call a coworker to come rescue me the other day because all our streets were flooded lol. I was just curious and wanted to make sure I didn't miss something.
Not sure how we typically decide since it’s my first meet but the 24th is good for me! Side note if anyone lives in Oakland and wants to ride the Bart together from 12th st. Let me know!
Hi folks, things have been busy for me as I've moved and now trying to dig out from under it all. It doesn't help that DoA doesn't email me thread notifications anymore and I can't seem to figure out why. Do we want to meet on Sunday March 17th or the 31st? (I'm not able to swing our usual 4th Sunday this month.)
