Rosette 'School of Dolls'... Mini discussion Part 1

ranger12 Here's a picture of almost her full (still nekkid) body. Her legs were really too long to fit into the frame (no complaints though!!)





elsii I did not have to mod either the head or the body! There is just a tiny little gap between the head and the neck, although it's only visible if you look at it from the bottom. I'm not sure about other soulkids, but Ai is wearing a 6/7 wig that doesn't even require effort to plonk onto her head. That should say something about her head size ;D

 

Hypercurve, for me, the deciding factor was the amount of Tonner/Gene clothes I had left over from my fashion doll collecting days - they fit the Muse body very well (with few issues, which I will post once I'm done trying on what I have). I am very lucky to have all this clothes because Rosette girls can be difficult to dress due to their unique shape. Interestingly, the shirt I ordered from Soom that is supposed to fit Rosettes isn't really a good fit - it is too loose and fits just as well as most Tonner tops and worse than Gene tops. But, if massive amounts of fashion doll clothes is not a problem that you have, then it's a very difficult choice - both bodies are beautiful in their own way.

In other news my Violet is still making her way to Canada for her faceup. Poor girl must be so lonely

I also put a LTF sleeping head on Wink's body last night just for stuffs and giggles and it looks all kinds of wrong! (maybe cos she's got her cleavage showing in Wink's dress) I'll get a picture for you guys sometime this week.
Oh boy, I think I'm tired and should be in bed cos I'm beginning to babble now...

 

Anna: Thanks. I sew most of my doll's clothes, so dressing my marguerite won't be a problem
Is the pure body too long and lanky compared to the muse body? I love them both (in photos), but don't know about the poseability, or if handling the long body is a little awkward.

Guh! Loving the hybrids guys I am seriously thinking of doing the very same (I wont ever do it since that would be having to find a rosette body or buying a whole new girl and I couldn't part with the heads x__X)

elsii, I have a friend in Sydney who I will be visiting eventually - how far away are you? Margarita and I will come to visit, if it's possible And, even though I've said it before, Yumi looks awesome on the Rosette body!

Hypercurve, if you sew yourself, then it's definitely a difficult choice! I can't compare the poseability of the two bodies, as I just have the Muse body at home, but the Pure body does have the extra waist joint that adds to the doll's range of movement. The Pure body is lankier than the Muse body for sure, but, I don't think that it makes the Pure body more awkward, as so many people love and enjoy the original Rosette body - this thread is 125 pages long for a reason!

violetpoof, I tried about 5 different wig styles on her and she looked great in them all - something that I haven't experienced with a doll before. I had a very difficult time picking a wig for her, but decided to go with the tight curls, as most of my other dolls have straight or wavy hair. I think the slightly wild curls add to her gentle charm. I will definitely be posting more pictures!

Snow - she is gorgeous! I love the blushing on her hands and feet!

Hippolovergurl - thank you! I am so in love with her! Don't get me wrong, I love all of my dolls, but Margarita is very, very special Your Rose is very beautiful! Is that Camellia?

HLG, I love this thread. When I joined everyone was so friendly, and I came in asking a stupid question cause I had no clue about these dolls, and didn't even know which one I wanted yet, and everyone was so nice, too. I really like that And my Rosette was a surprise at first, but once I secured the layaway I came in and told I am getting the Violet Wings of Tomorrow with wings and outfit and all, in her box and everything. I am so excited!!! I hope this week doesn't end up feeling longer than it is in the end

I agree with posting hybrids. As long as one part is Rosette it should be ok, no? I know I'd love to see

Snow, I have a fabric backdrop somewhere, but I was afraid of it falling, so I nailed it to the wall in the corners with little 1/2 inch nails Someone would have to pull hard for that to come down

Pearl, I love her, she's gorgeous! And you're right about the hands! I hadn't noticed that yet!

Anna, congratulations on your arrival, and thanks so much for sharing! She is really lovely and looks great in that dress I agree with posting this info in the clothing database. I think those pictures and your information are really helpful!
I also want to go for long tight curls. The problem I have is that I may want to leave her as a redhead and it's hard to find carrot wigs with long tight curls. If anyone has any suggestions, please post them

Hypercurve, I think it's personal preference, but I'm going for the Pure because it's different, slender, long, and just cute!

elsii- lol....or she is plotting against me. Her and my other dollies were a bit miffed at me for the last two weeks neglect.

Giodrakes- Ooooh! She is will gorgeous! Violet was the original Rosette I was going to get, but changed to Camellia at the last second. I may still get Violet one of these days, but it will be in the faaaaaaaaar off future lol I still have nearly 13 Iplehouse characters I need to shell. Do you have a name picked out for your Violet?

And I know exactly what you mean! When I joined this thread, there were zero daily active members and the thread got a post in it about once every two weeks. Now, with the arrival of the WOT dolls and Muses, this thread is bumpin' with amazing people!


I think the rule is whatever head is on the doll determines what discussion thread it belongs to....but I won't be the tattle-tail here! Too many beautiful dolls!

Giodrakes, I am taking pictures as I try on my Tonner/Gene stuff, so once I have more information, I'll definitely be posting in that thread. I think that the measurements for Pure and Muse are pretty much the same, save for leg length, no? If so, then a lot of what I'm finding to fit my Margarita will fit the Pure girls, with some obvious adjustments - pants will be too short, for example. But, other than that, my findings could easily be applied to the Pure girls, especially with skirts and tops.

I actually was on the hunt for a red tight-curled wig myself just recently and, unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything that I liked. The only thing I did find was the same one as my Margarita wears, but in Auburn - http://www.leekeworld.com/En/Product/p_view.asp?it_code=1715&B_catalog_num=22. Auburn is a nice color, but, unfortunately, it's sold out in Rosette size and has been for a while now.

Everyone, just a quick question. There was a thread made a while back for Muse girls - http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?451795. Do you think I should just post there from now on, or stick around here? That thread seems pretty dead, though... last post was on July 15.

 

Stay here with us! that goes for all muse owners, too. We want your muse love You know... If you want to that is Or both! As long as there is more Rosette love that's the important thing yes.

 

I really do want to stay! This thread is fun and everyone is great! The two bodies are different, but not THAT different. Faces are all the same after all

Here's a quick picture of Margarita trying on a Tonner skirt. Fits perfectly on her hips (meant to fit Tonner dolls around the waist, but Margarita has a smaller waist, so it slides down just a tad). Picture is a bit out of focus because it was already evening and not enough light.

Kordelia got her clothes today and man, did I have to take them in to make them fit xD Dollzone MSD's are obviously a ton bigger than Rosette's. Not even the stockings fit her. Instead of the odd balloon skirt that came with it (thought they were bloomers :/ ) she's now wearing a petticoat.
I also got my new tiny brush so my faceup palooza can start soon.
I hope her wig and shoes arrive soon c:

 

I finally got Zoe's wig today that I ordered back in March XD And got her a little pocketwatch at the same time!




Now I just need her 12mm eyes to arrive and she'll be ready for trouble!

Just a quick note. I updated the Rosette clothing database with information about Gene stuff. I am still working on trying out the Tonner clothes, so I'll update with that sometime later this week. Hope that was helpful to some of you

I changed Peri's hands this evening and I really forgot how much I dislike doing that on these girls. It's the one thing that makes me grumpy at her, but to look at the bright side at least there's almost 0 chance of the elastic and S-hook snapping back into the resin depths of her body thanks to the limited openings. Now she's full of attitude because I swore at her.

elsii, yep, I bet it would fit very well! I have Brenda Starr stuff as well I totally sympathize about the hand issue. I had such a difficult time taking off her hands!

Thank you Anna I want different stockings for her tho. She's standing with the rest of my dolls now and she just looks clownish/like a bee. I'd like fishnet stockings for her, like my other two Marcia's have, but her legs are way too thin =_= So maybe I can make them myself or so. Dunno, not that skilled xD

 

Snow, I actually liked her stockings But, I just recently started trying to sew myself and began with socks - they are pretty easy to do, even for someone like me, so I bet you can do it! Maybe start with cotton and work your way up to fishnet. Either way, your girl is gorgeous!
