RosenLied discussion part 1

Apr 27, 2011

    1. Thanks kayjay! I agree chocolat and Beige are nice sculpts. I like Clover, too.

Sugarbabylove outfits are the bet, but sell out so fast.

    2. Oliveoil, I really love your Noah but I can't see the eyebrows. As for the mouth, when I saw her for sale, I didn't like how the mouth had been done. I love DerekJ's faceups, but on this one the mouth just looks basic. My two DerekJ's have more colours in the painting, whereas this looks kind of flat. I think how she painted the eyes is amazing though. I have a Rollingpumpkin Noah and even though I loved him, there was something off. It was the size of the eyes. I bought a smaller pair from RL and put them in where he is looking up. With the extra white showing, he looks so much cuter. I love him now where before he looked kind of bug eyed. I like my dolls to have white showing and RL tends to have the whole eye filled with colour. I love their eyes too. I have spent a fortune on eyes from them. As for not putting in the eyelashes, that really surprises me. That is not their limited artists, it is the whoever people. They should hire someone else who is thinking of making the customer happy. I would have probably got myself in a snit and not got the doll, but then I would have been the person that suffered. You were smart to just suck it up and get her anyways. I have put eyelashes in, but it is a pain. My last limited doll from Kana has a loose eyelash, but I have left it to a day where I feel like changing the eyes and then I will fix it. Just the corner is loose, but it is too hard to fix with eyes in.

    3. Thanks Shashy. I prefer smaller eyes too. :)

    4. Hi, I just wanted to share with you a picture of Symphonie, my Flora, in her new RL dress :)

    5. She is lovely! I saw her on Flickr this morning. Your Flora inspired me to get her. :)
      Did you make the dress?

    6. Meïko, your photo of Flora is really lovely! She looks innocent :)

    7. Meiko - your Flora is lovely, so pretty :aheartbea

    8. Thank you so much ! :aheartbea
No I didn't make her dress (I wish I could, but I can't sew), it's a basic outfit from Rosenlied.

    9. My little Flana will get a twin :) For some reason I am so enarmored with the Rose mold ... got the new boy today :D

    10. Congrats! I was looking at him earlier, he's a beautiful doll

    11. kayjay, did Jerome arrive? Are you happy with her?

    12. She arrived just yesterday and I love her :aheartbea. I think her resin colour is yummy, it's almost peachy which is great as I'm not so keen on pink skin. I've just uploaded some box opening pics on Flickr and here she is straight from the box:

    13. She is lovely! I found your photos on flickr too.
      Congratulations!

    14. Thank you, I think she's just lovely. Why Rosenlied dolls aren't more popular on DoA I just don't know?!

    15. why so hard search about rosenlied poseable T_T

    16. Many thanks for posting how oskar eyes looks like on WEdnesday Child, I've just bought my first BJD (Rosa limited edition) and thinking about buying extra eyes for my beauty, but wasn't sure how oskar eyes really looks like on WC dolls!

    17. Gosh this thread is quiet, no idea why as I totally love my RL Weds Jerome, in fact she's the only slim mini doll that I want to keep! I really want to get her a sister this year too.

New Sweater by Junipa by kayjay1809, on Flickr

    18. kayjay, she is so lovely in that sweater. I love it. By the way I noticed you said you have a Dandelion. I do as well and love her but she is an odd size for finding clothes. Maybe I need to find knitted clothes for her. I do have a gorgeous antique white cotton dress for her that she was wearing until I stole it for an antique doll a few days ago. She may get it back because the clothes she is wearing don't do her justice. I also have a really nice Rosen Lied Wednesday Limited outfit but I am not sure it will fit and it is very frilly. Dandelion may not suit that type of RL dress. Maybe a basic dress would be better. Have you tried RL clothes on your Dandelion?

    19. Shashy - thanks, the sweater is by Junipa on Etsy, I have several things knitted by her and all are lovely. In fact my Dandelion is wearing a SD sweater at the moment, it is a bit big but suits her. Mine is the latest incarnation, so I don't know if she has the same body as yours? She's much chunkier and bigger than RL so the RL clothes just do not fit at all. I'm going to try clothing for Kaye Wiggs or Dollstown when I can as I think they might fit her better. And I have a pattern, if I ever get around to sewing, that I want to try. I've found any slim mini stuff fits my RL girl very well, so she is lucky and has a nice wardrobe.

    20. I'm guessing this is the better place to discuss the Holiday's Child size so, thought I'd pop in and post some photos now my first girl of this size has arrived!:aheartbea

She's a The One: Butterfly Miu with faceup and eye modification by Oscar and outfit by Moi Atelier... a DOOM combination for me as I always seem to end up bringing a doll home whenever they work together!:sweat

Usually any doll bigger than a yo sd size with an immature body is an instant no no for me, and I always knew it was going to take a pretty spectacular doll to make me take a risk with the Holiday's Child size. Now she's here and I've really had a look at the body, I haven't changed my opinion at all in that it's just too childlike for my tastes. Moreover, I really don't like the way they've done the joints on this body. Sure, the doll poses a lot better than any other RosenLied doll I own --and I have all the sizes now-- but the giant ball joints are very aesthetically unpleasing.
Saying that though, once she's dressed all that just melts away and she's absolutely perfect!
I think it might have something to do with the fact that she's a butterfly and so I see her more as a fantasy creature than a child but, either way, I'm thrilled with her!

The Holiday's Child size is so bizarre though, she looks like a BEAST sat next to my Unoa girls as everything about her, the head in particular, is just MASSIVE! xD

      Anyway, photo time!:D
I took photos with her against the Wednesday's Child size also for comparison! (see the Tuesday's Child thread for more comparisons)
Please excuse how dark the photos are. No natural light when I was taking them combined with shaky sick hands results in poor photo quality!

    21. Congrats, she is a stunner. I think she's a similar size to my Bimong Dandelion who is much chunkier than my Weds girl, they can't really display together as the aesthetic is so different although I think as your girls are united by the faceups and outfits they look very pretty together. I'm with you on the ball joints, which is what stopped me ordering one as I found them quite ugly however on the other hand I do like the naivety of them, they are what they are ie ball jointed dolls! And I prefer child dolls to adults so I might get one in the future.

    22. Thank you midnitestar7 for the comparison photos. I do like the holiday child's size in comparison to the Wednesday child.
The stocky ness of them kinda reminds of porcelain dolls.
May I may consider getting one one day... When they get rereleased...? And when I can afford one (need to renovate my kitchen :( )

    23. hello~ ^^
came visiting from the rosenlied tuesday side of the forum through kayjay's link~
      haha..

@kayjay Thanks for the link... Got to see your lovely Jerome due to it.. ^^
She looks really pretty & kinda shy looking in the first pic, but I guess she has settled in your home by the second pic~
I really like the warm tones you styled her in.. so cozy~ ^^

@midnitestar7 The three of them gathered together, seems like what I imagine a fairy court would look like~ >u<
They look like they came straight out of a fairytale~

    24. Okay, I have sincerely wanted Rosenlied Flora since years now and always put the thought away, but darn she's too cute! I will probably order her soon and wanted to crawl out of the dark to say hello to you lovelies.

    25. I can recommend Rosenlied dolls, they are as beautiful in reality as they are in their photographs. I hope you get your Flora soon. Rosenlied have been doing layaway recently but only for their limited dolls sadly.

    26. Thanks for your kind words! If I save tightly maybe I can get her next month, it's just unfortunate I don't like her basic face up much... I love Rosenlied's faceup service and this would be one of the rare cases where I'd stick to the face up of the company, but I vastly prefer their limited face ups... Maybe I'll be lucky and they cook something up? Haha.

    27. I might be crazy! I just ordered Limited Mignon - Tea Garden (Holiday Child). I couldn't resist her, she looks so adorable. I don't need her and I don't know what I'm going to do with her, but I couldn't resist. Poor thing is the only one who's not sold out from the latest limited dolls from RL. She looked so abandoned and rejected :)

Can't wait to have her and see her with my own eyes :fangirl:

    28. Be-life - congratulations!! She's really pretty, her faceup is beautiful and I love the fabric used in her dress. I'm sure you'll love her!

    29. Thank you! I'm still shocked, lol, I thought they looked like big babies but now I've fell for one :) I love Rosen Lied dolls, have many Tuesday and some Monday, but this is my first MSD RL doll. I've fallen for some Wednesday dolls too but never bought them (some limited are on my wishlist now). I loved the fabric and the dress too, as well as the wig and eyes, but her face-up was the thing that attracted me more :aheartbea

    30. Congratulations, what a nice pick! I hope you will love your new one a lot!

    31. And I have ordered a beautiful Basic Flora now. I cannot stand the anticipation, aahh! :D
      :doh

    32. Congrats Ivory, I love Flora, great choice!

    33. Thanks so much, I am already so excited, haha! I'm currently raiding all the fabric stores in the city to craft her some nice clothes!

    34. has anyone seen limited Basic Mignon? She has little teeth :) I love the mold, she's so cute, can't wait for my limited to arrive. Mignon is the cutest Holiday doll, in my opinion...

    35. Oh she's very cute isn't she? I'm not one for teeth usually but they really suit her.

    36. So, I have been avoiding DOA because I've been telling myself I have enough dolls LOL!

But I saw photos of the Holiday's Child dolls on Flicker and I am completely smitten. I know that I am in the minority when it comes to my tastes, but I have been positively longing for a mid-sized doll with child-like proportions! In my opinion so many of them have child-like faces, but the slender, busty bodies are not for me. I adore all of the Wednesday's child head sculpts, but not the bodies. The Holiday's children are perfect for my needs!

Be-Life, congratulations on your Limited Mignon! Yes please post photos as soon as she arrives :) I am also considering the basic Mignon. They are all adorable, but my favorite is Miu. I have asked RL if they would be releasing another time limited basic version of her sometime, and they assured me they would but they didn't know when. Maybe I will get Mignon as soon as they release her, and then get her a sister later!

I found this blog post http://rosedrop99.blog95.fc2.com/blog-category-33.html and it seems clothes made for MSD will fit, but are longer on HC. Does anyone know about shoe sizes for them? And wigs and eyes?

    37. Hello Tami, nice to see you around again!! I love the Holiday Child too, and really wish I'd ordered Miu when she was available so am pleased to hear they will release her again. I do have some adult dolls but I much prefer the childlike ones and the Holiday ones look for all the world to me as 'big' Tuesday Child dolls. I hope you manage to get your Mignon, I'm quite tempted by the other one myself. I wish Mignon didn't have the teeth, as I think she is slightly cuter than Bebe.

    38. kayjay Nice to see you again too!:) I thought they looked like bigger Tuesday's Child dolls as well.

I have asked RL if they will be posting blank photos of Bebe and Mignon like they did with the other limited basics. I expect to hear from them tomorrow. I will be ordering blank, and want to see if I can paint Mignon without teeth. I truly think they are all adorable! Do you know if there have only been two releases of the basics? (Meaning the Miu and BonBon with yellow and red dresses and now these two?) I really want one right away, but I would so disappointed if I buy Mignon and then they suddenly re-release Miu and I have no money LOL!

    39. That's an interesting idea to paint her without the teeth, I hadn't thought of that. I think yes there have only been those two basics so far, in the period before Christmas. I don't think they would release a Miu soon after this release, but maybe a layaway would be offered if they did. Rosenlied tend to state a month ahead what will be released and what I like about them is they don't 'over release' like Lati do, so they don't seem to get overwhelmed with orders. So fingers crossed it would be another few months before Miu is released for a second time.

    40. They've posted pictures of the cuties without make-up, but I already knew you could paint Mignon without teeth because the one I ordered has no teeth (limited edition). Aren't they cute? I would love to see more pictures of owners though, can't wait to see mine in person :)

    41. I know Be-Life! I have been scouring the net for owner photos, and I guess they are too new and too limited. I hope you will post loads of photos when you get your girl!

I saw the photos without makeup, and I also spotted the limited girl you ordered on their website! They are all adorable! I think the teeth are cute, but I like to do my own faceups and I don't think I could paint teeth!

    42. Can I ask those with Holiday Children, do they wear 8-9 or 9-10? I might have put Bebe on layaway :) Rosenlied say her head measures 9".

    43. Congratulations Kayjay!!! Hope to order my girl next week!

    44. Thanks Tami! I found some lovely pics of Miu on Flickr so she's on my wishlist as Bebe's friend when she's next released.

    45. Wooh, they re-released some Wednesday Child Outfits! Did they find a few in their storage? After I ordered this one it was marked as Sold Out immediately, haha.
My little Flora should be sent out soon, I am already ridiculously excited.

I do not have a Holiday Child unfortunately, but my experience is that it's best to choose the smallest wig size possible; looks more natural when it clings to the head more. :)
But I hope someone with a Holiday Child on hand can give you more than a vague recommendation. :aheartbea

    46. Ivory, congratulations on your incoming Flora and her new dress.

Kayjay, there are new photos of "our" Holiday's Child girls in the website with wonderful carrot-colored mohair wigs! I am happy to see them because a carrot mohair wig is what I have purchase for my Mignon. I have not ordered my doll yet, but I did buy her a wig. LOL. I have also been looking at more photos of Bebe, Bonbon, and Miu where I can find them and I think I want all four of these cuties! :o
Not that I will get them, but it's fun to wish!

    47. Ivory - looking forward to seeing Flora
Tami - yes I've seen the new wigs, they are lovely. I think I want two Holiday Children, hopefully getting Miu at some point in the future. I ordered mine with a faceup but didn't realise that for $5 extra they will put eyelashes on. So I emailed Rosenlied and honestly, they are so nice and such a good company to order from. They've assured me they've put a note on the order even though they can't change it once it's been placed. I'm going to order Bebe a dress and wig at some point before she comes home too, just so she's not naked. I asked on the Flickr group and an owner of a Holiday Child says they fit into standard MSD clothes as long as they're not tight as the Holiday Child is chubbier and shorter than usual MSDs. I'm hoping I can adjust some of my Kish doll patterns to make her an outfit when she's home too.

    48. So you got a Bebe, Kayjay, congratulations! I want a Miu too :fangirl:. You're right, they are a very nice company, and have a great quality overall, especially clothes.

Tami, they're really cute, all of them :fangirl:.

    49. Hello!
My little Flora finally arrived and I am so happy with her! This is by far the most beautiful doll I have handled so far, even though my photos don't really do her justice.

Her Box-Opening (including a photostory, haha!) is here: Rosalie is cheering up my house!

Rosenlied accidentally sent me the wrong wig though. Woops. But they will send me the correct one and even let me keep the one I have already recieved, aren't they wonderful?

    50. Ivory, your girl is lovely! Flora is such a beautiful mold.

Here is Viviane, my Holiday Child Bonbon:

    51. Hi everyone,

Looking again at Rosenlied and gosh do I love those Holiday child dolls but can't choose between Bebe or Mignon, so maybe I wait for the new holiday season dolls hopefully around summer :)

Ashemanu, your Bonbon is very pretty!

Ivory, congrats on your new girl, she's sweet!

    52. Congratulations Ivory, your Flora is beautiful and I agree, Rosenlied do produce the most beautiful dolls
Ashemanu - I love your Bonbon, it's great to see one so different from default

    53. Congratulations Ivory! Your Flora is beautiful. I love the Flora sculpt. My Emma Jean (Flora) is one of my favorites. RL make lovely dolls and such nice customer service.

Ashemanu! Wow, does she look different! I love the dark lips. :)

    54. Thanks all for the nice comments :)

Oliveoil: Yes, she has come a long way miles- and colorwise ^^ Thank you ;)

    55. Ivory, your Flora is gorgeous!!! I love that sculpt!

Ashemanu, Your Bonbon is lovely! I have ordered Mignon, but if they rerelease the first two as time limited basics again, I am going to be hard pressed to decide which one. I thought at first Miu for sure, but the more I see of Bonbon, the more I fall for her as well!

    56. I definitely want a Miu if they release one I like (that isn't so limited I have no chance of getting her).

I have more Weds news! I've traded a doll and am expecting tan Daisy to arrive in the next few days :) My poor nameless Jerome (honestly she's had so many names but none seem to stick) is very excited to be getting a sister

    57. Here's my new girl, with her sister (they're so pleased to be reunited again, they can't stop chattering ;) )

    58. Waht a lovely pair! I have never seen a tan RL in person, but the color is beautiful in your photo!

    59. The colour is lovely, really rich and chocolatey without being orange, and she's so pretty, I feel so lucky to have found her :)

    60. Tan Daisy is beautiful, you are so lucky...

Do these girls wear MSD size clothing?
