Thank you, I did read that but it says to 'ensure your doll is entered in the fashion show', I didn't know whether I had to do that in advance or on the day. I understand that we can only enter one category, homemade or bought, at least I have a bit of time to decide which one depending if I can get something made.

 

Ah. Sorry I misunderstood. The best dressed competition is part of the fashion show, all it means is you need to make sure you're doll is part of that. The fashion show / best dressed happen on the day, no prebooking or anything is required

Also a friendly reminder. The Venue DOES NOT have any car parking space. the few space there is there has been reserved for guests and ourselves. Alternate parking can be found nearby.

At the end of the month I will be giving out contact details for the day as well as meeting information! Ill post up information on here to assure everyone gets it. But it will also go up on the website.

OH my not feeling good about my entry now Im a bad photographer owell i had a bash at it lol

 

hehe. I'm of a similar mind Mothertiggy, but as most creative projects are subjective, my feeling is there's no such thing as bad art/photgraphy, just differences of opinion

On aanother note, both my dolls have made it into the country and hopefully my first one will get home tonight (ironically the date of the competition deadline!... good job I didn't wait 'till a doll arrived to enter!). I'm so exited and I really hope I have enough time to get one (or both) dressed for the convention!... and that we manage to find somewhere to stay, lol - probably quite important,that one!

 

Is anyone staying at the holiday express in (on Armouries Drive) on the friday the night before??

Oh, If anybody wants to contribute to the event book, now is the time to do it. I'll be getting that finished in the next couple of weeks.

You can submit photographs / Photo stories (of reasonable size), Art and Articles If there is place then I will put them in for all to see!

 

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn, but I have no idea what time we'll make it. Might not check in until after 10pm depending on journey time. I'll be around at breakfast on Saturday before heading off though, I expect. Either way, we're not hard to spot - I've got very long hair and my friend vaguely resembles a certain off-duty pirate

 

LOL thats funny will look for a pirate eating breakfast ,myself and my friend will look for you i am tall and a larger lady and my friend is tall and slim both have brown shoulder length/long hair

We'll be staying in the Travel lodge at Leeds Central if any one else will be there? We decided to book a hotel the night before, the alternative was getting up about 4/5am to get there ><

 

Thats the same reason we decided to stay would have to leave here at 4 to get there on time .

 

Can't believe it's this weekend! After a slight panic over no babysitter, I think I've sorted it out - now just got to sort transport out. I have a car but don't trust it on the motorway! It's very old! Is anybody going on the train through manchester? Think that's what I'm going to do as although the megabus is only £2.00, it'd mean I get there at 7.30am!

While people are discussing plans for travel;

There will be a person to meet everyone at the station from 8:30. (who this is is yet to be confirmed) The guide will set off at 9:10 and no later (as it is a 25 minute walk)

As such, Those who are coming by train please ensure you arrive in time to walk with this group, as there will be no other escorts and you may have to find your way to the venue alone (although we have provided brilliant directions so it should be easy peasy)

If people wish to let me know what time they get to the station then feel free and I will let the guide know. Contact details incase of any problems will be given out next week too by PM / email.

Anyone coming by coach, again, let us know if you plan to join the guide

Me and Mr Ishy will be at the train station around 9:30 and getting a taxi from there (I have orders to be lazy before my date with the scalpel). If anyone else is going to be there around that time and wants to jump in, just give me a poke

 

I actually live in Leeds fairly close to where this is going to happen, so if I run into the group coming from the station while I'm walking there, well, I'll watch out for people carrying doll-shaped bags . . .

Incidentally, beading is one of my hobbies, and I'll be bringing some varieties of small beads and my tools, etc, to Rosadoll. (Now how many boxes of beads can I fit in my pull-along thing?) So if you're looking for a quick necklace or bracelet or something on the spot, I may be able to assist.

 

Where abouts in Leeds do you live?

 

Butcher Street, in the Roundfoundry area, about five minutes walk along Water Lane from Bridgewater Place (aka the Dalek).

 

We'll meet every one at the train station and be walking with the main group!

I'm getting the train from York so hope to be there about 9ish, I'll be the hot and harassed looking one with a large wheeled suitcase because it's the only thing I can fit my dolls in. Will probably fasten it to my wrist on the train so no-one pinches it - now where did I put those padlocks?

I am really getting excited now, been and picked up the train tickets today and I have sorted out the things I am bringing to sell!

@ Pippin - Myself, Mrs Lovett and Foxface will be getting on the Leeds train at Manchester Picadilly so just keep an eye out for three people looking very confused will doll bags slung over our backs

Can't wait to meet some new people and dollies!!!!!!

 

Can I just ask... I am on the official site looking at the best dressed competition, and it says "You can enter as many of your dolls as you wish but only in one category"

Does this mean I can't enter one doll in each? Depending on the answer, I may need to change who I bring

Hi, just to clarify on the best dressed competition, if I bring 2 dolls, one with a home-made outfit and one bought I know I can only enter one in a competition but is it ok just to put the other one in the fashion show?

 

Yup, As many dolls as you want can be entered into the fashion show. Extra details will be provided on the day depending on how many dolls are entered people may have to submit them all in groups. Otherwise some people may be left out.

 

Will raffle tickets be on sale on the day or do we have to buy them in advance ??

 

They are avaliable upuntil the raffle is drawn. so you have from now until the end of the con!

FANTASTIC NEWS THAT ITS ALL FULLY BOOKED! I didn't think I could be any more excited then I am right now xD

 

Hey, I just wanted to check if you'll have a card machine for the bring and buy sale. I have no idea how much I'll be spending and don't want to carry too much cash. ^_^

 

The bring and buy is essentially a car boot, as we are selling other peoples items. It is cash only, however we will ensure there is adequate change.

There are also nearby cash machines so if need be you can nip accross at lunch if you see things you want to buy

 

@ Miss L - Will look for you if I do go by train, my mum might be driving me and then going out for the day with my daughter. Are you going on the 8ish train?

Even more excited now than I was last week and I'm pretty sure who I'm bringing!

 

@pippin, I think our train is at 8.40 ish as we are coming from Barrow first lol

I have finally decided who to take, it's gonna be a Delf extravaganza from Foxy

Mal (Luwen) will be entering the homemade outfit competition in a hakama inspired outfit made from genuine kimono silk... his partner 'Miah (NNR07) will tag along in a frilly, girly but definitely not cross-dressing Luts outfit (not to enter the comp, but just to be on the fashion parade) and I will bring my recently finished (and 2 years in the making) Breakaway, Dyce, to be my sassy little arm candy for the day whilst the other two lounge around on a table looking pretty

Worst case scenario, I encounter some sort of waking-up-at-5:30-operator-error I'm happy to find my own way there. Blackberry google maps ftw

Will hopefully be accompanied by my three ladies, maybe two, still not sure if I'm up for wrangling three SDs all day, hmm.

 

I intend catching the 0840 from York so should be there in time to walk with the group, bringing 3 with me and by the time I am heading home that will probably be 2 too many!
