ROSADOLL UK BJD Convention 13th Aug - discussion [COMPETITION PRIZES ANNOUNCED!]

    2. I just wanted to post these up to give you guys a sense of the space we're going to have.

      The discovery center:

      The room's going to easily accommodate the 50 or so people we have places for and it actually feels a lot bigger in person than the pictures really give a sense of. The layout on the day's going to be different of course and the plan is to set up a photography area near the windows to we can take advantage of all that natural light. X3
       
    3. I'm still working on getting the donation eyes together, do you have a preference on eye sizes? Or even styles/colours I should donate? Or just a random mix? :)
       
    4. A random mix would be great, With the amount of people they would be able to trade if the sizes were not what they needed :)
      Colour wise anything should be great. especially if there are some interesting colours too.

    7. Just to let everyone know that we will be updating with lots of new news soon, While I have moved house my PC monitor is in for repair so I'm again, not online. (can't get a break)

    9. We've got a pretty huge announcement about prizes for competitions and the raffle to come later today X3 I am SO excited~
       
    10. We've got lots of fantastic news to announce thanks to AngelDolls.co.uk who have been so incredibly generous and amazing in donating prizes for the raffle and competitions.

      Full details can be found on the event thread but I just wanted to give a quick run down of the awesome news because we're so damn excited right now~

      As you all know we'll be holding a raffle (tickets are available now) on the day, with all the proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross, the main prize for which is a Minoru World Junior Fair Leila with a custom face up by Iccheayo!

      For the art competition the first place prize will be a Little Monica, Honey Harmony Luisie

      We'll also be holding two best dressed competitions one for homemade outfits and one for store bought outfits, the first place prizes for these will be:

    17. As it transpires, my enthusiasm seems to have rubbed off on him somewhat and he actually wants to attend and learn a bit more about bjd's! Funny - I was going to pack him off to sight see for the day :p
      But good news that a guy is getting an interest! He understands the creative scope bjd's have; that they're not just 'dolls'. And probably breast size and occaisional weapons might have a hand in it too, hehe.
      I'll register us both after this post and, yes, I fully intend to enter your competitions - pending my doll arrivals. I'll tell him about the art competition too. And the raffle of course ;)

      I might have to come along to this! I love it when events like this show up and it's actually close to where I live, so tired of seeing everything thats a £100 train ticket journey!

    23. Nope, I have not. Iv'e only recently picked the BJD hobby back up after leaving for a few years due to uni and stuff like that, so it'll be nice.

      Iv'e sent the payment and am just waiting for confirmation of membership now ^_^ need to get to work on competition stuffs!

Just wanna register my interest in this, been lurking the threads long enough but still not 100% sure if I can make that weekend and am a bit preoccupied with house moving right now, but I'll definitely know for sure within the next couple of weeks ._. moneywise I should be okay especially since I'd be dispensing with hotels entirely and getting the train at 6:30 in the morning. Fun times indeed!

      I just wanted to remind everyone that's planning to enter the photography and art competitions that the deadline for both is the end of this month and that you must be registered for the convention to be eligible to enter.

      I was meaning to ask btw, since I know there's a fair few people coming from further away (and more local folk of course), does anyone want to go out in Leeds for a meal on the friday night? I figure it'll be a nice, informal way to meet each other and chill before the event. There are lots of really nice places to eat in town that cover just about every kind of food. :)

      Since someone just reminded me, raffle tickets are available now via paypal (full details on the website) if anyone wants to buy more for the big raffle~

    41. Hoy, The bring and buy forms will be up later today. They are basic forms to fill in so we know what belongs to who. You will also have to stick a label onto the item to correspond with your form. I'll update this thread when the forms are available.

      Sorry to everyone who have sent me messages recently I've been pretty ill for a couple of days so I've been unable to get to my PC I feel a bit better today so hopefully I can catch up on those.
       
    42. Just sent my money, wahey! I realised I forgot to provide an email address, but it's the one I paypal'd from, so yeah. Hoping to enter some of the competitions but still busy busy busy... there'll probably be an influx at the end of July though haha
       
    43. This sounds great! I've just discoevred this event in the board, and I'm going to really try to attend, if I can find a reasonably priced flight there! And If there is something I could contribute with, please just make me know (Perhaps a short talk-demo about hybridation/modding? XD). Congratulations to everyone in Leeds for the initiative! I'm really delighted to see more and more events taking part in Europe!

    45. Hey guys, I'm not sure if I can make it now... it's not a definite drop out at this point, I am currently waiting to find out if the problem can be rectified :)

      If not though, I will have close friends attending... I was wondering if they could bring my goodie bag etc home for me? :)
       
    46. For anyone who is unable to make it, Goodie bags will be given to those unattending on the basis that we have some left over.

      I know it sounds bad but I only have enough goodie bags for those attending, If an unattending persons place is filled then the goodie bag will be alloted to them. So if we manage to fill all the places there will be no space goodie bags avaliable.

      Due to this no guarantee can be given on cancelled places getting goodie bags.

      The only thing I can really guarantee is that you will get a copy of the event book. I hope everyone understands.

      Of course, If the spaces are not filled we will be able to give them out.

      I will alter the website to reflect this, as I realise that this has not been changed and several people have asked me.

      EDIT: After checking the T&C's on the website. Refunds stopped after 1st June. I hope everyone was aware of this.

      One question though, as I am unsure with how it was worded. If someone does fill an unattended place, I am assuming you get another registration fee from them to cover the cost of the goodie bag? I don't mind not being refunded if I can't attend, on the basis that I get something to show for it... but to be fair if my place is filled I hope there is at least no problem that I can be refunded?
       

    48. It said in the T&Cs there are no refunds after 1st June 2011 this information had been on the site since May. Excess registration money goes to the charity with the rest of the extra proceeds.

    49. I am aware of the T&C's thank you, I did read them when I signed up. However when I originally read it, it didn't state in the terms and conditions that I would be left with absolutely nothing if I cancelled. :|

      I must say I am less than happy about losing the money, it is not something I can well afford to do at the moment if I get nothing to show for it. So if this is indeed taken out of my control and I cannot attend, I am basically potentially left with nothing... wow, well thanks I suppose, as if I wasn't gutted enough that I might be missing out in the first place :(
       

    50. I'm sorry about your circumstances but it is why we have T&C's. The registration fee is to cover costs and the deadline for refunds is because we have certain things that need to be paid for after a certain deadline, such as the venue and it would be unfortunate if several attendees dropped out and with such short notice we could not fill the places.. I have tried hard to ensure that everything is fair for everyone and the Terms and Conditions have been there since the registrations opened to ensure everyone was aware before they signed up.

      The Goodie bags are purely up to the discretion of the committee, as with everything with this con it costs money and I only arranged for there to be 50 for the 50 places. If we have unfilled spaces then I am more then happy to get the unclaimed goodie bags to those who were unable to attend. However, My priority is that of those who are there and who are supporting the event with their presence.

      It is nothing personal and I am sorry if it seems that way, but I hoped that I have explained it sufficiently and that we should be able to get a goodie bag to you including the free gift.

      Alternitely I hope that your situation alters and that you can come and enjoy the day and take part in the competitions, raffles and games :)

      Also as both myself and Hubby are attending we don't really need two of everything in the goody bag, i don't mind sharing one between the two of us if it helps so you could let Foxface's friends take the other one for her?
       
    52. Hoy, The attendee list was updated a couple of days ago. :)

      It is up to you what you do with your own goodie bags, the two of you will still receive them. As I've said already to Foxface If I have goodie bags spare I may be able to give them out to those who have been unable to attend, however I can only do this providing there are enough.

      At the risk of sounding rude (which is not my intention)I don't want people to see this and assume they still get a bag if they do not attend. The bags are a gift to those who are supporting us by attending and no one is entitled to one. Other conventions would not even consider doing this especially as they contain gifts we will be able to raffle off at the end of the day and I am sure our sponsors would be unhappy to see me being so frivolous. I am sorry to the few who have had to cancel but I have to be fair to the entire of the attendees and for upcoming events too.

      If people have issues with being unable to attend and wish to consult me about the T&Cs then I am happy to reply through PM's and email ([email protected])

      I don't really want the discussions thread being dominated by such a sad situation.

      <<< newbie's still not on the confirmed list :( The money went from my paypal mid June...

      I'm still currently coming with my +1. My issue is I still have no dolls, so still can't enter any competitions :( And with only 2 weeks left on the deadline it's all going a bit poo shaped :p

      I have a floating head that I got to practice on (but haven't started as the msc is on order with one of the late dolls, lol)... would that count as a photography or art subject, or does it have to be a complete doll? The theme 'hope', 'help' and 'coming together' it all sounds very appropriate right now!

      Any suggestions?

      Your entry doesn't have to.be a complete doll as long as it contains a bid as a subject, even if that means it is only its head :) we welcome all submissions , the more obscure / inventive the better!
