Robot Girl Machina Alpha [completed]

ImpmonsTrueTamer101: haha~ yes it's soundwave. XD I just made his armor out of papercraft. He'll be made totally from junk casts, poor guy. I do plan on making a boy machina but I don't know I'll probably make him from scratch for the most part. I'm waiting until these molds are about ready to give out and then I'll make plaster casts that I'll modify pretty heavily to make the boy machina. So maybe in january sometime you'll see development of them? Most likely I'll be making them optional armor parts. Another of my friends wants to make a Starscream so I don't know if I"ll make one for myself. I'm sort of hoping to get Masterpiece Starscream myself. XD

petiteballerine: Thanks! I was in one show in college. But what I made was a giant rotten chicken carcass out of papermache, shellac, and tracing paper. It was so gross that several people had to leave the gallery.

hobbywhelmed: omg! that would be hilarious! XD;;; As is he's going to have a cod piece. :3

Musashi chan: Alas, I fear the Be-l plate would be too big for the body! The machina are on the skinny side.

Sharonpixie: the boy body that I'll officially release will probably be a bit different. This was just a sort of test I did with a dremel. XD I want the boy to be a little bit bigger than the Machina.

tinybear: Yours is going out a bit behind schedual as I had a set back of randomly not having a car today! o_o;;; long story. I will send your girl and the drow out on monday! D:

L'Okapi: I didn't put any bits on them because I wanted them to be able to be nude all the time if people wanted to. At the same time I tend to give them just a jacket or just a t-shirt to wear. XD

Littledemonkurai: hehehe~ he IS soundwave! XD I'm making his armor out of papercraft stuff I designed using a program called Pepakura. I'll publish the files I used if anyone else wants to make their dolls armor. It should fit a narae or unoa or minifee alright. But there are no instructions, you just sort of have to piece it together. X3;;


okay! I am going to go cast some more! Man, randomly my husband had to use the car ALL DAY so I didn't get to run errands or get mail out. sheesh! like I said above, I made my machina some armor out of papercraft. There's a program called Pepakura that I found that takes 3d models and turns them into papercraft sheets! So I made my boy some transformer looking armor. If anyone's interested in trying it, I'll post them up. You have to print them on cardstock then cut them out and glue all the tabs together. It's a lot of work but it's really cute when done!

 

just a quick update to say I'm casting like a fiend! and working on something for myself in the mean time... XD I'm going to make all the little fins and stuff so this head can be used to make any transformer head you want. It's NOT the male machina head... it's something completely different. And mostly it's just for me. This is what I do in my spare time. Make more work for myself. X3

I'm also posting this to show you how I work. I just sort of lump on paperclay then bake it to speed up the drying process. I then sand and shape it into what I want it to look like. It gives me more control over the finished product. This is actually a really NEAT mod. More neat than what I usually create. my usual stuff is much much messier. The crest to the helmet was really really messy and spikey. I used a sanding block to make it nice and flat.

zidora: I do sort of glob on a nose, but I shape it mostly with sanding. :3 Same with lips. I work completely differently when I do super sculpey tho!

I finished the mecha boys that I was working on for now... I need to still mold their armor and wings. I think I might use the body I made for them for the Machina Boys, but I'm not sure yet. I kind of want to start fresh as well... which means I should get started soon. XD But I've got a cold now, so I'm trying to take it easy until I start feeling better. I get really exhausted whenever I have a cold.

Hedrus: Yup! They're ball-jointed. :3 They've got the same joints as Machina plus a couple extra. They have joints on their backs where I'll be attaching their wings.

unoa_im_afreak: Thanks! Now that i look at the rules, they do fit at least seven of the requirements, but I'm not sure if they fit in #8 which is "Consistent with the style of other dolls presently allowed in terms of facial and body proportioning and overall aesthetic style." No one has told me I can't put them up here, but I don't want to cause problems. :3 I'll pm someone and ask just to be sure.

o01101011: Mostly it's the rule #8 which I posted about above, I'm not sure the boys meet that criteria. I'm going to ask to be sure...

Miss_Pygmalion: Yes all the parts to his head are interchangeable, I found that even apoxy sculpt and super glue don't keep them attached through everything... but they're easily reattached with hot glue. I plan on doing something similar with parts for the beta machina head. :3

The original is on the left and the new cast is on the right. The original didn't have any UV protector in it and is one of the very first machina casts. It's Clunker's parts. She saw a lot of sun and travel, so she's yellowed quite a bit. The new casts will have UV stabilizer from Polytek in it. Stabilizer only lasts two years, and it's only protecting the resin from UV, NOT from heat. Heat can also discolor the resin... so don't leave your dolls in a hot car or a hot house either.















They worked really hard to get the parting lines just so. There should be very negligible lines on her. :3 As soon as I see the finished casts on thursday, Catrina is going to string one up so I can see how it balances, we'll be casting! FINALLY! @D@;; The boxes are already in at Catrina's. She'll ship the dolls to me, I'll paint their faces and lines and string them, then ship them back to Catrina and she'll pack them up and send them to their new homes! I'd expect another two weeks or so after they're cast. I'll try to make the turn around here very quick so that you guys will get them. :3

I also got KEYS last time i was in the fashion district. I'll probably pick some more up tomorrow. So the new machina will have keys with her as well. :3


I'm thinking for her new head I'll either be making it a normal head with her helmet being something that can be wear... but she'll still have robot "ears". Or else she'll have a normal head and a robot head.

and i'll be working on normal feet too. :3
