I've heard mixed feelings on Ringdoll due to their resin having a translucent quality to it, is this still the case for Ringdoll resins? I'm interested in a Ringdoll body but wasn't sure if this would end up being a deal breaker for me. Would love to know other's experiences with recent purchases. Thanks!
I only have one Ringdoll, and not many to compare it to, but the normal skin color is quite lovely imo. In certain lighting it almost looks like it's glowy in a way. I don't know about their other colors though. My other doll is form a different company and a light tan color and i don't feel like the Ringdoll resin is any less durable than hers or anything. I guess it might depend on what you're comparing it to and what you're worried about with it specifically.
I also only have one Ringdoll, which I received Jan 2022 this year. It’s not *that* translucent by any means, I can barely tell the difference in translucency as compared to the other opaque ones I have. if it helps, you may want to head over to my doll profiles, I have a video unboxing of my Ringdoll Lexi. At the last 10 second-ish mark, I have his face rotated near a window, with both interior lighting and the afternoon sun shining on him, so you might be able to tell how translucent Ringdoll resin is. Hope this helps!
I have one Ringdoll in Wheat skin. His resin never seemed translucent to me, but I'll be looking at him again in the sunlight today. Maybe the wheat resin has a different quality to it? Ringdoll resin certainly isn't anything like the Dollshe fresh colors if you're looking to avoid that.
i do have ringdoll head in white, can't say it's translucent, because i own head in french resin in white too and that head is translucent obviously. ringdoll looks pretty solid to me. recently i received dollstown17 in pale and the only difference i can see it's the color (ringdoll is whiter than dollshe pale) and the texture.
I have three Ringdolls (all NS, two from 2021 and one from 2020), and their resin doesn't seem translucent to me. I think the most I can say is, like Quilleth mentioned, the slender fingers of my 1/4 doll have a bit of a glowy quality at the edges if I hold them up to the light. Otherwise, I haven't noticed any translucency to their heads or bodies.
I have a 70cm doll received several months ago, it's pretty opaque as far as I can tell, but not completely solid
Personally, I don't find Ringdoll resin all that translucent. Have normal, white, and tan in the house (pretty sure all are from 2020-2021 or so). Here are some pics of them with different resins. (link just in case) Granado Enoch New Normal (2020)/Ringdoll Normal (Enoch has a more translucent quality) (link just in case) Granado Mads White (2020)/Ringdoll Normal (Mads isn't as translucent looking as Enoch) (link just in case) Fairyland Normal (I believe from 2012)/Doll Family-A Green (2015)/Ringdoll Normal (link just in case) Fairyland Normal (I believe from 2012)/Ringdoll White (link just in case) Fairyland Normal (I believe from 2012)/Ringdoll Tan (link just in case) Hope this helps ^^
Wow thank you all so much I was not expecting this many responses. This is super helpful in making me confident about purchasing, again- thank you! @esuko I watched your unboxing, your doll is so stunning! @PennyForTheGuy thanks this is super useful as wheat skin was going to be my likely choice. @LupusDarkmoon these comparison photos are amazing, thank you! Out of curiosity what ringdoll bodies are featured in those?
