Ringdoll Grown Dolls, thread #8

Does Ringdoll rerelease their co-op dolls (like the characters Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji)? I want to buy them new from Ringdoll if possible since I can't find one in the market.

 

I don't think they do due to licensing reasons. Although I could be wrong.

How is Ringdoll's posing capabilities? Are they good? So-so?

 

Ringdolls are great in my opinion! Can be a little iffy when standing, but the right shoes will fix that really quickly. I have the RGM-02 and it's one of the most flexible bodies I own. The legs and arms will hold just about any pose even without sueding, though tighter dolls will kick (it hurts).

 

I like the 04. Nice & bendy. Yoga pose, scratch his nose... Lots of moveable parts.

 

does ringteen head compatible with RGMbody-4(ringdoll 68cm body)?

Can someone here help me? Somebody told me ringdoll only does environmental/translucent resin...But I can’t find anything on the website that mentions that and the promo pictures don’t help much here
Is their “normal skin” translucent nowadays or is it opaque?

 

It’s translucent. But it’s hard to tell until you see it in person, and honestly it’s not like, really translucent.

I have so many RD hybrids and it’s not notable enough that it’s an issue even with regular resin.

 

The head I want for a hybrid is opaque, you said it’s not too noticeable-is it enough to hide with blushing?

 

Honestly you may not even need to hide it with blushing- I have non-ringdoll heads on ringdoll bodies and I don’t even notice. But blushing will help.

I don't think you can even tell, other than the color diff, the resin isn't obvious or anything.

His blushing has chipped so much omg

 

I've honestly never even noticed a difference in resin translucency. Shows you how much I've been paying attention!

Ahhh @maykoh he's lovely! I have such a huge love for the Frankenstein sculpts. I'm still so bummed that RingDoll never released their third version...

 

Ringdoll had a 3rd version planned? Argh!! I'm still super bummed that I never got another shot at Zombie Sol. I couldn't scrape together the funds when he was released (well, I could, but the Hus convinced me we should be adults - funny how we only have to be adults when it's something I want ) I had a character for him and everything, but I comforted myself with the fact that they did another Frankenstein release, so why not another Zombie?

He looks so pristine with all his full set things! And really light! Mine hasn't been in his full set stuff since... maybe the day he got home? and I've always used his grayness and neutral faceup to really rock some seriously bright fashions.
I've got to say, I love the serene vibe your Voltaire's got, he's a great reminder of how beautiful the 2011 full set release really was/is
and some Viktor spam, because the contrast tickles me - it's like night and day(glo)

Thank you! He's the entire reason I got into BJDs in the first place and it took me six years to track his full set down lol. Your Viktor looks great! I love the glasses

There was an interview with Huang Shan a few years back where he mentioned a third Frankenstein sculpt, as well as a female sculpt with a body like a violin, and in their 2016 Annual they also teased a design called Knum which was based of the Egyptian god of the same name. I foolishly, decided to sell and re-shell a doll waiting for that sculpt...

 

I've seen plans for those Egyptian-themed dolls...I wonder if they're still in the works.

 

I'm honestly half tempted to send them an email and ask. Because I would throw my money, my car, and the kitchen sink at them to get those dolls.Well, Knum specifically at the very least.

 

Email them! They need to know people are interested and waiting!

Sorry for the double post - but would anyone be able to compare the RGM-02 and the RGM-04?
I realised that the RGM-04 would work beautifully for a floating head I have, but I need to make sure it's not going to look bobble headed. I already have an RGM-02, so seeing the two together would be excellent! There's a very good chance I may have to get rid of the head though. It's been giving me so much trouble.

 

Whee~ my secondhand RGM-04 body arrived yesterday! It's great! I asked for it to be shipped unstung to save space, so I'm going to give it a good clean before I put it back together. The weather's been so awful that I'm not even going to bother waiting to paint it. I can do that in the summer.

Did anyone order the Doll Lucky bag? I was super tempted. I know that there were only a few sculpts that you *could* get. But I was still so giddy that I had to calm myself down off the purchase button.

 

@SteamWitch - Ash is looking great in that suit! The hair colour really compliments his skin tone.

So I put the body back together and I am perplexed by the hip joint...it doesn't move at all? And the chest joint barely holds, which is a bit of an issue given that the character slouches a lot. I might have to do some fiddling and modding when I eventually get around to doing other planned mods and blushing/tattoos, etc. I just love the feel of Ringdoll resin. It's so pleasantly smooth.

 

@Quiet and Insane yeah...I like the RGM04 for aesthetic reasons, but it has almost no torso moment. Which is sad, since the 03 poses so well, and so does the teen body!

 

I have the 02, and I just love how flexible it is! So now I'm torn, because aesthetically, it's perfect (well almost - it's taller than I had anticipated), but I loooove flexibility. Argh!

 

Seems there hasn’t been a lot of posting in a while but has anyone seen the new Xie Lan fullset Ringdoll has just released? I literally just finished a layaway and had a doll shipped to me that I thought would be my last doll for a while (space reasons)….but looks like I’ll be back in

I’ve never ordered a doll from Ringdoll that wasn’t in stock. Just wondering of people’s experience? I’ve heard about really long wait times

 

I restrung my 04 a little looser and managed to get some good movement out of the upper torso! thought i broke him hahahha cos the original stringing was so tight.

Nevertheless, I'm still considering whether to buy it.

Well, how many dolls would Ringdoll want to produce for the series?!
I'm really looking forward to Hua Cheng, which will certainly follow soon.

I know what you mean! I have one Ringdoll (Lan Wangji ) and he is beautiful but I got him when he was in stock! So I only had to wait about a week before he arrived at my doorstep, lol. I think Ringdoll will probably make only Hua Cheng and Xie Lan, at least for now. I can’t wait to see how Hua Cheng will look! I honestly already ordered Xie Lan on layaway, long wait time or not I’m certain I want him

I emailed Alice’s Collections and they said Xie Lan is both time and quantity limited (2000). I asked them what the wait time will be like and they said they will ask Ringdoll and get back to me. Once I find out I will post here for anyone that is interested it’s definitely going to be a while I’m sure

 

Not a bad idea! I'll be pulling him apart again in the summer for blushing, so I might do that then as well.

 

So to anyone who is interested Alice’s Collections told me that Ringdoll said the Xie Lan Fullset should be ready in the 4th Quarter of this year I am not sure since I have no previous experience with Ringdoll lol how much I should believe this since that seems so close, but I must admit I’m pretty excited

 

I'm so mad right now...I told myself I wasn't going to get anymore big resins, I traded away my SDelf65 because he was too big even, and then Ringdoll goes and tosses this gorgeous boy at me...would it be possible to put him on a shorter body like a 62-63, or would that look off?

 

I'm SO tempted now to purchase Xie Lian if that's the case on shipping. But I'll also be committing to Hua Cheng if they release him too.

But I still haven't heard anything about the Raven I purchased in April. (I know it's still a little early) but...I guess I'll just owe my soul to Ringdoll now.

 

Yes and I feel like they will not release Hua Cheng until Xie Lan’s orders are over! I am already sunk and committed, though if I really don’t like Hua Cheng I will not get him though I would much much prefer to. I think there is a pretty good chance I will unless they just completely screw him up, lolol.

Well, ofc I will do my best to share photos once my Xie Lan comes in Hopefully he won’t have a crazy wait time, lol, I can do up to 8 months but after that I get a bit antsy, LOL

 

I agree! I feel the same way about Hua Cheng. I was hoping that ☆maybe☆ we'd see some small spoiler picture of him with Xie Lian so it would be easier to decide. I would hate to commit to buying both and not be completely infatuated with both of them.

I'm only on month 3-ish of waiting (since I ordered pretty late) and I'm already antsy. Which isn't like me at all!

 

I recieved a very amazing parcel from a friend of mine a couple of days ago - a Padro head!! My long awaited fourth RD boy. He's so, so beautiful!

She's absolutely wonderful! It was such a surprise and it totally made my day! Well ok, it made my week! I'll try and get photos up on the weekend, if my phone behaves and uploads to Flickr (we shall see... ).

 

I had also hoped that Ringdoll would at least give a doll preview at their current doll fair.
Because I would like to know in advance what Hua Cheng will look like before I decide to buy Xian Lian.
But unfortunately there is nothing like that. Not that I don't like the Hua Cheng release afterwards.

 

It seems wrong to separate the pair so I really, really hope I like Hua Cheng’s sculpt and design! They did suchhhhh a nice job with Xie Lan (I saw additional pictures and videos of him at the fair and I’m pretty obsessed with getting him already, hopefully the wait won’t be too long like they have said) that it would be such a shame if Hua Cheng turns out to be kind of subpar!

Well, at least I’ll for sure have one beautiful boy, haha. Do you think they already have Hua Cheng made and are waiting to release him or they are still working on him?

That's actually what I expected we'd see! I know that Ringdoll typically has a lot of cool pictures of their dolls prior to release (or in the process of working on them) in forms of sketches or ideas. I was really expecting to see Xie Lian and maybe a sketch of Hua Cheng at the very least.

I was wondering the same thing! Certainly they'd have a prototype of him. I would think that they operate the same way we do, and would want to see how they look together (knowing that most people will buy both).

 

Neat! I might have to see if I can get in a really long BJDivas layaway for him, and then trade in the body and outfit later. Don't think I'd be comfortable doing a split with that long of a wait time.

Also I looked back at Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian in an attempt to talk myself out of Xie Lan (because I am more of a MDZS fan)...and that just made me realize I like Xie Lan's sculpt more.

Was that the same case with the two 'Ma Dao Zu Shi' dolls back then? Or were both Ringdoll designs shown immediately? Do you remember?

I had that thought too.
And if Ringdoll now gets a lot of Xian Lian pre-orders (which I assume) it will probably not get any better with the waiting times.

Sadly, as much as it kills me (and it really does), I might have to pass on Xie Lian because of their wait times being so bad right now. It always makes me wonder why doll companies push to do new releases when they're not caught up on things that need to be shipped. It seems like they're just digging themselves into a bigger hole.
That's not me trying to complain, obviously I love their dolls and will buy them. But I don't think I can have three dolls out in limbo until whenever they decide to ship them.

 

Hi all! joining thread as I have just ordered my very first Ringdoll (ever!): Xie Lian
And really, really hoping for a smooth order and delivery

It honestly wouldn't surprise me. lol

I kind of like Kun's face. It would be interesting if they did a 70cm version of him.

 

@dragoneye1300 they did a preview of the prototypes for Wangji and Wuxian during one of the MDZS collaboration cafe events in China. Wuxian was released a couple of months after that, to coincide with the character's October 30 birthday. Same goes for Wangji whose birthday is in February.

Anyway, since Ringdoll Xie Lian was released a few days after his birthday too, I'm kind of expecting they'll do the same for Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng's birthday is in June, so I'm hoping that gives me a year to save up for him.

I already have a Loongsoul Wu Zhen and Zhuzhao cosplaying as Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, but the temptation of actual licensed doll merch is too strong...

To change the subject though, has anyone seen the previews for Sun Ce? Seems he's on a new 75cm body instead of the usual RGM-3.
