Oh, same. I'd be sad. Unfortunately, I can't have two Xie Lians... even though Hua Cheng would probably like that! My wallet would not.

 

Yay, Xie Lian is coming back!
I was already expecting his re-release on his birthday.
My Hua Cheng will definitely be happy.

The only thing that I'm a tad bit disappointed with on HC is the lack of 3D eyelashes. I know they did it because of the eyepatch, but it's too bad! Not a big issue, but I wish he had them.

 

You could always add them! I didn't notice that until you pointed it out lol. It also looks like they didn't use gloss on his lips or lash line either, which is interesting.

 

Yeah I'll probably add eyelashes to mine and maybe gloss, i guess I'll see when he arrives though

 

Wonder if they wanted him to be more masc(?) than Xie Lian? It's too bad, though. I'd probably be a little nervous to add gloss or eyelashes, but I may try eventually.

 

Yeah it's superrrrr common for more "manly" sculpts to not have glossy lips, however I've actually never seen a doll without eyelashes, even short ones.

 

Yeah, I'm guessing the eyelash thing is because of the eyepatch, since it would look weird without it for one eye to have lashes and the other not. But short eyelashes probably wouldn't have been a problem, as long as the patch was lightweight.

 

This is probably the case besides maybe the eyepatch, which is little bit of a shame since I think eyelashes on his sculpt would only emphasize the beauty of it! I agree short lashes probably wouldn't be a problem under the eyepatch if it's light weight.

Definitely more of a stylistic choice for both gloss and lashes, but more uncommon to see dolls without lashes. My first doll actually doesn't have lashes (via original company face up). The fine brush work for his painted lashes and dark eyeshadow put enough emphasis that honestly I never thought he needed lashes even though the rest of my dolls do have them. Personally, I think Hua Cheng is giving the same vibes where I think he already looks so beautiful that lashes, though would be an added bonus, aren't entirely necessary (even if it's for the sake of the eyepatch). Seeing him in photos vs irl could change things, so we'll definitely have more solid opinions once we see him in person! If anyone does add lashes to him I would love to see it

 

That's a good point, he could be complete without it! He already has a beautiful sculpt, and he doesn't necessarily need the 3D lashes to look pretty. The lack of 3D lashes is also a little easier, since idk if I'm the only one who has trouble with this, but wigs always seem to like to catch on the 3D lashes no matter what I do. I mean, I can take them off, but the wigs really like being with the lashes. Guess they're friends.

 

Ive definitely had trouble with that! Trying to fix my doll's wigs doesn't always go as planned because stray hairs are caught in the lashes Because Hua Cheng does have hair hanging in his face... maybe it is a good thing now that you mention it Still, it would be cool to see lashes on him if someone adds them!

 

Yep, I'd love to see someone else do it first so I can decide. We'll see if anyone does!

 

Gosh, backreading all of the Hualian thoughts is giving me real shivers. I want Xie Lian but omg how do I cope if he re-releases on his birthday because I have other boys on order and adding him will just be insane T_T

I also saw an instagram acct and I'm curious if this an actual RD Fafa??

 

Oh I feel the same!! I have multiple other boys on the way or on layaway, including Hua Cheng. Getting Xie Lian will not only cost more money but add to my doll collection that's growing way faster than I'd like. But if this is the only chance to get him....

Also I've seen those photos too and it looks like it's legit! They also have pictures of him with Xie Lian, although theirs has a different faceup.

 

Oooh gosh, they got him so early! I think the owner re-did XL's face up since they are a face up artist based on the account.

So likely fafa won't have eyelashes...I plan on putting on some for him if he doesn't come with it. I plan on playing with him without his eye patch.

And dang, yeah I regret not gunning for Xie Lian last year when he was the only doll I would have been paying for! But he was my first 60+cm doll and I was so hesitant! But knowing how re-releases go with things I can't bear Fafa without Xie Lian

Right now, I'm slightly relieved that his scale figure is delayed so I am able to pay for him later on. I swear I won't spend on anything now hahaha

 

I saw that account too! I think Ringdoll had a few available upfront that immediately sold out, so I think they must have been one of the lucky people to snatch one up. I'm jealous... but someday my Fafa will be here. I wish my Xie Lian scale was delayed too (ordered from JP shop), at this point I may have to cancel him.

Ringdoll’s Instagram says Xie Lian is back on sale, but only for 3 days.

 

Their twitter says the same thing: only July 15-18, and he's back up on their site. If you ordered Hua Cheng you can get a 5% discount if you email them
