EMS really depends on local shipping services, since it gets handed off to them. I don't like EMS because it takes way longer than DHL in my opinion (like 3 days DHL vs 3 weeks EMS) but there's nothing wrong with it, it's just slow at times while also being marketed as a fast option. But for over $100 off I'll deal with the extra shipping time.

 

I think EMS is usually slower, and I'm not sure if you can get shipping insurance on it.

I'm not too worried about that 9 beside where you pick your quantity, clover singing has never had a limited amount before, just limited order periods so I'm not really sure what that 9 is

 

Looks like BJDivas is allowing people to get the 5% discount for having bought Xie Lian before! I'm asking if it's still possible to get a layaway through them with the discounts, because they offer up to a year for layaway.

 

From what I've heard Christina is really good with damaged/lost items and stuff if something did happen to the package with no insurance. Also clover singing is highly praised and if EMS is there only shipping option, it must be good for most people. I've only ordered one doll from her but that was semi-recently so it hasn't arrived yet though

Looks like they do offer the discount, which is great! Though they're US based, so I assume they'd take a lot longer to get stock than China based retailers.

 

Yep, BJDivas offers 3 months, 6 months, 8 months, 10 months and 12 months layaway options, and they just replied that you can get both discounts AND use layaway, so i'm going to go through them and have to be patient xD

 

Wow that's actually so good! I think clover singing's longest layaway is only 4 months, but since I wouldn't be able to get the Xie Lian discount, it's the cheapest for me!

Hey all! Had anyone dealt with customs fees within the US from Ringdoll? I was considering to order Hua Cheng from Ringoll themselves, but since he's a little over $900 with shipping I'm worried about surprise customs fees, which start when a package value is declared at $800 or more. Does Ringdoll under declare the value of the package when shipping?

Edit: I may just buy him elsewhere if it's a better option. I've also considered Clover Singing!

 

From what I've heard, even though customs technically starts at 800, you usually don't get dinged until 2000. I'm pretty sure they undervalue, though you should email them to confirm.

Same with me, except I’m in Canada so there are always custom fees with express shipping. Clover Singing uses EMS however which doesn’t charge costume fees

And wow $1000 is the minimum amount that you’d get dinged for customs?! Here I’m pretty sure it’s only $20…. *cries*

 

Only $20?? Wow... I've heard that customs fees are strict but I didn't know that strict! Also, I think both DHL and EMS start charging customs at $800 when i looked it up. Maybe im wrong..., but it's possible both of them are lax about it unless the value is closer to $1000 or $2000.

I contacted Ringdoll about under declaring a package, so I'll see what they have to say! Maybe that's why Clover Singing has Hua Cheng listed for $799? Because it's *technically* not $800 and could avoid strict customs fees It still feels like the better deal in the long run through, for Canada and the US!

 

Yeah, Clover Singing has the best price. I can get the Xie Lian discount from BJDivas, but even with that, their listing with shipping is like $11 more expensive than Clover Singing. $11 isn't a lot but I want to save what I can with this purchase... And does anyone know what bank transfer is? Because Clover Singing offers $10-$30 extra off if you do that, and I've never done anything like that before. Is it less safe than PayPal?

 

I thought Clover Singing offered free shipping? Or is that not offered for Hua Cheng specifically?

A bank transfer is transferring money from one bank account to another (from yours to the business' bank account) via the business' bank account info and a unique code. I've never done one myself so I'm not entirely sure how it works or if it's less safe than PayPal, though I think PayPal has the edge on bank transfers when it comes to international purchases. I may be wrong on this too, but I think with bank transfers there is no protection in the case of a scam.

 

Clover Singing does offer free shipping! BJDivas doesn't, and theirs is like 30 some dollars to me. So Clover Singing for 799 beats them by about $11, even with the XL discount.

Hmm, that's a tough one then. Maybe I will try bank transfer, because they're a trusted business. If it was an independent person or new business I wouldn't, but they seem to be very trusted in the community. Final decision is up to my parents though since I'm still a minor and they're the ones who have to work this stuff out (though it is my money of course), lmao. They probably won't let me go for bank transfer over Paypal, but worth a shot to ask?

I honestly just use PayPal since that's what I'm comfortable and familiar with no matter what I purchase lol. But I do think it's worth asking your parents about bank transfer since they may know more about it! If in the end you pay through PayPal, it's not a huge loss.

 

Yeah a bank transfer is the main thing for sending money to each other in Canada. We call it e-transfer. I was going to do that because of the discount, but apparently according to other people on here when I tried to look into it, there is some sort of fee for transferring from a different country and it’s really expensive?? But there’s really limited information on it so I can’t really figure it out for sure

 

I’m sure you could email them and ask! Christina is really good with answering any questions! That’s probably what I would do if the doll was a little cheaper, but I’m not since I’m doing layaway

An extra $30 off is definitely nice! But if the fee for the bank transfer is $30 or more then unfortunately it's not worth it which sucks!

Hopefully she gets back soon! I've been considering Clover Singing or Ringdoll themselves, I'm still undecided even though Clover Singing is cheaper overall. I don't mind waiting with EMS vs DHL from Ringdoll, it's the extra step in the shipping process that has me worried about damage to the outer box (since Hua Cheng will hopefully have a special box like Xie Lian!). There's a risk of that no matter what though.

 

OKAY so I commented on ringdoll's instagram post about Hua Cheng asking them to rerelease Xie Lian soon since his birthday is next month... And they REPLIED and said "haha~ I'll tell it to my boss" with a laughing emoji.... EEEEEEE

I still think I'm gonna go ahead with buying Hua Cheng from clover singing now and not waiting for Xie Lian because I feel like if they have a deal together it'll be ringdoll exclusive. Plus like I said before when they did that with the MDZS dolls, buying them together only got you $30 off.

Especially since clover singing has free shipping, I'll just go through them again for Xie Lian.... That being said- I will be a little annoyed if it turns out there is a massive discount hahahaha

 

I originally wanted to order from Ringdoll 100%... until I saw that it was 100 dollars more to order from Ringdoll because of shipping. Yeah, that's a big nope lmao.

I was wondering if they would re release Xie Lian for his birthday this year... My poor poor wallet, I know I can't afford it! I can't imagine that the discount would be more than Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji together. Would be great if there was a better discount for those who don't have them both yet, but also a little upsetting for people that purchased them separately!

 

I feel like the consolation for people who got them separately is how Ringdoll is providing discounts if you bought Xie Lian, but I agree about having a good discount for people who purchase them together!

 

True, they do get an extra 5% off if they bought Xie Lian. Shame, I wasn't into MXTX's works at the time nor buying dolls because I was on hiatus from the hobby. I'm kicking myself a little I don't want to separate them

 

Even if it was the exact same deal, 5% would be nice. I calculated it and the 5% is like around $43 off (around $55 CAD), which is more than the $30 off deal!

Haha now they just have to turn it around.... If you already bought Hua Cheng then you get 5% off of Xie Lian lol!

I'm almost positive that Ringdoll will rerelease Xie Lian, since they've been drumming up anticipation practically since the first batch. It'll be a pretty penny to get both, though... I wonder if Ringdoll will offer a similar discount where if you bought HC, you can get a discount on XL's rerelease.

 

Exactly you can't separate them!! I was around for Xie Lian's sale, but I wasn't financially able or mentally willing to spend that much money on a doll.... Welp look where I am now lolol

 

And on ringdolls website it does say that they will rerelease him someday, so what better time than pretty much a year after the first batch on his birthday. Their birthdays are only a month apart though like gosh give my wallet a chance to heallllll

I know in the long run it's worth it though. Because of the currency exchange I heavily considered not buying Hua Cheng, but then I thought "Am I going to regret this? And then he'll be gone forever and my only hope is the secondhand market where he'll be double the retail price?" Then I thought about how much I regretted not getting Xie Lian. So yeah, it's so much money, but as long as we take care of them, they'll be with us for a long time!!

I second this! And because their faceups aren't terribly unique (no specific markings other than the optional tattoos that aren't on the faces), if worst comes to worst, new eyes and wigs can turn them into different characters! When considering buying them, I was careful to also analyze if I loved their faceups themselves or not- and I do!

 

See this is my exact issue right now!
My problem is that I think it's a little too soon for me personally to spend that much money again even with a discount or layaway, but I'll see! I'm hoping for a long order period if/when Xie Lian is re released because then it would for sure be more possible.

I too was wondering if I should buy Hua Cheng, because this is totally an impulse buy. But just like you I thought "Will I regret not getting him?" That answer was yes, I would regret it. Even if it is a lot of money. I wish I was around for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, so I don't want to miss out on Hua Cheng and Xie Lian before they're gone!

 

Also a lot of places offer 6 month layaways and if it's biweekly, what's like $70 per paycheck. I'm trying to figure out how long of a layaway I want to ask for, but then again if I ask for 6 months but realize I can pay it off in 4, then cool I pay and get the doll faster.
I just need Christina to answer my email ahahahah. I placed an order with her a couple weeks ago (if I knew Hua Cheng would be released I would've saved my money lol) and she did always take pretty long to reply to my emails. She's super nice though!!

 

Which is totally doable for me and probably what I would do anyway. If I don't buy through Ringdoll, then I'll be putting Hua Cheng on 6 month layaway through Clover Singing and try to pay him off faster. And I would do that with Xie Lian when the time comes! It's still so much money though considering I just bought another doll in March (not on layaway) and I'm still waiting on him and havent paid shipping yet! So if I got Xie Lian, it would be my third doll this year, totally unplanned! Phew, the things we do for these dolls

I’m also a little worried about HC selling out on Clover Singing, so does anyone know if I can put in the order now and pay by PayPal in a couple days from now? Especially since it’s a change in timezone between me and her, so communication to get her email will probably take a while.

 

Literally!! I've been planning for MONTHS to order another doll this July.... Then ringdoll was like yeahhhhh we're gonna wreck those plans. But if I go ahead and buy him like I was planning, then this would be my 5th doll this year. 2.... I was planning to buy only 2 dolls this year. Then there's Hua Cheng and Xie Lian, and then the one I just ordered was because his sculpt is getting discontinued this month. That one will probably stay in the box until I'm ready though since he was such an impulse buy.

 

When you place the order, you don't pay! You just place the order, then she emails you with an invoice! So if you're not doing layaway you should be good! I even took a couple days after I got the invoice and that was okay! There's no deadline, just make sure it's not terriblyyyy late. The time difference is also my worry since I'm doing layaway, I have to wait for her response.

I did ask her if there is a limited quantity in my email though. Maybe she'll respond and say no and we'll realize that there's nothing to worry about lol

Yeah... let my mom know that I'll be using her PayPal account for this (I don't have my own because of PayPal's 18+ rule so I have my bank account linked to hers) and I was like "She'll send the invoice and I'll pay it" and my mom was definitely sussed out by the company being a single entity instead of a they. But I think we're good.

 

Most distributers are like that! It's the same with Alice from Alice's collections, they're both so nice though! Also omg if you're using your mom's paypal account does that mean she'll see the price?? lol I am never letting my parents find out how much he is (PRAYING that the price isn't on the damn label when he's delivered to the door LMAO)

Just today I was gushing about Hua Cheng to her and took out a measuring tape to show her how tall he is and she sighed and went "That's a $500 doll isn't it" I said no.... I mean I'm telling the truth!! lol

 

Oh yeah, my parents know... she isn't happy because I'm about to be studying abroad, but I reminded her that I have saved money set aside that I won't touch for HC, and that placated her. I also pointed out that it was no different from her buying designer bags, so... mine is just a designer toddler sized resin doll. I also have earned all of this money for him myself through commissions and selling things, so she can't object there either!

Yep! I've always been into stuff like this (I also collect anime figures, and when I was little, I was into American Girl Dolls), so I think she isn't too surprised lmao. And that's such a mood honestly, I can't wait until I have that excuse when it's a really dumb thing.
