I recognized that look as the Hus and I often have similar discussions while lounging on the weekends, although we are far less picturesque than your boys while doing so

Oh yay, what a happy coincidence because I (geekily) love taking pictures of V with the Naked Ladies! I look forward to it all summer and spend far too long agonizing over what his outfit should be and waiting for the "right" kind of natural lighting

as you can see, I waited a bit too long this year and nearly missed my window. Next year I'll have to be more vigilant about getting shots right when they first start blooming

I'm considering Ringdoll's builds to shell out my OTP. But I haven't decided between the white and normal skin. One of my characters in particular (Nano from Togainu no Chi) is extremely pale, to the point of being mistaken for a corpse when he's sleeping. But from the website comparison, Ringdoll's white color looks more like geisha bodypaint than extremely pale skin, whereas normal looks 'super pale' to me. I'm leaning towards normal skin, but have been told I'll regret not getting white and should look at more owner photos. Any advice?

 

I don't own any in white, but for what's worth here's some closeup colour refs.

So it can have the potential to look super pale, but if you're deliberating you should wait on some WS photos for comparison. Hope that helps!

 

I have WS. It's the whitest white.



I still own him, but he's not had a body in a really long time.

If you just want pale, go with normal. It gets lighter over time. When I first got the Norman dark I use as the Joker I had to blush him to match his WS body, now he just matches.

They are both Sol who is now only available in the second hand market. My first BJD love.

 

I also totally love how Sol looks. But when I had the finances to buy my first doll he was unavailable and went for Lucifer instead. XD

 

I own a ringdoll dracula and i’m in love with him! Wish that rhe head was a little bigger though > < smaller wig sizes are more difficult to source for!

 

I'm so glad I found this Ringdoll thread bc when I ask the people around me they are 50/50! I'm looking to buy a new Ringdoll but I can't for the life of me choose between the Red King and the Judge of Hell! I love the sleepy/irritated eye look from Judge, but the open mouth on Red gets me...
Though I also own Dracula and don't know if the Red and Dracula sculpt will be too similar, I would really appreciate the help!

 

I thought the Ringdoll grown wig sizes were 8-9... is that considered small in the BJD world?

 

Ringdoll heads run on the smaller end of 8-9, closer to 8 than 9, whereas in my experience at least most 8-9 wigs are made more for the 9 end of the spectrum.

 

Hmm... that IS going to make my life more difficult, then. Here I was thinking I could just buy any 8-9 size wigs (assuming I find them in the right styles/colors, which so far I have not) and save them for when my dolls arrive. Do you have any advice for choosing a wig that will fit correctly for a Ringdoll Grown? Are there any particular companies you recommend?

 

Unfortunately, the best-fitting wigs I've found are the ones Ringdoll makes themselves. Which isn't very helpful, I know.

With 8-9 wigs, it's a bit of a crapshoot; some of them will fit and look fine, others will be obviously too big. I've had the best luck with wigs that are explicitly sold as 8" (rather than 8-9), but that's not a very popular size so there aren't many options.

I actually went ahead and got an MSD 7-8 wig for my Ashford. It does fit, but it's shorter than it would be on an MSD (duh), and was a bit of a struggle to get on. I also feel like my Ashford has a slightly smaller head than my other Ringdolls, so there's that. =/

 

Thank you, that is very helpful! I'm relatively new and don't have marketplace access yet. Do secondhand Ringdoll wigs come up very frequently on the marketplace here? There is actually one that would have been perfect - this short grey one: RingDoll - but I'm too late to the game to order as usual. Otherwise... I'm thinking I might have to custom make the wigs myself and/or hire someone else to do it.

 

@Mistress Arachnia Crobidoll makes 8 inch wigs but I can't comment on how well they fit Ringdoll heads since my S has not shipped yet. I have several 8 inch wigs from them, but I can't try them until my doll arrives. I'm hoping S will arrive next month at the latest. I can give you my thoughts on the wig fit if you don't need to know right away!

 

@Mistress Arachnia I bought an assortment of RD as well as taobao wigs in 8-9" or a general 1/3 size and an easy way to get ard the fit issue is to just get a silicone cap under it. In fact I have less of a problem with the RD raven head than with the LS chaos head: that one is REALLY small for such a huge doll.

 

I’m having serious issues figuring out what wig to get my Ashford, too, lol. It’s good to know 7-8 fits! I have a few of those laying around for if the three other wigs I ordered don’t work. His head is such a weird size at 20cm.

 

@Maechen I can help here; one of the few non-RD wigs I have that fits my Ringdolls perfectly is a Crobi 8 inch wig. Crobi has a decent selection in that size so that's a good option to consider @Mistress Arachnia if you're having trouble finding that RD wig secondhand.

@GCDear It's really frustrating since the only wig that fits him perfectly so far is his fullset wig, but I want him to have pink hair.... I do like the look of the 7-8 wig on him, but it took forever to get it on and will only stay on with a rubber band helping to hold it in place. The fullset wig just slides right on...sigh.

 

When you get Marketplace access let me know if you still want it. I have that grey wig it was on my first Sol.

Just to update on the Ashford wig situation, Leekeworld 7-8 wigs are almost a perfect fit imo. They’re a bit snug, but the two I tried on him look great. Hope that helps someone!!

 

Oh, that's great to know! I had bought a way too big 8-9 Leeke world for my Ashford, but I still like the style, so maybe I'll try to get the same one in the 7-8 size and see if it's a better fit. ^0^

I think this asked before for grown body 4 but I'm curious about body #3. Will volks SD17 fit grown body 3? There is a suit from Volks I been eyeing but think it may not fit at all.

I know what you mean. Back when all my work was done with pencil, pen, ink and triangles, I had long nails, but not as long as Odom's. Now that most everything needs a keyboard, or small hand work, I keep mine short. Odom's work isn't hindered by his nails so he keeps them. I ought to show Ghych tending to his master's nails one day.

 

I'd like to see pics of that. love your guys.

Hi all!

Wondering if I can get assistance for some very specific Ashford EVO head measurements. I'm commissioning a wig, but my own Ashford is out getting a faceup and likely won't be back for a month or two.

The person I commissioned had photos that demonstrated how she'd like the measurements taken. If possible, I'm looking for the following in CM:

1 - head circumference (circle,girth) from the hairline to the bottom of the neck; more or less around the head cap.

2 - circumference (circle,girth) from the front of forehead hairline to the middle of the back of head cap.

3 - length from the front forehead hairline to the nape.

4 - length from one ear to another ear over top of the head.

5 - Width of the forehead from the front.

6 - A photo from the side to include a measuring tape going around the head for ear placement.

If something isn't clear, please send me a PM or something. I don't wish to take over the thread over this. Thanks so much for your time!

I have a question for Ringdoll customers! I got an email and I thought it was sketchy because it has an attachment, so I didn't open it. The email is named as "About the change of the English website". The sender's name is cindy. I wondered what this was, but then I saw that Ringdoll has changed their English website. I'm pretty sure it's Ringdoll sending me this email, but I want to be sure, since opening mystery email is not smart. If you're registered on Ringdoll's website, have you gotten this email? Is "cindy" legit?

First time posting in this thread. I finally got around to taking some photos of my Wei Wuxian (my first Ringdoll BJD), and I wanted to share.


Also, just curious, how many of you ordered Lan Wangji? I missed his pre-order and I'm really hoping to find a second hand one from the marketplace after he's released.... but the long wait is killing me. I'm assuming he'll be released in December ish??

Congratulations! I haven't freed my Wuxian from his mummy wrap yet. I need to buy some new white gloves for handling him first, and an uncle sized carrying bag since I don't have one. His neck is quite thick vs. his head right? I noticed that from the promo pictures, and it seems most owners are confirming that's the case.

I ordered Wangji too. And yeah, I expect he'll probably start shipping in December or January, since he and Wuxian were released about three months apart.

And good luck finding Wangji in the marketplace!

 

Hi I was wondering if anyone has a Kirin? Was his headcap empty of any RD marks? A friend has one that I might be getting. It has an official looking CoA though just was wondering about the headcap since it struck me as unusual. If its okay then woo another floating head!

Edit: My friend ended up deciding to just send him to me since we both were so unsure. So hopefully the end of this week we see him in person Not much is seen about Kirin since it seems he was a limited for the 2012 into 2013 holiday new years event? They don't even have any info on their website either of him. I may just email Ringdoll once the head is in my possession about the CoA and to confirm him.
