Ring Doll Teens

Hello everyone! I just received my Mona today and I love her! She is my first Ringdoll and I'm very impressed with their quality and customer service.

I expected that she would arrive in late December, but Ringdoll surprised me. So I have no clothes or a name for her. Yikes!

 

I hadn't checked out this thread in a while, gaiboiozz, your Oscar should be careful riding his bike through a veil of tears! That's a great prop.
Cydril, love how your Amethyst has turned out, she has such a great mouth.
Jane, congrats on your Mona! I love mine too and, so far, I've also been very impressed with Ringdoll. I think they just keep getting better and better.

 

@Cydril My Nolan isn't much for lady chasing yet, but he thinks your girl is the most beautiful in the whole wide world!

I'm really antsy for Amethysts replacement bust to get here (they sent me large and it was supposed to be small) so I can mod it to fit and take some decent photos of her. But heres more spam anyway

 

Amethyst reminds me a bit of Little Rebel dolls, especially the mouth, so cute, and I like the body you got for her.

It's hard for me to think of my Little Red Riding Hood as a teenager but I guess that's how she is classified at Ringdoll. I ordered the body last March for another doll and since a free head was offered I chose LRRH as I always thought she was pretty. Well, the body didn't work for the original head so now Little Red has it all to herself. I'm glad now that I ended up with her as a separate doll unto herself as I really like her.

I've been perusing this thread and looking at everyone's lovely photos. I'm so happy to see other Monas. @gaiboizz, Oscar is so adorable - how clever to make Mona a boy. I love his freckles! @phanuel I'd love to see more pics of Deirdre, and your Amethyst is so lovely. I have a such weakness for red hair.

My Mona still doesn't have a name or clothes. I plan on sewing for her, but can anyone recommend a site where I can buy clothes for her? She's my first SD, and apparently the teen measurements are a bit different from the standard. Any advice there?

Please keep posting pics to keep me amused at work! We are super slow in December. *sigh*

I'm joining this thread because I am buying two teen bodies for my Souldoll Kanguk heads. They are on 6 month layaway, (4 left to go), it's like being pregnant - waiting for delivery, argh. I own wonderful twin tan Sols (Ash and Evz) and love Ringdoll so much but had to get the Kanguk heads because I need Korean boys *shrugs*. I am assuming the teen bodies are just as wonderful as their 70cm bodies.
I also got to meet Huang Shan at A-Kon. It was quite a treat for him meet the twins and nice of him to tell me they were very pretty boys. He got a very close look at their faces.

Here is my Nettle. She doesn't have any clothes yet, so I tied an old cloak on her. I have tomorrow off so I am going to do some sewing!

I've been on flickr for quite awhile now so I've amassed a lot of photos, mostly dolls and figures, but family ones sneak in there too.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but: does anyone have RingDoll Lora (or any other doll with the same body)? I'm debating whether I want her or not, and would really like some insight on if she's worth my money or not.

Owners: how do you like the body? Does she pose well, stand well etc.? How about the overall quality? Anything else worth mentioning? I would be more than glad to look at pictures too, if anyone has them!

 

@gaiboiozz my pair of boy bodies won't be here until April . I love their adult bodies so I'm expecting the same from the smaller ones too.

 

@SteamWitch I time goes fast for you. I hate the waiting game for dolls. I hope to get mine too

 

Yay! MOC says Ringdoll is almost ready to ship the order my twins bodies are in. I won't be able to bring them home until end of February or first of March but I don't have to wait until April or later! WOOT!

Sorry I cant answer any questions about bodies, since my girl is a hybrid...
But Amethyst finally got her replacement chest and neck mod, so she is finally complete!

 

MOC emailed that my Ringdoll teen bodies have arrived. I am going to pay them off now and get them home. I am so happy right now.

Amethyst makes a really cute girl, congrats!

 

I met a Diyue at a meet, he is quite handsome. It was also my first look at a teen body. I know I'm going to love my twins. Tracking numbers received and stalking has begun.

Edit: I got the bodies and they are wonderful, just as expected.

 

Please I need help. Searching for some info on RTbody-03.
I can't help but not trust companies with given measurements (...from my experiences they are damn inaccurate sometimes).
So I would need to know:
Real measurement across the shoulders and real heigh (without head and with - plus let me know which head you have on). Maybe even the height from floor to shoulder.
If possible it would be also great to see some pictures of this body sitting. Because of the just one torso joint I have my doubts. Could it look natural while sitting (/standing)? (Because the promo photos while sitting surely don't). How is it posing and all.

And if anybody was somehow possible to make photo of IOS Sezz head on this body I would be ultimately grateful :3

Oh golly I haven't been in this thread in awhile. I've got two of those bodies. I'd be happy to get measurments and take photos of my DiYue for ya in any poses you'd like. I've also got friends with IOS Asyd, and Osiris heads I can try on the bodies, hopefully Sezz is around the same size. Would that help? ='D

Popping in with a question as I'm planning to order Spencer in a day or two-

Does anyone have any pics of the older Ring teen boy body with a body or bodies from other companies? The head I'm getting after Spencer is from Doll Family H and I'm hoping that they can share Spencer's body, at least temporarily, but I have no idea how to figure out if it would actually work. I haven't been able to find any comparisons involving the Ringdoll body that haven't had broken images, all I can find when I Google are the various 70cm ones. Since the body is discontinuing soon I worry pics will become even more scarce, though of course that won't be as much of an issue once I have Spencer in hand.

Would someone with a Ringdoll teen boy on the older body(not the Sunshine one) as well as, well, pretty much any other similar size male bjd, be willing to post a comparison? It's not urgent, but I would like to get a sense of how he compares with other dolls in that size range in case I catch the 1/3 scale bug completely, as well as helping me with the wait by having something to visualize.

 

I have 6 boys on the old body and would be happy to take pics for you! I don't have a Doll Family doll, but I will gather up all my 60-65cm boys for photos tomorrow.

 

I have a DF-H head and the older RD body, I'll try to get a photo for you later today.

 

Are they discontinuing some Teen sculpts too? I've always loved Spencer....I wonder if I should order a head before he's gone D:

 

The more Spencer's in the world, the happier I'll be. I'm glad I have one though, and don't have to scramble..but a friend of mine still needs a body for her Spencer so I may try to pick up one of the old bodies for her yet. Thankfully there's still some time. x.x

And if SteamWitch can get photos of the actual hybrid, then I wont lug out all my boys. Well. I might anyway for some regular photos...:P

Okay, okay, I was worried there. Well, she's still on my wishlist. I don't see it happening very soon, but I do like her. It's odd, because I only care for a handful of girl sculpts and she's the only sd one. I have Amethyst, he's really cute, but he stays in the box almost all the time. I like his default faceup so much that I don't mess with him. The others have faceups I made for them. If it's something I can do again, I don't worry about it so much.

Even though I've already got the pics I need, I would love to see more of your Ringdoll lovelies! So if you're still planning on taking those photos, I would still love to see! Ringdoll Teens need more appreciation, everyone's into the Growns now. ): Not that those aren't awesome too, but I hope we can help bring more life to this thread, especially since once I get my Spencer I plan on sharing her(yup she's a girl but I prefer the boy body, though I may just have her be a boy, I'll decide when I see her in person) a lot!

(AAaaaaaaa I still fangirl over your Spencer ahaha but I'll try to keep it reasonable. Though the main reason I'm getting mine is yours is so lovely and aaaaaaaA but mine'll have her own character don't worry, I'm not gonna copy you or anything ^^; )

THANK YOU that is just what I need! I'm planning on doing some pretty heavy mods to the DF-H head so resin match wasn't even something I considered but I love some of their other heads as well so I'll definitely keep the coloring in mind! I'm assuming the body is NS? I'm curious how the WS would match up, since I'm getting Spencer in WS and the DF head can be any color since I'm gonna dye it, so it's not like they need to look good sharing a body but I would still like it if they did, so it looks like the size works and that's great! Thanks!

Hurray!! Congrats! When I ordered my Spencer years back, he took so long to arrive that he basically achieved grail doll status during the wait. xD (of course I ordered him back when Ringdoll was having all those shipping issues...I think I waited 7 months for him?) I had also originally wanted to order him as a girl...but then they had a sale where I could get his military outfit for $1 and so he ended up a guy. The rest is history.

And also...ok I will lug out the boys later. It's been awhile since they got photos...and in fact I haven't photographed them properly since I got my new camera. Ooh a good excuse. x3

 

I'm looking forward to seeing more teen spam!!!! Lately, I've been having feelings of doubt about my Amethyst..... maybe a good photo session would help! This weekend, we're doing some family painting in the house, but I will be inspired by the rest of you for the weekend after maybe.

Hi all! I have a Julia (Josephine), but I have trouble choosing her to do things with, since she's so proportionally different from my other 1/3 dolls. It's a shame; she's really lovely and I can't think what might solve that issue for me (short of like... getting more Ringdolls to match, which has a certain appeal). Did anyone else here have trouble bonding with their Ringdolls? I tend to keep poor Josephine off apart from the rest of my doll family to avoid the contrast ;-;

 

No. But my ringdoll teen Misha, was actually the very first BJD I ordered (though literally fourth I got in my hands because it took 8 months to get him) so I researched and planned what his companions would be, so it's worked out well.

But I understand your predicament with another little doll I have who is a tiny 19cm, she just doesn't fit with anyone. I'm afraid I will need to sell her because I have boxed her away, and that's not fair.

 

I don't have a problem with my Mona...I love her. More than her non-crying head, so much that I'm thinking of getting another RDT head to replace it with (it's a non-Ringdoll head). It would be her fifth shell! XDD omgwhy

 

Smart of you I hadn't quite realized how different proportions could be even with dolls that are technically the same scale. The proportions are one of my favorite things about Josephine, and yet also my main tripping point. She's so pretty, and beautifully delicate, and... too delicate ><

 

You know, what you could do is divide your collection up. I have my SD dolls and I have my MSD dolls and both are different proportions and so they different stories and sit with each other. You could find other dolls close to your doll's proportions and set up their own world. That's an option If she works for you aesthetically than that could work.

 

Does anyone understand Aya? I guess on her body she's a Grown, but her head is just Teen? So if I had her on a different body would I post her here or the Grown thread??

 

@Cennie Yes, I feel like I haven't bonded with my Ringdoll boy as much as the others because of how big and round his head is in comparison. I still like him a lot, and want to keep him for now. It might be also that he has a default faceup that's stylized. I don't do stylized faceups well yet. I prefer to do faceups with more naturalism. The Amythest sculpt would not look right to me with a natural faceup style.

 

That makes a lot of sense. Amethyst is so adorable! but you're right, he'd probably look odd too realistic, and I can see how that would be frustrating from an artistic perspective, if you've had trouble customizing him.
