I have a question for you guys. Is Ringdoll still making their dolls in the french/environmental resin? I am a bit confused by what they are offering now. Thanks in advance!

 

I think they are still using an environmental resin, but it's opaque now, as opposed to their old resin that was slightly translucent. Owners with newer dolls will have to confirm that though, as my newest is the LE tan Carlos. :P

 

Looks like ill have to get the pair of boots too, just to be safe ^^" ... Thanks!!

 

You could also email Ringdoll and ask. They've always been very helpful when I had questions for them.

I was curious because I have been debating buying a head second hand vs. saving a bit more and buying new. I still haven't made a decision, let alone made serious plans. That helps me know what I am considering though.

 

Please forgive me, I am double posting here. Does anyone have Amythyst? I have looked and can't find much about this one. I still really like Mona though.

@P-Aei - Crystal belongs to a friend but the Amethyst is mine, his name is Nolan. When I see Nikki (the Crystal) again, I will make sure to snap a couple more photos of him.

Quick question, does anyone know what head is shown on the company photos of the RTbody-2? I thought it might be Spencer but it seems different.

I'm not sure, but it might be Don. He's got less of a smile than Spencer. I'm sure if you sent an email to Ringdoll, they'd let you know.

 

I think they use two models, at least. The first one I'm not 100% on, but it's not Spencer for sure. I don't -think- it's Don. Don's have an open mouth. I'm leaning towards Markus actually. The last model is definitely Pan though.

Actually, I looked again and I think he does have teeth, so I'm pretty sure it's Don. I'll email Ringdoll and ask, though.

 

I like your Don! I love the toothy sculpts.

I thought one of the models is Spencer. I looked really hard at them, and I'm now about 90% sure it's Don. I think the other closed mouth model might be Chai except the eyes are off. So, I am now curious too!

 

Maybe there are three models and we are all correct! lol I love the toothy sculpts too. Actually, I'm still pretty hung up on their older sculpts in general. Kinda sad I never managed to get an Ashford. Maybe someday...Well he's not discontinued yet so there's still hope. :P

 

Love all the new pictures, especially all the Misha's and Amethyst's, the letter was on my wishlist for some time, he's so cute!

Cattya It's Markus, Don in two pictures, and Pan in the older ones =) My friend has a Markus so I recognized him instantly =)

gaiboiozz Awww, thank you Jade is a very old one now, I bought him in 2009, he was one of the first RD dolls, we have a 9th number =D and just a while ago Ringdoll discontinued him, I'm a bit sad about it since I was considering getting a "fresh" Ran for this character.

mollym Thank you! He got it from one person on DoA actually, it's a dollheart outfit, they do amazing job with the small details after all >_< it's a bit too wide for RD teens, but it still looks quite well.

 

I have a Mona head, and asked Ringdoll to do a slightly custom faceup (more red blushing and added black inside the mouth instead of just pink). They did a lovely job, so happy they accommodated my request. I gave her an extra tear using some gloss.

Hello!

Can anyone tell me what size eyes a Ringdoll Crystal takes? Their website has nada. It looks like 16mm but I could be in error.

I am getting one at DollAKon in a few days and I want to take clothes, eyes and wig with me to put him into character quickly. He is going to be Shuichi 2.0 and be paired with my Ringdoll Kay, Eiri 2.0.

I'm joining this thread since I just got back from Doll-A-kon where I was lucky enough to meet Rindoll's Huang Shan! He and Yiheng Zhoa were just wonderful! Even better, they let me buy the Mona head they had on their display doll! I'm really happy to have her, I've wanted a Mona head since she came out. She's my first Ringdoll - I've already got her on the body I had waiting for her, wigged and dressed in her pajamas. Hopefully I can some pictures tomorrow...

I seriously just want to hug her and pour some wine or something (how else do you console someone who has had their heart broken??)

Ha ha chocolate and kittens would definitely work for me! I'm kind of ticked at myself because all weekend at Doll-A-Kon my table was next to the wonderful One Thyrd....who makes miniature food and things. I could have gotten her some perfect comfort sweets!!! But I didn't buy her until the last day at the end of the day so I was too excited to think about it until I was already home :\

She's currently got a goth-ish plush bunny and is wearing her a-hole boyfriends shirt (I figure he's the one making her cry), so she looks pretty good, but sweets would have just made it perfect.

Oh my goodness, Monas are so versatile! I'm glad to see more interest in Ringdoll teens lately, if I remember right when the growns came out this thread slowed down a lot. I may be misremembering though.


I had a dream about my Grail, Ringdoll Spencer. Someone else had him on some other forum, and I somehow imagined them on my couch but they weren't really, so I was so close but so far from getting to hold the doll of my dreams! D: Hopefully I should have enough within... the next year or two. I really need to get a job...

 

It's so amazing to see what everyone is doing with their Monas! When Ringdoll released her I was a bit skeptical on how well she would be received, and have been pleasantly surprised!

Mmm Spencer. Such a great mold. I wish more people had one. I've had mine for years and I still can't get enough! I'm thrilled to say that one of my friends recently got a Spencer head, to make into a girl later on. It's going to be awesome.

Can I ask a question? I was under the impression that RD used french or translucent resin, but my amethyst is definitely not. Shes also the whitest doll I've ever had, and that includes Dollzone.
I guess I was just wondering if I was mistaken about them using french resin, or if they've just recently changed it up?

 

They used to use the translucent resin. They changed to opaque resin in 2012? I think it was. That was about the time they were a year behind on shipping b/c they were changing things and getting bigger. My Pan was one of the last translucent resins, and he was from the show stock of Mintoncard. The translucent was lovely and glowy but pretty yellow looking and resin matching is a terrible pain (I got him jointed hands and they do not match, so he wears fingerless cloves to cover the joint).

 

Amethyst is such a cute sculpt, looking forward to seeing what you do with her, Cydril! And it's always great to see a Mona, there's just not enough of them.
Akai, your Ringdolls were the first I'd ever seen, back in Dairyland. Wish that forum was still active these days.

Mona is such a cool mold, but honestly I wouldn't know what to do with one myself. I'm quite happy(?) to see them though! (they all need hugs!..and a tissue or three. lol)

And DairylandBJD is on hiatus until the mods can come and fix it. It'll come back eventually. But yeah..then and now my enthusiasm for Ringdolls hasn't slackened! I am down to 7 of them only (6 of them teen boys)..but I have my eye on Lucifer or maybe Moyu. Though Spencer still reigns supreme as my favorite.

 

Ringdoll do still use environmental resin, I sent them an email asking about this a couple of months ago. It's simply a less translucent type then before. Cyril, if you look hard enough you may be able to detect a slight difference in texture or a slight 'luster' in the under certain lights, compared to companies with really dense opaque resin (like switch), but it is subtle

 

I think I remember that initially they changed it because people were complaining and didn't like it...I sort of miss it (the more translucent quality). I wish it was an option still, though I don't know that enough people would order it to make it worth Ringdoll's time and effort. I'm super glad I have boys in the old resin, and the kind of old resin. I don't have anyone in their new resin though..and now I want that. Maybe I should look into getting one of their big girls..

Trying To Rush Home As Tears Run Down Your Face.

 

My Amethyst head is almost done at the spa, and I got the shipping notice for her body today! I should have her all put together by the end of next week

Anyone have any new spam to tide me over in the final countdown? lol

 

This is probably too much to hope for, but does anyone have Spencer and Mona? I'm wondering if they can pull off being the same person or if they're just too different....

 

I don't know if I posted this video here yet. I did a review of my 2010 Wagashi on youtube. The review is from 2013.



Also, I'm currently in the process of getting a new knee for my girl. The original knee cap piece cracked and the repairs were not able to take the strain of a properly strung doll. So far Ringdoll has been very responsive, but I did need to provide them wit my birthcard number to get the process started.
