Ring Doll Teens

I wasn't sure whether I should post this on the waiting room since it's not updating the list(yet), so I'm putting it here:

I messaged Alice's Collections for an update on my Spencer, and they asked Ringdoll and apparently my doll should be ready in a week!

I keep my two Ringdolls sitting next to each other - a Grown Kay and Teen Crystal. They look a little odd together because Eiri (the Kay) has a much smaller head than Shu2 (the Crystal) but I got used to it pretty quickly. Here is Shu2, who was a model for one of my Advanced Digital Imaging projects this summer. The fan is in my office.

Hello! Sorry to suddenly jump into a thread 20 something pages in but does anyone happen to know what size/thickness elastic Ringdoll uses for the teens? I have a Shao who needs restringing but I'm finding the original elastic is slightly too thick and is getting caught inside the pieces creating weird tension variations, so I'd like to go one size down.

 

My DiYue is a victim of a body snatching vampire but he is trying to find his way in the world. We are working on his character, but he tells me this is what he looks like.

@sunnylightmode I think they use 4mm in the legs so 3.5mm might work.

 

What great news! Ringdoll has really stepped up to the plate to get out their dolls, even though the company is so tiny - less than 20 people!

You will definitely enjoy him! My Crystal poses really well, though it may be because he was a demo doll and they kept him in great shape. All I know is he was a great model for my advanced digital imaging class and did not 'fuss' when I posed him.

 

This is my DiYue he is Pyry (Finnish for Blizzard), a fox spirit, hybrid to this body with a tail. I love him like this.

He looks lovely! What body is he on? Those hands look familiar to me but I'm not sure.

 

Thank you, they make perfect growler hands. I don't know what kind of hands they are, they came with the secondhand (or third or fourth hand, it is old) male Fantasy doll body but they are not Fantasy doll hands.
His tail is a permanently attached armature.

They're old CP Delf hands. I have a million pairs, they're so good for hybridizing (and fit really well on the fantasy doll body - lots of people used it for the Delf heads). I couldn't tell you exactly what pair they are, but I'm sure someone out there, way more hand-savvy than me, could.

@SteamWitch I love that armature! What is it made of? or is it some kind of armature that already exists?

I have my Aya mostly up and running! (she's also got CP Delf hands! Not that you can see them....)



She is the 6th version of this character and my most fail when it comes to shelling my OCs....

 

@VampireAngel13 Yes it's just the regular doll armature that you can buy off the rack at Hobby Lobby. I popped off one leg section and added a few more to it with a little help of vice grips and a teeny tiny spray of lithium grease for keyholes. It tapped into place fairly easily after my frustration at trying to use heat (that method didn't work for me). I drilled a hole for a magnet but I wound up apoxing the tail onto him. I had practice with Reed's tail though it was a bigger armature but I like the permanence of the tail, but that's just me.
Your Aya came out so well.

I just bought a Ringdoll mechanical arm for the teen body, don't know who is going to get it though. I've seen them on other doll bodies so I will probably be testing out the fit on my other 60cm dolls.

Edit: Pryr had another birthday so with becoming 200 years old he got another tail. He is a two tailed fox spirit/demon now.

@VampireAngel13 , that faceup is really cool. What resin color is she?

@bakayaro onna and @mollym , I know what you mean, my Amethyst head is among the biggest of all my dolls. She even looks big next to 70cm dudes.

 

I got my Wagashi repainted by Angel Toast because the 6 year old face-up was starting to get very shiny.

Just received my Lora last night. I've wanted her over a year and am so excited I was lucky enough to get her at this late date.

 

New picture of Lora today. I still need to work on learning how to pose this girl, but I love her.

 

I am SO glad you got her and she is a member of our group! I wanted one and could not do it, so having her around to look at occasionally is the next best thing! She is gorgeous!

Thank you @bluepita he is Diyue. His has a darling face. I was going to wipe the company faceup at first but he looks great as my little fox spirit. Maybe someday he will get a new look but he makes me happy the way he is now.

I'm interested in buying Ringdoll's RTG09.SP head aka Alice99's blinking head. I'm thinking about making the hybrid with the sunshine body. Does anyone know if the head will work on that body? I want the sculpt as a boy, so making a hybrid will probably be easier than FTM mod.

 

Lora got new eyes today, something a bit more realistic. I'm not settled on the color, but these look good for now.



@Melancholic_dolly - You'd definitely have to mod either the neck or the head for it to fit, since the neck is a cm bigger. Hopefully someone will come along who has tried one of their girls head on the body. Good luck!

 

Thank you for telling me! Modding the neck is probably less work than chest mod. If no one knows I can try checking with Ringdoll directly.

 

Hello thread! It feels like it has been so long sense I was on here. On Friday I paid off the RTBody-3 for Oscar. He will finally be complete. It should be here on Monday Or at least thats what tracking says. So expect lots of pictures to come

He looks wonderful! That's such a unique sculpt, especially as a boy. How do you like the body?

 

He is bigger than my DZ 60cm boy, I am not used to handling bigger dolls but I love him. I am really happy that he is complete

 

That's how I am with my Lora. The rest of my dolls were MSD or smaller, so it's been an adjustment. I really adore her, though. Ringdoll makes really lovely dolls.

 

Tell me about it, I haven't been able to put him down all day

 

I have three of the teen bodies for my hybrids and LoveLove them. So yeah, I totally understand the teen body love.

 

The only thing that worries me is the elbow joint. When i bend his elbow I can hear the resin scraping against each other. It worries me so I try to be extra careful when bending the arm joint

 

All of mine do that snapping sound but nothing has happened to them. I like that the bent arm rotates, toward the torso and away a true ball joint motion that not all BJDs can do. Their joints are great so don't worry.

 

Here is one of my Ringdoll teenagers~ He has the RTbody-2, so he doesn't really snap when moved, but he likes to make creaking noises, lol.

I have done that myself, just can't let go even to sleep.
They pose so well and are so cute.

 

How cute! I need to work on posing, for all my dolls really. I'm so scared I'm going to mess them up that I have a hard time doing an thing other than sitting. I need to take advantage of those nifty rubber inserts Ringdoll puts in. I just love your props, too, SteamWitch.

The Ringdolls are pretty tough so play with them. It's the only way to learn what they can do.

@gaiboiozz No, it was a separate purchase. I wish I had it, though! I actually got my Lora new over a year after her release event through a dealer. I think someone must have defaulted on a layaway. So, I got what they chose. I'm keeping an eye out for a good axe for her.

I'm really pleased with her wig. As a matter of fact, I was impressed at how well everything about her is made. I liked Ringdoll before, but now I love them. Her face up is insane in person. It has lots of texturing that doesn't show as details in photos but gives her face tons of dimension.

 

I gave my new Pan a faceup and a crazy new wig. I haven't glossed his lips but I think I might use satin on them instead.

I don't have any dolls to post on this thread yet, but I'm in the world's shortest layaway for an Eva! Does anyone else have her and would like to show off some pictures?

 

My DiYue has a changed look. Not sure what character spilled out of me when I did his/her/their faceup. Right now Their name is Yue (Moon).

Thank you. It surprised me how different Yue looked, but I really like it.

 

This is the only other Lora I've seen in person. She was sold in silent auction (for a children's hospital) at this year's Doll A-Kon. Ringdoll donated her last year. I snuck a quick pic of the two together. MIne is in front.

@VampireAngel13 I got a terrible picture of her sneaking in by John. I had to keep it, though. I hardly made it to any doll stuff and got practically no pictures. It was fun to see his modded face in person and the rest of your dolls, too!

 

@bluepita Lol he has a silly face. I'm glad you got a picture...I wish I'd been able to get one of them together! (I only seemed to take his picture with other Ringdolls all weekend lol) but my phone couldn't leave the market room as it was the credit card machine

She's so lovely! I haven't seen any more of that sculpt either. I've had a hard time finding owner pictures of a lot of the Ringdoll Teenage sculpts. My going theory is that people get drawn into Ringdoll by their grown sculpts, and the smaller dolls look so different that they get neglected. :/ No clue how true it is, but it makes sense to me. I'm glad to see your Wagashi.
