I just sent Sun an email asking about the custom I want, the boy with six eyes:



I don't know if this is even a possible thing to want or if the resin's too fragile for it, but I'm keeping my hopes up!

 

Does Resinsoul do that kind of thing? They're too amazing!

I heard they made a six armed doll for someone once and that they are pretty accommodating if they can do it so fingers crossed they can for them

Which makes sense, the resin would have to be really thin to accommodate them all. I asked if making smaller eyewells would work, but I might just have to use paint or cabochons or something.

 

Aw that’s a shame I can understand the delicate resin situation there though and space. Painting them on would look really nice also and I know resinsoul will even do you face paint custom

I have a long layaway of stuff with my Heng body, but I'm only about a month and a week away from paying that order off (first week of April is payment 5 and then first week May payment 6.)

At least my direct order from RS is paid for. Hope those arrive in the 2 months quoted, but i'm counting on 4, LOL.

 

It has been wayyyy to long since I have posted or ordered a doll. But after moving and all sorts of life changing events in the past two years (both good and bad) my Husband convinced me to just relax and order one I have had my eye on for a while now.

Soooo....

I just paid in full for a special order Xun. She's going to be my ghost girl. I went with her basic body but added in jointed hands and no cat ears. Her faceup and body blushing will be all whites and blues. Her skin will be white: head, torso, upper arms, upper legs. But joints down will be transparent (even the jointed hands). I went head and got her blue and white clothing, eyes, and wig.

I may customize her face and such later on but with just have moved I don't have supplies or anything readily available. I need to restock, lol!

I was quoted about a 2 month wait time so fingers crossed she's here in June. Just enough time to get all my dolls unpacked and set up and ready for her arrival.

 

@NekoMel , that sounds really cool! I wonder how they're doing on their time table? I'm about 1.5 weeks away from two months myself and am really hoping they will ship soon

Right there with you. It has only been 2 weeks and I am going insane. Doesn't help my family just got quarantined for 14 days so I have not much to do but stare at everyone's beautiful dolls and try to distract myself

Oh wow, I wrote to RS to see if I could get a sample of their resin color with my order and they wrote back that my order already shipped on the 20th! They gave me tracking and it should arrive on Thursday!

 

@IngieBee Congratulations!!!! I'm glad that the wait time wasn't too awful and that your bodies are already on their way.

Your order came through on time, right? It gives me hope for my Heng arriving in a month. I've had a month go by and the waiting is absolutely killing me!

 

I double checked what DDE said the RS wait times was - 16-24 weeks. And then I counted. Plus all the new year celebrations, I'm only at about week 21. Welp.
I just want a new doll to show up?

 

Yup, but unfortunately my package is "on hold" in Boston, MA. I figure it's because it's waiting to catch a flight, and flights are rather few and far between now a days. So, it'll probably take longer than they said (they said it would be delivered on Thursday) I don't have high hopes for it's arrival on time. But yes, RS shipped out a few days early even.

@ihnasarima unfortunately it does take longer with DDE as they wait until they have a batch order, then the entire order needs to be completed before it's shipped out. But doing so saves a lot on shipping. DDE didn't want to take my order because I asked for custom color, and they don't want to get in the middle of an unhappy customer because the color wasn't exactly what they wanted. I totally get that

 

Guess I'm officially here now! I ordered a BBB Apollo head through DDE, which I know comes with a longer wait but I'm not in any rush. I'm moving in a few months and they already told me it would be no problem to change the shipping address on my order if he hasn't come in by the time I get hustling out of here. I think I'm going to hybrid him onto a Loongsoul body eventually, and hopefully I'll be doing his faceup myself! He's going to be a bit of an adventure!

I ordered him April 22nd.

 

I wish I'd noticed that before ordering. Oh well. I'm just impatient for the serotonin burst of a new doll, not actually ready for a new character build, heh.

 

Well, @ihnasarima better than what just happened to me! I could have sworn the package was addressed to me, but this morning, it said it was delivered to someone in Boston! I'm in California! It suddenly changed info and I don't know what's up

I know it takes longer but I like that DDE takes care of all these kinds of things behind the scenes. Now I've got to figure out what happened, ugh! LOL

somehow waiting for a doll with a shorter expected delivery time is way worse then waiting for my dolls with 5+ months wait

I got my confirmation of payment today for a Sui head on a Wu body in blue, with hands 02 because I wanted more articulation. My first ever BJD! I also might have gone a little overboard in buying clothes for him lol!
They estimated 2 months for producing it so I'm very excited. That's going to be the busy time at my work, but that also means it'll be a nice project to come home to and relax with. (I want to do his blushing myself!)

Now I'm trying to figure out all the things I'll need, the order I need to get them etc.
I'll probably start filling workshop zones with questions but I'm so excited right now.

 

Wig, eyes and shoes with the clothes ? @CrowTheChangeling Unfortunately the package that was supposed to be sent to me went somewhere else. IF it was mine, they finished a few days short of 2 months. I haven't heard back from Sun yet and have no idea what happened. I'm pretty bummed

 

Oh no! D: I mean, maybe she's looking into it right now! Plus you have to account for time zone differences. It still sucks.

And I bought clothes and a wig, though I am probably going to tweak both (I want to add feathers if I can, and try to do something like an oil slick look with the wig, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that.)
I plan to make my own eyes though! I know I'm not going to find any that are perfect, and eyes are the most important part.

The character I'm basing him off is my thumb to give you an idea, lol!
So heterochromia, central heterochromia, black sclera, and some fantasy coloration all combined lol.

 

Well, no worries now, @CrowTheChangeling , I just heard back from ResinSoul, they simply sent me the wrong tracking number. They gave me the right one now, and it looks like it should arrive soon, their in customs Los Angeles which normally doesn't take long. The tracking estimates May 3 for delivery, but I think it's possible they'll arrive as soon as tomorrow, which is exciting

 

I cannot imagine the heart attack I would have had seeing the wrong delivery. I am so glad it was just a mistaken number! I hope it shows up sooner than later
Slightly off topic but related I am currently missing a $100 package of clothing in USPS system...somewhere... that's for my daughter and I. Shipping can be suuuuch a pain.

As someone in Chicago, I wonder the same thing. It just sits 8 miles from me for 2 weeks. Can't you just, y'know, send it on???

 

That's terrible for both of you! I haven't had that happen to me in Chicago yet, but its possible. I have had that in Michigan though. I had a doll that was at my local post office and they just never sent it. So I went on my work break to pick it up and forgot it was in my husbands name. I had to go back to work pick him up and try again. They had it set for delivery a week later. No idea why. They had no answers
As far as I know my missing package went through customs and made it to Illinois and went MIA.

My fear is when my doll ships she will have the same fate. We just moved to this house a few months ago and so far shipping has been okay, but this makes me worry.

 

To be fair, the black hole that is the ginormous Chicago Post Office has only held up a few of my packages. Most get shuffled along decently timed. But I suspect the local post takes a different route than the stuff just stopping by en route.

I was expecting my BBB Erin to arrive first, but my Fairyland order was on yesterday's shipping notification instead!

 

Hello Everyone!

My two doll bodies arrived, EXACTLY as I requested - mobility joint in thigh and everything! I have to report, I wanted to match Fairyland color, so I got a paint chip at Home Depot, I then found that Behr has the colors online and they tell you the hex number (the one used for websites and such) and from the hex number I was able to go to the pantone site and find the closest matchs. I chose the best I could as computer screens are not reliable, and I was almost perfect, just ever so slightly warmer. Next time I may choose a slightly pinker tone, but it doesn't matter, I can't imagine noticing once the faceups are on the dolls

It's been many years since I ordered a RS doll, and the quality of the shi body is everything I hoped for! Just awesome!

 

Apollo was my first doll. We're celebrating ten years this year! I just ordered him a pair of jointed hands in celebration. You'll love him! I'd show you mine, but he's getting a complete revamp, so he'll be out of commission for a bit here.

 

Oooh, I love Apollo! I was actually very tempted by him because his nose is perfect, but Sui's eyes and pointed ears won over. But that was my second pick! (Followed by Song)

I just ordered a Su on Ai's body and im very excited! However im already planning another doll order with Dawn on the dragon girl body. Im just unsure wgat colors to go aaah. I feel dawn will look so good on that body.

 

Ok, so I had been thinking for a while that I loved the eyes but the nose weren't quite right, so I contacted Sun again about it just in case there was time for me to explain things better so that things could be modified, and they said they could! Apparently his body has already been cast, but not his head! I reached out just in time, lol! So I was able to upgrade it to be perfect and now I'm bubbling with excitement (as I'm sure you can tell.)

This also means I'll have no idea how he really looks until I see him, so I'm a little nervous. But mostly very excited and happy.

This is my first experience since he's my first, but I could not be happier with resinsoul so far!

(Still waiting for my Xun ghosty girl) I am 2 and a half weeks from the 2 month mark. I am getting so impatient. I haven't gotten everything done I wanted to yet so I can fill time that way, but I have already started thinking names and characters for her. I did realize I forgot to order her shoes, but I wonder will a ghost wear shoes?
I did find all my face up supplies so I just need eyelashes...she will have the company faceup but I am thinking of adding on to it

 

I've finally passed the two month estimate (I'm going off the 17th, since I requested my orders to be shipping together), and I'm nearly dancing with impatience! I'm very excited for my girl to have her body, and for my mod project (but sad to move my Mu on).

 

Oh, I just remembered, I didn't get notification that my doll shipped except that I asked a question and they told me that my order already shipped, so watch out for a package, @Thymeseer and @NekoMel

i haven't even received my first resinsoul doll yet and i'm already planning my second lol my next doll is going to be pretty complicated though and i'm not sure how to go about ordering it, i know you email sun for custom order i did it with my wei but trying to figure out how to explain what i want is hard

I know how you feel! I can be really bad at explaining things and expressing what I want. I ended up using pictures and other dolls as examples, but I won't know how well that went for almost another month!

That said, there is a translation barrier so I think the note simply you can explain it the better. I can't know how much visuals help but I'll definitely let you know how they went for me!

 

OK, I learned something. Apparently, buying RS doll from a dealer (at least Denver Doll Emporium) will take much longer to get than buying direct. I'm still waiting after 6 months for my order which included a RS Hang body. and it's the Hang body holding back my order So, yah, gonna buy direct from now on

 

Good to know! Honestly I have had a great experience ordering direct from them, especially because I wanted something very customized. I don't have my doll yet but so far have had a great experience with Resin soul!

 

Yah, mine was custom too, and DDE said I should deal directly with RS, which I'm thankful for. I realized what a really great company they are. Sure I bought some dolls years and years ago, but forgot what they were like. I did buy jointed hands a few times, that went well, but with these last two bodies I bought, I was just really happy with them

 

That's because DDE don't order from Resinsoul, they order from Bobobie who are awful at communication and for some reason insanely slow. Add to that the doll then has to be part of a large order which can't ship till all the dolls are ready and has to be double handled by shipping to the dealer, being unpacked and repacked and shipped on to you.

Dealers are useful for sure, especially when dealing with companies who's language barrier is a big issue or who's shipping is a bit hefty but resinsoul is so easy to deal with direct I don't really get why anyone would bother going any other way lol.

Last time I asked DDE about BBB I was basically told "yeah good luck" so sounds like they're pretty tired of their lack of communication too.

I'd only ever get a resinsoul or bbb doll in stock from a dealer.

sadly we don't have a uk dealer who does in stock dolls
