Resinsoul and Bobobie Mini Discussion Thread - Part 33

My Daytime has arrived! I’ve named him Eleutherius. I’ll edit to add pictures to this post shortly.


Edit: he’s pretty sturdy, which is great considering he came too tightly strung. So I’ll probably replace his string and do some sueding/wiring if needed, and then he’ll stand and pose like a dream, I can just tell. Still working on pics, I’ll edit again when I can post them.

I'm loving all the pictures of the new arrivals, can't wait for mine. Depending on how accurate the wait time is, he could be done around valentine's day.

 

I love seeing all these gorgeous new boys. Those hands are nice too. Are they the same as the dragon boy's or are they a new one?

I just asked for their standard purple! It's a really nice shade.

I should probably take advantage of the higher temperatures this week to do some airbrushing on my boy, but we're also having sporadic showers, so I don't know. Just want to do some basic blending between the parts and a little ombre on the horns. I've only used the airbrush once before, so it will be an EXPERIENCE probably.

 

they must have recently changed up their colours then. Their blue is definitely more blue, their purple more purple and less greyish and their dark tan is a much richer less ashy brown.
it's been a couple of years since I ordered a resinsoul and now i'm really curious how the new colour mixes compare because i'm certain my purple boy isn't that purple.

I'm feeling the itch for more resinsouls lol. But I don't have the money right now. I must be good!

 

The sculpting on the centaur and Shi bodies is also beautiful and surprisingly detailed.
The new Shi body has a pear bottom, and there's light abdominal sculpting. Daytime's arms and hands are nicely detailed.
Resinsoul is coming for the other companies' lunch money, is what I'm saying.

 

I think they’re the same, and I adore them. I’ll see if I can get some pics of the detail, they’re so delicate for being to intimidating-looking. They’ve definitely updated their colors within the last few years or so, as well! You’re right, they’re much more rich and vibrant.

Thank you! I also have plans for a female Yao centaur in grey tones. The contrast of warm and cool colors will be nice between the two centaurs, I think. I also have some more ambitious custom doll ideas I’ll be going to Resinsoul for, as well. I have to work on completing the dolls I already have first, though. Daytime was definitely an unplanned impulse purchase but I’d be lying if I said I regret it.

 

Hello, lurker here. I'm tossing around the idea of a Yan body hybrid (white minifee head, white Yan body). Does anyone happen to have Yan photos or know how she poses? And is she the same body as Zhen or did they change anything?

 

I think it’s the same body, but I’m not 100% sure. Chances are good that they are, they were released around the same time I believe. I do know that there’s a 0.5cm difference in the neck between the two dolls, but if you go to Resinsoul directly they’ll probably be able to make a 6.5cm neck to match the Minifee dimensions? Or else you might have to do some modding yourself (like if you get the body second-hand). You may have more modding experience than me (in which case disregard) but from my own limited hybriding experience, 0.5cm doesn’t seem like much until you consider the scale of the doll. Luckily Resinsoul has affordable pricing, so you don’t have to go down the modding route unless you want to.

 

Thank you! I did see there was a bit of a difference but wasn’t sure if it was real or measurement error. I’ll read up a bit more on head sizes. With the keys, I forgot that might be a problem. First time hybridder here.

No modding experience here, but sanding doesn’t sound too bad. I’ve got the head and a RS resin sample on the way to see if this idea will even work.

 

Sanding would be the best route if you can’t swing a custom order from RS (though I would still reach out to [email protected] for a quote, they may be able to do custom color-matching as well and their custom orders can be pretty affordable, considering. For instance, my last Resinsoul had custom elements and the shipping was more expensive than the customization). Luckily, if you do choose to mod, there’s lots of helpful threads here on DOA! Either way, I wish you the best!

 

I can confirm that Resinsoul custom colors are super affordable. I was only charged $30 extra for my Daytime order (see one page back for my mockup) that will have 4 colors total. Was also only charged $30 extra last time I did a custom color from them (an all black SD).

Just wanted to share my adorable little mocha bean He's currently nameless, and unfortunately RS forgot to put magnets inside of the head for one of the horns. But I'm not going to ask them to send me just one single magnet. Instead I'll tell them about the missing magnet the day I do my Ming order.

They also misunderstood me and did not make him with the same color on the tail and hooves as in the official images. But after seeing him like this, I'm actually glad I got him this way, I think I much more prefer him this way I'm also thinking that I could always get his tail and hooves spiced up with some airbrushing later if I decide to.

I don't really know what to name him, but he really is as beautiful irl as in the pictures I'm so happy I got him I know he'll be a new beginning for me when it comes to RS dolls. Currently I only got him and Flame. But I have owned a few RS sculpts in the past.

His body seem to be a bit taller than my Luts MSD centaur. He have more like slender elegant Bambi legs, he look really amazing!

He does not stand as well on his own as my Luts centaur does, so I put putty under his hooves to keep his legs in place on the table. I would suggest a bit of hotglue sueding to stable these ones, although I have not gotten to that part yet myself.

Depending on your screen, the centaur body may seem different in color. On my TV screen it seems almost black, but irl it is very dark brown.

I got mine too, yesterday. Just posted him as well Unfortunately mine only came with one magnet inside of the headcap, so mine is not wearing any horns right now.

RS unfortunately misunderstood me so mine did not come with the same color on the tail and hooves as in the official images. But it's fine, I don't really care! I think I actually much more prefer him just the way I got him

@manabusama thanks, your Daytime is lovely! Technically they got my colors wrong too, his horns were supposed to be darker like his hooves. However, like you I’m still pretty pleased and I agree, there can always be airbrushing or blushing to darken it at a later date.

 

Thank you They probably been super busy with all the orders, and people asking to get custom colors, and I guess miscommunication can happen when English is not their native language. But it's a good thing our dolls look awesome even if the color got wrong. Imagine the possibility you now got with the blushing, airbrushing. Since the color is lighter, not dark like my horns, you probably have more freedom when it comes to color picking

 

Omg that color combo is gorgeous! Did Resinsoul blush his torso too (blending the black? and brown) or did you do that? Would also love to see a pic of him next to a Luts centaur if you get the chance. My Daytime will be friends with my Luts centaur (hyrbid) girl.

Yes, RS did the blushing. I don't think I asked for it, but it were a nice surprize that they did I did order with body clushing, but they probably looked at him and felt that with the darker centaur body it needs a bit of blushing on the torso as well!

I do wish I could put on his horns, but he got to wait, and in the future I'll order some other hair styles to try on him. This wig he wears now were the only one I had that fit his colors. I'd love to try something curly and darker, and a bit longer.

 

He's gorgeous. I love the colours. Was the dark brown/black a custom request?

 

Thanks Yes, it is a custom request using pantone color card number. Personally I like it best if a centaur have different color on the centaur and human body parts. Unless the centaur is meant to be an albino, then I guess all white is best.

 

I love seeing ResinSoul custom orders, they always do such a neat job.

 

My dad found a Yao somewhere (maybe the antique store he has a booth at?), and he told me she was "ridiculously cheap"? Whatever that means? But regardless, I am the proud owner of a beautiful Yao! I'm going to dye her legs and hooves, but am debating which colors.
Her string has lost all elasticity, and all the pink has faded from her faceup, so she's going to be a delightful project! Temporary clothes, but I'm liking the wig and eye combo.

Of the three BJD orders I made so far, the Resinsoul body for my big deer god boy arrived first, and I love him. The custom color is a stunning purple, though lighting and my phone seem to make it that I can't get the shade exactly right on the camera vs in-person. I'd never handled a BJD before, much less a 1/4 scale, and I'm really pleased at his size-he's hefty and impressive, without being too big. I have noticed he can be kicky and I might need to try restringing, but he CAN stand on his own, both with legs in the straight and digitigrade positions. I'm really looking forward to sealing and painting him, and getting his skully head atop that neck.

But isn't that the Sui body? You can get hooved feet that fit the body ?

Myself, I'm going to focus on hooved characters now that I'm getting back to Resinsoul dolls again. I didn't know you could have a Sui body like this, but then again, Resinsoul is awesome when it comes to custom orders

Originally I were going to order a Ming, but a Sui sized faun is definitely going to be a part of my resinsoul crew as well in the future.

 

My exact custom request was the 45 cm boy torso, the Ming legs, and clawed hands, with the custom purple color. Ming on his own just didn't look adult enough to me, chest-wise. They were even able to do the clawed hands after e-mailed several days after the initial request, when I realized I'd forgotten to include them.

 

Ok, I see Your Sui/ Ming body hybrid look great though. I notice now those are not Sui thighs!

I guess I'll have to focus on Ming for now then, next time I do an order. I like the idea of a Sui sized faun, but then I'd also like him to be fully Sui faun sized, as I do want my faun characters to be different in height and body type. I'll just have to wait patiently, hopeing that oneday there will be a Sui sized faun. It does not necessarily have to be a Sui face sculpt, but a new faun that are based on Sui's body.

 

I truly love how versatile/flexible ResinSoul is willing to be with their custom requests, it makes me happy to see the creativity of people reflected in the dolls they order. I definitely would order a custom doll (probably Zhen on a human body) if I wasn't in school

 

Just paid off my Daytime custom! Hoping Resinsoul actually informs me when they ship this time so I have somewhat of a heads up.

When I ordered a custom Resinsoul SD last year, they never told me when they shipped. He just showed up one day not too long after I paid him off. At least the wait is usually pretty short.

 

Same. I've ordered two dolls and a body. The only notice I got was from DHL, lol.

 

Sun emailed me to confirm my final payment and tell me they'll be mailing my Daytime in late February. So I got some time frame at least!

I ordered a dark tan xi from DDE - she was in stock and they’re packing her up now so I don’t have a long wait.

it’s been about 10,000 years since I’ve looked at RS for anything not jointed hands, I didn’t know they had new bodies or so many beautiful new sculpts at all! I bought her off the few site photos DDE has posted so she’s going to be a surprise when she gets here lol (basically because I have no idea what I bought hahahaha)

I purchased a Mei for my wife a few days ago! She wanted a cheaper doll to pair with my Fairyland one since she’s huge on mods. They will look fabulous together.

 

Aww. Mei is such an adorable sculpt, and she's so slight, she and your FL doll should have no problem sharing clothes.

 

Once upon a time, I had a Mei who used to wear Minifee sized clothing. I don't remember which specifically but one of the minifee female bust sizes is the exact same size as Resinsoul Mei's bust (on her default body). Keep telling myself that some day I'll order a Mei again but next time on the double jointed 1/4 body. Some day, some day~

I don’t know. I looked for the piece and couldn’t find it in the packaging. But on the other hand I can’t believe they would have missed it.

I don't think DDE really checks their dolls before shipping them out unfortunately. Or at least not their Resinsoul dolls. The one time I ordered a Resinsoul from them, he was missing a piece. But they did get me that piece after being contacted at least. Hope they help you as well @VampireAngel13

 

my first resinsoul arrived with a snapped off ear. resinsoul were really nice and cast me a new head. It just meant I had to wait a bit longer.

 

DDE made an absolute hash of an Impldoll order I made through them, charged me an absolute packet to fix it (except it was never satisfactorily fixed. . .) and then blamed it all on Impldoll which put me off the company for YEARS. It was only after I finally mustered the courage to order directly from Impldoll that I realized the issues were all from DDE - I don't order resin through them anymore.
I suggest you contact ResinSoul directly if DDE starts giving you any runaround or tries to make you pay for the replacement part.
tangentially related, I ended up "fixing" my Impldoll order myself by hybriding the deertaur body with a RS Rong, which gave me the very lovely Siha.

I ended up loving her so much I picked up a 2nd deertaur body to create another hybrid. Does anyone have recent pictures of RS' dark tan? I've got a lovely tan Wol head I'm hoping it'll be a close enough match for

 

She looks lovely! It's horrifying how much DDE did to avoid taking responsibility... I'll maybe think twice before buying from them instead of through RS directly, next time I order.

 

I’ve ordered a ton from them over the years and never had an issue, but they haven’t emailed me back yet which is a little worrying.

 

if the doll you want isn't already in stock absolutely order directly from RS - it'll take about 1/3 less time to get your doll and RS has wonderful customer service

 

Well I heard back! They’re sending me a new leg! Relief. I had no idea what to do or what the options would be

edit: lol I’m getting a whole new body and they are paying to shop the broken one back! Now I’ll have the small bust, which I prefer so yay!!
