Oh she's really pretty! Thank you for posting the unboxing video!

TBH I don't really mind the angel body--as others have noted, sometimes clothing fits/drapes better. I kinda wish I'd asked Resinsoul to sand the "details" on my doll's chest (I got her with the Rong torso) to at least smooth them out a bit; for the most part, it's not an issue, but I do have one stretchy/snug top for my doll and they're really, uh, obvious when she's wearing it. I'd do it myself but I know that resin dust can be pretty toxic, and I'm worried it would damage the sealant used on the blushing I got on her collarbones, if the sealant covers her whole chest.

 

Yes, she's very solid, which makes me wince at the thought of having to unstring her, but it has to be done. Why Resinsoul does the knots in the head instead of the chest will forever be a mystery. She's not going to be my vtuber avatar, though I can definitely see the comparison. Here she is with some of the wefts for the wig I'm making her:

I need to get bodies for some floating heads so i'm pondering RS for not only their price point but the improved engineering on their recent bodies and their colour matching services realy do make them stand out from the other low price bjds who often only offer like 2 colour choices.

I have a soom grey head I need colour matched. I understand their newer "light grey" is faaar too light so i'm going to have to write them an email and ask them if they can emulate their old light grey/match soom. Though I was also pondering if I might just avoid potential colour mismatch entirely by going with intentional mixing. Someone posted a half transparent doll which I thought was a pretty elegant solution to a hybrid colour matching issue. But I need to have a think about what I want the final doll to look like.

I also need to figure out who I want to give paws and a tail to lol.
my Rong was always supposed to have a tail, I just never got around to making her one but the fluffy tail isn't exactly what I had in mind. but i'm hoping they do some more tails and fantasy parts like that soon enough.

Funny thing is, while I really like the new rs bodies, i'm not as keen on their new art direction for the heads. I can't quite pinpoint what it is, they're a little narrower and longer I think. I dunno. But maybe that's a good thing because I have far too many heads here in need of bodies so getting that sorted without temptation for whole new doll heads is probably helpful. hahaha.

 

I know that RS offers almost every color match under the sun, but I was wondering if anyone can direct me to any unbroken resin matching photos/threads/posts of their default offered normal resin? I'm looking specifically for matches close to Soom or Luts Normal.

The custom purple color is GORGEOUS! And the mega-tail (a combination of two tails) poses wonderfully! I will sing Resinsoul's praises forever.

Yep, I requested a black tail and a white tail, then unstrung the both of them, and then strung the pieces together into an extra long tail.

And yep yep, these are Pi/Pixiu's feet! I'd ordered scaled-up 1/4 size Pi feet before to go with my Rainbow earlier this year, and these bird feet are even bigger than those to suit the wider foot joint of the digitigrade legs.

Love that Resinsoul is able to grant us such customized options~ Big fan of the Angel body too, it works well for my slinky guy.

 

That's incredible looking and one of the best examples of how crazy Resinsoul can get. Is the head a Resinsoul customization, another company, or did you do some sculpted add-ons?

Everyone's beautiful hybrids are further convincing me that I need to make a 'just buy a Resinsoul' page with a guide to custom ordering and a gallery of what they can pull off.

 

The head’s a different company. I tried to dye it a matching purple color, but it didn’t turn out right. I’ll make it work though lol.

He's spectacular! Resinsoul is truly the GOAT Love how the tail turned out— I already thought it would look cool, but the final result looks even better than how I imagined it.

Those were the Ming legs, right? They look so good with the Pi feet! I would never guess these were from two different models if I didn't already know

Here's something interesting that I noticed. His rescaled Pi feet are the same size as the rescaled Pi feet that I previously ordered for my Rainbow, but Resinsoul thickened the entire sculpt to better fit the larger Ming foot joints. I really appreciate that they did that~ It looks really nice!



I think those peanut thigh joints really help with the wonky-standing Ming legs, too. With those big feet and some sueding and wiring, he's got some sturdy birdy feet.

 

Could any of you lovely people who have those peanut thigh joints perhaps tell me what the circumference of the hip side of the peanut is?

I'm getting a doll who has single jointed hips and I am hoping that if Resinsoul hip peanut size works, then I can just ask them nicely to sell me some hip peanuts, some thighs and some knee joints and hopefully I can do a weird leg hybrid.

 

I am now regretting that it didn't occur to me to ask if they could add thigh joints to the body i ordered in April >< I'm going to need to find a good way to suede and probably wire the ming legs for it because they sure don't want to stand well as is!

 

Those new bird feet almost look like a whole new sculpt! I want them!

 

Sorry for the possibly weird question, but is there anyone who has the 1/4 male jointed hands and could maybe share a picture of them with a ruler for scale? I would also appreciate any tips for ordering things in non-standard colors from Resinsoul.

For an explanation - I want to get a pair of jointed hands in black resin for one of my dolls. The wrist measurements for his body is about the same as for the Resinsoul ones; however, as he's a larger, more mature 1/4 scale doll, I'm concerned that the hands themselves may be too small or youthful-looking. They're supposed to be gloves, so I don't want them to be noticeably smaller than his default hands.

 

So I really really love the Ming legs with the thigh peanuts. I’m already planning two more custom orders with Ming legs modded with peanuts; one a werewolf (which means PAWS), and the other a unicorn, which will involve an upsized Nian horn. For the unicorn, I’m wondering if Resinsoul would be able upsize their little Ox’s tail for her…

 

Don't see why they wouldn't! Or custom do something similar. I remember seeing in the SD-scale Resinsoul dolls thread that somebody had a custom goat tail made for their doll.

 

Just took a look through that thread and saw the custom goat tail. I had no idea Resinsoul could make something completely custom like that! Incredible!

Ooh I love his expression! Is it just me or do his eyes seem a little on the small end for Resinsoul's usual style? Either way he is definitely cute.

 

I need some advice, I'm planning a custom bjd who's a ghost so I've decided to go with Resinsoul due to their awesome custom color options (I need a translucent bluish-white skin color and was told Resinsoul can likely do it)

But I can't find any comparison of their boy bodies, does someone have different ones and can make a comparison Pic? It's not about the 5cm difference they're offering for MSD but I need one that not muscular at all if possible, maybe even a bit childish... The character I want to do is around 12 so muscles don't really fit
Their newest body looks quite ok I guess but I'd like more options

The head I want to go with is "Ya"

I see. Well, as far as I can tell, this latest body is also the one with the least amount of muscle.

Kitty Blue posted a MSD boys comparison video on YouTube some time ago. It might be useful for you.
There's even some translucent bluish-white skin color in it, hehe.


And there's always the option to ask Resinsoul for body customization. They've removed muscles before.

 

I think you're right about his eyes! He is very cute, and the body looks nice! It looks like it must be a shorter version of the wukong body from what i can tell

But ooo looks like he has proper peanut joints in his elbows which is awesome.

His hands are different to their usual as well, being on a ball socket rather than one complete sculpt. And the sculpting of the hand itself looks really nice.

He has an unusual nose. I always like the Resinsoul give their dolls unusual noses.

7.8 is a pretty large neck circumference though. Wukong's is 8cm too which is again,quite wide. I'm actually curious how different this body is to Wukong's because they look very similar if not the same. Measurements quoted are different though and they did say it was a "new body" so hmmm...
Gonna have to ask for clarification there.

I specifically asked for comparisons to tang and wu's default bodies so we'll see how they interpret that.

Hello~ I'm Ashe and I have two RS/BBB boys. One's an An, the other is a Sprite head on a RS boy body from pre-2010, the An was second hand from someone I used to know, the Sprite I bought myself. The An is white skin, the Sprite was custom-painted by me because the RS/BBB purple didn't have the right tone, so I painted him fully purple and sealed him with a polyurethane sealant, he will always be purple. The only way to change it would be sanding him and I'm not doing that. Once I get some clothes sewn for them and can get some pictures I'll post them. I lost everything but my dolls and their wigs/eyes in a fire in 2012, so they're currently a bit naked XD

I make 99% of them, but rn they're all taking turns with the plastic wrap and masking tape XD That's how I make my basic block patterns for them, and once I have the basics I can alter from there.

 

I think a couple of people here have Qingqiu and I have a couple of weirdly specific questions if someone wouldn't mind answering.

What is the circumference of the hip part of the hip peanut and how long is the thigh piece to the top of the knee joint?

 

Looks like the peanut's circumference is about 10 cm / 4 inches. My body's a hybrid, so I can't confirm the thigh length.

 

Thank you. They'll be a little small for the hip joints, but that's better than the opposite, especially if I add some sueding.

Welcome back! I love the colours on Liina, so gorgeous and icy. I think An might be my favourite face sculpt of any company, every time I see it I think "ooo pretty" and then remember I already have one lol.

Resinsoul is having a discount on some of their dolls! They're not saying until when, but I assume it should run until at least 11/11 since the "global shopping festival" is the reason for the discount.

 

What a very random assortment of things discounted. It's not all dolls and it's not even all dolls within a category. like.. Mei is discounted, but Ju isn't.
Odd.

Unfortunately it looks like only the monkey king boys are discounted of all the male dolls.

The list looks to be:

Ian, Mei, Yousou, Qingqiu, Lina, Ran, Rouxi and both monkey king versions.

I'm tempted, but really I just need bodies and those don't appear to be discounted.

 

Do other people struggle finding eyes for their resinsoul dolls?
It always feels like gambling when I try to get new eyes. I already know high dome eyes mostly don't work, but even flatter ones often don't fit well (the eye are really weirdly shaped on some dolls, very very flat?) and there's a lot of gaping at the side. (I've especially had that problem with my Song and Mai heads)
I've had some luck using flat plastic buttons on which I paint eye designs, but I can't make them look realistic.
So, I'm wondering how other people manage?

 

Oval eyes or eyes with small irises are the solution. If you have some eyes, find ones that fit the eye socket. Then find ones that have the iris size you want and carefully measure the iris. Then look for small iris eyes that match closely. Sartoria has small iris eyes and you can find them on etsy and other doll company sites.

 

A lot of resinsoul's older sculpts are kinda wonky so i've learned to just embrace the jank lol. My song definitely has some gaping with her default eyes but eh. it's not too bad.

But yeah, you could definitely try different styles and shapes. Oval, high done, more pointy domed ones, small iris and so on.
I generally just use standard 14mms and they work for most of them. Though some do still have gaps.

 

As an aside, i'm wanting to get a soom grey matching body for a head I have here and while Resinsouls' OLD light grey is a pretty close match, their newer one apparently isn't. So i'll have to ask them to colour match if possible.
so i'm trying to figure out a good way to disguise mismatching colours.

I'm thinking a neck tat could certainly hide a lot lol. But i'm also considering getting some transparent parts just to make it a bit more funky. I mean, I do enjoy a custom doll and with resinsoul they let you do basically whatever so i'm trying to come up with an idea that I think might work.

I mean those sized up paws and bird feet really inspired me too.

Anyone got any completely mad customs they care to share?

 

I'm in much the same boat. I have a couple of floating heads I'd love bodies for that I'd want custom from Resinsoul...but what? With Resinsoul there's so many possibilities! I want pretty colors and transparent resin and PAWS.

I LOVE the Ming legs with the added thigh peanuts, so that's a good place to start for me.

 

So I've seen people mention on here that Resinsoul has sized up certain parts like the bird/dog feet etc. (including a comment right above!), but has anyone ever asked them to size DOWN one of the SD-sized face sculpts to MSD-size?
I was bored and looking at their SD dolls the other day, which I've never really looked at before because I'm just not that interested in a doll that big, and I stumbled across Rui and oh my word, she is BEAUTIFUL. But I just don't want a 68cm doll. Any idea if it would even be possible to size down a sculpt without it becoming wonky?

 

Yes, I asked Dollmore to downsize a head and they did it! Telesthesia&Dragon has reduced a number of their 68-72cm dolls to about 50cm.

 

Shrinking or enlarging sculpts is likely far more doable if they have digital scans or the original sculpt was digital in the first place. Hand sculpted casts are going to be harder to do. But hey, you lose nothing asking.

I'm thinking of asking if they can match volks grey but have black lower arms and add some paint myself to sort of do this shadowy effect.

I'm also pondering one of their new taller boy bodies for my Doll Leaves Ben who i always felt needed a tall lanky body. His original body just didn't work for his head shape, he looked bobbleheaded. Resinsoul's "normal" should mostly match Doll Leaves, they're both super pale.

But I also am so so tempted by those paws and bird feet. I just don't know what doll i'd use them for you know? I have a myou body here that I always wanted to put bird feet on but i'm not sure how they'd look/fit. And whether it'd be better to do the whole leg, the lower leg or just the foot piece.

also, the peanuts for the Ming legs! I want peanuts! My ming and rong both have terrible trouble standing and if those peanuts make a huge difference to the stability then i'm sorely tempted to set some money aside to upgrade their legs.

Maybe after christmas when i'm flush with cash i'll do a big resinsoul order lol.

 

Regarding head shrinkage-my bestie asked Sun about this back in August 2023, as she was hoping to get some SD heads at a smaller scale herself. At the time, Sun said they couldn't shrink heads, but if enough people asked, that might change. So I guess a key thing might be people showing interest?

Does anyone know if another company sells hands in different poses that fit Resinsoul and match their resin colors (specifically Normal and Dark Tan)?
I would love some hands in different poses for my dolls, especially holding hands! I know Resinsoul makes the jointed ones, and I know a lot of people like them, but to me they look kinda skeletal and weird me out lol.

 

Well, I haven't put any attention to hands before, but I have DF-A and TD dolls in normal pink, and Bonbon Galaxy in Mia pink, and they all look like Resinsoul Normal to me. I switched some hands from one body to another before, and to be honest I cannot tell which hands belong to which body anymore, lol.

The magnets they used for her are way better than the ones on my dragons (Sui and Zhen).
