@Koma - your Fei looks so sweet! @Fairy Milliner - Congrats on your new guy! I have a Jun in purple, but he's a much different shade, lol. He's lighter and the yellowing has changed the tone. I like it, but I also love the more vibrant color of yours. (Which looks more like my purple Song.) I got my Jun a wig for Christmas and naturally, it doesn't want to stay on his head after I put it on the first time. I know I'm going to have to make some careful cuts. That's what I had to do with a Jun that I no longer have. Those ears are beautiful but oh are they a challenge! Did you have to adjust your wig any to get it to stay on or did it just fit on him okay?
@purple_monkfish - it's their new default. I like it. Very different from my purple Pixiu - I bought him a horn a while ago and noticed the big change. (Not using the horn now - I may blush it to see whether I can make it match a bit better.) @pepperonipizza - I was hesitating between sky blue and purple for Jun, but I"m really happy with the purple. The wig will need a bit of careful cutting, and probably a headcap or a bit of velcro. I did get it to fit, but it keeps popping off. I have a similar problem with my Lu and of course Ariel. I love the variety of ears that RS gives us, but it's really hard to get wigs to stay put.
The sky blue is a color I want to get really bad one of these days. I'm thinking Rainbow in sky blue would be so pretty! I'll be getting a wig cap for my Jun as well, and I'll probably have to notch the sides for those ears. I got my new wig to stay on the first time I put it on him, but like yours, it now just keeps popping off! I agree - RS gives us such great ears! Ariel is on my To Get list, I'll just expect more ear problems when I get mine! And now that I'm thinking about it, can everyone share any sky blue dolls that they have?
are all their new colours a lot more vivid? Their older ones definitely have a grey cast to them with the exception of the green which seems to be remarkably consistent. Have the blues changed too? I know their dark grey is a lot darker than it was, more a charcoal sort of shade now, or at least a few of the more recent batches seemed to be significantly darker. but what about their light grey? I wonder if they have an updated colour chart somewhere. ...
It's very hard to tell about the blues, because of the yellowing. My older blue dolls are more aqua than light blue. If I look at older photographs, though, it looks like the light blue is the same as it always was. The newest light blue I have (my RS Lu) is not really very vivid. I think (again, from photographs) that the sky blue seems less greyish than it used to. This is an old picture of my RS/BBB dolls, I have all the different old colours... The black RS Dan on the top right is a custom order. I have Bao in sky blue near the top, and on the bottom row are Pi in light blue, Pixiu in the old purple and a human version of Pixiu (on a Bei body) in light blue.
I have some recent blue/sky blue comparisons!! From March of this year. They're off topic for this thread, but colors are colors. IMG_20240328_164229846 by Thymeseer, on Flickr
I do think the sky blue in your picture is less grey (brighter) than my Bao, who is the only sky blue doll I have. The light blue doesn't seem to have changed much, but like I said, RS sky blue, white and pink all yellow a lot in my experience, so all I have to go from is old photographs. This is Loriel (Pi on a Pixiu girl body) when she was new. She might be slighty greyer than your picture, but it isn't that noticeable and might just be a batch difference. Also OT, but like you said, colors are colors.
is that brighter blue sky blue? wow, it's a lot brighter. My only sky blue doll is a very very old Song and she's storm cloud coloured, like seriously this incredible blue grey tone. Not really "sky" unless the sky in question is about to rain on you lol. I have most of the older colours but I don't have a light grey or regular blue. I wonder if their red is still teracotta coloured, it's a neat colour but it's not really "red". The newer brighter purple tempts me hehehe. but I also need a light grey which i'm told MIGHT match soom grey.. maybe... possibly. Or at least be close enough because at this point I don't really care if the match is 100% I just want a dang body for my boy.
I'm finalizing my ideas for the custom doll I'd like to order from Resinsoul, and I'm torn between the Li and Rong torsos. Is one easier to find clothes for than the other, in anyone's experience? My thought is that Li's smaller chest may make it easier, but then she may not "fill out" some tops as well, and the Rong chest seems closer to the MiniFee measurements I found (and there are a lot of clothes designed for MiniFees on Etsy that seem like they'd be in the ballpark for Resinsoul MSDs). ETA: Also, what color does the normal skin yellow to? Does anyone have good pics of a yellowed NS Resinsoul to share? I'm curious to see it to see how my faceup ideas might look once it's yellowed.
@StoryTeller42 I don't have a Rong body but I do have the new Lina body and it fits minifee clothing very nicely in the chest. Although it is longer in the legs than minifee legs (I have a moeline body) the overall measurements are very close. I would say the smaller chest is quite small, just judging by the dimensions of my RS minis (I have three Song bodies and the Lina body).
Sorry to double-post, but I'm so stoked--I've ordered my custom doll from Resinsoul! She's a Mei head on a custom hybrid body. Does anyone know what eye size(s) Mei uses?
I think Mei uses 14 mm. I find that for most of my RS dolls the 12 mm eyes have too much gapping. Congratulations on your new doll!
14mm works well. They do need to be low dome, though, or they will have a bit of gapping at the sides. I like oval flat backs, as they tend to sit a bit closer to the opening than full spheres do, but either can work as long as the iris doesn't protrude too much. You could probably even get away with some 16mm eyes, she is a big eyed girl.
DHL is delivering today, and with that came my customized Yao body! I need to get the magnet in place for her eventual tail (it was nicely hollowed out on her back, per my request) but the big thing? MSD PAWS. pupper by Cryptic Cryptid, on Flickr They're big, chonky, and she does a good job of standing on them. This is actually a pink body tone, but the head I'll be using and my lighting and floors make it look fleshier.
my order for a resinsoul lu head, on a rong body, with lu hands came in! i wasn't certain that it would look good since the rong body is a bit bigger than the usual. but i think it looks great!! now the fun stuff starts…time to learn how to make wigs and shoes and aaaa everything! i have an alice collections order on the way for her, but we'll see how long that takes
@Cryptid and @JinxedMadness : Those are BOTH amazing customs!!!!!!! Those paws are TOO CUTE! I have needz * _ * And The Lu head looks, IMHO, SOOOO much better on the Rong body! And that color~ Perfect!
Paws paws paws! now I just want to order random feet from resinsoul lol. Paws, bird feet, anything else they got. I love fantasy parts. I still pine for a jointed tail. Maybe one day they'll give us that.
PAWS? Omg......I'd love a MSD with paws!!! It looks fantastic! How does one go about requesting custom doll parts and colors?
How much are they charging for the upscaled paws? They look so good! Lu also looks better on the bigger body. The original default body is so short and I didn't notice it until I ordered my Yao body hybrid.
In case anyone is curious about the option, I was able to request thigh joints added to the 45cm (originally sold with Tang, I think) boy body for me, at no extra cost, and when the body arrived they were fully functional! The s-hook the body came with was HUGE which made my hybrid not work until I got a replacement hook from the local hardware store, and the stringing was a bit confusing for me since the knot for the arms had to be above the neck apparently (I can try making the elastic shorter and mess around with the tension and stuff, but I was tired) but I am happy with it! I will say though that the specific body tends to be more inclined to fall into shy or "I don't want to be perceived" poses rather than the ones I really need for the character I'm shelling, but I plan to allow myself the opportunity to mod him quite a bit as needed. I'm hoping to adjust his hip sockets a bit and make his elbows easier to rotate- though of course I will be doing A LOT of research first (and making sure I have proper PPE of course) but anyway he'll take a bit of work but that's just a sign of my dedication to the character Unfortunately the DollZone head I chose is a bit big for the body after all (I made a thread asking about it a while back then took the plunge on getting the body without waiting to see other people's examples, oops, and I do need to reply there rather than leaving the helpful people hanging, oops-) and I'm hoping the effect will be less noticeable with clothes since the character I'm shelling has a pretty bulky outfit. Maybe changing his wig will help also, someone suggested I get a custom one for the character but I'm not sure what besides a faux fur wig can give him proper anime spikes... (box opening, I hope it's okay that I'm linking offsite. I still need to take proper pics of him on the body, that will come later when I have more free time and a chance to sew!)
Anyone have a Pantone color swatch that you know is close to fairyland ns and/or tan for a resinsoul color match, by chance?
polarpose by Cryptic Cryptid, on Flickr Showing off a nearly complete Polaris; last step will be setting in the magnet and making a tail for her. I'm really pleased with how stable the big paws seem to make her. They actually seem more stable to me than the dragon feet, though with that I wonder if it's a need to restring again plus the additional weight of those resin wings making things harder to balance.
My Rainbow arrived! Look at those big bird feet! I love them! (And the purple wings, of course!) Not even two days before she shipped out, I added a pair of last minute bird feet for my Rouxi body and I'm very surprised they arrived in the same order. They don't really fit the oversized deer body ankles (yes, I know those aren’t actually the ankles on digitigrade/ungulate legs) very well, but they're still cute. Gosh I love how the feetsies turned out!
Oh, she's gorgeous, @slight! I actually like the bird feet on the oversize ankles. (I'm still waiting for the shipping notice of my Tears, which should be any day now, I hope.)
Oh those bird feet are perfect! I think i can see a random parts order from rs in my future lol. I keep hoping they do a jointed tail or something because I NEED tails for dolls. Ahem. I'm loving this new purple too. It's SO vivid!
So it turns out that Resinsoul's beautiful purple resin is a 98% match to a purple 3D printing filament I had, so I made my bird girl a bird tail! It's floppy, so she can even sit with it too! (Also the way the sunlight filters through her wings is lovely~) Spoiler: Bonus pic from the front Rainbow is definitely my favorite Resinsoul I own
Oooh she looks awesome, and the way the sunlight goes through the wings is gorgeous! I thought they had special blushing on them at first!
Hey all, I really want to order a resinsoul ai body (the hooved sd one) and an mad boy body this year. I wanted to ask here for your experience with the resin match service from them. Do you think the result can be good enough if I send them just official screencaps of the resin colours? I have a light pink from doll chateau and a light tan from dream valley. Or do you think its better to send parts to them? Thanks a lot! Also, how long did it take you to receive your orders? Is three months realistic?
Screen differences mean you're always going to get some variation, more than if you sent a physical thing like a paint chip or something to match. What you can do is try to find a matching paint swatch and send that if the match HAS to be as close as possible but if you don't mind some difference then screen will do, it just won't be as precise. I haven't ordered from RS in a while but when I got my custom boy it was a 3-4 month wait, that seems to be standard if ordering direct from them. I'd estimate about 4 months so that if it's sooner it's a pleasant surprise lol. this was the colour I requested and the actual doll is less green in person. So if you need a very specific colour rather than a broad sort of ballpark then sending a physical match (either the resin head backs themselves or a paint swatch that matches) is probably gonna get you the better result.
In my experience, if you're hoping to match a resin you already have, your best bet is to send them either a piece to match or send them a physical paint swatch that matches the piece you already have. I pulled a swatch with the pantone number of milktea rose from switch's website for them to match, and the body is much darker than the head i have. I've got pictures of it here. In terms of time, I placed my order directly with them at the end of November, was quoted about 2 months, and it arrived mid-February, so 3-4 months is a safe estimate.
She's here! I ordered her in exactly the same resin as on the website, and I don't regret it. The wig is temporary. I had another one, but it hid her amazing ears. I think her permanent wig will probably be short. Probably similar but better fitting. The face-up artist put a lot of love into the blushing. Lovely detail on her hands and feet, and the ears are amazing.
Anyone else noticed a sudden slowdown in responses from Resinsoul? I sent an inquiry on Monday and haven't heard back yet. Given I'm used to a 24 hour response, this is pretty unusual. Wondering if they have a sudden order backup or something.
The tree behind my complex has lots of crannies perfect to set dolls in. I'm going to take so many pictures! Here's my Yao, Kiri. @Fairy Milliner Ohhhhh my word she's so beautiful. Congratulations! IMG_20250414_132202697_BURST001 by Thymeseer, on Flickr
Did you hear back from them? I want to ask them about a body, but I'm still waffling on if I want to reach out directly or go through DDE, which i know takes longer, but has the slight chance of maybe not having the tarriff issue by the time it's ready, and being able to change my address more easily if i need to :/
I did hear back after I sent a follow up a week later; it looks like the e-mail somehow got eaten. My guess is that the photos I'd attached for reference caused an issue. I just placed an order myself after a lot of waffling and fussing; hoping that in the two months or so they normally take, the tariffs will be adjusted to a more reasonable level.
I've been looking for Resinsoul dolls for my girlfriends doll project. The last time I've really done research on them was almost ten years ago and I just wanted to say how happy I am to see them look even better than they were before! My girlfriend is mostly interested in the tiny dolls but to me especially the new Resinsoul 1/4 sculpts look so good! I have loved seeing everyones owner pics and love the creativity that Resinsoul owners have. Ty for sharing your dolls!
Looking for a wig for Ming and wondering what size would fit best? His head size is listed as 18.5 so I wasn't sure if a 7/8 would be too small. I usually buy Leekeworld wigs if that matters.
@CosmicSaturday 7/8 generally works fine for Ming. His head does measure 18.5 cm or about 7 1/4 inches, so that checks out. I will say, though, that his ears can get in the way if a wig is made with a very deep wig cap. Leeke wigs are hit and miss quality wise and I believe they sell wigs from several different makers, so it's difficult to say anything definite unless you are able to find someone who owns the exact wig you are looking at. But over all, most 7/8 should fit.
My Mings are both wearing 7/8 Leekeworld wigs. Those particular wigs have zero issues from his ears. I don't have any accessible pics ATM, or I'd post pics.
I took my Wu out for pictures! My little ghost: IMG_20250510_152717460_BURST001 by Thymeseer, on Flickr
Oh man, seeing all the cool fantasy dolls/colors Resinsoul is doing really makes me wish I was more into their face sculpt style. I love seeing other people's dolls from them, though-- the transparent resin seems really, really awesome and I love the creativity in styling. I am curious, how easy is it to find patterns for the 1/4 boy body that came with Tang and I think a version of one of the dragons? I have a hybrid on that body and it seems to be on the taller end of "slim minis". I'm looking around for like long trenchcoats in particular but honestly I need practice sewing for them in general. The coat is for a cosplay, and I could try to modify another size pattern, but I'm very new at this so if anyone has recs feel free to throw them my way. I am a bit confused about where hybrid stuff should be posted, the head is DollZone so most of the time pics of the full doll will be in that thread, but when discussing clothing I could pop in here, assuming that's okay. I really like the body sculpting wise, I would love to see more dolls who use it, surprisingly enough it doesn't seem super common even in spaces dedicated to Bobobie/Resinsoul dolls. Is it a matter of it being an odd size, or just people's interest? Or do I have bad luck and just keep missing it? Either way, I'm happy to see more pics of it in general. And, honestly, more of people's custom orders, or fantasy dolls... Resinsoul as a company has so much potential and I'm surprised they are still able to work quick and not get flooded with orders, since my doll's body literally took about a month and that's amazing.
Have you tried looking on the more "fashion doll" side of 1/4th scale? Like Raccoon Doll's style or Iple's FID line. Luts briefly had a line like that, and my Sui is in one of their outfits. It's a little loose, but you'll definitely get the correct length and proportions more then in the Minifee-style side. If you check out Antique Lilac, she sews a lot for that size and may have a pattern available you can use as a base?
As far as I know, hybrids are welcome in all the related discussion threads. So you can post it both here and in the DollZone thread if you like. Depending on the context it may be a good idea to mention that it's a hybrid when posting pictures, just to avoid confusion, but other than that it's all good.
Was just on their site and saw they posted a new MSD girl, Qingqiu! I think she's supposed to be a fox girl, that jointed tail looks awesome! RESINSOUL--Qingqiu
