Beansproutmomo, your girl is so stunning! I love her unique faceup and style...she's absolutely gorgeous.

And I was finally able to complete the project girl I picked up in the marketplace a couple of months ago. We had a break in between cold fronts where I was finally able to spray sealant. So here at long last is my white skin Mei on the double jointed body. Her name is Shandre.

I repainted Fiona's eyes tonight! They're pretty sweet in person, they catch the light in all kinds of ways and sparkle so much. Someday I'll get ahold of a pair of those awesome Oscar eyes with the jewels and glitter and galaxies in them, but for now this will do.

They're actually the acrylic eyes he shipped with! I popped out the lens, scraped off the paint, and repainted it with nail polish. ^^; They were meant to be temporary but I sort of like them...
Pupa Paradise sells DIY acrylic eyes though! I think they can be found on Amazon as well.

After over six years of thinking 'oh I should get a Resinsoul Song' - I finally bit the bullet last year and got one. And today he came home from his spa at gabriel/lightlybattered (face-up + eye-mod) and I am sooo glad I finally added this guy to my family ;u;

 

I got a Resinsoul Tang head for my single-jointed RS body I've had lying around.^-^ I really like his sculpt and the aesthetics of the single jointed body-- not too fond of the poseability (or lack thereof), though.

I am having a problem finding nicely fitting eyes though. ); RS supplied me with some 14(?)mm ones, but they seem a bit big, and don't fit into the sockets all the way. Should I swap them out for 12mm, or is the socket just lopsided? :/

 

I am so happy - my WS Song came home today! I'd share pics, but photobucket is giving me a LOT of trouble. (Again, grrrrr.

@Celestine - that is unfortunately one problem that RS dolls can have. They tend to have shallow eye sockets so some eyes are hard to get to actually fit right.

@Roterwolkenvogel - congrats on your Song! He looks amazing!

@ekses - those eyes are AMAZING!!!! You can actually do that? :O That makes me tempted to try it out myself with some of my unusable eyes. Is there any tricks to it?

 

Thank you! D: Yeah! They were meant to be a temporary solution until I could find a pair of eyes I liked for Fiona, but I've grown kind of attached. They've been in him for nearly a year now with no ill effects, and I was even able to remove the first round of nail polish from them and repaint.

I used a needle to carefully make a hole in the back of the eye, behind the iris, so I could push the lens out of the eye. The paint on the back of the lens scraped off with just my fingernail, but I think more stubborn paint could be gently sanded away with a nail file block like this.

Personally, I took the little clear lenses and stuck them into a bit of eye putty to hold them still while I experimented with colours! I used a glitter topcoat as the first layer of paint, then two coats of the pink colour since it was super sheer. ^^; After they were dry and reassembled I used the shine/buff side of the nail file block to make them extra shiny. :3c /end!

I restrung Fiona over the weekend... I was startled by how floppy he'd gotten. X_x I'm still using the elastic that came with him and wondering if I should change it... I think I might, just because I'm a weirdo who really enjoys restringing dolls! It's so calming. '

 

Does anyone have a RS Tang? I am IN LOVE with his body and I would like to see some good photos of his head/face.

 

My Bobobie Ariel arrived from Junkyspot on Thursday (11 days to get from San Francisco to UK, and 6 days of that was spent going through customs!!). I was way too excited to do a box opening!! (she's my second bjd ordered, but the first to arrive).

And much like others have said, their product photos do not do their dolls justice!! Her faceup is world's better up close (I'm gonna leave it till it starts to fall apart), and her resin is soooooo smooth and well-built!

Here's her first photoshoot - she's wearing a pair of tights I made yesterday, which I'm very pleased with. Her t-shirt I also made, which is now an off-the-shoulder top, seeing as the neck somehow magically expanded Not bad though, considering this is the first time I've touched my sewing machine for about 6 years...

I'm waiting for some clothes to arrive, though I plan to make most of mine. And I'm waiting for two wigs to arrive, so she's a little bald for now. I rather like it!

Her eyes are 'Blond Bombshell' by CandyKittensEmporium on Etsy!

I think her' name's Bretta - she doesn't have a direct character, but she's gonna be a woodland ranger. At some point! May take me a while!

 

That might end up being longer than you think! Both of my RS dolls had their face ups for years before I decided to change them, without any chips or damage. And when I did, they were the most difficult face ups I've ever removed! I'm not sure what they use for sealant but it works wonders.

And on that note, your girl's faceup looks especially lovely. They did a really great job.

 

@Winterglow It's truely amazing how putting different eyes in alone can make default faceups that much more beautiful. I like RS's default face as it is, and those eyes really make it pop! Are they glass, acrylic? Also, what color wig is she going to have?

 

@Winterglow, I love your new Ariel...I've always adored those ears! Her faceup is lovely, and from experience I can tell you that those company faceups are by far the most difficult to remove...so with normal care, you can probably count on her's lasting like...practically forever!

@harinthica The eyes are polymer resin. Up close they look like they have gold leaf in them! I'm not sure on the wig... I'm thinking blond for now? The eyes are 'blonde bombshell' eyes after all!

And yeah, I got her for her ears!

 

@ekses - thank you so much for taking the time to explain how to do it for me! Seems a little intimidating for some odd reason, but I'm going to find some eyes to experiment on.

Congrats on your Ariel Winterglow! Those ears are so cute. I've been wanting an Ariel boy for awhile, and now I am reminded why!

 

Would low dome eyes fit him better..? If so, is there a good place to get them (I don't have a preference between acrylic or glass)? >.<
I've also heard something about soft silicone eyes? I haven't seen any around though. :/

I have an RS Tang head in a light tan skin tone. ^-^ He's not on the double jointed body, though. If you don't mind the coffee skin tone, I could post some pictures.

 

@Celestine Low dome eyes are definitely a better fit for RS dolls, and a lot of eye places offer you an option of dome height. The soft eyes may be the masterpiece soft glass eyes, which are supposed to be really lovely. A quick Google of their name will pull up their website, where they sell their eyes direct.

Edit: Another option is eyeco soft glass eyes.

 

Low dome eyes are definitely a must for these dolls. I'd look for soft glass/silicone eyes or urethane eyes. Silicone eyes have the benefit of being on the less pricey side. My Yao has eyeco eyes and my Rong has very low dome taxidermy eyes

She looks beautiful @Winterglow ! Oooh I love CandyKitten eyes, my Tripp has eyes by her as well and they have such great shimmer and depth! Can't wait to see her with her wig!
@Celestine Low dome eyes are very nice, I have them in all my dolls and Tripp's eyewells were so maddening I wound up modding them with both a dremel and apoxie sculpt! She has hard eyes though and as has been mentioned, squishy ones should help.

guys i finally got my resinsoul Mei in. Shes been in since January but i finally got to take a good pic of her. Anyone know where to get clothes to fit these guys? My poor girl is needing some well fitting clothes and not barrowed ones. Also wigs. I am trying to make one but I really want to buy her one too.

Hey everyone! I think I have been bitten by the RS bug! Can everyone show me their boys? Please tell me the sculpt name too. I really want a Tang boy for sure but I would love to see a bunch more sculpts and how they look all dressed up. Does anyone know if RS does body blushing on the human dolls and if so how much it costs?

I was quite selfish and treated myself to a RS Song for my birthday. I've been daydreaming about him for a while and finally took the plunge. I'm moving soon and didn't want to worry about waiting for him to ship so I ordered from Junky Spot. I wasn't suppose to buy anything until after the move, but a girl needs her dolls. I'm so excited that he'll be here soon. However, I don't have anything for him. He'll be wearing clothes that belong to my minifee and that one wig every new doll has to try out. I really hope I have some eyes that will look decent until I can take a dremel to his eyewells and buy his proper eyes. I'm still settling on a name but so far Faderial is looking like a winner. He'll likely be called Fade for short. I can't wait to see those ears in person! He's my first "fantasy" doll and I'm just too excited for him to be a here.

@Celestine I would love to see your coffee skin doll. Does that color look just like a suntan on a European skintone? How dark is it really?

I think the girls fit in the same size clothes as minifees, right? I've only seen a few comparison pics, so that's what I'm basing that on.
@Queennova201 , congrats on your new girl. When you find out if that's true, can you let me know?

I also have a question for the experienced RS owners. Is the bust piece for the Rong body and the Mei body interchangeable? I ask because I think the smaller bust is better for me, but the double joint Rong body might have some posing advantages. Does anyone have both body types and can set me straight??? Thanks in advance!

He still has the company faceup, as I haven't really had time to give him one myself (and I need to find him some better fitting eyes).

@mollym I posted some pics of the heads above. I'd say the first and the third are the best representations of the skin tone (taken using full spectrum lighting). I'd say that it resembles olive skin-- it looks a tad harsh in the photos, but it's pretty nice in person. ^^

 

@Celestine Thanks!!!!!! Your doll looks cool, but I'm sure you're eager to give him your own personal touch. What sort of eyes are you planning??? I think the resin color is really nice, so I'll day dream of that color when I finally make the commitment to get a Mei. She's not at the top of the list, but getting close.

Oh, and I found some good comparison pics of the girl bodies here. I've been looking at the photos in post #38 of the Resin Comparison thread. It looks like nothing on the two bodies would switch out easily. Oh well! I have plenty of time to brood over that.

 

@mollym No problem~

Mei is probably my favorite RS sculpt (at least, of the girls). ^-^ Her sculpt is really versatile when it comes to faceups. (Side note: I actually saw a picture of a blue Mei someone had turned into one of the aliens from James Cameron's avatar-- it was pretty amazing.) I've seen a couple of tan Mei's floating around-- they're really lovely.

As for Tang(yet to be named)'s eyes, I'm thinking of buying a light blue or green pair. I like the hazel, but I feel like opting for something with a bit more color (especially since the wig I'm getting is going to be black).

 

I believe Lan is on a small busted double-jointed body?

@Celestine Hazel is very lovely, but you can't go wrong with green and blue would be quite a contrast with his complexion. Any of those will look great with black hair. I look forward to seeing his final look come together.

@Girrl Oh, how did I miss that????? Thank you! I had to go back to the site to check out the body pics. The contrast isn't that great in the site's pics. Her elbows look double jointed, but I can't tell about the knees. Do you own her???

Does anyone own Lan? If so, can they show some pics of her double joints???

 

My Song arrived today! I'm really happy with him. He's so beautiful, and the eyes he arrived with are lilac! I can't believe how beautiful they are. I think I'm going to keep them in. Only one of his eyewells need to be fixed. The other is perfectly fine. I found a wig that suits him and needs just a bit of styling. I'm relieved I don't need to buy him one. It's to dark for photos now, but will definitely post some tomorrow!

 

I don't own Lan, but I came across that info while researching for another doll project. I can't remember if it was from Resin Soul directly or someone on DoA

 

I have a Lan and her default body is the single jointed body- the same as Mei and Ju. But I know it's very easy to switch bodies through Resinsoul directly if you are interested in the Li body, which is the small busted double joint I think.

 

Here's a little update on my Bobobie Ariel, Bretta.

One week in, and she's got a wig! Alas, I totally messed up the parting (turns out synthetic hair used in extensions is too thick to properly bend over in a parting... Who knew!!)

Thus, I crocheted a Bobobie Ariel-specific slouch hat with ear holes. The actual placement of the holes didn't quite work (the front of the hat is too wide, so the holes sort of stretch out behind her ears instead of her ears sitting centrally... And you can't see my hard-core crochet button hole skills I slaved over for ages to get right), but never the less she has a hat she can wear on her head.

Here she is wearing a skirt and fox sweater from AtelierLilley on Etsy, and an old boat bracelet for a fetching necklace!

Edit: I just realised that for the time being, all photos of my bjd will be with the same chair and angle... We only have one reasonable source of light here, the balcony door. And you and only really sort of do this angle!! I'm gonna have to wait to visit my mum to get more varied pictures...

 

@hyssop Thank you for that info. Yes, on the site it says that the Li body is the 'immature' version of Rong's body. It makes sense as I can tell the torsos are 3 pieces vs. Mei having a 2 piece torso. Now, I am curious about the body in the pic for Lan.... because in the photo the elbows look double jointed........

@Winterglow Bretta looks great! I love the fox top and her skirt is the cutest pattern! Good job on her hat. That's neat how you made holes for her ears. Her eyes and hair compliment each other nicely. Pretty!!!

Ok, So I need some help... My son bought Val (Now goes by Lan O.o) But while talking to him about new Val and how I wanted to use Lan to figure out how to do his faceup... My son reminded me that I can buy any head with any ears... So I need to know (because it's been so damn long!) Tang and Sui are different yes?

I also need:
Tang spam, faceupless if possible
An spam... Same deal
Han spam... You get the idea...

And if anyone has any of these three and a Ju that they can take picks of next to one of these that would be super awesome so I can compare... T_T Thanks!

Edit~ wow... is it really that dead in here? Either way, I emailed Sun and he confirmed that tang and sui are not the same face, just very similar.

Shipping depends on weigh, so if you buy small items/parts/a head only it will be less shipping.

A single doll about $26 two dolls about $38 - I bought one doll before and recently i asked how much shipping would be for two.

She is very lovely! Those are lips are just amazing. I didnt really want a purple doll until I saw a purple Song on google and decided I would shell a Moon elf character.
