Resinsoul Ai (Hooved Doll) Discussion

Soooo tempted! I still have my Angelsdoll Jin naked, hairless and eyeless (I did give her a faceup yesterday), and two CH tinies on order, so I shouldn't even be thinking about it... but I love Ai's face best, and Romana loves Dan's, and the temptation to get a NS Ai and gray Dan on Ai body is growing and growing.

Ai's face is looking more and more Dragondoll-y to me, and I do love Dragon dolls. Something about the eye shape.

 

Oh, I asked them how much it costed to buy just the hooves and Sun told me $80 ^_^

 

I ordered one at 4pm this morning and to hell with the bank account!


I want some Brighnasa deer antlers for her as I think she is a deer/foresty sprite thingy... I liked the boy but he has the most ridiculous ears!!! it looks like he was hung up by them and they stretched!
I would love a soom doll but it will probably never happen because of the cost so thanks to the lovely people at Resinsoul for this gorgeous sculpt.

I can't wait for her to arrive, should come in time for my birthday in February!yay!

 

Oh, cool! I might have to wait a couple of months, my Ai was sort of a splurge. If I like how the hoof legs work, I might get my Dan some.
I love Mu's face, and I even wanted to get his head on Ai's body, but his head is bigger, it turns out. I was going to sand those ears way down, though.
I think Ai would look fabulous in deer antlers. My mom's always teasing me about how my Dan is a girl and therefore shouldn't have ram horns, but I think magical-being-ness totally trumps gender.

 

I wonder if the hooves would fit a sprite or if they would have to be a Dan etc? they are probably too big.

 

There's no way they'd fit a mini. The legs are made for the 60cm bodies, so they'd be way too big for an MSD body. The hooves by themselves, though, might fit with modification.

Aaagh, I want my Ai now! I have big plans for it. I might have to get white skin and dye it red, though, instead of just buying red resin, as it's a project doll that's going to be subjected to a bit of sanding and carving and drilling.

 

Is it possible to buy the normal legs separately? I'm assuming they don't come with the doll.

 

Hobbysue, I know someone got an Ai head on a normal body. I bet you could buy just the legs if you emailed Resinsoul.
Hominivorax, the red is cast in--it's not a coating. So I'm pretty sure you can heavily mod a colored one and it will look fine--though someone told me the dark colors do scratch a bit more easily.

 

Yeah, I know, but I'm thinking that sanding might still lighten the colour more noticeably than sanding lighter colours would do. I also want a more intense red than the brick colour, though I do quite like it, so I figure that dyeing it after I finish the mods would probably be best. I'd hate to pay the extra for coloured resin and then ruin it with sanding.

 

If you sand the darker resins they seem a lot lighter but if you then polish them using a jewellers paste or some nail buffing compound then you can restore the colour. it is the fine scratches in the surface that make it look whiter so if you keep going finer and finer and then use a buffing thing you will get rid of the whiteness.

I had this on a tan doll.

I want my Ai as well....I am the least patient woman on the planet and I am trying not to think about her too much.

I also have to wait to see if I can get some antlers as they are not in sotck either...ugh!

I do keep looking at the website tho' as she is just fab.

Please put up the pics when the girls get home it will be almost like getting my own.

The legs are availlable separately and if you check her listing for Ai you can see them there withthe price in $US. I'm considering getting the legs as well. If you're wanting to get in on her current order with the current discounted price she's putting the next one through on the 13th ... I know as I have a blue Ai with white horns on preorder. Great saving on shipping if you buy from her too...I paid just $10 AU for courier for my Song & Mei at the end of last year when they arrived in the country.

im planning to order the new ai. shes so pretty! does anyone happen to know if her body is double-jointed? and her circumferences by any chance? i cant find any info on the resinsoul site also hows the poseability and the seams? are any issues known with resinsoul? i know its a cheaper company so im wondering

 

I have a couple of RS dolls, though not a girl in this size. Poseability isn't bad once you restring (and an RS doll is GOING to need a restringing since they ship them loose). RS dolls do not have seams as they are sanded before they're shipped. The resin isn't quite the quality of some more expensive companies, but is still good quality, though lighter weight than some others.

 

thats..bad. i just got my first bjd and im a newbie so restringing is a no no for me right now..

 

Eh, tightening will work then. I did that with my last boy. You'll be able to just pull the elastic in the head up and tie a new knot.

I don't think she does. I know that the 61 cm and 70cm boy bodies are, and that the 68cm girl body has double jointed knees, but I don't believe that the 58cm girl body does.

could anyone maybe post pictures of an ai or another 58cm resinsoul girl doing difficult poses and showing to what extent they can hold poses and stuff? i read some bad reviews and im kinda worried now and not sure anymore if i really want a resinsoul ai or should better buy a doll-love leon..

 

That they're not double jointed doesn't really make them pose any less. Plus there's a ton of ways to make them hold poses. Sueding, wiring, restinging. You can let someone else do this all.

 

thats true. im a newbie and dont know much yet. i just thought that single-jointed bodies are less flexible and cant cross their legs when sitting on a chair and stuff like that..and im very uncomfortable about sending my doll off >_<

 

They can cross their legs, it just makes the joint pop out, which isn't a bad thing. And maybe you can find someone near you that can help you out.

 

hm i dont want to ask for too much..but would you happen to have a pic of the joint popping out?

If it's Ai's head you're interested in, you could go for a hybrid of course. You could just buy the head and find a body that you like to match.

 

i also love her hooves >_< but she seems to be a lot thinner than other girls..i bought a dress from angell-studio and stockings from dollmore..do you think they would fit her or would they be too big? i also bought shoes but i guess those my boy can wear if i really end up buying ai lol a girl with hooves and horns has always been my dream, but i cant afford soom, so when i saw ai it was love at first sight..before i was sure about buying doll-love leon with a girls body because i really like the catears he/she has, i also like the doll-love bodies a lot...but im just not sure anymore

 

Do you have any idea which wig sizes and brands would fit her nicely? I'm assuming she has the same head size as Dai, so maybe someone who owns Dai could answer?...

 

Dai and Dan wear an 8-9 in JpopDolls wigs. The wig my Dan normally wears is a JpopDolls Kanalong in 7-8, but it was stretched out already, and sometimes pops off (the horns help keep it on). She can also wear Anji's Wig Design wigs in 8 1/2, and Beachgirlnikita fur wigs in 8-9. Those are the only brands I've tried on her so far. Her head is exactly 8" around, and sort of tall--wigs with a deep cap would fit best.

I had my tracking number today so she should be here in a week aaaaahhhh.... I am so excited and she is just intime for my birthday woohoo.

Mine is NS but she is going to be a winter deer spirit thingy with resin antlers(came this week) and wild white hair and clothes etc.

We need more spam please from those who have their girls...

 

For those of you who have your Ais, how well does she stand up? Those hooves, from the company photos, don't look very sturdy.

 

In all the box openings I've seen, she stands just fine with her knees locked. I don't think she can crouch in that cool way Sooms can, though. And she has some trouble sitting on hard surfaces due to her leg fur. I shall check these things myself when my Ai arrives, hopefully soon (she got to US customs today).

 

finally given in!!! After falling in love with a green colour resin bobobie sprite I saw, and the would love to have a hooved bjd one day on my mind Ai is on order!! (as of end of jan)
I am at the moment in the throws of packing up to move house and thankfully a wonderful seller named Carol of Angelesque in the UK said she would take my order and send to my new address when Ai came through. Thank you Carol if you are reading this!!!!
I was over the moon as I really kept thinking about Ai and how much Id love to have a green resin bjd so it made sense to combine my two wishes. I have decided that I will try and make Ai into a woodland sprite (things never go to plan!!) , the horns Im unsure of as they are nice but would my antlers look better on her or will she be great with just her beautiful pixie ears!!! Time will tell Im just happy to know she is on order!!

She came in just four days!!!

She stands fine on those hooves, they are smaller than soom but not as tiny as they look in the pics.

OMG she is beautiful. I think her hooves look like giraffe feet all soft and elegant. They are plenty big enough now I have started to paint them!!!!!

I'll put up some spam pics when she is a bit more painted. Mine has ellow eyes!

Perhaps the measurement is the same as the normal 61cm RS body?

 

Here's a pic of my lilac Ai--she still needs a faceup. Demented Pea--I agree, her feet are like giraffe feet. I really love the size of them--about as big around as a silver dollar, I'd say. She stands up just fine--she's slightly easier to balance than my RS Dan, who has human feet. The lilac resin is very nice in person--a smoky lavender-gray. I totally want to see her in other colors--I know there will be blue and green ones up soon. Aren't the Bobobie/Resinsoul colored resins cool?

 

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I couldn't find measurements on either Resinsoul's site or Bobobie's and neck size hasn't been listed in the spreadsheets yet....oh well, it's just a thought.

Here's an overdue shot of my Ai, Audra. She has a faceup by me, her eyes are acrylic Schwartzaugens from the Marketplace, and her wig is a JpopDolls Kana in Moon.


Ai is such a cool sculpt; I'm really glad I got her. I love her pouty mouth, and the hooves are so great. She stands and poses well, and she has very graceful hands. And the lilac resin is amazing.

Ai has officially been entered my boyfriend's and mine joint-purchase wish list. We both love her quite a bit Just have to decide if she comes before or after the tiny I want, and see what comes out/we discover between now and having money.

I find it interesting that people are bothered by the fur on her thigh for aesthetic rather than posing reasons... I'm used to fantasy hybrids having fur on all of their animal parts (if they are mammal hybrids, at least), and would probably blush her to look like she was all fur from the waist down (though in a similar color to the "human" part of her body). Then again, I understand the appeal of smoothness on women, especially when it comes to legs, so I'm not trying to be judgmental of those who don't like it, it's just what I'm used to in fantasy so I find it normal.

Anyways... in the gallery and box openings, I haven't seen her doing much other than standing or sitting/reclining... how well does she pose otherwise? Pics or descriptions would be very appreciated Especially, is it possible for her to kneel from the lower leg joint (so her hooves are facing forward). It'll probably look awkward, but it's how the satyrs and fawns in one of my fantasy worlds kneel so I'd like to know if she can

Your green Ai is beautiful! I'm curious, are the colors in that photo pretty close to real life? Your Ai is more of a pale jade green, and all the green Bobobies I've seen have been more apple-green. I wonder if RS uses a different green resin, or if they've changed it recently.

i would say take the skin colour in the first photo add little bit more deeper and brighter than the photo shows but still very minty green yes almost jade green on the whole. I would say she is very close to a deep mint choc chip ice cream green in real life!!! if that makes sense.
i tried to get the contrast of white to keep her looking fresh as the green is really a fresh green. Im not sure about bobobies green as i only own resin soul green in a msd and now ai. i wouldnt say mine are apple green as they are more vibrant mint green but i have not seen bobobies colour.
its a very fresh colour, i wasnt too sure about it when i first saw them in a photo but now after seeing them in resin i really love the colour. i have just ordered a mu in red to go with her!!!!
i will try and capture the resin better with my camera when i find it!!! that way you can see her true colour.
i moved in feb (2nd time in 7 months) and i still cant find everything. i ended up with a massive task of clearing the house and garden as the previous owner was less than lets say man of is word and left me a huge mess of old furniture and clutter to clear so its really knocked me for getting settled. i love the house but there is so much to do. the garden on the surface did look ok until i got to look close and there were brambles and roses over 8ft tall mixed up in trees which had to be cleared. after now having 6 skips and just starting on the 7th the garden is looking great and i have gained back over 10ft of garden!!! and can walk down my passage way to get out too! lol in the house i have cleared his old junk -old broken furniture he didnt take - and its all starting to take shape as im now starting to unpack my things between the re-landscaping of the back garden. ive opted for a japanense theme mixed with victorian gothic style for the garden and will be all done by summer ready to enjoy then im going to start on the inside of the house getting it really perfect!! so lots of hard work to do lol please bear with me and i will get photos on here soon as possible xx

 

I just found ResinSoul Ai and I lovelovelove those legs. I'm not sure about the head tho. Are there any resin comparison threads for RS and other companies?

Try doing a search for Bobobie resin match. There's a lot of threads, from memory, and Bobobie and ResinSoul resin is identical, so anything that matches BBB will work. Bear in mind that newer batches of NS are pinker and less yellow than older. Otherwise, you can substitute any 60cm BBB or RS head - my wife occasionally talks of plans for Dan on Ai's body.

 

Thank you for the info, autumnrain. I'm actually thinking of a Dan head instead, I love those ears better. I'm also pondering a hybrid with the head from another company entirely.
