Resin Rose BJD Expo: year 5 (August 16-18th)

Sep 15, 2018

    1. One week away! I am so excited!

Do we know how large the swap tables are?

    2. I am finishing my faceup, prop, and costume entry as we speak. Procrastination for the win

    3. I remember them being fairly substantial definitely not the 6ft that the vendor tables are. I'd say probably somewhere around 4 feet?

    4. I found it. The application says the tables are 6’x30”.

    5. Yes, that is the size of the tables :)

    6. I didn't have a choice about my procrastination for my costume entry : ( I only hope it will be done in time, I need to leave Thursday and stay at a hotel near the airport because my plane leaves so early on Friday.

    7. Today, after work, is doll packing day! And wrapping up my photo set props.

    8. So excited about this convention. This is my third year of attending, at least, and it is the convention to attend! We are so lucky to have people like Glyndon and MysteryAya and their crew to organize these meets for us. They outdo themselves every year.

So stoked about the Dollshe meetup! They were the first guys to make me resin guy believers! Looking forward to meeting everyone at the convention!

    9. *blush*

    10. I'm starting to get excited, but I'm in no way prepared yet. ^^; Does anyone know if there's possibility to buy tickets to the banquet the day of, just in case someone doesn't show and there are extra seats? I know it's sold out as of now but i thought I'd check, my friend and I didn't think we'd be driving down on Friday so we didn't know we'd be able to make it when we bought tickets.
I don't know exactly which dolls to bring yet but I'm thinking of some of my SDs and maybe my hound for the meet though he's not on a Dollshe body. My Edria and Midi Reisner are probably coming as well.

    11. @reaperofleaves Unfortunately, no, you can't get a dinner pass at the door. There's no way to know if someone won't show (or is just running late) until after the party is over. I really wish there was, but logistics are against me on that one.

Even so, there are a lot of things going on in the area to keep one occupied. There are loads of restaurants, a movie theater, even a Michael's craft store, all in easy reach of the venue. I am sure there is more, but I kind of get stuck at Michael's and never get much farther.

I have a fun fact, now that I am thinking of it! Next weekend, a full 1/3 of the bookings at the hotel are accredited to us. That blows my mind! If I pass someone in the hall, there will be a one in three chance that we have dolls in common, even if we don't recognize each other. (Though the convention badge and arms full of resin are a bit of a give-away.)

    12. That's fair, I just thought I might ask just in case. I know some people had been trying to sell their tickets but that was a while ago now.
If there's a Joann's I'd hit that up, Micheals we have in Canada as well, but I'm sure there will be things to do yes.

Well if anyone who isn't going to the dinner wants to meet up with other BJD people we may go to Olive Garden or somewhere close for dinner.

    13. There’s a Hobby Lobby close by as well

    14. Mom will most definitely not show : (
They just took the iv off her today, but she's still not supposed to be up and moving around the house, let alone getting on a plane and flying across the country. Unsure if she emailed to cancel her swap table, I've been reminding her to do that, but no idea if she has.

    15. I have not received an email about canceling a swap table

    16. Bleh, really? Was she still thinking she'd somehow be better?

    17. It starts tomorrow.
      It starts tomorrow.
      I don't feel ready.

    18. Hey everyone there's a proud boys protest scheduled downtown Portland on Saturday. They're going to be around the waterfront and pioneer square, and there will almost definitely be counter protests. The last rally caused all the max stops in the area to be closed, and the organizers explicitly told them to bring guns and ammo. Please don't engage, be alert and be safe!

If you're trip to the expo is going to include downtown on Saturday, I recommend finding a different route/different places to go. Please spread the word!
