Resin Rose BJD Expo: year 5 (August 16-18th)

It’s too early for me to commit to the room and badge, but my head is already back in Clackamas! I have a ghost girl who I’d love to enter into a costume contest to make her more spooky right now most of her ghostly appearance is just from her white resin. Need to amp up the haunted theme!! If I can’t work in a costume entry I’ll at least augment her current wardrobe to make her more eerie for attending. I’m thinking a lot of fun distressing fabric?

 

Vendor Tables are going fast. We only have 7 left.

We are contracted to get 32 tables for vendors from the hotel (not including the staff vendor tables, registration, RR Tables and raffle tables). This is what we have had for the last 2 years at the Monarch.

We are going to work to try and secure more tables from the hotel if we run out but we are unsure at this time if we will be able to and how many we will be able to get.

WAITING LIST INFORMATION-
Resin Rose BJD Expo has sold out of our original tables. We added more and sold out of those too. We are able to get a small amount more of tables and once those are gone, that is all we can get due to space and table availability from the hotel.
We have opened up a waiting list. Waiting list is first come, first serve. You can request more than one table, however, we may not be able to grant more than one table depending on how many vendors sign up. Vendors will be contacted on January 15th about their tables. If you are able to get a table, payment will not be due until January 15th. You are still eligible for the layaway program. We need 25% down on January 15th if you get a table.

Same here! I got my pass, my room, and my vacation time scheduled. I’d better what dolls to bring now because I’m always doing that last minute.

Right now I'm waiting on pretty much all of my dolls to be ready. The only one I have that is completed is one I was going to leave at home.

It's hard to prepare your resin children when they don't have heads currently. :/

This will be my first con so I'm not exactly sure what I should bring in terms of quantity. Like what I can handle.

@hannaliten I feel that so hard. And we are still far enough out you can buy and receive before the event happens for a large portion of companies.

 

I don’t know yet! And right now it’s peak season at my job so I’m too exhausted to even think about dolls. But I’ll probably only bring a few SD and larger this year.

 

Is anyone potentially looking to split a hotel room? I'd love to stay at the Monarch but it's a bit pricey for me on my own.

 

Last year was my first time to attend, and it was super fun!! The hotel is very nice. I enjoyed the panels I attended, and the swap sale was so much fun!! I sold more than I expected. Vendor room was great, and the contests and photo setups were impressive. Looking forward to this year!!

If you want, you can drop by the post office and ship stuff back to your house.

 

I live up the road from the Con, and I’m interested but my attendance is dependent on whether I can take those days off of work.

 

Husband and I will be there!!! I'm so excited! We didn't get to attend last year, which was sad, but now we're going for our second year! Will be attending all three days and have my own swap table. I don't want to wish the year away of course, but I soooooo wish it were closer!

Question: will there be a freebie table again like there was a couple years ago? I have a lot of stuff I'm hoping to sell at the swap meet, but if not I'd love to just leave behind a few goodies to make my flight home a little lighter

 

We did have a free table at the swap and I believe we had one on Sunday too.

Sorry if I overlooked this information elsewhere, but are we allowed to sell handcrafted items at the swap meet? Or are we required to sign up as a vendor? I am working on perfecting my technique on my items and don't feel comfortable selling them as a vendor just yet and would like to see how they sell on discount at the swap meet, but I don't want to be breaking any rules. I do admit, knowing there are still 9 vendor spaces left makes me wish I could take that leap!

 

You can sell whatever you want at the swap as long as it is BJD related and not a recast item If you do decide you want a vendor table, just let me know!

You can now host a themed meet up for a specific doll sculpt/company, type of doll (Calling all elf dolls!) or just a general meet up? We're opening up the smaller class room for those wishing to utilize the space on both Saturday and Sunday.

I'm wanting to go and have never been. I will be bringing 2 human family members and 3 resin family members. I just need to know if we come for one day what would be the best day and can we pay upon arrival? Is there a fee for a 7 yr old? Do I have to register if I'm only going for one day? Sorry for all the questions.

 

Saturday is our busiest day but if you want to participate in the paid raffles, then you have to be there in person to claim your prize at the closing ceremony.

To anyone going to the convention that will have a vendor table or wants one but hasn't got one yet -- would you want to split one? I have some things to sell but not enough for a full table on my own (plus I will be volunteering at the con and won't be able to stay at the table all day). I will of course pay my part of it and more if you are comfortable watching/selling my items while I am working there. Just send me a message!

 

I just saw the post about Luts attending! I'm really excited about it! I hope there will be some kind of panel or meet and greet for them. I was super sad I missed out on PNW BJD Expo's meet and greet.

 

Super excited about Luts! I hope they bring clothing/wigs/etc to sell. At PNW they only brought dolls, I wish they would have brought more smaller items.

Table sizes and pricing:
The 2019 Resin Rose BJD Expo is offering standard table sizes and a few upgrade options, as well as vendor table sharing packages. There is set up on Friday for all vendors. To keep table pricing low, we've made the Friday night banquet celebration optional for vendors and it is an extra cost to attend. There is a $10 discount for returning 2018 Resin Rose BJD Expo Vendors.
Along with various panels, the vendor hall will be open both Saturday and Sunday August 17th and 18th.

6’ x 30" Full size table - $173. Includes Friday set up and Two 2-day passes (limit 2 seats per table) -
Extra Table - $50 (no additional passes)

Donation/Sponsorships

Resin Rose BJD Expo is seeking donations from people and shops for raffle, door, and contest prizes. Businesses that donate may also send us business cards, ephemera, and other items to help promote their stores to be included in goodie bags and at the door for attendees.

Donations are used for door prizes and our raffle, a portion of proceeds from the raffle goes towards the charity sponsor of the year- Oregon Feral Cat Coalition. The other part goes towards supporting the next year of Resin Rose. Raffles are a great way to support our event.

Hotel Room Block Information

Rooms are selling out fast. Last we heard we only had a few left for Friday and Saturday.

2019 Room rates - plus a 7.8% room tax
Singles / double rooms will be $139

All of the rooms have refrigerators.

We have to fill a minimum number of rooms per our contract with the hotel, So please reserve your room with the block link available. The room block rates will be available three days before and three days after the show based on space availability. If the room block sells out fast, we will work with the hotel to try and secure more rooms. Reservations must be received the cut off date of July 10, 2019 to count for the group rate.

Is anyone else super psyched that Luts will be there? My newest doll is a Luts that just came in and he's just so lovely. I'm really thrilled that they're coming all this way to have a meet & greet too especially since they were already out here so recently for another doll convention.

 

I am! My first doll was from Luts (well, they were still with Cerberus Project at the time), and I still love them as a company I really hope I'll have the opportunity and nerve to tell them how much I appreciate their contributions to the hobby without getting too tongue-tied!

 

Is anyone else frantically trying to finish their costume contest entry? My mother was in the hospital for a week at the beginning of the summer, and all of my extra time has been spent helping take care of her, and now I have no idea if my entry will be ready in time!

Not even close to ready. It occurred to me just yesterday that I should probably start getting the whole crew dressed and packed like... now. I still have a couple that I'm hoping will have faces before we go, but I gotta wait in the commission queue even if I'm the wife of the artist hahaha.

 

I have all my swap stuff packed and ready and I still have 2 faceups to do. It’s not happening until this heat is gone, though.

 

I can't believe we're a week away I'm very nervous/excited, and need to get my butt in gear in figuring who I'm bringing and getting everything ready for the swap! My husband wants me to bring one of my larger dolls, but that's so stressful to fly with, so I'm on the fence. Anyone else flying with a 60Cm+ doll?

 

I will be! I have a wheeling suitcase that is just big enough to hold a doll with an afghan wrapped around it to keep it from being jostled.
