Raccoon Doll Discussion - Part 5

Mar 27, 2019

    1. I think it's great Raccoon Doll is branching out into Fantasy! Now if they only released a guy who looks even only remotely like Carlos Olivera from the Resident Evil movies ...

    2. I'm thankful I don't collect centaurs or I'd be bemoaning my lack of money. The ordinary dolls take up enough room as it is.

Julia arrived today after two weeks of being queued for shipment. I'm surprised to see she came with the original tiny hands and feet. I thought the newer hands and feet were standard now. Guess I should have specified which ones I wanted. I haven't taken photos yet. I'm not sure how I like the Monique wig I ordered for her so I want to see if she looks better in any of my other colors or styles.

    3. I have been unforgiveably absent from this discussion for the longest time, but I just swooped by the thread to check if people had seen the centaur preview and go: :o:o:o
I don't collect centaur dolls, but I'm always impressed when I see them!

    4. After trying wigs and taking photos, I've decided I like the wig I bought for Julia the best, so here she is:

    5. She's lovely @vermont chick Congratulations!

@Evey Love the face up on your Daisy and the close up photo of her.

@Khell The jacket looks great on her :)

    6. Wowzers, the Centaur Girls are fully up now and ready to roll.. I mean Buy Buy Buy!! If I had any money money money that is :sigh

Vermont Chick your Julia is a stunner! Is she normal skin? She looks like a top model, and her outfit is tdf - I am guessing you made that, as I am in awe of your beautiful creations!! Is it worth checking with Raccoon about the hands they sent?

    7. Julia looks awesome! The wig looks great on her, and I love the top! The perfect look for a day at the beach.

    8. Congrats on your Julia @vermont chick !
I see the Centaur's are up along with a new sculpt, Elf Lea. A new resin color is available for her too, mint.
I like her a lot. Glad they offer her on the normal body as well as the centaur body.

    9. New elf Lea is gorgeous! I love that they added another fantasy skin tone too- mint green looks great! And the option to add any head on the centaur was a good thought too. The outfit works well for both centaur and human form too which I like. Bunch of new wig options too! Raccoondoll really went all out with this release. Hope someone gets elf Lea or a mint green gal for me to oogle!!

    10. They really did go all out for this centaur. I like her a lot too and she's not quite as pricey as I was expecting.

@vermont chick Your Julia looks awesome!

    11. Well spotted skyealloway about mint green now being an option for all the girls! I didn't realise that.
I am loving Elf Lea's faceup B, it's so unusual and she could be like an exotic deity?.. aaargh so tempting..

Okay guys, I think this will be my last question for the day... Can anyone please tell me if Raccoon normal skin photographs well with Milk Mocha skin? I already have a normal skin girl and am now seriously thinking I will go ahead and take the plunge for a Milk Mocha, but don't know if the normal skin would flash bright white with the contrast? I would like them both to be sisters, but one will be a bit more 'outdoorsy', ie the milk mocha one. Or go the other way and get a white skinned girl maybe??

    12. Thanks! Yes, she is normal skin, my first since the first two Raccoon girls came out. I crocheted her top and bag. The pants, which you can't see in the above pic but I'll show below my comments here, were made by a friend. I would have contacted Raccoon about the hands except that on looking at Julia's listing again I see the old hands used in the sale photos. It's my fault for not noticing that earlier, so I'll bite the bullet and order a pair of the new hands.

      @LyanneNZ, @Khell, @JinCIncy, @Patrice S - Many thanks!

If only I had money at my disposal, Elf Lea would be a contender. I may not be into horses (incl. centaurs) but I do love me some elves! Lea is a cutie.

@LilyAndRuby - If you look back at the first post in this thread, I have a photo of sweet mocha, milk mocha and normal girls together. How white the normal looks depends on a combination of things: your lighting, costumes and background, as well as the other skin colors in the photo. When all else fails, Photoshop!

And here's the rest of Julia's outfit, as well as a different wig:

    13. they released the centauer body of my dreams but why canยดt we choose breast size and colours?

    14. I have just looked and all the colour options and breast size come up for me.

    15. hmm it didnยดt for me yesterday

    16. I just checked and it's working fine for me.

@LilyAndRuby The normal resin photographs well with milk mocha. The Daisy on the right is normal and the two Daisies in the middle are both milk mocha.

    18. Finally, I won't be a lurker much longer. Ordered Elf Lucy in mint. somehow that turned up nose and the new skin color call out to me.
missed out on Elf Kai during the free ship, but this girl just has to come live here by the beach!
no faceup, so maybe not too long to wait.

    21. Pardon me for spamming Alice the way I have been but - yes, I'm really, really happy with how the outfit is coming together. Took some quick pics recently, and one turned out great but blurry, so I played with some filters. I call it "The last thing you see before you die" ... ;) (Yes, she needs guns. They're on the way from Australia.)

    22. Scarlet C, your Gene is gorgeous!!

Congrats on your order, petiteballerina, I am sure your Elf Lucy will be amazing, she is such a lovely sculpt isn't she, and that mint is a great colour! I'm so tempted to go for Lea in mint, but know I can't realistically afford her right now :doh

And Khell, I am so liking the film effect you have on Alice's pic. Great atmospheric shot (I'm a little bit respectful of your girl...)..

    23. @LilyAndRuby Thanks! To be honest - I'm glad she doesn't have her guns, yet. And once she does I think I better try not to annoy her ... ;)

    24. @Khell, She does look intense!

    25. @Khell - Whatever it is that Alice wants...give it to her. Quick!

    26. @vermont chick Absolutely. I guess before long I'll take that pic and turn it into one of those old, Wild West style "Wanted" posters - for a train robbery or something ... ;)

    27. Just letting people know that Raccoon added Elf Iris and Jungle Girl Iris to the choices for the basic centaur.

    28. @skyealloway - I'm not familiar with them, but I see some I'd like to get for other dolls. Too bad they don't have 6mm.

    29. Adding to the picture spam with Eleanor, my Mika hybrid (on Iplehouse JID body).

    31. Thank you! I made both, the necklace is from Iplehouse though.
Thank you <3 and probably. It's Echo's house after all. Pretty sure she keeps the stuff on hand.

    32. Anyone getting a centaur? Or an Elf Lea? I keep contemplating on the mint Elf Lea...โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ..
In the meantime, my Nana on an Iple FID slim body

    33. I ordered Elf Lea in white skin to go with my Kai.

    34. Hi everyone! I've decided to purchase Gene as my first MSD once I get the money. I just have a question about the resin color. I've been a bit stuck between milk mocha and sweet mocha. Mika at the Beach has the sweet mocha skin and it is the exact skin color I want based on the photos. Is the actual resin color accurate compared to the images? I've looked at owner images and the company images and it has been a bit hard to tell if milk mocha will be too light or if sweet mocha will be too dark for the girl I have in mind. Thanks for any help in advance! :)

    35. I just realised I never posted Fate, my Elf Iris here, now I've finally made her clothes and she's back from her face-up - so here she is!

The amazing face-up (which my terrible photography does not do justice) is by matahatas. The boots are Tonner Matt boots, the wig is an Iplehouse one, the eyes are Safrindoll, and the clothes are made by me! I was trying to go for steampunk but, eh... turned out more dieselpunk or goth I guess, lol! Oh well, at least she has clothes now.

    36. Ooooh, lovely lady! That coat! :D

    37. She looks terrific! And that coat is awesome.

    38. She looks amazing! Great work on the outfit--and I love the background.

    39. @Maechen Great choice over Gene! She was one of my first Raccoon Dolls and remains one of the best sculpts IMO. I have her in normal, milk mocha and sweet mocha, so I'm rather a fan! I don't have the capability to upload photos at the moment but the Raccoon Doll website photos of the mocha skin series in the Gallery & Blank Heads section are pretty representative of what the colours look like in real life. Depending on light conditions, the sweet mocha can sometimes look a bit darker in photos than in real life and the milk mocha can be a little washed out but both skin tones are lovely warm colours so I don't think you will be disappointed whatever you decide to get.

    40. I just ordered the basic centaur with the Jungle Girl Iris head. I ordered the centaur body in Dark Mocha and the human parts in Milk Mocha since my I have several Raccoons in Milk Mocha and can switch off her head that way.

      • x 3
    41. @Bluebell Forest Thanks for sharing that! It was very helpful and the two mocha colors are definitely pretty. :3nodding:

    42. Morganatron, your Elf Iris is amazing. I love her pale looks and colours you have chosen for her. Beautiful.

Congratulations Patrice S! That's a brilliant choice of Dark Mocha for the centaur body, and possibility of head swaps with your other girls. I am so looking forward to seeing them, but not quite as much as you are, I'm sure! The wait can be excrutiating can't it, but is also a major part of it all, what with the anticipation, wondering, excitement etc. Happy Waiting! :cheer

    43. Thanks LilyAndRuby. I'd been dithering over color and head choices since the centaur first came out but when Iris became an option I knew what head I wanted. It just took me another week to decide on the centaur color. I usually use that wait time to pick up things for a new doll.

    44. Just wanted to show off my own pieces of Peppermint Circus fashion. Alice recently got several tops and the most awesome corset and shrug that I commissioned from @morganatron - and I really, REALLY love how they look on Alice! :D Oh. Right. She also got gun. Desert Eagle in size 1:5. Let's just say - yup, she's happy. ;)

    45. Alice looks awesome in that corset and shrug. Congrats on finding her gun!

    46. So now that the ordering period for the centaurs and Lea are over, what do you think Raccoon Doll will tempt us with next? I'm really hoping for a re-release of all the elves and limiteds.

    47. For very selfish reasons, I'm hoping for a new guy with "Arabic" features ...

    48. I took some new pics of Koehlon today to post in his story on my blog, linked in my signature below. Just thought I'd share here as well. @Khell, I'm always up to see some new male sculpts! I'd love to see some more male elves! I love Kai.

    49. Well JinCincy and Khell, there's an exciting bit of info on the website banner today. A speial event with "many new dolls" for the 4th Anniversary!!! Eeeek! Four days to go until the event begins, 17th to 31st August.

JinCincy, Khoelon is looking supremely gorgeous on his walk through the forest, and I look forward to reading your blog!

    50. I'm not sure since it's such a short event it will include new dolls. I read that part of Raccoon's banner as a thank you for being able to release so many new dolls over the last four years. But we don't have that long to wait to find out what the event will be.

      And Khoelon is indeed gorgeous.

    51. Ooooh, events are always awesome! And there really IS some stuff I have to order from Raccoondoll, Alice needs more different hands, and they got that one gun, and the only place where I seem to be able to find plain black leggings is the Raccoon Doll website. *sigh* I'm really spoiling her rotten ... :P

    52. Thanks Patrice S, yes, I see now, they are saying they could release many new dolls because we have all been so keen on buying them! That is a lovely message, isn't it. My speed reading failed me while I was rushing my breakfast on my way out this morning, lol! Anyway, we can look forward to an event, that's for sure, can't we :thumbup

Yes Khell, I know what you mean about finding perfect accessories and supplies. And Alice deserves many treats of course!

JinCincy, I love your beautiful characters' backstories and how the story is unfolding. Looking forward to the next instalment.

    53. JinCincy, I love your beautiful characters' backstories and how the story is unfolding. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Thank you @LilyAndRuby! I'm really enjoying challenging myself a bit with the blog as I've never thought too much about writing my characters stories down. I don't consider myself a writer, but the stories kept swirling around in my head, so thought it might be fun to challenge myself to write them down to keep them straight.
Tonight's installment was about Nan, who has turned into a totally different character than the one I considered when I ordered her head.

    54. JinCincy oooh, shivers! I fell in love with your Nan the moment I saw her, and now I can see that her story is so true to her character, with lots of plant-loving strangeness (which suits me down to the ground!). What can the draw be between her and gorgeous Koehlon??

I enjoy blogs about our smaller bjds so much, and I am in awe of your wonderful story writing skills.

AsTheResinWorldTurns is on my fave blogs list too, though I'm not good with social technology and don't know how to actively follow or comment on them!

    55. @JinCIncy - Great blog! Your characters are intriguing and I can't wait to read more. I'm always envious of writers who create a world and people it with their dolls. My dolls tend to switch characters whenever I change their clothes, making them whomever and whatever I need them to be at any given moment.

@LilyAndRuby - I'm not into social media myself. I had help setting up my blog 10 years ago and keeping up with the changes Google occasionally makes to Blogger is about all I can manage. That said, it's easy to follow and comment on a blog. You'll need to sign onto Google, if you haven't already. The same sign-on gets you into G-mail and a bunch of other apps. When you find a blog you want to follow, go to the bottom of the page and click the blue button that says Follow. You'll be following publicly using your G-mail account name.

    56. Thank you @vermont chick ! I'm really having fun with it! It's challenging me in ways I've never really explored before. I've always enjoyed the photography aspect of the hobby, but have never done any writing. This group of characters has really inspired me to try my hand at the storytelling aspect as well. Thought the blog would be a good way to start and try and combine the two.
Taking some photos for an upcoming blog installment this morning and really liked this one of Sabia (Monica)
