I bought it on Monday and it arrived this morning! After weeks of languishing in her box I have rediscovered that something I saw in her when I first saw her promo photos :3nodding: I am so, SO glad I won't have to sell her after all. She just needs a name now!
      *is so happy right now*

    2. Lovely! She needs an elegant name! Where did you get the wig? I love the natural hair line!

    3. It's great that you found for her the right wig - she looks gorgeous, like true femme fatal :thumbup

      • x 1
    4. Emma looks fantastic in that wig, @Zaliayn! It's true that the right wig can make all the difference. Congrats on finding hers.

    5. @boudica @vermont chick @nancy_schroeder_ca Thank you all :D I had almost given up hope of finding the right wig. I'm so glad I decided to try one last time... although now I have a bunch of wigs that I'll probably never use! :XD: I bought Emma's wig from french dealer Fleurdelys and it's a Monique Gold "Pretty Girl" in light peach & white blonde.
You know I'm this close to buy Monique wigs for all my dolls; they're so lovely and soft! :whee:

    6. @Zaliayn This blonde wigs really compliments her fair skin and showcases her eyes. It gives her a sort of etheral beauty, in contrast with her dark lips, it works well!

    7. @Zaliayn I love Monique Gold wigs and Pretty Girl is one of my favorites.:D Other maker's wigs always feel so still and unnatural by comparison.

    8. @Phoenixflower383 sorry for the delay writing back :). You're welcome and I'm glad you enjoyed what I shared... Sometimes I worry that I share too much detail and that I end up being boring, lol. The RD girls I sold were Sarah and Lucy. I look forward hearing what you decide and if it is not an RD doll please feel free to send me a private message to share :).

@boudica sorry for the delay in writing back :). It really is nice to be able to share our hobby with family and friends. My family doesn't understand why I enjoy dolls but they are very supportive and help out. I used to not share anything about my hobby for fear others would think it's strange but fortunately my fears were totally unfounded :).
I'm looking forward to seeing Sarah :D

@Zaliayn oh yay Emma looks :aheartbea FABULOUS!!! I'm glad you found the right look for her and didn't sell after all. For some reason her picture conjures up the name Caroline. I look forward to hearing what name you give her.

General question for anyone. My house can get pretty hot and humid (up to 85 Fahrenheit) in the summer and the air conditioning is only run at night. is average summer heat ok or should I put the dolls in cool storage for the summer? Thanks for any thoughts or experiences :)

    9. @PennyDes For what it's worth, my house got up to 88 Farenheit yesterday and I don't have air conditioning. My dolls don't get any special treatment in the summer. The only casualties I've had over the years were two Iplehouse realskin BID's who turned pale and sort of greenish. (I lived in a condo then and their room faced south.) My dolls are in a west-facing room, so they don't get direct sunshine when the sun is at its highest. And when the late afternoon sun does reach them, I close the curtains.

    10. @Poulette @PennyDes Thanks both of you! Caroline is a pretty name, I'll add it to the Maybe list! It'll probably take a while to find the right name for her; it's always the last thing to come to me, and I think most of my dolls have had several name changes :XD:

@serenity279 Thank you, and the wig is a Monique Gold size 5-6 inch which fits Raccoon Dolls pretty perfectly :)

    11. @vermont chick Thank you for sharing :) It's nice to know none of your dolls have had any heat related issues :thumbup... Makes me feel safer about mine. I'm so sorry two of your dolls turned color on you from the sun  that must be upsetting. Is it terribly noticeable? The sun seems to be the biggest enemy of BJDs. I keep mine cloaked all day long. I hope at some point I will stop being so concerned about what might damage them and just enjoy them. I'm sure that will come to me with time and experience though ;).

      @serenity279 :) :thumbup

@Zaliayn You're welcome :). I can relate with you on doll naming... Sometimes the new name is right there but for the most part I go through many before landing on one that seems just right. Gene still has not been renamed after 6 months. Best of luck on deciding on Emma's new moniker :) and again I'm glad you found the right look.

    12. I found Raccoondolls some days ago, and I think that Emma would be pretty good doll for shelling an OC I have and whom I have wanted to shell sometime, but haven't found good sculpt.

So, I was wondering that how well the girls pose?

    13. @Zaliayn - Oh your Emma is striking! Congratulations! I'm so happy you found the right wigs for her to enchant you again! :)

    15. wow- Emma looks fab <3

    16. Beach theme Emma is really calling to me. I like the other two, also. And boy, could I use those bikinis! (My doll group has a beach theme meet-up next Saturday.) Alas, no money at the moment.

    17. I love the theme - I'm totally in a beach mood right now  The new faceups look great too. I could look at the photos for ages :D

      @luluna Thank you! :)

    18. Great theme! The bikinis are very cool and pretty!
I really like Emma's faceup too...

    19. I would go for Nina - if I did not have one at home already .
New hands ordered from Iple are almost at home - they are currently stuck at customs office, I am really curious about the ransom this time - I am prepared as I have counted the maximum amount I should most probably pay. We will see.

Anyone has new photos of their wonderful girls? I must admit I have done nothing with the dolls recently as I was busy at work and then I had bronchitis.

    20. I've pretty much ignored my girls while I dealt with new arrivals. I did buy some clothes from Nine9 that don't seem to fit anyone. The dress is too tight for my Raccoons but Mika is currently wearing the vest with a dress I made.

    21. @vermont chick - Gorgeous dress...your girl looks so pretty in it.

    22. Thanks @borxanne and @luluna. I made the dress some time ago for Gene, who is on the slim body, so I was surprised that it fit so well on Mika, who has the original body. I love that the vest picks up the dusty pink from the flowers.

    23. The new Summer Raccoon ladies remind me that I once made a bikini for a Tonner doll and surprisingly it doesnโ€™t look so ridiculous on my Gene :love .We feel like going to the seaside now ;)

    24. @Sylena - Ooh, the bikini looks great on Gene.:D Did you use a pattern? And if so, is it commercially available? I've been wanting to make bikinis for my girls once my crochet skills advance to a higher level.

    25. The dress looks perfect on your Mika.

      Gene looks lovely, great bikinis.

EDIT: I just received the hands from Iple, they look lovely even though the ransom was pretty high this time = 33 % of the price of the whole order (including shipping). I counted with the 28 % like it was last time, customs office is still able to suprise me .

    26. I got my shipping notice for Laetitia!! I ordered her on April 24th. I knew I couldn't count on the amazing three week turnaround but a month and a half ain't too shabby! I'll post pics when she arrives.

      • x 1
    27. Congrats @VitaPlastica - Can't wait to see her!
So, it looks like Raccoon is finally sending out shipping notices ahead of the doll. Normally I get the doll first, then the shipping notice. By then it's like: Yeah, I know she shipped. She's here already.

    28. New shot of Lucy.............just because I'm trying to enjoy what I have and not get a new one. Yikes! I really like the new girls though!

    29. Congratulations ;). Please post pictures here when she arrives, she will be the first (and only?) Laetitia here I think.

      Dreamy picture, nicely done :thumbup.

I honestly must say to anyone who was able to change the hands for Iple's - you have my utter admiration. I considered myself as being on intermediate level regarding stringing BJDs, but obviously I am not *_*. I tried to change Nina's hands, but I was unable to keep the S hook from falling out from the hand or make the string to go into the S hook. That tiny S hook will kill me :doh. Do you have any tips how to do it more effectively? I gave up for now but will try again later.

    30. Oh, my, that's terrible! I was able to simply pull out the arm elastic far enough to install the new hands.

Holding the doll arm with three fingers against my palm, I pulled the elastic out maybe 3cm with my other hand. I pinched and held it between thumb and forefinger of the first hand, at the end right up next to the S-hook, and unhooked the default hand. I was then able to slip the S-hook over the bar in the new JID hands I bought for her. I had no trouble at all... but maybe your doll is strung more tightly than my Nina was?

You could try using locking forceps (also called hemostats) to secure the elastic while making the exchange, too. Just be sure to protect the edges of the wrist joint when you do this, to prevent dents or scratches in the resin.

You can get hemostats inexpensively here at pharmacies and stores that sell fishing lure supplies, like hardware stores.

      • x 1
    31. I managed to change hands though I remember the first hand I did straight away then nearly gave up on the second but got there in the end.

    32. I used hemostats and maybe a chopstick and had little trouble.
I love the nYID hands on these girls!!!

And Jincincy, that's a wonderful shot of your lovely Lucy!

    33. @Jill in WV - I followed similar routine, but maybe the main trouble is, she is strung really tightly - I am able to string my EID girl without any issue, but for Nina's hands I had to pull really hard to get it 1 cm from her arm. My fingers still hurt :XD:. Maybe the best way will be getting a new string and string her arms more loosely.

Either way your words @Jill in WV, @avrilpaeony and @luluna gave me motivation, that it's possible, so I will give it another try. When I imagine that I bought new hands for Sarah too . Ok, I have to manage, even though I wanted to do the blushing on hands, but I can do it even when they are already attached, or I might scratch them during the process.

    34. @boudica - Sometimes when elastic hurts my hands from pulling it I use a shoestring and thread it through the loop of elastic and then I have a larger thing to pull as the shoestring is easier on my hands.

I hope that makes sense....it's hard to describe.:kitty1

    35. Thanks ; yes I used a pattern and you can still find it available for free on Daniel Bingham website :3nodding:

    36. Thank you so much!

    37. I really like Sia, but I see she was a limited edition. Does this mean the Sia sculpt will never be available again at all?

    38. Most of Raccoon's girls tend to come out as limited, then they come back, usually with a different face-up. Some of them came back when he offered the slim body option and Sweet Mocha skin color for the first time. So don't worry, she'll be back in one form or another.:)

    39. Thanks, vermont chick. That's good news indeed.

    40. Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well.

@PennyDes thanks for sharing your BJD enthusiasm. I want to get lots of wigs and eyes and clothes for my future doll.

@VitaPlastica I can hardly wait to see Laeticia. She is gorgeous!

@vermont chick the dress is nice. Fits her perfectly!

@boudica hope you are feeling better. Bronchitis is terrible.

If I missed any one else I apologize. My internet connection is limited so don't get to reply as much as I want to. That crochet bikini is super cute!

I've been saving up and I can get a raccoon doll soon. Has anyone ordered from Fabric Friends and Dolls? They offer some raccoon dolls.

I'm reading the old discussion threads to find wig sizes, clothes and clothes patterns, shoes and eyes sizes for Raccoon Doll.

So far it seems like Monique gold size 5/6 is popular for wigs. Iplehouse JID and ninie9 style for clothes are good fits for clothes. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank you and take care everyone!

    41. @Phoenixflower383 - I have ordered from Fabric Friends and Dolls several times. So far only clothing, however, not dolls. The advantage of ordering from them is that if you are ordering an In Stock doll you'll get it right away. Which girl are you planning to buy?

    42. Hi, they offer Bellis Daisy as a preorder. $400 for the doll only. She and Modern Gene are my favorites.

I just noticed that you have some nine9 style clothes that don't fit. Are they MSD size? Also if you don't mind sharing which pattern did you use and which shoes do you like best for RD?

Of course I'm super indecisive and keep waiting for the next month' s specials or even iplehouse specials. :whee:

Thank you for your time and interest!

    43. I bought a flowered dress by Nine9 Style, as well as the vest that Mika is wearing. Both are MSD size. The dress is way too short and the waist is high. I find that is true of other Nine9 Style dresses. They appear to be designed for a shorter, thicker body.

The pattern I used for Mika's dress is the EGL dress from #14 Mini Wardrobe for 43cm Narae by Gracefaerie. I simply left off the sleeves, collar and lace. It's a little high-waisted because it was designed for a shorter doll. If I make it again I'll try to remember to lengthen the bodice.

I haven't tried a lot of different shoes for my girls. The JID high heels from Iplehouse fit pretty well overall but are a bit loose, so I cut felt insoles for the insides and also make sure the girls wear stockings. That's sufficient to keep the shoes from falling off.

Bellis Daisy is sold out from Raccoon Doll's site. I hope FF&D pre-ordered enough dolls to sell a few as In Stock. Modern Gene is the version of Gene most of us on this thread bought. I don't remember if anyone ordered Traditional Gene. They're both pretty, but Modern Gene and Sweet Mocha Lucy were the first two dolls to come out with the Sweet Mocha resin option so people tended to jump on those two.

    44. Oh please post lots of pics! I'll be super jealous, but I will live vicariously through your pics. I just missed the deadline to buy her. Can't wait to see all the lovely pictures. I hope they release her again. I wish they would make at least one version of her a basic that was always available. She is really a beautiful doll. Which version did you get? I had my eye on the monochrome one.

    45. Oops! My answer to VitaPlastica may have been misleading. She ordered Laetitia--not me. My comment referred to Raccoon's shipping notices in general.

    46. Gotcha. Well hopefully @VitaPlastica will post lots of pics then! Haha!

    47. Your Emma is gorgeous. I love the Monique wigs. They are some of the best in my opinion!!

    48. After the shipping notice, it was only two days. From Korea to Atlanta, GA. It came at the best possible time! I was having a bad day and she just mellowed it all out. I will post a pic but this is my first time posting a pic in DOA and I have no idea what I'm doing. Going to do some research. This is my link if you're desperate to see her. She's better than I could have imagined. Danielle

    49. She is absolutely gorgeous. I like your other dolls and the cabin with all the details. The cabin is very special.

Where did you get the wig? It's great.

    50. Wow-she is stunning. I also agree-that wig is everything! Where did you get it? I'm looking for something similar to replace what I have for my iplehouse JID Benny girl. Your other dolls are great too!

    51. Congrats @VitaPlastica - She's gorgeous and I agree that the wig is something special! I also love your Gigi's cabin and the cottage project, too. :loveWish I had the patience to put projects like that together. My girls are lucky if I sew them some clothes.

    52. Hello all!
I have been following this thread for awhile (part of what made me join DoA) and all you ladies are fabulous! I'm new to the lifestyle of bjd but have been a fan for a long while. I have a Sweet Mocha skin Nina on her way and seeing your lovely girls has made me supper excited about the purchase!! Also all the tips on clothes and wigs and such has been super helpful! So thank you all very much!! <3

Now my next leap I need to make is finding my lovely gal a man haha. I have been scrounging the interwebs looking for a very masculine looking doll any pointers?

    53. @Arcyelle - Welcome to bjds!
Raccoon Doll is supposed to come out with men! Maybe later this summer? :)

    54. @Arcyelle - Welcome to the thread!

Raccoon did promise male dolls by this summer, but so far there is no news about them. I sure hope he comes through because it's hard to find male dolls that work with these statuesque, small-headed beauties. Dolls with bigger heads (6-7 wig and larger) look weird with our girls and most of the small-headed guys, such as Dollshe 28M Fashion, are too short.

The aGatti males look like the best fit overall. They are 47.7cm tall and the head size is in the 5-6 wig range. I believe ordering is done via social media, which leaves out those of us who are not connected.

The closest other male I have come across is a Lumedoll. His head is the right size and his height is the same as hers--except when the Raccoon girl is wearing high heels. And since I haven't found flats that fit these girls, that makes the Lumedoll boy shorter. You can bring him up to size by putting him in platform boots. I had a pair but they were old and the fake leather was flaking off. His new boots are not as thick-soled so I'm back where I started. When I take new photos of my Lumedoll and a Raccoon girl together I'll post one here for reference.

    55. I would love to see the lumedoll and raccoon doll comparisons. I had always thought those dolls would look nice together. Do Raccoon dolls not come in a flat foot option? Are they all heeled?

    56. The dolls come with both flat and heel feet. The problem is finding flat shoes. I think someone here found flat boots (back on the first thread) but they weren't a style I could envision on my girls. Even Raccoon doesn't sell flats, only heels.
I'll take photos of my Lumedoll and a Raccoon girl today.

    57. Hi! Welcome to DoA and the raccoondoll thread! Congratulations on your first purchase. Can't wait to see your new BJD and how you style her. :)

    58. Old picture of my Raccoondoll and aGatti together for comparison, he was quite easy to order using flickr mail through my yahoo email account. She does have better clothes now, this was when she first came and I was trying to find anything that fitted.
