Hi guys! I couldn't find a topic that had this but I'm hopeless at navigating this forum so I apologize if I missed it. I'm makeing doll clothes as part of a fabric swap and the person collects pullip, but I know nothing about them!! I have the Hanon Tiny Wardrobe book and it says the M size fits "Neo Blythe" so... Would that work?? TIA! -Mush
Pullip and Blythe are different in size. Yes, they can share some clothes but the fit/length will be quite different. Blythe are shorter, Pullip longer for example. So a long dress on a Blythe becomes a short one on a Pullip. Blythe vs Pullip (T4) Here's a comparison. Maybe you can search on Google for Pullip measurements?
I'd looked up measurements but there was such variation that I wound up confusing myself. Okay, I guess I'll make something for one of the styles they collect that I know a bit better. Thank you!!
There is a variant of sizes for Pullips because there are different bodies. There is the first original bodies, V1. V2, then V3, as well as the V4 which is the super slim bodies still used on Pullips today. You will need to ask her which version body she has. There is also a chance she has customized her pullip, and put her on an Obitsu body. Which is a body with more articulation made be a different company then Jun Planning. Hope this helps!
Here's a link to the 27cm obitisu measurements in case that's what she has. There's different bust sizes however and I'm not sure which bust size she measured them from: Doll Measurements
I believe I have that same book, and if I'm right, things like the apron pattern, the shoes and socks pattern, the little stuffed fox would all fit with a pullip just fin e, as well as if you did something sleeveless that wasn't too form fitting or two short on Blythe should work. (think summer dress) Really they aren't terribly different in height and if something isn't form fitting they're not too different in size elsewhere. I would avoid the pants unless you're going for capris which can be cute and I made some for one of my pullips earlier this year. Also, can't remember if the book has a pattern for a bag or not, but there is a lot of sewing you could do outside of just clothing, and if she's like me or pretty much any doll collector that does more than set the doll on the shelf and never touch it again, she's bound to love accessories for her dolls as well.
Wait - so the bodies are different sizes, but the heads are the same size for both dolls? I have an 11 cm/6 inch Obitsu body, and my niece definitely wants one of these dolls. Can you buy the heads separately? I saw the complete sets, but I just want a head.
You can buy Pullip blank kits that come with all the parts except hair and clothes, which are rather inexpensive compared to full-set Pullip and friends. They are around $35-$45 USD, depending on where you find them and the type of doll (Pullip, Dal, Isul, etc.). Sometimes, the color of the kit also makes it a bit more expensive than others, depending on the seller or dealer. Pulip's official USA store had some in-stock just recently, but there might be other legit dealers that also have them as well. You can't purchase Blythe heads separately, if you want legitimate ones. You might be able to get one second hand, but there was a time when I tried for years to do so and wasn't able to find one. Now I'm way more of a of a germaphobe, to continue trying but I think I'll eventually just purchase one of the full-sets that isn't too crazy expensive and call it a day. All I really want is the head as well. There's no way to get new Blythe heads legitimately, however, so there's no other choice, and I'm no longer willing to purchase used items -- which, don't aways mean less expensive either, more so with certain older models of Blythe. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck! (:
This was helpful. Thanks! I saw those DIY Pullip kits for $35-$45, which is perfect. I am not interested in introducing my niece to the knockoff world. I only want to purchase legit products. And frankly, I've priced out knockoff heads on AliExpress anyways - and they cost more than legit. So why bother?
Okay - coming back to say: did y'all see that Groove is selling Pullip dolls buy one, get one free?? GROOVE STORE I've never seen anything for an expensive doll like that.
They always have a sale during the end of the year Holidays; I got a Black Butler Book of Circus Sebastian Taeyang for a few bucks less than retail a few years ago, when he was re-released. A few days later, it was more than half off, I was kicking myself for being "impulsive," but you never know if they'll lower the dolls anymore or just end the sales and that's it. Or at least, that's what I keep telling myself, not to keep dragging the feeling on (whenever I see him getting cheaper by the minute during more recent sales). DX
