I would like to say Thanks to elfmoon for organization of this challenge. I took part for the first time. And I really enjoyed this process. I knew a lot of new, I used new or forgotten technologies. I made a work scheduler and keep to it. Sometimes sewing tasks made ​​me think. And I'm pleased with the result. My doll has the new outfit now. I think she's glad too


It a pity that only Zardi shared her process. I would like to see another processes too.

 

I wish more people had posted WIPs too.

This has been a fun contest, and great motivation to actually get an outfit finished -_- My entry just needs the head piece and final photos left to go.

Nicely done! Love all the detail work. And I really admire your organized approach. I hoped for two weekends when I signed up and ended up stealing one plus a day and still have handwork. Just couldn't get past other deadlines. Ah, well...at least he won't be nekkid on the runway!

I honestly haven't been sure if we were supposed to post in progress shots. I, too, would enjoy seeing some. For one thing, if that was the "norm" I'd document my process better! I just realized...I've taken basically nothing.

 

I normally have a limited time to get mine together so usually don't post WIP photos, etc..but its cool to see evereyones, puts the rest of us in high gear to get a move on..lol

Ta Da.. Done with time to spare. Darn Photobucket was giving me a harder time posting the photos than making the costume with a cast on my right hand. I can't wait to see the rest of the entries. Awesome details SiliEl. Witchcraft, your girl really looks like a peasant. I am impressed.

 

Thank you Vindalootoo and namaro! I was a peasant in my local Ren Faire for years myself so I am glad to see I didn't lose my dirty touch lol.

These are looking awesome! I plan to finish my girl's accessories today and hopefully take the pictures before the sun goes down.

You definitely didn't! The fabric is beautiful! Lovely fit and the ladder lacing is cool! Also...love her hair! Great job!

Tee hee. Didn't see this one last night. Adorable! As somebody said above, Mookie and the dragon have the same expression. So cute!

I'm closing in. Someday, I'm going to have a big enough sewing vocabulary not to make it up as I go along. Leather...is interesting to work with, and for heaven's sake, sew the brim to the crown BEFORE sewing the under brim to the upper brim. Next time...

 

My entry is posted! The other entries are astounding to me. While I am pretty happy with my own entry, it is obvious how much more experienced some of you are with this. I love seeing what you have come up with!

thank you! no, didnt make it, was a $5 letter opener i got on ebay, then glued red stones on it.

 

I kinda thot it might be a letter opener, unless you were quite the blacksmith! Vanye's broadsword is a letter opener I got years ago and actually used as the basis for his sword in the Graphic Novel, but this is really great! It might even sub for Changeling! (Gotta check out ebay.)

Wheee! Yummy. Lacing. I LOVE lacing. And his weapons are great!

Absolutely adorable! Love the little cap and the green matches her pretty eyes perfectly. What, may I ask, is cartridge pleating? It's certainly very even, whatever it is.

 

Such great costumes everyone...Almost finished but at work so can only work on handstitching stuff on breaks, will probably be about another hour of work when I get home then photos..wanted to do some outside photos but not sure if it will be too late by that time. And if it was tomorrow instead of today I could have taken a photo of him at an actually Ren Faire that I'm going to..lol

 

Everyone's outfits are so amazing so far! I cannot wait to see the remaining folks' entries.

 

Whew! Done. Up. Truly stole time from what I should be doing to finish it, but once I was into it, I just couldn't stop. The pictures are probably the worst I've ever taken. He'd have been much better outside, but it's pouring out there, and because he has no faceup, the flash just doesn't work. Ah, well, the plants need the rain, so I'm not complaining.

Now to work work work!

Everyone has done so well! I love all the variety of outfits.
Sadly I am going to have to withdraw, I apologize!
I had hoped that I would have time to devote to this, but July has been horrible for me, I am sorry.
Here is all I have been able to accomplish, I was going to try to rush it today but I really wanted to make good quality looking armor and outfit, rather than just submit a rushed looking outfit. But I still had fun making the little I could and plan to finish sometime. Good luck to you all!

Oh, noooos! So sorry it's been horrible. Hope things have settled to not-horrible. I hope, when you do have time, that you finish it and post it...where, elfmoon? Here or in the PR chat thread?

 

Thanks! He is my white lion character I decided to keep him as he was with his kitty ears and tail, the slit in the back of the doublet was perfect to incorporate it...now he wants to go off and meet some ladies..lol

 

Thanks, elfmoon! Vanye sends his thanks as well. He's almost a year old and finally has a coat! (Not to mention boots, which has been his lifelong dream. Joke around the house is that his boots are ragged and always falling down. He's a very happy ilin!)

I've just seen other costumes (had no time before). Wow! Such wonderful ones! How many interesting details! I'm impressed!

Wow! Early results!

Vanye bows and says "Thank you very much." In reality, he's just sooo happy to have boots. He sits in his chair with his feet in the air admiring them. (On going joke around that house is that Vanye's boots are perpetually falling down around his ankles.)


(As you can see...he never gets to keep the hat! )
