Project Runway ~ the Under the Big Top Challenge ~ Game 13 ~ WINNERS POSTED!

Going through photos, resizing and uploading tonight. I didn't get to get everything the way I was hoping, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I had to let go of the goggles and second gauntlet. The goggles were being a super pain in the tooshy to make. lol

EDIT: Entry submitted. Really hoping I'm not forgeting anything. Falling asleep on the pooter while working on the photos.

 

wow neo-ragdolls, that is a pretty cool detailed and creative costume...very nice!

At this point mine will be be pretty boring and plain jane, because well I have no clue what I'm going to do, I think I'm running out of creative juice for these lately. But I will continue and finish and see what happens.

 

*sigh* me... I had to go back to the drawing board...

 

grrr, I'm mad at myself. I said I won't look at entries before I am done, and what is the first thing I do? Look at neo-ragdolls' entry LOL

Thank you, felt like I was pulling an all nighter, just in case we lost power early on. But since the storm is farther to the west than us, we still have power. Lots of really strong gusts of wind and heavy rain today.

I'm hoping our power stays on so I can see everyone's entries. It's exciting to see everyone's creative and amazing costume entries. :whee

 

I was going to make white stockings with green tops like sephydoll suggested, but soon found out that mesh curtains do not like being made into doll clothes. They looked so hideously scrunchy and were already ripping so I just used the green lace instead. I'm trying to make shoes, but had to stop in the middle of one because my hot glue sticks disappeared sometime last night. (This is what happens when you clean!)

Your costume looks great, neo-ragdolls! I'm jealous!

lol...this is how I felt as well, there is nooo way my costume will even stand up to such creativity and imagination. I am kinda wanting to change away from the boring tightrope walker idea, unless of course I can come up with something off the wall to do at the last minute, which uh is now I guess..lol. I really don't want this to be the first I drop out of but I'm feeling a bit discouraged, no inspiration coming to me at the moment.

 

You can do it Kitty Blue! Hortense is so cool and you've already done some awesome shots of her on a high wire, so I know you can do an awesome glamour shot too. ^_^

Erm, I don't think I've ever posted in any of the Project Runway threads, but I always pop in to check out the entries every month. Such a col on-going contest...some day I'll be un-busy enough to try joining...

 

I hate sewing socks. I have made a least 5 thigh-highs and they all broke. I end up making them too small to get past her heel when I shape it. So then they tear. I have a pair of knee-highs made but they don't have the scalloped lace on top and aren't as cool... On the other hand, once I've wasted all of my lace and finally make a useable pair, I'll be done with my costume!

I am so excited to everyone's entries! It would be so cool if we all lived near each other and could do a giant circus-themed photoshoot together.

edit: 3 socks later and I finally have a useable pair! Of course, I still can't find hot glue sticks to finish the hideous shoes I started. At this point I'm thinking that she'll just have to go barefoot.

 

I was thinking about "you guys" around Mississippi today (I was talking to my dentist about the storm) and hope the storm passes by quickly and with as little damage as possible. You don't need another hurricane!!

come on guys you can do it!! I just finished the construction on mine! All that's left is embellishment and props.

 

OMG adorableness! I love the little dragons! Big huge props on working with such a tiny size, you have much more patience then I do. Boy the judges sure are going to have it tough if the already finished ones are any indication of more to come.

tee hee, just saw Mookie..gotta love the handlebar moustache, these little ones are just so cute!

 

Oh wow! I am so impressed with the teeny-tiny costumes, PoeticSoul and namaro! You guys did great!

I got my photos up! The glamour shot took considerable photoshopping but looks really nice now. I did a bit more research and found out that tightropes made of rope are commonly walked without shoes, so I went ahead and took the detail and glamour photos yesterday afternoon, rather than try to finish the shoes I started (which were too stiff and bulky to actually be worn by a tightrope walker anyway.) I made a black & white version of the glamour, too, since in my mind this circus is very old-fashioned, if you ignore the flashy costumes. {here}

Can't wait to see more costumes!

Thank you, neo-ragdolls! I tried out many, many different camera angles for the glamour but that one just looked the coolest to me.

 

Is it too late to be popped onto the extension list?
My sewing machine decided that today was the day it was going to act up for me - so it took me longer than I expected to finish constructing my jacket. I am quite pleased with how my jodphurs turned out though.
I'm all done except for hand-finishing (snaps and attaching a collar & epulats) and a hat. I might get finished tomorrow - but it will be a close thing..

well, looks like I am in need of an extension, we will see if I am able to finish this in time. I haven't finished the costume and have not gotten the prop made oh well, we will see.

Extension please! I just got a job (2nd week) and I'm fighting with the jacket. It will not lay right and I'd like to light it on fire lol!

 

ack! trying my best to finish..have to get ready to go out to watch my BF's band play tonight so ran out of time for the day...the outfit definitely is not coming out like I planned..lol..though it rarely does. Looks like I'll really be cutting it close to the line (lol..highwire/tightrope-line..lol).

 

fuuu... what a day to get a migrane...

It's just not gonna happen, ive had a day from hell. I will post a photo in a few days if I ever finish it. But for now I must sleep.

and...phew...done. I think I'm pretty happy with the results. I hope the glamour photo is ok, I wanted to show how her act would probably look like at night with UV lights...lol.

This was such a fun challenge, but I am glad it is over as my eyes need some resting and I even broke my own promise of not using a gold thread for sewing ever again - it breaks all the time LOL

 

They are all so cool! I don't envy the judges on this one. I love how different each idea was, they all turned out fabulously!

Whew! That was exciting May I say that everyone has fabulous costuming talents! It almost took me as long to download the photos as it did to add the details of her costume.

 

I am very impressed by everyone's entries. Loving the details and interpretations. Congratulations to all for jobs well done. Poetic Soul, Grannybelle is adorable. You did a great job on such teeny, tiny sewing.

 

I thought that Witchylana's first photo looked like her glamour shot, it's the back view that's missing.

 

Everyone's outfits are truly amazing this go round! It was a wonderful theme and everyone rose to the challenge. Excellent work everyone!

Oh thank you...that means so much since your sewing for your boy in these challenges is what inspired me to try sewing for something so small myself. I loved your costume too...that handlebar mustache and lion was just wonderful.

I finally sat down and went through the thread to make sure I saw everyone's submission. The judges will have a hard time choosing a winner from among you! All the entries are superb and as someone said, I wish all the entries could be placed together for a real circus photo! It would be a very interesting shot. Excellent work and good luck to all of you!

Her costume is very simple, no where near as detailed as the other submissions. I love playing with color - the world is too drab today. But my main challenge was to have her stand on the stilts, which she did very nicely. Only in the glamour shot is she braced (by the horse) since the floor was uneven. But she almost stood; I just didn't want to chance a face-plant on the concrete floor.

 

it would be fun to even get a collage of all of them together since we can't get them all together to get a real photo shoot. i tried not to peak until after the close at all the wonderful costuming. everyone did an amazing job. my personal favorite is PoeticSoul's submission. all that detail on that scale boggles the mind O.o and it doesn't hurt that i'm partial to dragons.

 

Yes, congratulations to all of you. I would have given a ribbon to everyone - I couldn't have chosen.

I think this was a really fun challenge, so glad to see the three different styles/costumes win the three prizes.

 

Yes! Congratulations to the wonderful winners...and to everyone else too because all the costumes from this round are truly amazing and creative. I would so NOT want to have to judge such a mass of fabulous work...so thank you to the judges who are brave enough to tackle such a daunting task.

I think everyone did an amazing job on their costumes for this challenge and they are all winners. It was a great concept and gave us all a ton of inspiration. Thank you.

 

The outfits that won are all really cool. I'm disappointed that I didn't win but at the same time I think the outfits that did are really well done and deserved it.
