    5. I have a pattern for the leotard I was planning to make all ready, and I sewed one up in a different (easier to work with) fabric, but I think I'm going to change my design and make the top separate so that it has a tighter fit. I have the materials all set though, so I'm happy about that!

I have a basic idea of what I want to do...but sewing for a doll this small, I'm just not quite certain what will work and what won't.:sweat This is one I'm going to have to design on the fly...it will be a big learning curve.;)

    8. lol...well I always have a concept in my head and then it ends up getting changed for one reason or another, I'll probably be cutting it close again this time since I have a performance I'm working on that is on Aug 25, so trying to get bits of times here and there, maybe if I get my costume for myself finished this weekend I can start on my dolls.

    11. There's been a question about the rule concerning accessories and props. I'll try to make it clearer.

You can choose as many accessories or props as you want, or a combination of both. You can have 1 accessory and no props, or 1 prop and no accessories, or 1 prop and 1 accessory, or as many of both as you like.

      Does that make better sense?

    17. It seems I'm dropping D: I've got my pattern cut out, and some parts sewn already, but it seems that with school starting next week and my church trying to get in activities before the summer ends, I won't have any time to work.

I'm so disappointed :< I hope I can participate not next time, but maybe after that. Good luck to everyone. :|

Angel kat, I also realized my idea won't work after I started on it LOL then I thought of another idea, but then realized I threw out some pieces I wanted to use. Geez, just when I convinced myself that purging is good for the house (and my mental state) this happens. hahaha
Now I'm kind of stuck and thinking of another idea >.<

I am not sure what to do. I wanted something sturdy and I had these left over blinds (just regular aluminum blinds) that would be perfect thickness, but now not sure what could be used for substitute. Any thoughts?

wyldangel, "the husband" is the "problem" in my house too hahaha I hide stuff in closets and suitcases so he won't throw it out :sweat

elfmoon, I was trying to do a 'fan' like skirt with parts fabric, parts blinds pieces (I am talking about the generic white blinds you can get at WalMart). I hope I am making sense, I am not so artistic to draw it out.
OK, so I crappily drew up my idea in Paint (don't mind the torso-like-thing). It is not exactly how I imagined the skirt, but you get the idea of the dangly pieces - some would be fabric, some would be the blinds pieces connected with fabric:

    31. How about those thin plastic school binders? You could cut one of those up and I'm sure if you use a 'demin/jeans' needle you could sew through it.

I have two huge calico fan tailed goldfish named Chubby and Tubby in one tank. One is 8" long with tail and the other is 6". And two Betta (Siamese fighting fish) Half Moons, a red one named Dragon and a blue one named Royal, but not in the same tank! lol!

    39. Unfortunately, I'm also going to have to drop out. Life has gotten in the way, and illness (my own and my partner's) combined with work obligations and some legal problems have been taking up my time, and are going to be doing so for the foreseeable future. Best of luck to everyone! I do still hope to finish this outfit, I just know that I'm not going to be able to do so in time for the end of the challenge. Perhaps when I get the free time to complete it, I will post some photos in the chat thread.

    42. I HATE sewing snaps. I was doing them while watching "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" this morning, and not even watching Jeremy Renner for two hours could stop me from whining about having to sew them on. My costume design has four sets of snaps on it, unfortunately, though one of the was a hook for this version because I made the strap too short for a snap to reach.

    44. I dread sewing snaps on. T-T My boy's spats have them going up the sides. Needed to stop a couple times just to keep from going bananas, lol. But after I finished one spat, it's so worth the work. I loves how it turned out. :celebrate

i hadn't thought about using thin velcro. :sweat (storing that info away for future sanity)

OMG, I love that movie!! You made me laugh out loud and now I'm off to watch the movie :D

There is such a thing? I didn't even know!
I use tiny snaps but often sew too much thread on it so it keeps snapping open hahaha

    46. I updated my design post with progress photos! I finally finished the leotard that's been sitting here for weeks staring at me, and I even put the skirt on it! :) {here}

Next up is thigh-high stockings. I have more of the green lace from the skirt that I could use, but my mom thinks I should use this off-white really fine tulle I have so that it contrasts with the skirt. But that wouldn't be easily seen by crowds at a circus since she's a tightrope walker. Opinions?

    47. I've purched doll velcro on Etsy, but it's hard to find. It's really thin and soft and it sews on. You can cut it to any width. It hardly adds any bulk to your garment and you can even use it on Barbie size clothing.

    50. woo hoo. I am done. We had the photoshoot today. The father of my friend at work resizes the pictures for me and makes the composite pictures for the details (I am a total photography know-nothing) so I just need to get them back from him and I will be all set. Normally, I am working until the last minute of the extension day but today was the last minute for me because my photographer is going on vacation.

i'm going to have to ask for the extension too. Somehow I lost a whole week to other unexpected disasters. I'm fine on finishing the costume but totally forgot to leave time for the background display. And that is very necessary! For some reason I didn't connect that the contest ended right before Labor Day. Somehow I thought that Labor Day was a week later, and that with my birthday coming up I'm really cramped for spare time.
