Project Runway Game 25 The Channel Your Favorite Character Challenge

I finally found a pair of converse sneakers (thank you DDE!) that should be perfect for my little Ten gender-bender. I also purchased some fabric over the weekend and I still need to rummage through my stash here at my house for the remaining.

The white fabric has very faint stars on them I hope to be able to photograph in the entry photos. They refused to pick up in the poor light of my kitchen this morning and I didn't feel like fussing with it anymore lol. I also am toying with the idea of adding the pinstripe to the brown fabric with fabric pens since I couldn't find any actual pinstripe fabric at the local shop. Not sure what I am going to do with the blue. Something to tie in the Tardis but I am not sure how just yet.

My converse sneakers arrived yesterday and they are sooooo awesome! So awesome I took them right upstairs and popped them onto Olive's feet. So I forgot to take photos lol. But now that the most important part of Ten's outfit is here I am going to officially start this challenge. Just need that extra motivation.

 

That is great I love converse sneakers! My outfit is moving along I have made the shirt trousers and cravat, I am a bit intimidated by the coat though I also have to make the shoes too and I fear that will be a failure. If anyone knows where you can get green boots I would be ever so grateful.

 

Well, after two days I finally finished making the prototype trousers - what a lot of work! But it also added some pieces to what I was going to make. I'm close to the $$ limit but still under. Here are the fabrics I'm using:



Now to cut out the real trousers - maybe this pair will go faster.

frenchaddict: good luck with the coat. I've still got to make the tailcoat pattern. The pants pattern took forever to create but had very little in changes once I finished it.

I've been sick for a few days and going on vacation for the rest of the month (with no internet access) so I'm going to have to pull out.

 

I hadn't taken any other photos of my Souldoll Lemkin when I first posted to this challenge but felt that I needed to add this photo; I didn't want anyone to think that I switched dolls. Lemkin is from their Tarot series - he is the Hermit. He came with the full face mask which is why he seemed so perfect for the Dantes/Count character. I will be using the mask for my entry. I see the younger as Richard Chamberlain while the elder is Sean Connery. Dantes is 35-40 when he becomes the Count so the mask isn't too many years off, especially since that is the persona he has truly become for the rest of his life.
Oh, and just for precaution please add me to the extension list. There is a mountain of hand sewing with this and I haven't even finished the outfit yet! I finished making the patterns on the 20th. I'm glad we don't have to include costs for graph paper.

hrm glad I came in and looked at the post again, I had typed a reply and thought it posted..strange. Anyway please put me on the extension list as well. I don't think I'm going to have the time to make the outfit I wanted to but I'm going to give it a shot on another idea. Time will be tight but I'm confident I'll make the deadline.

Grundlemumph.... I'm afraid some challenging life stuff has come up this week and I don't think I'll be able to finish, even with the extension, but I'll cheer everyone on from the sidelines!!

 

I know the answer will probably be no but thought it couldn't hurt to ask...I was really wanting to enter my Trinity doll Lumie in this challenge but I didn't receive her until last weekend at Dollism...I entered my Trinity Klaire..since they are the same bodies would it be ok to use my Lumie or do I need to stick with the other head sculpt. Again they are both the Dollmore Trinities I just was really hoping to make this costume for my Lumie...guess I should have just put in a company photo. Let me know no worries either way since they are the same body I can still put the dress on my Lumie afterwards.

 

I'm so sorry, but I have to withdraw from the competition Until recently, I was hoping that I will have more free time. Busy with work and sudden illness will not let me finish the dress in time. Even extension list not save the situation.

I wish everyone success and really want to see images of the other designers! And thanks to the organizers and judges for this wonderful contest!

EDIT: Another quick question as I'm finishing up on the costume tonight and taking photos tomorrow. Can we include inspiration photos in a collage with our detail photos? So that the judges can see the historical image and character image that we are basing it off of?

I tried to come up with a short synopsis of The Count of Monte Cristo but have failed miserably, so the short description at the beginning of the post will have to do.

frenchaddict, blue oracle, witchcraft - thank you so much for the compliments. It was a complex outfit to make - each added layer had to fit over the previous ones.
I'll be getting Edmund's outfit up probably this weekend the earliest. Three of the four pieces are made but they are all light colors and each has extensive hand sewing to be done. I cut my finger and hand sewing right now is painful if not messy. I bled on the inside of the tailcoat trying to finish it. At least it was black and not white I was working on.

 

Amazing indeed I fear mine is rather simple this time around but I made it for my doll because its something I wanted to do for her anyway and it fit the theme. And speaking of my costume its finished but I can find any lights to take photos...my house is so horribly lit and everything always casts a yellow tint on everything..ugh..hopefully I can find my lights before tonight..so much for being productive tonight.

 

Wow. Awesome job LadyFeather. So much detail and finely crafted. Our amateurish entry is now posted as well. Yours is a hard act to follow. We had fun with it though. Now to clean up the mess I made in my craft room.

Teleri I actually use to be involved in the SCA quite alot and 14th century was my chosen era for my persona my name in the SCA was Lady Gillian Hunter and I LOVED to make parti-colored cote hardies...my favorite and sideless surcotes...I actually have a gown that I made that would be another good fit for sleeping beauty it has a blue undergown and sideless surcote in salmon pink with fur and gold trim and gems down the front. Hmmm wonder if I still have that gown if so I should totally take a photo of me in it with Aurora (yep named her after sleeping beauty..lol)
