Project Runway ~ Game 19 ~ behold Mount Olympus!

Aug 13, 2013

    1. Not lack of ability, darlin', lack of experience! That's what you're racking up fast now! One reason I love doing these is that they challenge me to do try things I'd otherwise put off and likely never get around to. I'm using sculpy for the first time and seeing lots of other uses I hadn't thot of, for scale buckles and such.

I think she looks great! What are you doing for her, um, fifth appendage? LOVE LOVE LOVE that color on her! She's glowing.

I'm so sorry you're under the weather. Hope you're on the upswing.

Isn't it funny how something like your new kid needing clothing can get done in no time with little fuss and something that is for a "challenge/contest" seems to loom over you like some evil overlord waiting for you to make a mistake... (bwahahaha) This is the first challenge I've done that got started before the end of the month! :D

This looks yummy! Love that fabric in the bodice.

    6. Yikes, where did the month go? Add me too. I've got a bit more work to do since my machine won't do what I want done. The material is not right so I'll probably have to hand stitch.

Here's the picture of the materials I've put together plus the start of the lyre. Please ignore the cat - I'm trying to. He saw the camera and had to come over and pose.

    17. wow...the creativity and talent sure is coming out this round, I know I won't come up with anything nearly as fantastical as these wonderful ideas you guys are coming up with. And right now I am in doubt if I'll be able to even get started let alone finish in time "but" I am going to jump on the bandwagon and ask for an extension just on the off chance I have a free moment this weekend. Things are just chaotic with 2 jobs and my doggie who has been having a bad spell.

    18. Wow...This is getting so fun! That shield is stunning! PD1223: did you sculpt those snakes!?! how did you do the scales??

I'm fumbling around with sculpting. Pretty hit and miss, mostly miss. :D

Neo-ragdolls: I can't wait to see the wings assembled! Are they made out of sculpy!?!

      Kitty Blue:
I'm sorry to hear about your puppy. Hope he/she is getting better. Nothing is harder than when our non-verbal friends are suffering.

I really wanted to make Wiishu some sandals that fit, but I think I'm going to have to let that go by the wayside. I think I need to make him a new bow instead. The one I made keeps bending too much when it's strung. Sigh....

Hermes definitely was NOT PETA friendly. He told the turtle that he would make him sing, then gutted him and made him a lyre. It also made Hermes a liar - the turtle never sang, he made others sing.

      Progress report:

MOM MADE ME SOME SANDOWS WHAT FITSES!!!!!

One of the eternal frustrations of having an LTF is that their feet are smaller than the Volks YoSD. Their feet SWIM in commercial YoSD shoes. I was going to use some little gold sandals I had, but when I put them on with his greaves, they looked AWFUL! One reason I really needed the extension was to make these. They went faster than I thot so, depending on time today, I might actually make deadline..for the first time! Yippee! I really wanted outdoor shots, but with the wind and rain of the past few days, I don't think that's gonna happen. WAH!

    36. Hello all! Is this the place to post my submission? >.<

Here's my simple take for my little girl as Nike, the Winged Goddess of Victory :) It's a simple outfit with almost no accessories. I decided to leave her golden shoes out I made for her out because it was too badly done T.T

It's a white / pink little toga that I made with some satin. The foldings and drapings were the part that took me the most time.. A button is made where the toga meets (at the chest area).
Nike has wings with her, and I bought these tiny wings while ago :). Head accessory is made using some beads and wire! The pink ribbons came originally on the Papi wig that she is wearing :).

    38. She's beautiful! She really does look like an angel! Getting anything to drape for that size, (let alone satin!) is a serious challenge, and this is lovely. And togas never go out of style! This is a lovely "take" on the classic look.

I'm sure elfmoon will get back to you on this, but normally the pix are added to your original acceptance post so they're all together at the beginning of the thread.

I completely finished my outfit yesterday, but the photoshoot today was a bust, so I'm in the extension party this round. XD I had pictured in my mind a lush setting for my Gaia, but when I got to the planned location, it had been completely mowed, and was brown besides! My backup plan, a local creek, was also dried up and brown. I should have known better, since it's the end of September in Texas... Sure wish the wildflowers of spring would come back for a day. Well, the backup-backup plan is an indoor photoshoot tomorrow after work.

Can't wait to see all the finished work!

Your finished pics should be with your original entry photo, so you need to move them there. This is so the judges don't have to search the entire thread to find them.

    44. Yes, I didn't make it, sadly. Meant to post yesterday that I wouldn't be asking for an extension but I was too discouraged to even go online. The core of my outfit depended on me designing and making my own fabric with fabric crayons and fabric pens, transfering some of the complicated design from paper to fabric with an iron. Well, the first attempt was a disaster (have never done this before) and then the second one which I attempted Sunday was worse. I didn't make the same mistake twice, just made two completely different, horrible mistakes. I AM going to try again but I just don't have the heart or the enthusiasm for it right now which is why I didn't ask for an extension. But the outfit will appear eventually - probably on the "What are you currently sewing ..." thread. It's not just that I refuse to be a total flake in my first attempted challenge, but I also blew the major part of this challenge's budget on a trim that is only suitable for a vegetation deity (one of Dionysus' attributes) ... or a swamp monster!

    45. Totally understand. Time is a precious commodity. Dodona: so sorry about the fabric disasters, but it sounds VERY cool! If you figure it out, be sure to let us know...post a tute or something, OK? Oh...and warn us about what NOT to do, too! :D

ARGH!!!! I SO want to see your swamp monster trim!!!

Mostly...remember this is for fun and don't get discouraged. We're friends here. Whining is totally understood and sympathy forthcoming!

One thing I didn't realize when I first joined the challenges: be sure to let elfmoon know...I think even a PM is enough...if you're not going to make it, because disqualifications (I'd have to check the rules, but I think it's three in a row) can get you barred from the next handful of challenges. It would be just my luck to get disqualified right before the absolute Must Do challenge. Wiishu would go into mourning, and I'd be doomed to be reminded of my failure for the next ten years! :D

      Hope to see your outfits...whenever!

    46. Disqualified is a 'harsh' term but since PR is a game, with rules, it's the only word that applies.

You can PM me if you're forced to withdraw, but I check this thread daily so posting your intentions here is fine.

Three disqualifications, unfortunately, does lead to a ban.

We totally understand that life must be dealt with before any game! Don't be discouraged, there's always next time!

EDIT: Re: your problem with uploading multiple pics. First of all, that's totally weird. 60. Yippee!!! There's a free online editor that's pretty good:
      http://pixlr.com/
Just choose the "advanced" option and it lets you edit right online.

What a gorgeous Athena! Love the fit on that body suit.

My one regret on the challenge is that I don't see any way to do a god-family photo!
