    1. Super excited about this challenge. Even more excited now that the doll I'm going to use for it has actually been shipped (what a roller-coaster that transaction has been!) and I'll be able to put up photos of her soon.

sephydoll, I love the doll in your avatar. What is he?

    3. Kiyakotari, he is my Soom Idelian Hyperon :D The face-up was done unprofessionally by me, though, so he is a bit paler than he should be hahaha

I am quite excited too! I think I have pretty much everything ready on a mat in my basement LOL And my order with beads arrived today (some of which is going toward the outfit) so I am super happy about the timing.

    7. I'm curious about how others prefer getting their supplies so...

Do you like to go out and buy/order fabrics especially to be used in the challenge, or raid your own fabric stash?

    9. I always consider what I have in my stash first (because I really hate for that stuff to get too out of control...it needs to get used!):sweat Then I hit the fabric store for more supplies and inspiration. If I suspect they won't have it, then it's online I go! So yeah, I do it all...whatever it takes.:)

    16. Whew!! My girl is finally here, and I can begin acquiring the fabric for my project. I guess I should look through my (admittedly meager, if you don't count my collection of antique silk kimono bolts) stash before heading out to hunt through the thrift shops.

    19. Yeah, I don't actually sew (this challenge is way outside of my comfort zone), but I've got this total love of antique kimono. And really, for me it's all about the silk that's used, even more so than the construction (though that's cool, too, don't get me wrong). So while I've got a smallish collection of kimono, I've got a fairly large collection of unused bolts, because they're a lot cheaper than the completed kimono are.

    20. Super excited! I hit the Goodwill yesterday and totally scored. They were having a sale day, and I found fabric that will work for all of the main parts of my costume, and some of the items were even half off! The best find was this hideous taupe stretch brocade pants suit - totally something I would wear if it had been my size. The pattern is a small-scale acanthus leaf derivative design, and absolutely perfect for the Victorian-era inspired clown costume I'm doing for my girl.

    21. Did an initial muslin for one of my costume pieces today, and am fairly please with the fit. There are a few aspects that I'm going to modify before I cut it out of the fabric I'm going to use for it, since I only have a shirt's worth of the fabric, and it has quite a few seams already, so the large/usable pieces aren't very numerous.

    30. To those participating in the 'Things That Go Bump In The Night Challenge Game 14' check out the dollar stores. They have Halloween stuff in already and lots of it! I got almost everything I needed in one stop for under $10! Another $10 at Joanns and I'm set. Now I have to wait for two weeks to start!

    32. I have another, this time general, question. We are not supposed to start working on the costume and accessories until the challenge actually starts, but can we start preparing for the glamour shot? For example, if we wish to use furniture or other such things that will only be used in the glamour shot, but require some assembly. Can we work on that outside the allotted challenge time? Another example would be clothes that would be worn by a "prop" doll in the glamour shot. Can we make/buy those anytime since they are not the judged outfit but will clearly add to the glamour shot presentation? Thanks!

    33. PLEASE READ!

This post is a response to a question I received in a PM.

The question was if the cost of props is part of the $25 spending limit.

Props can be purchased, unless the challenge states they are to be handmade, which doesn't happen very often. Accessories must be made by hand unless otherwise stated in the challenge. Any item that is handmade is part of the $25 spending limit if it is a required part of the challenge.

Accessories that are normally worn with garments, such as belts, shoes, socks, and nylons can be purchased and are not included in the spending limit.

Any prop that is not a required part of the challenge, whether purchased or hand made, is not included in the spending limit.

      Does this make sense?

    36. Sephydoll ~ sorry I did not see your question until now.

Props are generally not considered part of the challenges, so you may purchase/assemble them any time you choose. However, if the game requires a prop made by you, then it must be made within the time frame of the challenge. Some times designers are given a choice of making either an accessory or a prop. In this case the accessory/prop must be made with the challenge time frame.

    40. I don't know why the new challenge has not been posted. I submitted the game thread on Nov 16th. It usually takes about 3 days to approve.

I sent a PM to the Mods 4 days ago asking why it hasn't been posted and I'm still waiting for an answer.

    42. PLEASE READ

Due to circumstances beyond our control Dec's game is cancelled.

I will explain the situation as best I can. When you submit a thread in the Games forum, it doesn't automatically post like in the other forums. The post is sent directly to the Mods where it's review and approved. If the game is approved the Mods post it.

I submitted the game on or around Nov. 16th. It usually takes 2 or 3 days to approve. I can't think of any reason the game would have been rejected. I used the standard game format and there was nothing odd about it.

On 11-21 I sent a PM to 'Ask the Mods' inquiring as to why the game hadn't been posted. I have yet to receive and answer. My question is labeled 'answer pending'.

Since it is now Dec. 1st, it's too late to hold a Dec game, as it should have started today. If/when I find out what happened, we will start the next game on Jan. 1st.

      My apologizes to everyone!
