Can we keep winning pics recorded in the Project Runway main thread? That way it can serve as a rule guide, and a museum!

 

Just a quick note on the fur swatches, they only ship within US (I've just tried lol)

 

Initially I entered my male doll, Hatter, in the new glamour and glitz challenge. But I've had to make a sudden switch to one of my girls instead, owing to a couple of quite major emergencies! Don't worry, these are happy emergencies. Emergency number 1 is that I just paid off my new Dollzone Anson and she is due home...like...tomorrow! I seriously doubt I'll be able to concentrate on anything else after her arrival because I'll be so obsessivly creative with her over the next several weeks. And emergency number 2 is that I just scored some awesome fabrics and trims for her on ebay that sent my creative juices soaring! I'm sorry my dear Hatter, but my creativity must flow where my heart goes! (He politely stepped aside when I promised him I would enter him in the next challenge.)

 

Members choice game? Not sure if I'm familar with that...what is it?

 

i have everything (i hope) ordered. now to see if it actually gets here on time!

 

I'm in the same boat as you, auntbear. I was looking for something very specific so I went shopping on ebay for supplies. I still have one more fabric to get, but I wanted to wait for the main piece I ordered to arrive first so I can traipse around the fabric store with it in hand before making my final fabric choice.

 

they closed the two fabric stores that were close by so now i'm 1/2 hour from the nearest fabric or hobby store. i tend to order most of my stuff on line out of protest

 

Does it have to be a suit? I know we have to make a vest but does it have to be a 'traditional' male suit?

 

Thanks elfmoon. My question was more regarding fantasy outfits, as so many DoA dolls/characters are fantasy world driven, but I think I got the intent now

I got a chance to go off post and find some really awesome fabrics, and designs are now flying in and out of my head.

Question: would concept pics and progress pics be posted here or in the actual game thread?

 

i started drafting my dress today. took all afternoon to get the bodice just right. i'm not sure how i want to finish the back though. i could do a simple zipper but would really like to try to do more of a corset style using the 'eyes" from hook and eyes. does anyone know where i can get a bunch of tiny ones? (they have to be willing to ship to canada)

my first time entering one of my boys so we'll see what happens...men's clothing can be sooo boring..lol. But my boy needed some new clothing anyway.

 

You could use scrap book eyelets from the craft store. And use super skinny zip ties for the boning in the corsets. They should be easy to find and you may not need to have order offline. I've used regular hook and eyes for a bodice before. just used the eye part and laced them up. This was before I found out about scrapbooking eyelets. Not sure if it's what you were looking for. ^^ ;

 

thanks, for the suggestion. i really wanted the eye part from a hook and eye. but it looks like i've found a source. the fabric i'm planning to use wouldn't hold an eyelet very well and i want to have the lining under the closure to prevent scratches.

 

I had a question regarding the men's suits as well. Would I be able to make a dress kilt and a formal fly plaid for him or is the outfit strictly pants, jacket, vest etc.? I'm good either way; just wondering if I can dress up my boy in his ancestoral attire but super dress it up.

 

ooh, that would be cool! i tried to convince my son to go that route for his grad, but no such luck

 

my hubby is scottish and we made a matching wee kilt and sporran for our 3 yr old to wear to the scottish festival. So cute, but he kept trying to do cartwheels.

 

it says suits with jacket/vest doesn't say anything about it having to be with pants..formal dress kilt should be ok since it is formal for the scottish

my fabric idea almost worked... it would have been fine if i hadn't grabbed the wrong stabilizer (cutaway instead of tearaway) and ended up with cardboard!

Wow! I was just perusing through the progress photos in the challenge thread and people are really rockin' the Glitz and Glamour Challenge! It's so exciting to see all the awesome fabrics and applications going on there. Sorry, but I just had to gush about it and didn't want to take up space in the challenge thread itself. Great work going on there for sure!

 

These challenges are so much fun, but I am a little confused with the next one.
If I understand correctly, I can use for example my Shion as Sinbad, and I need to sew him a band outfit, using one of Sinbad's accessories as design element?

It was pretty late? (at least by my clock...) That's probably what happened

 

wow a new one already and deadline for entries is tomorrow..eek. That was quick, better get my mind made up now, I wonder if that is an error? usually we have a few days to post.

 

Usually the next contest doesn't start until a month after the last one closed. So after the February challenge ends, the next one would be for the month of April and be announced in mid-March (around the time the February winners are announced) with two weeks for sign-ups. I wonder if it's an error or if they're trying to shift to monthly contests rather than bi-monthly.

 

Where do I post my entry form please for the rock n roll fantasy one?

oh, ok that's a relief. i was just going to pass the next one up since i had no time to think. now i'll consider it at least.

i managed to get my glamour one done and posted now, just under the wire. looks like there could be some stiff competition for this one!

 

elfmoon- One of my possible stories is listed but the idea image is from a book that tells the story differently, where in the traditional story the character in question is just ugly in this book she is a troll. Can I still use the image?

i'm kind of fuzzy/brain dead today. but wanted to see if i got this right. we just post an image we have found of the character we want to use, we don't have to actually make the before outfit. just our reinterpretation of it?
