Problems with DOLKUS

    1. The Chinese doll I bought from Dolk was also shipped from China via EMS. It might still be worth checking the rates per country of origin and using that to push back, but I also wasn’t charged any additional shipping in my case, so it makes me wonder if they’re trying to account for export tax or something else beyond the actual freight cost. Not that it makes it any better, but I think you’d have to push back with the cost comparisons like suggested to get them to answer that’s the case. It feels a bit ridiculous when a lot of their items are upcharged in the first place, though I think the JP site is even worse for this.
       
    2. I've also had the worst experience when buying dolls from Dolk. It took over a year for them to send it, I contacted them several times and they took forever to answer, always saying that the doll wasn't ready.
      The last time I wrote them, it took them over a week to answer saying the same thing, but two days before their answer, I got an email saying it was ready to be shipped (so I had this email saying that it was ready and then two days later, the one saying I wasn't), and the website showed her ready to be shipped so I waited for 3 more weeks and it wasn't showing any signs of shipping.
      Contacted them again and their response was that I needed to pay more for the shipping (same story), so I did and even with the shipping being paid it took them another full month to ship it!

    3. I wish I saw this thread before pre-ordering their Dolk x Myou Sakura Delia. The page for this doll isn't even available anymore. The Dolk JP site still has the doll order page up, and the delivery was set for this October which just passed.

      I deeply appreciate all your reviews, positive or negative.
      We at DOLKUS all know and have read all the comments and reviews and we would like to address most of the concerns.

      First, the production delays.
      The recent events has created major challenges for makers manufacturing. Many are working with reduced staff for health and safety. Raw materials for making the products are often delayed in terms of delivery.
      More recently, however, we're seeing high demands or sales and manufacturing can't keep up with demand, which is causing a longer delay for production due to the volume of orders seeing as we at dolk are not the only distributor for makers.
      We contact the makers from time to time to check the progress of production and ask them for the estimated delivery time. And make sure that we can provide the customers an update.
      There are instances that we fail to update customers of the situation, that is on us and we deeply apologize for it.

      Second, the delays in shipping process.
      Due the meticulous process in inspection and the volume of products that needed to be checked, there has been a slow movement in our shipping department. Manpower is limited for our shipping department and we have to ensure that the items are in great quality and there are no missing pieces before shipment. Also we have to check the cost of shipment for each package.

      Third, the shipping fee increase.
      The actual shipment cost is calculated by the volume and size of the package, we can only know the actual cost once the item is in our office and packed. Thus the reason why we ask for an additional shipment fee.
      The shipment fees on our website are a close estimation of the actual shipment fees for each country. These days since the pandemic, the couriers had continued to increase there fee in shipment. As we all know these few years the demand for international shipment has increase due to the popularity of online purchases. These resulted to a high demand in in the shipping industry. Same situation with the makers, the shipping industry is operating with reduced staff for health and safety reasons.

      We hope that you can understand the situation.

    7. Hey, anyone else having issues with the pictures of products on dolkus not showing up? I don't see anyone else mentioning this. Most of the products are just black squares. I'm on mobile if that helps.

    10. I personally wouldn't buy from them anymore.

      Shipping time was okay for me (it took almost 1.5 years for the doll to arrive but that was okay, I knew it would take long) and the communication was good but the additional shipping fees were a nogo for me. I would have thought twice if I knew I would have to pay almost 200 USD additionally for shipping of both items.

      Furthermore, one of the items has a little flaw from production / inspection and no compensation was offered because it was nlt avoidable. Because both items had to be shipped seperately, the 110 USD extra shipping for the slightly damaged 2nd item alone annoys me even more.

      I was also a little bit surprised that they seem to take dolls out of their box and take pictures of every part to show everything is complete and there are no damages as some ppl might have problems with already opened boxes. Therefore I would expect them to ask beforehand whether or not this is okay. I'm not sure if some dolls don't arrive boxed, tho, so this might explain it.
       
    11. Hmmm, the additional shipping is certainly odd. I just had a doll shipped by them very recently and didn't have to pay more. Which makes sense because the amount lined up with what I had to pay elsewhere ($47 for a 45cm doll from China vs. the same amout for her sister (same size and brand) from Legenddoll). I feel like they should do a better job breaking down shipping prices for their customers.

      We apologize for the sudden increase in the shipment fee. We did not expect the price to rise after the pandemic. The cost is calculated by the size and weight of the actual item package. The order the shipment cost is estimated before the pandemic starts and we have not prepared what will be the actual cost. We base solely on what results in processing the shipment of the item.

      Also the opening of the boxes, it is necessary to inspect the quality items after they are delivered to our office by the maker to see the quality and condition of the items before we ship to the customer and determine if they are correct and accurate and we can communicate with the customers if there is any concern with their orders.

      I hope this can somehow explain the situation and hope you can understand the situation.

    14. DolkUs how long it takes you to ship items once you have them in your possession and you have sent photos for confirmation?

    15. I bought from Dolk JP because I am in Japan. Mine was an in-stock Ringdoll (already made and in Japan), not a pre order. Not second hand either. But they did open the box to leave their card (verifying that they sold me the doll) inside.

      He is the Xun Yu fullset from last year with the two heads. He was not advertised in Dolk US. (So yes, there is a mild difference with the Japanese website and US website).

      So I can’t complain since I received my doll in two days. (But the payment system is a tad more troublesome - they don’t use PayPal).
       
    16. I haven't bought from dolk us. I did contact them about a few questions, but so far they haven't responded. It's been awhile too. From how they don't respond back to potential customers make me believe they have terrible customer service. I don't know maybe it is normal in Japan to charge more after you paid for your items. I bought some items from Japan and paid. While I waited for my items I got emailed to pay more for shipping by an extra ~$100. I was really shocked because it was for two magazines relating to kpop. I don't think the items are fairly heavy or large items, but well that is how they are charging me for... I am really glad now dolk us didn't respond to my emails. I don't have to deal with them now. It's probably due to the pandemic shipping is so crazy right now, but I still think over $100 for two magazines is far too much especially since shipping costs more than the actual items. If I bought dolls from dolk us I shudder at how much shipping they could have potentially charged me.

      Is it possible to buy from dolk jp?

    18. Very difficult unless you have a Japanese address and someone to receive it for you. The transactions I have done with them requires a bank transfer to their Jpost account, not PayPal or credit card payment.

      The reason why I deal with them is because DolkUSA doesn’t allow Japanese domestic addresses to be registered. You also need a sufficient grasp of Japanese to perform transactions with Dolk JP.

    19. So a proxy wouldn't help in this situation. I was hoping to get to rozen maiden doll from them when it came in stock.
       
    20. I tried to do a layaway through Dolk and their PayPal suddenly stopped accepting money for several days when I was attempting to make another payment. To even get a reply from the company, after messaging them directly, I had to open up a PayPal dispute. Which they then kept asking me to close though I was pretty apparent I wanted a refund and lost trust in the company.

      I’m not ordering from them again. Hopefully I get my money back. I do not appreciate having messages ignored while their payment method has issues. It all just rubbed me the wrong way. I wish I saw this thread before I even made the order.

    21. I ordered from DolkUS a few years ago, had some troubles with shipping, etc. But the last straw was FINALLY receiving an outfit . . . only to have it come to me in an obviously used condition, stained, and in a box filled with dead cockroaches. That was the last time.

    22. Reading all those horror stories makes me think wow damn was I lucky qwq
      I ordered a XagaDoll last year in November and got her after only 2 months without any problem.
      Communication was great, they sent me picture of the doll after they received it from the company, to confirm that it was my order.
      She arrived safe and sound.
      Wanted to order again but this time unfortunately, the doll was sold out ( I already made my 1st layaway payment). They sent me an email to asked me if I would like a refund or to order something else instead.
      So, I told them I want a refund and after 2 days I've got my money back. Again, without any problems.

    23. I ordered the Myou x Dolk Sakura Delia from Dolk US back in April 16, 2021. The pre-order specific page disappeared after pre-orders ended. I emailed sometime in March 2022 and was told there were delays. She did finally arrive on April 23 2022.

    31. everything was fine with the customer service but again they asked for 69usd extra shipping after i payed 106USD for 2 Msd Fairyland Dolls

      I also checked on the Japanese Ems page.
      it says that the dimensions of a box in total can be 3m. (doesn't matter the Kg it's from 2kg to 30kg)
      10kg would be 163usd
      And 5kg are 13000 yen which is 94usd
      (To Germany)

      i dunno how much 2 Fairyland dolls would weigh together but 10kg seems a bit too much.
      i ordered a lot from Japan or China (180usd for 16kg) but it was never that expensive to ship.

      I am really not amused by this. I told them I don't need premium Ems, without is totally fine..but dunno probably have to pay the extra fee and won't return to them... second time they ask so much shipping.

      Edit: i also checked the prices from Korea to Germany and it's 168 for a 9kg package and 102usd for a 5kg package. i still can't believe that two Fairyland fullsets weigh 10kg...while one doll only is about 0,7kg with clothing and box maximum 2kg each

      edit: 2 fullsets shipped directly from Fairyland are 113usd (I just put 2 fullsets of the newest minifee in my cart and calculated shipping)
