Alex (I) was my first doll back in 2008 and he's changed the most, so prepare for some scary.
when I first got him (omg he's so clean!!)...silver wig (Dollmore was out of blond at the time), eyes you can't see...default faceup. Hooboy.


New custom faceup, much better wig, different eyes.

Second custom faceup! (I loved the first one off) Jointy hands, tattoos (not all of them, but close!), the same eyes he has now....he's moving up in the world.


First faceup done by me (I was too chicken to do him prior to this one), and wearing one of about 15 blond wigs that he had then....


Current faceup! Done by me again, just a few weeks ago. Yet another blond wig (and he's currently wearing another new one even from the time this picture was taken...I may have an addiction to white-blond wigs....)


I am happiest with the way he looks right now! Such an improvement 33 He so pretties >3<

I'm always messing with my dolls...

Elusive (Delf Nanuri 2006) started out with the default Luts face-up.

Then, I decided that he needed to look a bit more drastic. He is a performer, after all.


Tatsuro (Delf El) arrived like this.

And he ended up looking like this.


Lupus (Iplehouse SID Theo) arrived like this.

Now, she's a B&G Lister that I modded into a girl.

Calixte has gone through a lot of changes over time. Some of them were what was I thinking moments xD He started off as an excuse to keep my Dollzone Megi who had outgrown his previous character.





Sold the WS Megi but then regretted it and bought a NS one off the MP and gave him a horror show of a face-up for 'fantasy' Calixte.



Then he got into a somewhat Lolita phase and a new but still bleh face-up.



Sold the Megi again and thought I was done with Calixte but I started drawing him and he became a bigger part of the story he's from so desire for Cali doll came again. Yay run on sentence. Then I saw Resinsoul Wu, loved his big lips and thought it's not too expensive a doll. I can fix whatever I don't like on him and bought him as a present to myself.

For the first time he had a bit of color, a human appearance with a modified default face-up and wig left by a previous doll.



But I missed my little albino so I started trying for that look again. First attempt at albino face-up on my own with eyebrows that don't show up at all.



I've never used Acrylic for face-ups before just pastel and watercolor pencils but I decided to try. It made a big difference, Calixte now has eyebrows xD



He's dressing better now too >.>

I just love this thread, so many awesome doll evolutions.

I'll contribute again with Val this time, my DZ Chen.


This is what he looked like before. Fishnet shirt, large fox ears and tail, and a rather crummy face up by me.


And this is him now. He ditched his fox features and became a vampire as he was supposed to be. I also gave him a better face up.



Then here is Elyra, my Fairyland MNF Ryeon when I first got her and how she looks now.


Oh and here's my first picture of Zephyra with random clothes, wig, and default face up.


And here she is now, with a new body, clothes, and still the first face up I did on her.

 

I have a couple transformations. First I have Iris, Who was difficult bc I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with her. all my ideas never worked out very well. So here she is how she came but with a different wig.



She was like this for a year and was my least favorite doll really. Then I finally thought of it. I want her to be a bunny. So I had one of my friends give her a bunny face up and put Annika's old eyes in her. They look great! She has temporary ears tho, I would like to get some magnetic resin ones for her later.



Next one is Laira. I have wanted this doll ever since I first saw her. She is a leekeworld Arianna and I wanted her to be my fish girl. so this is how she came.



And here she is after making her a wig and eyes (also made the outfit)



Last one is Leon. Got him second hand here off the marketplace. He is a resinsoul Ming. This is how he arrived except he came with brown eyes and no wig.



Took him to the same person who did my Iris bunny faceup. She did his face, ears, and hooves. Here he is now.

I had a big, huge collage of my RS Li's transformation, but it's way too big for this thread. Sadly, soon after that my SD card got wiped so I lost ALL of those pictures that weren't posted online. I do, however, have this before/after comparison still. On the left is a picture of her the second day she was home and on the right is one taken back in February after a bunch of mods and about 5 or 6 faceups, when I was finally satisfied.

When Florie (Granado Sidonia) arrived, I had nothing for her. Also, I made a mess of the inside of her eyes, which turned out bright red :p. But her mouth came out nice, so I didn't dare to redo her face-up immediately for fear of not being able to paint that mouth again...



I did gather my courage, eventually, and now she looks like this:




Morgana (Dollzone Aurora) is on to her third face-up now. This was her first, which was one of my first too and turned out a bit smudgy:



In her second, I went overboard on the pinks :p...



Now she finally has a face-up with which I'm happy!

From 1-6, from how she came to me and how she went through her many phases~! It's hard to say whats going to happen next but I am content with her current style :]

This is Daisya, the second doll I got, in 2008, so I also have some horrendous photos of him. XD
For quite a while he had two different colored eyes. I was absolutely dreadful at photo editing too.

I got my Resinsoul An on November 1st 2013 and since then he's been through a bit of change. Mostlh because when I got him I didn' have a clear idea of his style, and then on Christmas Eve he got an entirely new personality since the character got reshelled. The latest pic in this pic is taken on Christmas 2013. He still looks the same today, though he got a new face up (that looks mostly the same).

 

Fresh out of the box in his full set gear and now. I changed his eyes and hair and clothing style.

After she first came home with her new face up! before I learned how to control fur wigs, or that those eyes were not for her. lol

My Angell Studio Kana has evolved a lot since I've known her. I first saw her at a local meetup, she had just been purchased by a fellow collector. I liked her immediately, and so did Puck, my Bobobie Weylin. Though I didn't like her faceup, there was something in her sculpt I really liked. I couldn't put my finger on it. Some of her features are a little quirky. Puck LOVED her, he wanted to sit next to her right away. He's a smart boy!



Her owner tried SO hard for about two years to make the doll work for her, and had multiple faceups and even slight body modifications done, but had no luck. That's when I had the opportunity to buy her, and jumped at the chance. Here's the faceup she had when I bought her. It was better, but not what I wanted.



I sent her to SheCow here on DoA for a faceup, and now she is beautiful!! People are always asking me what sculpt she is.



My Marjorie. A lot of my boys have a crush on her.

I think my most transformed doll is my Volks Link, Christian. Here he is, fresh out of the box...


And a much more recent picture of him!


He has a different wig, different eyes (and 16mm as opposed to 18mm), and his face-up has been tinkered with a few times now, but it is still the Volks default underneath it all. He's got some tattoos also, and I just blushed and did a seam removal on his hands, but those don't show in this picture...

 

Faith's first faceup, the first one I ever did.


And her second one. I want to redo her again, but now is not a good time. She's so beautiful up close, it's hard to wipe her even knowing that I can do a better job the next time around.

 

I've been working on this girl for a long time now. She was my first mod project and that really made me nervous in the beginning. After getting used to the Dremel and crafting knife, I realized that it wasn't so bad! Unfortunately the vibration of the Dremel caused one of the head magnets to pop-off, but other than that everything went smoothly. I may make her eyes a little bigger in the future since sometimes its hard to photograph the iris. Her first wig was an old alpaca wig from years ago that I no longer use on any of my girls. I couldn't wait to replace it with the new one. What a difference!

While Kit has always been 'Kit,' it used to be short for Krataiis (like a Greek sea monster). I wasn't sure if he was a wizard boy or had super strength or had shape-shifting powers. Now Kit is short for Keith and he is just a human child. Very boring.

 

Oh wow! the magic of face ups o.o she looked average before and kind of childish, now she looks wise, and sensual. I love her!

I have something to add to this, I suffered with this guy a bit but I'm glad he's finally at a stage where I'm happy with him.

 

yumi, his features are deeply etched in his sculpt, but surprisingly they didn't give a lot of definition to his face. I think your latest faceup has really added more definition to his expression.

I don't like eyelashes on a lot of my guys either! They tend to obscure the eyes sometimes.

@galatia9 he's been quite a challenge for me, the second face up went through a lot of stages. I didn't want to erase it so I kept on fixing stuff here and there until I realized that it needed to go and I had to start again. I think stylized sculpts are easier to face up than realistic sculpts and while this one is not completely realistic, it was different to my other dolls but I have learned a lot because of it. I think I will keep working on him. Thank you for your input

 

What an interesting Trez. Love to see how to change doll. Thank you all. I also have all the dolls (I have nine) and changed the images. Who is radical and who is a little. That is why I started to learn how to do make-up. Will show you a bit of their. Faith first - my favorite doll. He hasn't changed much. Just became more Mature. But Ilar (the blond one) has changed much. He just became an angel

One of the guys here who's truly undergone an evolution and transformation is a guy from AOD, a Ruo Feng. I got him home on a whim back in the summer of '08 because I found he looked cool in the official pictures but could never quite figure him out once I got him home.


His first couple of face-ups were, well, a disaster, but then again, I was pretty green back then so how can one expect anything amazing. At least he wasn't blank?


Then I had two people at two different meets re-paint him. The first one to paint him just did whatever, even I didn't know what I wanted so I let her just go with it. The second, I had found a reference and boy did that work wonders!


He kept that for quite a while and changed hair colour from black, to dark grey and blond until I sat down and modified the living daylights out of that face. Sanded down his chin, cheeks, nose, lips, and carved a gap between his lips to make little visible teeth and repainted him myself in much the same fashion as he'd been previously.



He's stayed that way ever since.

 

Casey has been through a lot in the 8 months I've had him!

She has progressed a lot in the 1 year and a half I have her and I'm so happy to have her.

 

1st faceup. I wound up disliking it the day after I did it. Her expression was too severe and, although my photographs of her hide it, the side of her head and the front of her neck were badly stained. On top of that I also wound up disliking her name and backstory. Time for a complete doll overhaul!



2nd faceup. I had to repaint her entire head, neck and bust piece, which was done by mixing two different kinds of beige paints. Although her skin looks darker than before in photographs, it actually matches her original skintone really well in person. I really like other people's "deliberately imperfect" dolls, the kind with lots of blemishes and freckles, so I decided to go with that look for my own doll. I also had a red wig lying around so I thought, "Celtic Lass". I like my doll a lot more now, because she's closer to how I originally envisioned her.

I just realized I have an old photo of my two dolls tucked away in my Imgur. It triggered a bit of nostalgia. Back then, my Granado Michael had no eyes or clothes, and I was still struggling to control the wig I bought secondhand for him. Both of them were still very kicky and difficult to pose. And of course, I was still fumbling around with their measurements and how to sew their outfits.

Now here's how they look in their most recent photoshoot together. The girl, Adhara, is due to be reshelled into a different sculpt soon, but at least she got a last major hurrah of images.

My second girl, Mami, has probably done the most changing in terms of faceup and general style-- though, Eiko has gone through some pretty drastic changes to her look as well...


Mami when she first arrived, when she was still V2 Yukino and I hadn't quite decided on a name or a character for her.


After changing her wig and beginning to come up with a backstory. At first, Mami was supposed to be a very gentle and motherly retired succubus who was able to see the past sins/misdeeds of others simply by touching them once.


So many steps towards her real personality in this picture! New eyes, new body (she body swapped with Eiko), a new wig, and most importantly-- a new faceup!



She was finally starting to take form at this point, and only needed a little more tweaking.


Mami as she is currently. All she needs at this point is the mouth that's supposed to go in the back of her head-- the hallmark trait of the futakuchi-onna that she's supposed to be.

 

I actually keep track like this....

So I know what changed when and how they are put together ^^
Of course the older ones have gone through bigger changes

 

One change of faceup, smaller eyes, and a more suitable wig style later...

I still want to get her some urethane eyes--these acrylic ones just don't catch any light and just don't photograph well at ALL--and redo her wig so that it's made out of something that isn't yarn. And she needs, like, a ton more clothes. BUT she's getting closer. :3
