Pretty much all of my dolls have gone through tons of changes, including upgrades to new heads and bodies. However, as the oldest of my dolls, Darryl has the longest history.


Darryl started out as a Volks Kohya. That's him on the right. This shot shows his earliest faceup, and his first wig/outfit. He's also still on the original SD13 Kohya body here.



Here's Darryl a few years later, riding on a Dollstown 15Boy body. This is a fairly crappy faceup that I gave him, to replace an earlier one that had gotten worn, but at least it's better than that first one.





And here he is a few more years down the line, sporting a new wig and a new faceup by a good friend of mine. He still has this faceup.



Finally, the Kohya version of Darryl was retired to life in one of my doll cabinets, and he was upgraded to an Iplehouse Asa head on a Fairyland Feeple65 boy body. He's not "complete," as of yet, but this image is current.

This is a very cool thread - seeing how a doll changes over time to get closer and closer to someone's vision; it's really neat. :3

I've had a few changes over the years, but none quite as much as Alex:

When I first got him... I was not ready for him (I'm sorry Alex!). Not the right hair or eyes or clothes... T_T


Then his hair arrived and I fooled around with some blue eyes for a little while. I also got him better clothes... although he tried to wear as little of them as possible. >>;


His 'true' identity as a fey comes out with green hair and gold (Volks Metallics) eyes:


Finally we get him back into his brown wig and find the right pair of green eyes. The run on his nose starts to show through however... ;_;


So we try to cover it up and enter his 'I have a cold' phase... T_T


We send him off to be re-faceupped... and tragedy strikes.


Alex comes back... in a different form, but still a Kohya. 'A little younger looking' is the comment heard most often. o_O


He also finds new Dollshe urethane eyes for his pixie-ish transformation:

Broken!Alex is transformed into Victor:


Who also eventually gets his own hair... and girlfriend. ^^



And in the end, everyone is happy.

Myliex has been with me for almost 3 years now. She's the longest that I've kept any of my dolls, and she is definitely the most loved.

This was taken not long after her arrival. The wig was left over from my Unoa Sist (and didn't actually fit). I can't remember where the eyes came from, maybe Ginarolo.

Lucifer (B&G Ymir) was my second doll so the quality of some of these is not fab...

I think Ashka has come a LONG way from when I got her. She had a phase with a pretty awful faceup too but I couldn't find pics of that

Its fun to do these once a year or so... I've tried keeping up with them for my main two dolls especially!



And this is one I just did - while editing my last photoshoot, I realized that I had taken a really similar pic when I first got Clean Slate. So I photoshopped the two together. It shows her transformation from Victorian Schoolgirl to Wonderland Couture Creature really well

 

Gah looking at some of the earlier pics of my dolls is embarassing, but does highlight how far I've come in style.

Out of the box, no face-up



First face-up with prismacolor pastels, watercolor pencils, and testors dullcoat


Second face-up, with the same materials, but think I oversprayed the testors andhe came out shiny


Third face-up: Still the same material trying to improve technique without much success


Forth face-up. Switched to using MSC, rembrandt soft pastels along with prismacolor pastels, and thinned out acryliuc paint. Switched wigs and decided on an eyecolor. Kept this face-up on him the longest


Fifth and current face-up. Now using panpastels(which are awesome btw) Finally managed to add eyelashes, and switched the eyes to a more subdued green. There's still some room for tweaking, and there are flaws hidden by the wig I'll have to fix at some point, but overall I'm happy with the look

I didn't realize, but Chaucer has gone through some major changes.

This is my AOD Rao with her factory faceup, that infamous nasty pink enamel, and her original styling. Directly next to it is what she looks like currently. It's amazing what a new faceup can do!

I have another one to contribute to here! I have this "nasty" habit of wiping face ups on my dolls and doing my own.


The picture on the left was his default, the middle is what I did first (oh god the marker eyebrows!!), and the right picture is how he looks now. Much much better.


And this one. I've had her about a month and she's gone through two of my face ups. I hated the middle one and wiped it within two days. Her original face up wasn't bad at all, it was quite good, but there came in my "nasty" habit again. I love her current face up (the one on the right) the most.

 

Before I hated his looks here, everything felt so wrong...that smile, that face up, hair, eyes, style ALL IS WRONG! >__< I almost put him on sale @_@

1. October 2012: I sewed him a mohair wig (he wore it in two ways - loosely with some hairdband and in braids)
2. January 2013: New face-up from NoodlesCZ, a local artist.
