Here is the evolution of Malach:

Malach still wears the same wig, it's just been brushed and chopped by me.
Malach got new hair and finally got his glasses which he was always supposed to have. He also had his lips repaints by the amazing darkmothflame.

He currently goes back and forth between the two wigs in the last two pictures.
Nikko also got new hair, a Volks wig bought for another doll, that he has claimed as his own and got his eyes and eyebrows redone by amazing darkmothflame.

Wheeee~! Montresor's evolution! This should be...interesting. This boy has gone through the most significant changes out of all my dolls.<_<

After briefly testing out at least 3 different molds, he finally seemed to settle on a modded dreaming El...

Bleck...this faceup was too dark and dramatic for Montresor


I changed it a bit here, but it was still too dark and sharp (I was also testing different wigs on him...this one didn't work out):


At this point, Montresor's entire physical appearance was undergoing several changes in my mind so I had to re-evaluate head molds. I chose Breakaway, which was much more suiting...


I liked this look for a while, but still I wanted his eyes more sleepy (his hair was also too long and too dark).

I re-modded his eyes, redid his faceup, and changed his wig. This look was great for a time, but not sickly enough for me, which is what Montresor is all about.


Then I got caught in a blah period and this atrocity happened:

Then I really made an effort to fix him up and was finally able to accomplish his ultimate look. New face-up & new wig. Current:

I love him to death now!: D I don't think he'll ever change again. *wipes sweat*

Oh boy XD Kotarou has had quite the evolution!

How he was at first:

Black eyes, leekworld wig with added yarn braids, on modded CP girl body (to a boy's), harsh faceup, heavy black and orangey lips:

I changed his faceup to have a less-harsh, semi-natural look and gave him blue eyes:



Next:

I changed his wig to a Leekeworld one that I cut for a more Asian style, and changed his eyes to a dark purple-black:

I changed his eyes back to blue, and his wig to a different Leekeworld one that's longer and added a bit more shadowing to his eye makeup:



AND NOW:

his eye makeup and eyebrows were changed, I added real eyelashes, and he is now on a CP boy body:



What a transformation! FEWF! XD

 

*gulp* Ok, some more "evolution" pics xD This time, Ruka:

This is how he started off... *bleh* his eyes were opened too big, his tear-ducts were too large, and his faceup just...well, lacked detail and some other things.

Then I re-modded his eyes and redid his eyebrows and shadowing (his eyes were still opened too wide and his faceup was still lacking):



...So I modded his eyes a little more and completely redid his faceup...(I gave him red lips to try something new, but I quickly grew tired of them):


And finally, I repainted his lips pink (his original color) and also redid his eyebrows:

I think I will touch it up just a bit more as soon as I acquire some more MSC, I might want to remove the eyelid line to give him a more asian look.^^

Wehee. Jay didn't really evolve so much as change colors with his faceup. haha. THo, when I first got him he was a body. I got his head later. >.>;



This is his very first faceup I did for him. Why I wiped it off, I still wonder. T_T Cause I actually liked it. He's gone through several faceups. The recent before the current had lips screamed 'i get abused, save me'. I like his current. For now. >_>; And his eyes. Even if he looks like he's plotting my downfall.

 

the biggest evolution i have is my chiwoo, Fuyu:

at first he was a totally different character (based him off of Astaroth of Angel Sanctuary):

this was around 2 and a half years ago..

then i changed him to Fuyu..at first he was very sweet looking:

but it still didn't fit him..

finally he has his perfect look:

 

I just changed Kotarou's faceup and I'm in LOVE with it. I think he looks a lot like himself, and sooooo much more the way I pictured him in my head! I thought it was necessary to post his "Evolution" becuase he's gone through some really ugly stages ^^;;

 

Kale's gone through quite a bit of a transformation.

He quickly started taking things over (i.e. everything Kaja owns, including his body).


He then had his eyes opened a bit and was given a temporary black wig and glue bottle body to tide him over. ._.


While he was away for his face-up, his body arrived, bringing his lovely attitude with it.


Kesa now! It was a long road but he made it home in all of his bratty glory. :]

 

Ah, I admit that in digging up these pics, I feel deep shame and embarrassment for ever thinking that they were "good". Moving along...

November 2005: Blanche arrives, default Luts face-up and harbl wig from hell, as well as the light-eating eyes.



Around June 2006 she got a Pookie face-up since her Luts one was deteriorating. Here she is in September (2006), in a fur wig I made her.



And around early 2007, the Pookie face-up started to go. So off to SDink she went. I finally settled on a Luts wig in cream for Blanche's default and she got some blue eyes.

Ro, my Elf Ducan also underwent some changes.

(August 16th 2006) First, the default Ducan, while pretty, I really disliked his "I sucked on tar" lips and glitter eyeshadow.



(early 2007)So then at the same time Blanche went to SDink, so did Ro.



Later, his new wig arrived and this is his most recent picture(June 2007)



Maeve recently changed from blonde and green eyes to blue eyes and white hair.

Well, Iris is my first doll, and the one I put the most work into.

Her very first faceup by me:


Just one pink star, and it's very light...


Then she got a new faceup with more stars, and a bit more color:




After that, it was black eyebrows:



But that was a bit harsh for what I wanted (and made her look older), so now I finally have a faceup I love. She looks sweet, innocent, and just a little worried. She also has more natural lips.

 

Here's my two dolls, Tohaku and Kaimei. Both have gone through a lot of changes, especially Tohaku, my AR Cien. I'll do Kaimei, my MNF Shushu first since it's less pics.

Upon arrival w/o faceup and just deep pink eyes.

After first faceup by ComicBookArtistBoi, her ears are pierced too.

Bat wings tattoo was added. Also by CBAB.

Finally, original Shushu head was sold and purchased Sleeping Vamp Shushu head. Again, faceup and ear piercing done by CBAB.


Longer than I thought...so I'll post Tohaku's transformation in another post.

 

Tohaku is my first doll, so I decided to show his transformation last rather than first. Just wanted to clarify that.
Here's Tohaku when he first came to me, default everything. Course, I gave him a little hat and bracelet as presents.

Then took Tohaku to his very first doll meetup. I spiked his hair, LadyLenneth made an outfit for him, and LadySaiyuki did the faceup.

Tohaku then gets another change thanks to ComicBookArtistBoi and just in time for the arrival of his girlfriend, Kaimei(MNF Shushu).

Tohaku's final change is courtesy of his vampire girlfriend, Kaimei. She was upset that one day Tohaku would die, now he'll always be by her side. Bite marks mod and ear piercing all done by the wonderful, CBAB.

Doubt they'll be any more mods done to either Kai or Tohaku, unless Tohaku gets his lip pierced. But I don't know anyone who knows how to do that.

 

One of the enjoyable parts about owning a BJD is how you can continually customize them. =)

The character that changed most for me was Warren:
- Started off as CP El
- Had some wig and eye changes
- Became Elfdoll Special K



What I did with my Ryung, Dagny, is much less radical. She underwent:
- Some wig and eye changes
- Body blush by my talented friend, Shoofy. X3



In between these 2 changes, I switched from using my camera to <strike>hijack</strike> borrow my dad's as well, since he wasn't using it as often anymore.

=) I'll post Dagny's changes again once she receives a new faceup.

 

Osirus is the only one of my dolls that seemed to evolve...

Originally he was a OD Tae
- he was so small
- couldnt find a girl to go with him at that size that would be my Seren
- I tried a DZ wing doll, but didnt like the body scuplt
- Decided on Abadon: custom faceup

Oooooo! Shiwoo's changed a little, but Toby and Niro have changed the most out of all my dolls.

The unsinkable Sora Blue has been through as many versions as the Shockwave plugin.... *heh* Sora is a Shiro Tachibana. I am his third owner.

(1) He didn't have his original Volks faceup when I got him. So, take the old Volks Tokyo Boys stock-photo as granted. ^^

(2) Sora v.1.0: When I bought him, he had this homebrewed colored-pencil faceup with frosty peach lips. All un-sealed! I had to keep pencilling his brows back on after every few wig changes.




(3) Sora v.2.0: A year later (oh the horrors of procrastination), my first attempt at a faceup came out a wee bit heavy-handed. Sora v2.0 looked like he'd been drinking cheap Chianti since 6:30 am.




(3) Sora v.2.1: With a little more eyeshadow, and a lot of pale-pink lip pastels, and a LOT of color-theory help from Idrisfynn & St. James about what to do in the interim when his lips briefly turned out lavender... Sora v.2.1 was nearly there. But his unevenly-sculpted mouth was still too serious: that special Sora Smirk had disappeared. Still cute, but still wrong.




(4) ....So I re-smirked him! After another night of wrestling with the 100/0 brush & a droplet of burnt-umber paint, I finally got the Sora Smirk back on at the right angle.

My final gold-master candidate for release: Sora v.2.1r1, who always looks like he's guessing what color underwear you're wearing, and trying not to laugh about it.




(I'm a software QA engineer, and I found that keeping track of doll versions is often as challenging as keeping good version-control during software development-- so I used the same versioning system we used at work. )

Haha, I can see why people say they fall in love all over again with their dolls, now. new!Dorian is finally complete, and I completely love his final look, so a look back at how he's changed.

The very first picture of Dorian, oh how horrible it was. He never even got a picture in with his default eyes, those were out of him 5minutes after the box was open.


With what would have been his default wig, if it wasn't huge on him.


Now a wig that fits, but is a bad colour with his faceup.


Ah ha! A wig that fits, and looks good.


When Archernar arrived here briefly, we had a chance to steal his eyes, which were nicer then the Soom ones.


But, the lips still drove me crazy, so he got a new faceup. And, with a new faceup he needed a new wig, and new eyes (which he was always supposed to have brown eyes).

We started with a Delf wig and a Luts Faceup


Then he got a new wig:

(his faceup looks more beneficial then it really was... it was not that dark)

My first attempt at a face up. Even fleshed out her body the same day after I finished her face up. I used some acrylic paints I had on her since I'd heard they could be used. Was really happy with how her eyes turned out, especially since it looked good enough that I wouldn't have to order the eyelashes I'd originally forgotten to get for her.

Lot of room for improvement though once I manage to get the right tools...

 

October when I first got him.. oh god he had this hideous face up that utterly refused to come off I scrubbed and scrubbed and finally it was all gone! horray magic erasers.


then he was sent off to the wonderful sleep_pattern, who opened his eyes and did his beautiful face up! then back to me where he was assembled with his luts type 3 boy body and his wig and eyes
my baby now all done and purdy!

Right out of the box, first face up ever ^^;


Then I tried using acrylics... I suck with brushes =P~


Re-did everything, and tried more pink lips, which I liked a lot. But his eyebrows were un-aligned, and didn't look good enough for me >_<


His current face up. I like his new eyebrows ^o^ I gave him more pink lips, but... now I think he would look good with red lips... oh geez ~____~

 

I've had my first doll, an El, Rache, since June 06. It's weird to look back at old photos and see how different he looks now compared to then even though I've hardly changed a thing. XD
